Description
The Pigfish is a thicker fish with a sloped face and set back eyes. They gather their name from their piggish nose. Their coloration ranges from a bluish grey with bronze or lighter brown splotches on their sides. Often times they can have bronze spots on their gills as well.
Habitat & Behaviour
Pigfish make their home in coastal waters often being found over muddy or sandy bottoms. They can be found in schools and feed mostly during the night time. When spawning Pigfish move into estuaries and other coastal features.
Natural Prey
Pigfish dine on a diet of crustaceans, small fish and the occasional mollusk.
