The United States of America has some of the most beautiful, pristine, and diverse wildlife and natural landscapes in the entire world. Nowhere is this more true than right here in Florida. Our diverse ecosystems offer a plethora of wildlife and geographic regions to study, and it is up to us to do our best to balance the need to both advance our society and preserve our natural habitats. That’s where you come in. We are looking for local residents who want to become citizen scientists, and help us record and study the happenings and changes within our ecosystems. Do you have what it takes?
What do you need to do?
Our territory is far to vast and diverse to be monitored only by professionals. We need your help too. Nobody knows the land better than the people who live right on it. You can help us by providing your valuable expertise, and knowledge of the lay of the land to provide valuable insight into how the habitat is changing.
You can take our surveys to help us gather information about a species or project, or you could help us recording sightings of animals so that we can better determine the estimated population of endangered species. Give us a call, and let us know what you are experiencing because together we can all help to paint a better picture of how the world around us is changing, and how we can better help preserve it.
What skills do I need?
None really. Simply do what you always do. Everyone is needed on this project. We want anyone who enjoys being outdoors or has a specific skill set that can help us better understand the ecosystem. Doesn’t matter if you are out hiking and let us know about animal sightings or fishing and tell us about fish migratory patterns. You could even be sitting at home in your backyard and let us know if you saw a rare bird. Anything that you let us know helps us keep a detailed record that might just come in handy down the road.
Ok great! Where do I go? Who do I speak with?
You could check us out on the web, and there you will find all of the information that you need. It’s very simple. You can find all of the forms, and anything that you need to do to get in contact with us. You could also call us on the phone at 850-488-4676, and we will help put you in the right direction.
We need all the help we can get in helping the environment out. We all depend on the great outdoors in some or another down here, whether it’s the fishermen in the water, the hikers in the forest, or just anyone sitting outside and enjoying a beautiful day.
We need people with skills like yours, so if you think that you could help us out then let us know. It only takes a little while, and what you do could end up being a big help to Mother Nature somewhere down the line. So help us give back to her, and become a citizen scientist today!
