Palm Bay Fishing Report
INSHORE – The bite has been steady inshore this week. For the most part everything is on schedule, aside from the recent wind which has thrown a few fish off. Trout and Redfish are resilient and when anglers are able to make it on the water they are catching fish. Target Trout during the golden hours, sunrise and sunset. With the weather and murky water you’ll want to be using live bait for attraction. The same story goes for Reds, however they are pushing up to the shallower water. They don’t necessarily mind a bit of dirty water, but they still like to keep shallow. Searching areas such as Pumphouse Road in Titusville will be key. Of course, we can’t forget about the Snook as they hold up on docks and mangrove shorelines up and down the coast. Sizes and numbers are good throughout. They too, will likely come on live bait. Deeper docks may be holding Drum, so don’t be surprised if you hook them as a bycatch. The new kid in town has been Bluefish, and they’re coming in with style. Huge sizes have invaded the beaches, in some areas scaring off other species. Pompano and Whiting can be caught from the beach as well, however they aren’t as consistent down the coast. Towards Indian River you can find them in the inlets, but be prepared for a fight.
OFFSHORE – Unsurprisingly wind has made it tough to get offshore this week however a few weather windows have allowed anglers to make quick trips and take advantage of the bite. By far, the best bite has been from the incoming Dolphin as they make their way in. Towards Daytona, anglers are still travelling quite far, to 2500 feet of water to find them. By the time we get to Indian River they are as close as 120 feet of water. The sizes are decent so far and when the weather allows they are definitely worth going after. The bottom bite is also producing this week. Amberjack have turned up from roughly 90 feet of water out of the Indian River area. Sandbar Sharks can also be found swimming offshore, but most anglers are avoiding them while targeting Ajs during the few opportunities they have. Swimming above, anglers are excited to see Kings making their way closer to shore. It shouldn’t be long before they are nearshore. Target them on the troll as they have been quite active over the past week.

INSHORE – Tripletail are in the port on the buoy lines. The inlet is holding a hot Snook (Snook, Common) bite into this week. Monster Bluefish are also around. They are New Jersey Bluefish holding up here and they are up to 20 pounds in big schools which is rare for the area. This time of year they are normally hot however they are usually up to 5 pounds. The big fish just seem to have taken a break on their way up. They will likely continue their move soon. Cobia are a bit scattered but anglers are hooking a few free swimmers here and there.
OFFSHORE – Dolphin fishing has begun to pick up from 150 to 200 feet of water, look for weedlines. Tuna are hot for anglers heading to the other side. Yellowfin (Tuna, Yellowfin) in particular are decent sizes as we head to the West side of the Gulf Stream and the bite is great.

Palm Bay Fishing Report
INSHORE – There is a superb variety of fish to be taken inshore this week. The Trout in particular are the main bite so far. The early morning and late evening bite has been, hands down, the best time to fish from Daytona to Port St. Lucie. A variety of setups are working to hook them including both live and artificial baits. As we move towards Titusville we see live bait being more successful. Overall there has been no trouble stacking up a few good Trout. Typically talking about Redfish goes hand in hand with Trout however this week they seem to be a bit more scattered. They are still worth targeting inshore however there are no impressive numbers to report.
Snook are a close second in terms of the hot bite. They, too, are being caught from Daytona through Port St. Lucie. They aren’t too picky in terms of what they have been taking. Artificials such as Spoolteks and Flare Hawks are working along with live Pilchards, Menhaden or Mullet. They seem to be an easy fish to land this week if you are looking for a quick catch.
The typical early Spring fish are beginning to heat up. We are seeing Sheepshead on structure, Drum in the Lagoon, along with Pompano, Bluefish and Whiting heating up on the beaches. We are also seeing tons of bait moving into the coastal areas. Everything is looking good to improve throughout the next few weeks and fire up a great Spring bite.
OFFSHORE – Now that we are finally seeing some nicer weather the bite is beginning to improve. Dolphin are the main catch from Daytona to Port St. Lucie. The sizes are great so far and the bite is steady. Anglers are targeting them anywhere from 150 feet of water and out, with some areas being just a bit closer in 90 feet. Anglers haven’t had any trouble hooking up the past week.
Kings are the next more prominent target into this week. They continue to show up, scattered with Cobia a bit closer to the coast. Anglers are trolling with live bait such as Ballyhoo or Cigar Minnows.
The bottom bite has been producing the usual Snapper and Amberjack anywhere from 60 feet and out. Cape Canaveral and Sebastian in particular have been hot areas to target them.

Palm Bay Fishing Report
INSHORE – Even though it’s been tough to get offshore this week there has been a fantastic bite for anglers heading to the surf or the inshore. We are seeing a nice variety of fish starting with a hot Drum bite from Daytona through Vero Beach area. As usual you can find them on structures as well as on the beaches and in the rivers. They are also taking a variety of bait setups including cut Clams, Shrimp or Fishbites. Plenty of Sheepshead are mixed in as they begin to fire up. You can fish them using similar bait setups.
As always, the typical Redfish, Trout and Snook are hanging around. Redfish seem to prefer the Island life so areas like Cucumber Island and the spoil islands will be key. Trout are improving as we move South but if you are targeting them be prepared to be heading out in the early morning for the best bite. Snook can’t seem to make up their minds so they are just about everywhere. It doesn’t take much looking to find them however hooking them will require Pinfish or Greenies this week.
Scattered reports of Flounder on the jetties as well as Pompano and Mackerel on the beach are beginning to come in and they should fire up as the weather improves. Bait is also beginning to show up which is a promising sign.
OFFSHORE – Despite tough fishing conditions there still some anglers braving the waters to take advantage of the unpressured bite. That being said, most reports are coming from closer wrecks and reefs with the bottom bite being more successful. Snapper are turning up in a variety of species this week and can be found consistently from Daytona to Vero. Head out to about 12 miles or look for ledges in 90 feet of water to find the best fish.
With the recent wind there has surprisingly been little debris floating around for Dolphin to be swimming under, so they are fairly scattered into this week. There are some nice catches turning up for anglers trolling Ballyhoo however they are nowhere near a steady bite. King Mackerel and Cobia are hit or miss throughout the region however they are out there if you are targeting them. If you can make it far enough offshore on a nice day, Sailfish have been caught out of Port St. Lucie.

Palm Bay Fishing Report
INSHORE – Snook season has been pretty good throughout the Central East Coast of Florida. The hottest bite this week was out of Ft. Pierce. Charter Captains and recreational anglers alike were finding success on live bait or jigs around bridges. Port St. Lucie saw good action in the spillway and locks, you can use shiners here. Nighttime Snook anglers are crediting most of the catches to using Windcheaters, Long As, Live Targets and also Shrimp. Pompano, when you can fish the surf, are decent from the beach in Daytona and Cocoa Beach but windy. They are also at the inlet around Ft. Peirce. Anglers are also doing well from the beach in port. St. Lucie fishing from Sandbar into the drop using goofy jigs or flare hawks. There has been Bluefish mixed in aswell. The Redfish and Trout bite has been steady, though not amazing. The best reports we had all week came from Mosquito Lagoon, where fish were tailing when the wind took a break. The bite was also good near Queen’s Cove on an outgoing tide, and Port St. Lucie saw both Trout and Redfish doing alright to the South.

OFFSHORE – Anglers saw a few bumpy days this week. We would normally expect reports on Mahi, Sailfish, Snappers and Grouper at this time of year. Blame the weather for a limited number of fishable days. Wahoo fishing was slow but should pick up out of Daytona as the full moon sets in. Amberjack have fished well from 80 to 130 feet of water. A live pinfish or other live bait sent to the bottom should do the trick. Red Snapper have been caught and released all over, especially off of Daytona. There are also a lot of reports of Kingfish caught this past week. Good numbers, combined with some poor seas, have kept a lot of angler in 60 to 90 feet of water trolling Clarkspoons, Bluerunners and Threadfins.

Melbourne Fishing Report
INSHORE – Trout fishing has been much better here than for Northeast Florida. If you like Trout fishing with live bait, expect to get into some Snook as well. Since the water has been warm, the Snook are fired up from Daytona to anywhere south of that. Most of the big Snook have been caught in the high current areas such as inlets. There’s still some Pompano being caught from the surf throughout the region, they just aren’t on fire. Whiting are mixed in with the Pompano and you can fish some inshore structures for Sheepshead.

OFFSHORE – A few bumpy days kept the boats close and the focus on Cobia, Kings and Ajs. Cape Canaveral landings saw decent number of King Mackerel and Cobia landed this week. Most of the Kings came off of 8A or Pelican, Cobia from fishing structures. There hasn’t been much talk of Cobia on Rays yet, we’re going to have to stick to deeper water for now. It can’t hurt, however, to keep an eye out for them when fishing buoys for Tripletail. Amberjack continued to fish well when the boats could get to at least 80 feet of water. Some popular baits were live Pinfish and Pigfish.

INSHORE – Shallow water anglers around Titusville and into Mosquito Lagoon had a few days of good Redfish, Black Drum and Trout fishing. Most of the fish were caught on the flats. Haulover Canal in particular also had a good Sheepshead bite. The beaches from New Smyrna down to Sebastian had good scatterings of Pompano and some Whiting. Southern Flounder were even caught off of Sebastian area beaches.

OFFSHORE – Private Boats and Charter Boats alike found good King Mackerel opportunities from Cape Canaveral down to Sebastian Inlet. Off of Cape Canaveral in particular, Captains reported lots of Kings being caught around 8A. The only thing that seemed to slow the fishing down was a little bit of weather.
Cobia reports were slim this week although the Palm Bay / Melbourne area did offer up some of these fish in 60 ft of water. Offshore bait had been a little lean from Daytona Beach and South towards Stuart, trolling for Dolphin only saw a few boats hooking Gaffers.

Palm Bay / Melbourne Fishing Report
INSHORE – Beach fishing has been decent throughout the region. Whiting, Bluefish and Pompano are being caught in good numbers up around New Smyrna Beach. As you go South towards Cocoa Beach you will begin to see more Redfish, Black Drum and Sharks such as Blacktip, Spinner and Blacknose on the beach. Palm Bay and Melbourne area in particular has a good number of Sharks chasing Whiting on the beach.
Inlet fishing from Palm Bay down to Port St. Lucie has been really productive for Snook anglers. Jack Crevalle are also being caught while Snook fishing. Most of the Jacks have been caught South of Vero beach.
Trout and Redfish haven’t been spectacular by any means however they are around any of the usual inshore flats and creeks all throughout Indian River. Shrimp, MirrOdines and DOAs will hook them.
OFFSHORE – For anyone looking to catch some Wahoo on the high speed troll they can travel to the gulf stream out of Daytona / New Smyrna area or South of Port St. Lucie. Dolphin have been really scattered. The best areas to head out of will be Palm Bay / Melbourne or farther South of Stuart. Kingfish and Sailfish have been decent when the boats can get out. Successful boats have launched out of Port Canaveral, Fort Pierce and South.
Offshore and nearshore bottom fishing was strongest from Palm Bay down to Vero Beach. Mostly Lanes and Vermillion Snapper are turning up. As you move farther South Mangroves are mixed in. Particularly off of Stuart there are plenty of catch and release Triggerfish. The only real word on Cobia came in from anglers fishing the wrecks and reefs out of Vero Beach.

INSHORE – When anglers can get out there has been Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) holding up in the shallow waters around the sunny side. Fish the middle of the day for the best bite. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are in the inlet. Bluefish and Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) are caught inside and outside the inlet with Pompano. Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are also on the beach. Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) are also caught in the surf. Most are small but we expect some bull sizes to move in soon. Fish bites, Clams or Sand Fleas are working well to hook them. OFFSHORE – Cobia should be good as anglers are just getting back on the water. Look for the temperature break to find them swimming along that line. They were mixed with Rays (Ray, Bat) about a mile out. Conditions are expected to be good into the weekend.
BAIT REPORT – Sand Fleas are on the beach in the afternoon when the sand is warm. Take them home, blanch them for about 20 seconds and keep them in dry sand. Give them a bit of water when you head out in the morning and they’re ready to use!

INSHORE – The Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are insane on the beach. Anglers are limiting out in less than 2 hours. There hasn’t been a lot of info coming from inshore this week. We suspect the weather is playing a big part in that. Normally at this time of year we would see Trout (Seatrout, Spotted), Sheepshead, Jacks (Jack, Crevalle) and tons of Catfish. INSHORE – Out of the port the Redfish (Drum, Red) are biting. Search for bait and boats. The sizes are pretty good. When the cooler weather sets in we expect the topwater bite to move to later in the day. Bigger Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) should move in as well. Live Mullet and bigger baits will do well. Potholes are key to finding the trout. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are in Sebastian and should heat up as the temperature drops. They are up to almost 10 lbs. You have to be patient to find them. In the inlet we see out of season Snook (Snook, Common) along with Reds and Tarpon when the weather pushes them in. Jigs during midday will work well. There should be plenty of action in the area. This time of year with the varying weather it’s all about figuring out how it will affect the fish. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below to reveal tons of information and tips to catch!

INSHORE – We are still seeing Trout (Seatrout, Spotted), Redfish (Drum, Red) and a few Flounder (Flounder, Southern). There is a majority of Sheepshead in the river. From the surf we are seeing Whiting, Pompano (Pompano, Florida), Sheepshead, Drum (Drum, Black), Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) and Bluefish. There hasn’t been much from offshore as the water is still kicked up a bit. Sebastian Inlet is holding Snook (Snook, Common) and Reds. Flounder are beginning to show up. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below for additional tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – The Kings (Mackerel, King) were good around the 90 ft ledge when the conditions were favorable. Trolling Clarkspoons was working well. When you can catch a weather window, you should be able to get into a few fish.

Palm Bay / Melbourne Fishing Report
INSHORE – The big draw this week is Sebastian inlet during the outgoing and incoming tides. You have to weed through smaller fish but there are plenty of slot Reds (Drum, Red) being caught. Bait, Bucktails and lures are all working well. Bucktails seem to be doing a little better though. We are seeing a fishable weekend ahead of us. Redfish are schooling up around the Pogies in the port. The occasional Cobia are mixed in. On the North side along the rocks and all throughout the port the Snook (Snook, Common) are biting. They are as good in the port as they are in Sebastian.
OFFSHORE – With all the East wind there will be plenty of debris for the Dolphin to hold up around this week once the weather clears up. Wahoo will also be biting around the blue water. Head for roughly 180-300 ft where the structure and ledges are. Push out till you find the color change and troll for them. Palmetto Lures have just arrived in our shop and are doing well. Islander and Wahoo Bombs are also productive. Blacks and Blues will be your best colors along with White or Pearl over Blue. Black over Orange also provides a good bite. The Kings (Mackerel, King) are biting as well. Bigger fish are coming from South of the area. The ones caught here and North are a bit smaller.
BAIT REPORT – Out of the port the Pogies (Menhaden) are in good numbers. Fish are all over them. Cigar Minnows, Ribbonfish and Bluerunners has been easy to get offshore as well. Bluerunners are on structure and to the East on reefs. They are in the clean water.

INSHORE – The Sheepshead bite has been great in the river. Search for them mid afternoon so the sun allows you to sight fish the pylons or find the big schools on the flats. Fiddler Crabs or live Sand Fleas work best. A lot of Redfish (Drum, Red) and good sized Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have been caught. As the cooler temperatures come in the Trout will get better. A popping cork with a DOA or live Shrimp works best in the early morning. Search the flats or shallower. Sebastian Inlet is producing a lot of Snook (Snook, Common) by the inlet. Drum (Drum, Black) are moving in along with the Sheepshead. There are also a lot of slot sized Redfish that are beginning to taper off as the Mullet leaves. It is still too rough to get offshore. Nighttime fishing has been plugs and jigs. The bite is pretty easy to get. There are tons of slot fish and not many over. There hasn’t been much word from the beaches as it has been windy. If you can fish the beach there are Bluefish biting. Sebastian inlet is producing keeper Reds, slot Snook (Snook, Common), Flounder (Flounder, Southern) and a few Trout. INSHORE – The inlet is going crazy this week despite the weather. Snook (Snook, Common) are hitting on Mojarra, Shrimp, Plugs and jigs at night. They aren’t very picky and the bite is solid. They are doing well during the day when the weather is overcast. Nighttime has been just as good. Look for the right tide, which changes week to week. The incoming is great in the day while the outgoing seems to be better at night. The wind will help the bite in the inlet. Tarpon, Redfish (Drum, Red) and Snook will all be fishing well. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – With this system pushing through most of Florida, we expect a lot of wind and tough conditions. Most of the fishing from last week should fire back up once the storm passes. Expect to see the rainfall cool off inshore waters. This will help some of the fish that prefer cooler conditions. Stay informed on all the coming weather systems using your Pro Angler App!

You can catch them with live Shrimp around mid day. Drum (Drum, Black) have also shown up. They are nice sizes so far in the causeway. They are taking live or dead Shrimp. The inlet is holding some Snook (Snook, Common) but it is closed. INSHORE – Nick from the Palm Bay area headed out to Indialantic and fished the beach this week. He hooked Tarpon, Sharks that were following the bait run. He even managed to snag a Bonito (Bonito, Little Tunny). Way to go, Nick! The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) has been great really early in the morning. Reds (Drum, Red) are on the docks and the lagoons. Cut bait is the best bet to hook them. They have been biting in the early morning as well. Snook (Snook, Common) is productive throughout the inlet. X-wraps and similar lures are most productive. Live bait is a never fail for all three species. Nearshore there is Tarpon on the beach swimming with the bait pods. They are up to 150 lbs from Sebastian to the Port. A bunch of Bonito (Bonita, Little Tunny) and Sharks are mixed in. On the reefs and ledges there is a great Kingfish (Mackerel, King) bite along with some Mangrove Snapper (Snapper, Gray) at night. They are right on the reef line.
OFFSHORE – The Dolphin bite is sporadic this week. The few that were caught were in 120 ft with live bait. Few Cobia have been caught as well. The water is really hot so it hasn’t been the greatest trolling conditions. The Grouper (Grouper, Gag) fishing in 150-180 ft has been good. Dropping live bait including Pogies is the best bet. We have even seen some Bonita (Bonito, Little Tunny) and Kings (Mackerel, King) turn up.
OFFSHORE – There is some great action for anglers heading offshore this week. Dolphin have finally shown up around 240 ft. There are a few Wahoo mixed in around the same range. There are some big Kings (Mackerel, King) that have been caught a bit closer around 60 ft. Cobia are slow this week. Big Mangroves (Snapper, Gray) have been caught on the 90 ft bar at night however most of the bottom bite is slow this week as not much is open.
BAIT REPORT – Greenies (Threadfins) have made their way to the beaches this week. The Central Florida Shootout is coming up! Contact Strike Zone Fishing for more details!

Palm Bay / Melbourne Fishing Report
INSHORE – There are floating fish everywhere in this area. We are not entirely sure how this happened but it is a surprise and disappointment for most anglers. The fishing is good first thing in the morning for Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) in the back however. Shrimp is working particularly well. Similar artificials such as a DOA are productive as well. The first hour of daylight is the best time to hit the water.
OFFSHORE – There is quite a bit of action from the offshore this week. Wahoo and Kings (Mackerel, King) are the main focus. Wahoo are from 80 – 140 ft and the Kings are at 60 ft. There are some scattered Dolphin that have been hanging around 160 ft. The sizes are smaller this week as far as the Dolphin are concerned. Anglers are pulling Ballyhoo to hook them.

INSHORE – The water is still very murky this week. Despite this there are plenty of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) this week. Live shrimp or similar artificials are working well. DOA or Savage are working particularly well. Tons of Pompano (Pompano, Florida), Drum (Drum, Black), Sheepshead, Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) and Croakers have shown up on the beach this week. The best time to fish them has been the early morning for the best bite.
OFFSHORE – Dolphin have been hitting lately way out. Cobia are following the Rays (Stingray, Southern) around the 60 ft. mark. The bottom is producing Snapper, Mutton and Snapper, Red. From 60 ft out we are seeing tons of Kings (Mackerel, King) as many as you can catch. Anglers are trolling large x-raps in all white. They are biting all day.

INSHORE – Snook, Common have been caught from the docks in the river this week. Reds (Drum, Red) and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are holding up on the flats. This is the focus for a lot of anglers. Tarpon have also shown up and the bite is pretty good. Sunrise and sunset have been the best time to be fishing so far this week. Live bait is never a fail as Mullet, Croaker, Pinfish and Crab have been working well. Soft plastics such as xraps or DOA lures have been productive.
OFFSHORE – Wahoo are showing up in great numbers this week. Dolphin and Cobia have also been caught and they are starting to heat up with the Spring patterns. They are holding up on the reefs and wrecks and the bite is consistent.
BAIT REPORT – Some Mullet have returned and can be caught this week. Strike Zone has a fantastic Sidewalk sale this weekend with Pro Staff in attendance. Stop in and check it out!

INSHORE – The beach has been doing great for Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) however the river is slow due to algae bloom. There are also some Pompano, Florida and a few Mackerel, Spanish on the beach. There are tons of Drum, Black going crazy in the surf on Shrimp and Clams. The sizes are huge this week. There are a few reports of Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) as well. They are fairly scattered though. We expect this to continue into the weekend.
OFFSHORE – There are some Cobia around 6 miles offshore that are hot this week. Anglers are finding a consistent bite within a mile even. Shrimp has been the key to hooking them. The sizes have been fairly good this area. There is also a report of Tripletail in the same area.

INSHORE – Things have been a bit slow due to the wind and dirty water lately. Trout and Snook (Snook, Common) are in the inlet this week. Sheepshead and Drum (Drum, Black) are on structure as well as the surf. The surf is also holding Pompano, Florida and Reds (Drum, Red) too however the bite is not as hot. There has been quite a bit of fresh water mixed into the system as of late so it has really slowed fishing down.
OFFSHORE – Cobia are turning up in the offshore. Anglers are throwing Savage Eels. They have been anywhere from a mile to 6 miles off. We expect to see this continue into the weekend.

OFFSHORE – There may still be a scattered Dolphin and Tuna, Yellowfin bite. The weather has been a bit rough so when anglers can find breaks they are heading out. We expect some nicer weather for the upcoming weekend. We expect more reports at that time.

INSHORE – The Snook, Common have finally opened up now so anglers are targeting them inshore. The surf is holding a great Pompano, Florida bite which is heating up this week. Pompano rigs, frozen Shrimp, Sand Fleas or clams can all be used to hook them.
OFFSHORE – Anglers that can find breaks in the unfavorable weather are finding some Rays and Cobia scattered north of the port. The sizes are fair and they are scattered throughout the vessels as well as on the reefs. The winds have moved dirty water out to the offshore so angler head farther out to hook tons of Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) mixed with Tuna, Blackin. The Dolphin and Wahoo bite has been scattered but is still present for anglers who put their time in.

INSHORE – Pompano, Florida are hot! They are all over the surf and can be caught on Clams, Sand Fleas and dead Shrimp. Snook, Common are now open and there has been a good bite to start. Pinfish have been a great bait to be throwing if you are targeting them this week. The main focus has been the Pompano since they are on fire. There have been no reports of Sheepshead yet this week.
OFFSHORE – There is a sporadic Dolphin bite to be found in the offshore around 120 ft now that the weather is clearing up. They can be found as far as 1000 ft out. Cobia has been hitting pretty good on the reefs from 20-30 miles. The Savage Gear eel works well along with Crabs. A bucktail with an eel tail is a great alternative as the Cobia really aren’t picky.

INSHORE – There has been a solid Sheepshead bite this week which is the main target for most anglers so far. They are on structures such as bridges, docks and rock pilings. Fiddler crabs are working but are difficult to come by so most people are throwing Sand Fleas this week. There have also been some Drum, Black and nice Pompano, Florida swimming. The Pompano are on the beach and in the river. Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) are also in the surf and are coming up in consistent numbers. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) are showing up at Pineda Causeway however they are a bit spotty due to the weather. They are schooling up in shallow water holes so once you find them you should be able to hook a few.
OFFSHORE – When you can get to the offshore to the other side of the gulf stream anglers are loading up on Tuna, Yellowfin and big Mahi (Dolphin). This is roughly 100 miles out for anglers. The Mahi are up to 30 lbs while the Yellowfin are great sizes too.

INSHORE – The surf has been full of Pompano, Florida and Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) this week and they can be caught on fresh, dead Shrimp, live Clams and Fish Bites. They are hungry and not picky. The Sebastian inlet has a great mixed bag of fish including Drum (Drum, Black) that can be caught on fresh, dead Shrimp or clams. There has also been reports of Reds (Drum, Red) and Snook, Common that are loving any live bait or bucktails. The Flounder (Flounder, Gulf & Flounder, Southern) that are swimming are beginning to become spotty however the sizes are still good. They are loving live Mud Minnows and can be found on the inside with the Reds, Snook and Drum. Mackerel, Spanish and Bluefish are mixed in the area as well. Blues are loving spoons while Mackerel are chasing casting jigs. There are lots of fish to be found in this area so far this week.

INSHORE – There are quite a bit of Drum, Black hitting throughout the inshore. They are coming up in great numbers. Sheepshead are doing well on Fiddler Crabs as well as Sand Fleas and even cut Shrimp. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) bite has been on fire lately as well in between Melbourne and the Causeway around the docks. The marshes are turning up with great sizes as well. The Surf is producing a great Pompano, Florida bite and it gets better the farther South you go. There are Whiting (Kingfish, Northern & Kingfish, Southern) hitting up towards the North but the bite is not hot. There are some Flounder (Flounder, Southern & Flounder, Gulf) turning up around Sebastian. The bite is not hot but the fish are big where you can find them. Anglers hope the weather will improve soon so they can get out and fish.
OFFSHORE – Tuna, Yellowfin are biting around the 120 buoy. There were also some great catches of Mahi (Dolphin) turning up in great numbers. Snapper, Lane are being caught on cut Shrimp or Squid in roughly 60 ft of water as well. The weather has been rough out there however so most anglers are staying inside.

INSHORE – It has been windy in the area lately so there are not a ton of people heading out this week. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) bite has been solid so far, especially now that the temperature has dropped slightly. Snook, Common are biting around the docks this week. The daytime bite is the most productive from the morning to afternoon. They are loving anything live. Big Reds (Drum, Red) are turning up near Sebastian on topwater lures and live bait. Snook also have a great bite in this area however they are more productive at night on bucktails or plugs.
OFFSHORE – There is quite a bit of action from the offshore this week. Wahoo are being caught by the cones around the 220-240ft range along with some scattered Mahi (Dolphin) that have been decent sizes. There is also a ton of Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) so far that are loving Ballyhoo. Kingfish (Mackerel, Kings) have been swimming the reefs. They are smaller sizes but once the cooler water temperatures come in they are expected to increase in size and number.

INSHORE – There is a spotty Drum, Black bite in the inlet. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are slow so far due to the unseasonably warm weather. The upcoming cold front this weekend should turn them on. Flounder (Flounder, Southern & Flounder, Gulf) have been trickling into the area however are still spotty at this point. The weekend cold should trigger everything to fire up. The surf has been doing well for anglers who can find water away from the wind. Bluefish, Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) and Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are all swimming and waiting to be caught on Mullet. Capt. Mullet’s Bait & Tackle is your best source for fishing knowledge with hundreds of years of knowledge combined.
OFFSHORE – Though the weather has made it difficult to hit the water this week there is still a great Mahi (Dolphin) bite in the deep water so far. When anglers can get out they have had no trouble reeling them in with lures in dark colors. There is also expected to be a great Tuna, Yellowfin bite by the buoys this week. Since the temperature has remained warm they have not yet moved out for the season.

INSHORE – There are plenty of Snook, Common in the flats and the docks this week. They are doing well and coming up in decent sizes so far. There are also reports of a decent Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) bite on artificial Shrimp. The most targeted fish this week has been the Flounder (Flounder, Southern & Flounder, Gulf). They are towards the inlet and now is their best time. Anglers can’t go wrong with a short leader and a Finger Mullet. Artificials such as gulp, a short swimming Mullet or Shrimp on a jighead are great alternatives bounced off the bottom. The bite is hot on the inshore.
OFFSHORE – The winter has been great for Wahoo. They are out there, you just have to get out. There has also been a thick Grouper, Gag big mixed with some Snapper, Gray off the bottom. Some anglers are throwing Mahi (Dolphin) baits as they are out there too, but a bit more spotty. Dark colors such as red/black or purple/black are working extremely well at the 120 ft mark. The Mahi have been reported even closer at 90 ft. There is plenty of fish to catch in the offshore.
BAIT REPORT – Finger Mullet are off the beaches as well as towards the inlets and boat ramps this week. They are working well inshore. Lot of great last minute deals on select merchandise at Strike-Zone Fishing, just in time for the Holidays!

INSHORE – There are tons of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) in the area this week. They are hitting gulp Shrimp rigged up weedless and anglers have been throwing this in the sand pockets between the grass. DOA Shrimp on a popping cork have been producing as well. There is no specific time of day to fish, anglers have been catching all day. There have also been some Reds (Drum, Red) swimming with some Drum (Drum, Black) on the flats. In the nearshore Tripletail and Cobia have shown up just off the beach, between 1-5 miles offshore. Trips are hanging around the buoys and weeds eating live Shrimp or similar artificials. The Cobia are free swimming in roughly the same areas while turning up for anglers throwing Pinfish.

INSHORE – There is still some Snook, Common to be caught in and around the docks and mangroves this week. They are open until December 15th so lots of anglers have been heading out to get their fill. Live bait has been the best choice this week. DOAs or paddle tails are also great as they allow the angler to mix and match colors. Overall, you can’t go wrong with live bait though. There are some spotty Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) that are hitting these baits as well however they do not have a consistent bite this week. Atleast the sizes are getting better. The tides haven’t made a difference and the inlets seem to be good place to fish.
OFFSHORE – When the weather is cooperating and anglers can make it to the offshore there has been a pretty solid Wahoo bite this week. They have been holding around the 120 ft mark. High speed trolling marauders or wahoo bombs have been very productive. Dark colors are the preference this week in red/black, purple or blue/white. Anything flashy and dark has shown productivity however.
BAIT REPORT – There is a lot of bait by the buoys this week. Sardines in smaller sizes are showing up here as well as some Porgy in Port Canaveral. Like always, Strike-Zone Fishing has some great sales on and it’s a great time to grab something for that special angler this year.

INSHORE – Fishing has been decent in this area, however more towards Sebastian region. The Reds (Drum, Red) and Snook, Common are hitting bucktails on the outgoing tide. They have been pretty hot and quite easy to catch being so plentiful. Drum (Drum, Black) have been going after clams and are not quite as thick as the Reds. Flounder (Flounder, Southern & Flounder, Gulf) have made their way back inside and are starting to turn on. They are coming up in good sizes and the bite is expected to continue into the winter. Small Finger Mullet are the bait of choice for anglers who can get their hands on some.
OFFSHORE – The nasty weather conditions has had this area pretty torn up this week. Anglers have decided to stay inshore or inside. INSHORE – There is quite a bit of action on the inshore this week. Tons and tons of Drum (Drum, Black) have been biting in this area. There has also been a steady Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) bite around Pinetta. A small Finger Mullet or decent sized Shrimp under a cork will hook a large Trout around the docks. Sheepshead have been hitting Fiddler Crabs as usual. The Flounder (Flounder, Gulf & Flounder, Southern) have finally turned on in the gulf. They have been coming up in good sizes and based on their roe the decent bite will continue into the winter. They are loving small Finger Mullet as well.
OFFSHORE – The unfavorable weather in this area has deterred most anglers from heading out this week. Wind, rain, and the cold front have made offshore fishing extremely challenging so most people have not made it on the water. There were a few reports of Billfish – Swordfish out of Port Canaveral however our sources say there were coming up short. Fort Pierce saw some Dolphin as well but most anglers are saying the conditions are not worth taking on. If the weather settles down and boaters decide to head out on the water for the holiday they can always check out our Tips feature which provides additional information and suggestions to help improve the catch.
BAIT REPORT – Sporadic Finger Mullet are running however it is hard to find the specific sizes as they are all pretty mixed. Once it cools down they will move into the canals.

INSHORE – In the back canals inshore fishermen have been reporting some huge Reds (Drum, Red) using cut bait and artificials. Live bait, of course, is always a great choice for this area and is working well. Snook, Common and Seatrout, Spotted are hitting under the main roads and on the docks. They are loving the slight temperature drop and have started to become more active. If anglers are using artificials they should stick to natural colors. The fish are a little tough to fool lately so the more natural the better. Mullet are also running along with some Pinfish. Tarpon are biting off the beach as they chase the running bait. Nearshore is housing some Cobia however they are spotty and not biting for anyone. OFFSHORE – There are a lot of Dolphin and Wahoo offshore this week. Anglers have been trying their best to get out and troll despite the unfavorable weather. 120 ft has been the most effective range however reports have come in anywhere from 90-300 ft. Blue/white, green/yellow or Purple/red have been good colors. The Wahoo are preferring the darker colors. Anglers can also opt to pull Ballyhoo naked as one can’t go wrong with a more natural appeal. For anyone high speed trolling dark marauders or Wahoo bombs are very effective. BAIT REPORT – The Mullet and Pinfish are so thick live baiters could walk on them. There is definitely no shortage in this area. Strike-Zone Fishing 321-956-3474November 13, 2015

INSHORE – There is a lot of action close to shore right now. Drum, Black are on fire right now in the rivers as they chase after Shrimp and cut Clams. Anglers have also reported a nice Pompano, Florida bite increasing in the surf. Snook, Common have also been turning up on the beach for anglers using live Finger Mullet. Anyone fishing the docks and structures around Grant can expect to see lots of Reds (Drum, Red) and Flounder, Southern both chasing decent sized Shrimp. OFFSHORE – The seas have been pretty foul as of late so it has been difficult for anglers to get offshore. When the seas lay down they have been seeing the occasional Dolphin that are loving skirted Ballyhoo. There are no bottom fishing reports at this time and there are also no Wahoo to be found at this time. BAIT REPORT – There are no bait running to report at this time. INSHORE – There have been a mixed bag of fish in the shallower water. Seatrout, Spotted, Drum, Red, Snook, Common and Drum, Black are all hitting live Shrimp and Finger Mullet. OFFSHORE – Anglers are trolling in the deeper water anywhere from 10 miles and out are hooking Kings (Mackerel, King) and Dolphin. The Kings are chasing spoons and Dolphin are loving skirted Ballyhoo. There have been no reports of bottom fishing at this time. BAIT REPORT – The Mullet are running in the river and are working well with inshore fish. Black Dog Bait and Tackle 321-725-1200Melbourne / Palm Bay Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – The reefs and wrecks are safe from anglers lately as conditions have been way too rough to get out on the water. No one has been taking on the conditions this week and although the rain should die down in the next few days the wind is expected to continue on for several weeks. There have been no reports at this time so we are anxiously awaiting improved weather.
INSHORE – There has been some action from Snook (Snook, Common) in keeper sizes. The outgoing tide has anglers mostly bucktailing or throwing windcheaters. There are some people using bait such as Mullet since they are so thick right now, but some of the Mullet imitations are also doing well. Tides have brought in some good Reds (Drum, Red) using topwaters and jigging with a paddle tail. Early morning is the best time to be out there for Reds. Our sources have also reported Flounder, Gulf, a little farther up and there are some good sizes being caught using Finger Mullet. Anglers are also still fishing the surf for Ladyfish, Bluefish and Mackerel. Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are continuing to chase spoons and Clams as well.
BAIT REPORT – Mullet are very thick in most places and a lot of inshore fish are hungry for them so now is a good time to stock up!

Melbourne / Palm Bay Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – It’s no surprise the offshore fishing is weak as wind is making conditions difficult for anglers to get out on the water. We’re seeing an average 6-8 ft. seas. Anyone who does brave the weather is reeling in some Dolphin but this is very spotty as the weeds are really scattered. We are really hoping for calmer conditions over the weekend so the offshore can improve.
INSHORE – Similar to offshore, the beaches have been rough once again making fishing a challenge for most anglers. Snook have been reported in the surf before the winds started to pick up so it may still be out there if you can find a break in the weather. We are seeing Flounder and Pompano in the surf as well seeking out the running Mullet. It has been a rough few days but there are some Black Drum, Sheepshead, Mangrove Snapper, and Redfish hiding around the docks. Finger Mullet are working particularly well with the Redfish in the intercoastal. When the conditions calm down there will be some great fishing inshore along the beaches.
BAIT REPORT – Despite the weather, Mullet are running up and down the beaches in pods and even throughout the intercoastal. Should you decide to take on the harsh winds you’ll easily be able to find some bait to bomb a net to.

OFFSHORE – The Dolphin and the Wahoo have been a little scattered out there. Wahoo are being caught in about 120 ft. of water while the Dolphin have been reported in about 250 ft. Islander like trolling gear and Ballyhoo are still pretty productive with not a lot of guys throwing naked bait. The bottom fishing in around 90ft of water is being pretty productive for Snapper. Live Greenbacks are working well and so are Pinfish. INSHORE – The Mullet run has cranked up some action around here. Anywhere the Mullet are, the Snook and Redfish are right there too. Look to seawalls, docks/piers, and for schools of Mullet and you’ll find some gamefish. BAIT REPORT – Mullet are running fairly thick right now and can be found along inshore structures, jetties, and beaches. OFFSHORE – The fishing has been reportedly sporadic here. The cold upwelling has been a bit of an obstacle and once the weather patterns change, things will pick up.
INSHORE – Snook is OPEN and they’re getting some in the surf. In the surf they’re hitting live baitfish. Croaker are working well for the Snook along with Mullet. A little further south they’re hitting Shrimp pretty hard. There’s some really good Mangrove Snapper fishing in the river system. They’re readily taking Shrimp and small baitfish. As the baitfish run picks up, expect to see it bring more fish in for the fall fishing. From here on out, the fishing is only going to improve.
BAIT REPORT – Finger Mullet are starting to show up here. They will start running heavier as the month progresses.

OFFSHORE – It has been stormy this week and not many people are going out right now because there are 3-4 foot swells. If you do plan on going out remember to keep an eye out for afternoon storms. The fishing is also not very good, you are going to want to stay in 90 foot or less. Perhaps it is the bad weather, but there has been few reports offshore and the fishing seems shut down.INSHORE – Inshore fishing is picking up and the river fishing for Mangrove Snapper is great. There is also a early morning and later afternoon trout bite. There are lots of Tarpon and Sharks out in the surf, and Snook opens up in a few day. You want to use live bait, Pinfish, Pigfish, Finger Mullet, etc. The Finger Mullet are a little small and it will be a few more weeks before you can net them. The Shrimp are getting bigger, but they are not huge.
BAIT REPORT – Bait is around but it is still small; mostly Shrimp and Finger Mullet.

OFFSHORE – The cold water uprising coupled with the fact the inshore fishing has been really on fire has kept a lot of anglers tight to shore. The guys over at Black Dog Bait and Tackle say they haven’t had many reports from offshore for this very reason.INSHORE – Spanish Mackerel and Bonita are blowing up the Glass Minnows in close. Live lining any of the bait caught in the surf by using a net or Sabiki rig is a great way to catch some of the Tarpon charging around the beaches. There have been some very big Tarpon around and the kayak fishing has been great as well.
BAIT REPORT – Glass minnows, Pogies, and Greenies are still around. Mullet are starting to run the beach now. Anglers are having no issues catching lots of bait whether using a net or a Sabiki rig.

Offshore – The offshore fishing is still coming in to prime. There’s not a ton of blue water fishing reports to be had as the inshore fishing is hot right now. If you’re determined to get out there, purple and black lures along with anything that kicks the water around could yield some Wahoo.Inshore- The Kingfish bite has been pretty hot and they have absolutely no problem hitting Mullet both trolled and live lined. If you happen to be out trolling around the inshore, expect to have Tarpon getting on the Mullet as well. Sharks have been picked up intermittently while trolling Mullet as well. Bottom fishing Grouper has also turned on in the 40-60ft. depths. But you will have to head to 100+ feet.
Bait- There’s lots of Mullet on the beaches and shores. You can also find and catch them in the bite too.
Strike-Zone has lots of in-store specials on right now. Drop by or visit them on the web!

Palm Bay / Melbourne Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – Things are messed up right now. Further out the water is warmer and the fishing is good. Some people are catching Dolphin in 260 feet of water, not often mind you, but it is happening. There are wahoo if you want to go for a deeper troll. Amberjacks are suspended off the reef, normally 20 feet above, and if you drop down a butterfly jig you should be able to make quick work of them.INSHORE – Jason at Capt Mullets Bait & Tackle was telling me that he was doing well on Mangrove Snapper fishing around any kind of structure. The Redfish are also all over the Banana River. There are Snook close in with lots of them on the beaches mixed in with the Tarpon. There is also a good showing of Whiting in the surf along the beaches.
BAIT REPORT – Off the beach there is lots of bait, Alex saw 10-12 schools last night. Try to catch bait in the evening because they hide during the day. Anytime after 6:00 pm is going to be prime time for bait fish.
Both stores are known for their great customer service and their wide selection, so swing by and say hi.

Palm Bay / Melbourne Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – The weedlines are scattered out there and it is a lot of work to located a good one. But if you do there are Wahoo and Dolphin out there. People are catching more Wahoo than anything else right now which is nice. Purple and black trolling lures always draw them out.INSHORE – The main fish hitting right now according to Greg over at Elite Angler’s Services are the Trout, Mangroves, and Snook. The best fishing right now is down by the islands. The Snook are also thick near the beach and you don’t have to go far out to catch a big fish. Live Shrimp is your best bait, full stop.
BAIT REPORT – There is bait around. The Mullet are about two inches right now, and are just not big enough to use as bait. But soon my friends, soon. The Pinfish are around and they make a great bait for the Tarpon in the creeks, but most of those are juvenile. There are some bigger Tarpon on the beach that you could try for.

Palm Bay / Melbourne Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – Jason over at Capt Mullets Bait & Tackle went bottom fishing and the thermocline across the bottom has just shut the bottom fishing down. He says what you want to do is run north, you don’t need to be early, go like 10 o’clock and go north of Port Canaveral, in about 50-60 feet of water they are getting cobia. Bait is also really quite thick up there. Just be wary of the west wind and the cold water that it brings.INSHORE – Mangrove snapper biting all day long around the bridges, piers, and structures. Trout is biting early in the morning and late at night. Redfish are pretty much everywhere all day long. In the surf there are lots of Tarpon, Shark, Snook, and Whiting. They are biting well on live Shrimp and Fiddler Crab. Live Pinfish and Pigfish will be rolling into their bait shop this weekend.
BAIT REPORT – There is baitfish around.

Palm Bay / Melbourne Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – It is summer time so there is Dolphin out here. The fishing is kind of sporadic right now though. There isn’t one spot in particular that is on fire every day. Dolphin will be on the weedlines but the wind decides where the weedlines are. Some cobia has been caught too, so keep your eyes open for them. Bottom fishing is pretty unattractive right now because we don’t get a Red Snapper season, and it is hard to get to the Grouper or Mangrove Snapper down there without hooking one of the Endangered ones. That being said Grouper has a decent bite if you want to risk playing catch and release all day.INSHORE – Inner shore is kind of hit or miss too. There is a thermocline started so fish that. Tarpon is there too, but the hard part is getting them to bite. We are winding down because most of the fish have migrated. Generally tarpon are feeding on Shrimp early in the morning or late at night when there is a tide moving. However, the Tarpon this time of year are more responsive to Glass Minnows and Crabs. A lot of guys are throwing artificials, silver spoons, bucktails, or anything that imitates a glass minnow. Fishing from the beach is probably just as good as fishing from a boat right now, so if you want to save yourself the gas then fish with a heavier weight so that you can throw your line good and far. Diving plugs work too. There is also Snook around, however, the Snook season is closed but people are still catching and releasing them on the beach. Sebastian inlet is producing big Redfish right now if you want to give that a go.
BAIT REPORT – Glass minnows are thick on the beach. Offshore there are Threadfins. It shouldn’t be too hard to find either of those if you want bait, however, if you want Pogies they haven’t been around yet so don’t waste your time looking for them.
Strike-Zone Fishing does reel and rod repair. They also have a ton of Ballyhoo so they are sitting good on offshore bait despite the relatively tight Ballyhoo situation. They have a good selection of small, medium, and large – some good looking bait and I would definitely check them out if I was going offshore. If you don’t care for Ballyhoo then it is still worth your time to swing by and pick their brains about how to tackle the inshore.

Melbourne / Palm Bay Fishing Report
OFFSHORE- Offshore fishing has been pretty slow lately. It is best to stick with inshore for now. INSHORE– There are lots of Snook in the Inlet and all over the beaches. On the beach you’ll also find Redfish and Tarpon as well as Jacks, Bonita and Whiting. They are really good on the high tide especially two hours before and after. They are biting well on live bait but you can also use Bombers for the Tarpon.
BAIT– There are lots of Menhaden around and Mullet in the river.

Melbourne / Palm Bay Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – Kind of slow. Bottom has been good. Pelagic are slow, few wahoo (good wahoo if anything) few dolphin. 80-120 feet.INSHORE – In the river you’ll find Snapper, Drum, Redfish, Snook and Trout. Here they are biting well on Shrimp and Clams. Early in the morning or late at night you’ll be able to get away with DOA Shrimp or a topwater plug. Trout are particularly active around the grass beds and islands. Snook are on the beach but there are even more of them in the river near the mangroves.
BAIT REPORT – There is bait everywhere in the inlet. There are FInger Mullet, Pinfish, Pigfish and Pilchards.

Palm Bay / Sebastian Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – The Dolphin are pretty heavy out there so as always troll some Ballyhoo and you’ll find them. If you head up to the Port the King Mackerel are hitting Triple Tail. You’ll find them under anything that floats. You can also try trolling for Kingfish with some Pogy. Troll slow or drift over a reef to find these fish. If bottom fishing is more your style try for Cobia on a jig with a plastic eel tail.INSHORE – In Sebastian Inlet the bite is good for Mangrove Snapper, Sheepshead and Snook. However, Snook season just closed so you can’t keep them. Sheepshead have been biting well on Fiddler Crabs and the Snook will take the biggest shrimp you can get. In there you’ll also find Redfish and some big Jacks. For these fish you’ll want to use cut bait. Christopher over at Black Dog Bait and Tackle is seeing Goliath Grouper around and eating entire Snook! The best time to fish the Sebastian Inlet is at the Beginning of the outgoing tide and the end of the high.If fishing off the beach is more your forte you’ll find some big Tarpon off the beach.
BAIT REPORT – There are lots of Mahara around and a light amount of Pinfish. Finger Mullet have been significantly slower than in the last couple weeks but there are still some around.
Black Dog Bait and Tackle Covers surf and inshore fishing as well as jetti fishing, give them a call daily from 5am – 10pm.
