Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – Things are firing up and anglers are hitting the water! The Speckled Trout bite has been good as they work their way out of the rivers and creeks while the water warms up. They are swimming the lower bay and passes. The intracoastal waterway is still really good and down into big Lagoon while you work your way into Florida is holding fish on the grass beds. Flounder are picking up but they aren’t red hot yet. Redfish are doing well into this week. The upper bay through creek mouths, intracoastal and mouths of the rivers has been good. Off the beach the Pompano (Pompano, Florida) and Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) are solid. Sheepshead have slowed down as temperatures increase and the spawn comes to an end. Kings (Mackerel, King) and Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) are plentiful off the beaches. Spanish are running the passes in the morning. Troll for them up and down the beach. The Kings are decent sizes and are expected to increase. The Cobia bite is early this year and is great in terms of size and numbers. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) are solid in Mobile to Fort. Morgan. They are holding up on structure. It’s still a bit early for Tripletail. With all the fronts the water is a bit messy in the bay but is still easily fishable. Water quality and conditions are decent. Rains will push the Trout out of the creeks. Warmer water helps this along so fishing structure is best. The sizes are decent. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

BAIT REPORT – Most anglers are staying inshore since the waters are so rough.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – The intracoastal is holding a hot Sheepshead bite during the day. Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have moved in as well. Soft artificials worked slow in the deep holes is the best method to catch them. Vudu Shrimp has produced well. On the beach the Pompano (Pompano, Florida) and Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) bite has been outstanding on Fishbites, Shrimp or Ghost Shrimp. Spanish can be caught on the troll along the beach. Spoons and dusters are best however most are small fish. Cobia have started to the East, they are up to 80 pounds. This is a great sign as water temperatures increase. Redfish (Drum, Red) are swimming Dixey Bar. They are mixed with Sheepshead and can be caught from boats. There are no signs of Trout around the gas rigs. OFFSHORE – The weather has been making the Tuna (Tuna, Yellowfin) bite tough. You can find them when you are able to head out on a 1-2 day trip. Chunking has been most productive although a few are being caught trolling.

BAIT REPORT – Menhaden have begun to show up off the beach and around Terry Cove. Even Pinfish are showing up at the docks again. You can trap or chum for them.

INSHORE – Sheepshead are starting to spawn as they feed on live Shrimp during the day. You can find two of them chasing the fish you catch around the jetties, bridges and closer wrecks. They can be anywhere from 4 to 10 pounds depending on where you fish. The Redfish (Drum, Red) are a bit sporadic the past few weeks. A few Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) have come in taking live Shrimp under a cork or free lining on the inshore reefs. Mangrove Snapper (Snapper, Gray) are still around however Pompano are just beginning to show up along the beaches and jetties. They can be found in both dirty and clean water. INSHORE – Jetties and the pass are producing Flounder (Flounder, Southern) and Sheepshead. Reds (Drum, Red) are on top. On the calm days they are in Mobile Bay as well. Jigs cast at schools near the surface are doing well, especially if there’s Glass Minnows. A new wave of Sheepshead has moved in which is encouraging. A handful of Pompano (Pompano, Florida) have arrived. The Sheepshead are the hot ticket, and you can fish them on structure during tougher days when the Reds don’t cooperate. Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – We are beginning to see an early Spring bite fire up this week! Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are beginning to move around in Wolf Bay and Terry Cove. Live bait to small topwater floaters will work well to hook them. Redfish (Drum, Red) have been hot taking live or artificial Finger Mullet and curly tails. Sheepshead are hit or miss from day to day. They should be spawning soon and will bite again before the water warms up and they head out. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are biting off the state pier. They have just arrived back in and we expect the numbers and sizes to increase. They are mainly preferring artificials along with small Bull Minnows. Pearl white with a curly tail and half ounce jig head is great overall however Root Beer with gold Sparkle is the best off the pier. Pompano (Pompano, Florida) is hit or miss but they will heat up within the next few weeks. Pier fishing products will be on sale for the annual tent sale coming up in just a few weeks! INSHORE – In Perdido Pass (or Alabama Point) we are finding Sheepshead on structure as usual. There are also Redfish (Drum, Red) turning up. Mostly everything is around the jetty, pass and bridge and not too far into the bay. Live Shrimp is the ticket. Sheepshead are up to 8 pounds while Reds are up to 14 lbs. A Carolina Rig with live bait is your best setup. We expect the Sheepshead to move out fairly quickly with all the recent warm weather. A few Mangrove Snapper (Snapper, Gray) are surprisingly still around. They are an unusual catch for this time of year. Pompano (Pompano, Florida) and Permit are hanging around the surf. You can sight fish them around the jetties using live Shrimp during the day. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – The Speck (Seatrout, Spotted) bite has been really good on the North side of Wolf bay. There has been some nice fish caught in Bon Secour River. Artificials on a 1 knot troll has been best. Most of the trolled fish have been in 8-20 ft of water. They have made the move out as the temperature warms up. Redfish (Drum, Red) and Sheepshead have been great as well. They are biting around Fort Morgan, Sand Island, the Lighthouse and all the Gas Rigs using live Shrimp or Fiddler Crabs. Bull Reds are biting on a lot of the Southern oyster bars. This is about 2 miles out of the pass. Live Mullet or artificial grubs will work to hook them. Sam’s Bait and Tackle is loaded with product for the Spring fishing season! PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – Tuna (Tuna, Yellowfin) and Wahoo are great offshore around the deeper rigs. The Salt Domes or the Horseshoe rigs to the Southwest are producing on the chunk or troll. High speed troll for the Wahoo, then stop to chunk for Tuna when you see topwater action.

BAIT REPORT – We are seeing a good bit of Finger Mullet return. A few Alewives are mixed in. In the next few weeks we will see a substantial bait increase.

INSHORE – The Sheepshead are big and biting around the bridge and jetties this week. They will bite any time of day on Fiddler Crabs or Shrimp. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are very in and out. Look for deeper holes with structure. Trout and Redfish (Drum, Red) are also caught at the bridge. Reds can even be found in the backwater around the docks during a moving tide. The slack tide is tough. Trout and Reds are taking live Shrimp as there aren’t a lot of live bait swimming. YoZuri Spooks and MirrOlures are good artificial alternatives. White tailed artificials on a red jighead worked slow has been productive. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – Anglers have been doing well on Sheepshead and Redfish (Drum, Red) around the jetties in the pass area. Things are just beginning to pick up after the recent weather systems. Permit are surprisingly being caught around the pass as well. Specks and Sheepshead are swimming with them. The afternoon moving tide is the focus for a majority of anglers this week. In the ICW we are seeing decent catches of Sheepshead with some Redfish mixed in. Throughout the veins anglers are finding Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). There hasn’t been a lot of pressure in this area as of late. A lot of anglers are putting time in around the pass. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – There hasn’t been a lot of anglers heading offshore with the recent weather. The upcoming system isn’t going to help either. We hope to see anglers hitting the water soon when conditions are a bit more favorable.

INSHORE – Inshore in the afternoon, fishing the incoming tide is producing Redfish (Drum, Red), Sheepshead and nice Pompano (Pompano, Florida). Roughly 1pm is the best time to head out. The water temperatures are warm so the bite has been great, especially on live Shrimp or Fiddler Crabs. The pass, jetties and under the bridge are the key areas. In Fish River around the mouth towards Mobile Bay the Speck (Seatrout, Spotted) bite is fantastic as well. Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – If you are fishing the Perdido Pass around Alabama Point and Orange beach we are seeing Redfish (Drum, Red) on the bottom around the bridge. Get right down to the bottom using Shrimp during a moving tide. Sheepshead are there as well on the bottom. Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted), White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) and Black Snapper (Snapper, Gray) are in the deeper areas of Mobile Bay with structure such as reefs and concrete pilings. Trout are in 10-14 ft holes. They haven’t moved all the way up and with the good weather they are here. You can catch a good variety. Towards Fort Morgan the gas platforms are holding Sheepshead. There are huge sizes caught on the current. Search behind the poles as the fish avoid the current. The close platforms outside the gulf are covered in Sheepshead and Reds. Shrimp and Fiddler Crabs will hook them. Brown Shrimp is a good bait to bring with you. The pass around the jetties are holding Pompano (Pompano, Florida) that are taking Shrimp on a Pompano jig. It’s sometimes a bit rough to get out there. Top Gun Tackle has tons of great live bait this week! PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – The Tuna (Tuna, Yellowfin) bite is consistent when you can get out around the rigs this week. Petronas out to the Drillships has been a productive area. A lot of anglers are chunking hook them using live bait. You can certainly catch a few on the troll as well. A few nice Wahoo are being caught on the way in around the shelf. INSHORE – The Redfish (Drum, Red) and Sheepshead are continuing to bite into this week. Fiddler Crabs and live Shrimp are the key to hooking the Sheepshead. Tensaw River is a hot area to find the Reds while the Sheepshead are in the pass and holding up on structure. The Flounder (Flounder, Southern) bite is just about gone however you may see some stragglers around. A few White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) have still been caught in Terry Harbor. INSHORE – The wind has kept anglers inshore this week. We are seeing Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) in Mobile Bay and the Tensaw River area. The Flounder (Flounder, Southern) bite is slow. Sheepshead are great in the pass on Fiddler Crabs and live Shrimp. The Redfish (Drum, Red) will also continue to be caught. They are the best bite along with Sheepshead. Terry Cove Harbor is holding some great White Trout (Seatrout, Sand). They love small, artificial, white Grubs.

OFFSHORE – Once anglers can get offshore they can head to the rigs offshore for an incredible Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin & Tuna, Yellowfin) bite. They will have had no pressure on them lately. Chunk during the day for an easy bite.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – We are still seeing Redfish (Drum, Red) this week. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are slowing down. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are moving into the creeks. There are still good numbers in the ICW. Sheepshead have shown up in decent numbers. Shrimp and Sand Fleas are doing well as Fiddler Crabs have been difficult to find. Big Reds are thick in the pass and off the beaches. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – This week you’ll have to head farther out to find keeper fish. 20 Miles out we are seeing catch and release Gags as well as Red and Scamp Grouper (Grouper, Gag & Grouper, Red & Grouper, Scamp). You can also deep drop for Vermillion Snapper (Snapper, Vermillion). Tuna (Tuna, Yellowfin & Tuna, Blackfin) are solid however they are much farther out. Blackfin are a bit closer than the Yellowfin. Yellowfin are being caught in a variety of ways. Trolling, chunking, live baiting and kite fishing has been producing although chunking is best. We are looking 85 plus miles out. Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – The terrible weather has not stopped anglers from catching the White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) this week. Most anglers have been heading around back to get some shelter from the wind. The Redfish (Drum, Red) bite has been decent however the challenge is getting out on the flats to be able to do it. Old River has been holding some nice Trout. They tend to pick up at this time of year. It’s still a bit early for Sheepshead and Flounder (Flounder, Southern). Up in Bon Secour River the bite is good for Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds. The bay is pretty torn up into this week. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

INSHORE – Pompano (Pompano, Florida) have shown up around the jetties. The Flounder (Flounder, Southern) bite has been on as well. They are swimming in the passes and troughs. The regular Redfish (Drum, Red) and Drum (Drum, Black) continue to turn up into this week. Reds are hitting small Pogies under corks. In the rivers we are fishing under popping corks about 12 inches under the surface as the river bottoms are mainly mud. The Bull Reds are cruising and hitting on the top. With the recent lack of rain the salinity is still surprisingly good. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) are just about anywhere in the rivers. The rivers are the most productive areas this week. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – Before the recent weather there was some Tuna (Tuna, Yellowfin) caught around the floating rigs. Wahoo should still be doing well around the nipple once the wind settles. The water temperatures are ideal for them and this is always a great time of year for Wahoo fishing.

Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are working their way through the passes. The upcoming front will help jumpstart this process. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are in transition. Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – We are heading well North of Orange Beach for the best bite. We are seeing some nice Trout (Seatrout, Spotted), Bull Reds and Redfish (Drum, Red) along with Spot moving up the Mobile Bay into the rivers. We have been fishing the Fish River out of Weeks Bay off of Mobile Bay as well as the ledges and drop offs. The Trout are at the mouths of the little creeks. Shrimp under a popping cork is working well to hook them. The Reds are taking live baits, Pogies, bull Minnows and Shrimp at the drop offs. You can avoid the wind this way. The Reds and Trout are easier to find at the mouths of the river and the bends where the dropoffs are. The bite is tide dependent. If the tide is moving the Reds are biting. If it is in between tides things could be tough. The big tip in the river is not to use a Carolina Rig at the mouths of the river. The river bottoms are muddy so the Redfish are avoiding this. Use topwater or head to the mouth of the bay and fish under a popping cork. The early mornings are best for topwater and then move your presentation lower in the water column as the afternoon hits. The Delta will also providing some shelter from the wind around the back of Gulf Shores. The fish will move North once December hits. INSHORE – Reds (Drum, Red) are swimming the pass this week. Numbers are good and so are the sizes. They are being caught on Alewives. The Black Snapper (Snapper, Gray) bite is great and the fish are even bigger now. Live Shrimp is the best bait for them. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – Towards the East and North of the nipple the Wahoo bite has turned on well. High speed trolling with Ballyhoo rigs is the best bet to hook them. South of the Marlin Rig the Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin) bite has been on.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – The Flounder (Flounder, Southern) bite has picked up. Artificials have worked best including paddle tail grubs in white along with Finger Mullet on a Carolina Rig. Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) have been biting well too. They are taking artificials including rapalas and other hard plastics. Wolf Bay and Terry cove are great areas to search on an incoming tide. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – Despite the weather recently there are tons of Whites (Billfish – Marlin, White) and Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) at the nipple. Get up nice and early to make the run. The bite is turning on as anglers are pulling Ballyhoo to get them. There are very few Dolphin or Wahoo but there are some Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin) are at the rigs.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – Mangrove Snapper (Snapper, Gray) have been caught in keeper sizes this week. The bridges, rock jetties and docks are the best place to search using live Shrimp on a Carolina Rig. The water temps are starting to drop so the Redfish (Drum, Red) are moving into the docks, bridges and passes. They are taking anything live. Look for the moving tide in murky water. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are swimming near the pass. They seem to be varied in size between the bridge and pass on a slow moving tide. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – The Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) and King Mackerel (Mackerel, King) are biting well on the troll using spoons or live bait over the wrecks. Alewives or small Pogies can be freelined. It hasn’t been easy to get farther out than the nearshore due to the recent weather systems.

BAIT REPORT – Spot and Croaker are swimming this week.

The King (Mackerel, King) and Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) are spread out and chasing bait between 2-10 miles. Check out the Summer Clearance at Sam’s Bait & Tackle. INSHORE – Things have been a bit slow as of late due to the weather. There have been some Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) swimming but not much has been said about Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). The Kings (Mackerel, King) and Spanish are running thick just a few miles off the beach. There hasn’t been many reports of Flounder (Flounder, Southern). Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – The Speck (Seatrout, Spotted) bite under the dock lights at night has been producing well. Since the water temperature is up during the day the night bite is much better. Very few Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are turning up this week. This may be due to the recent weather front. The eastern shores are producing better Flounder at this point. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – The bite is in very close this week. There is a nice rip out there holding Tuna (Tuna, Yellowfin), Dolphin, Marlin (Billfish – Marlin, Blue) and Wahoo. Some anglers are live baiting around the rigs or chunking before daylight. There are plenty of 100 plus pound Tunas even caught on poppers. The drill ship to the South is really hot.

INSHORE – There are a decent amount of Flounder (Flounder, Southern) along with some slot Reds (Drum, Red) this week. They are loving live Bull Minnows or live Shrimp. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are decent, especially to the East. You can live bait and use soft plastics for the Trout. The beachfront is slower but there are still a few scattered Pompano (Pompano, Florida). PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – Tons of Kings (Mackerel, King) and Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) can be caught in the nearshore this week. You can troll live bait or drift fish with live and dead bait to hook them. Go out to 2 miles and keep moving out while fishing. Plenty of them are out around the nearshore rigs as well. The rip has pushed back inshore this week so there are plenty of Tuna (Tuna, Yellowfin), Wahoo, Dolphin, Marlin (Billfish – Marlin, Blue & Billfish – Marlin, White) and Sails (Billfish – Sailfish). The bite at the deeper rigs has picked up as well. Green/yellow or Pink/white is doing well for trolling colors. Anything Dolphin colored has been successful as well.

BAIT REPORT – Plenty of Cigar Minnows and Threadfin Herring are swimming. Small Hardtails have shown up as well with Alewives also present. Go outside the pass and look for the schools. If you’re not seeing them on the surface, search the bottom with your graph because they are out there.

INSHORE – White artificials remain the best type of bait for catching Flounder (Flounder, Southern). If you are looking to fish for some Specks (Seatrout, Spotted), the best time to fish is in the early morning using hard plastics. Anglers trolling off the beach are catching lots of Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) and Kings (Mackerel, King).

OFFSHORE – Similar to last week Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin) bite has remained hot. Wahoo and Yellowfin (Tuna, Yellowfin) can be found around the dumping grounds in large quantities. The Sharks (Shark, Blacktip & Shark, H.H. – Great) continue to take your bait, so be ready to lose some. Marlin (Billfish – Marlin, Blue) have been turning up a little bit. Wahoo are also turning up from the offshore and the bite is hot when anglers can get out.

INSHORE – The Sheepshead bite has continued into this week and is doing well. The sizes are fair and the bite is consistent around structures. Shrimp and Fiddler Crabs have been the best bait to hook them with. The Fiddler Crabs are becoming hard to find however the Shrimp seem to be working just as well. The weather is expected to clear up by the weekend anglers will have a good chance to hit the water. Sam’s Bait & Tackle has a ton of new inventory so stop in and check it out!

OFFSHORE – The Tuna, Yellowfin are doing well on the chunk and poppers this week. They were found within 60-70 miles and the sizes are around 40-60 lbs. The bite is consistent when the weather allows anglers to get out.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – I have mainly been staying around the pass area this time of year with such cool water temps. The Sheepshead bite has been doing very well at the tip of the east/west jetties and also at the center span of the bridge. Get behind the bridge piling in the eddies when you have a good incoming tide and drop a live Shrimp or Fiddler Crab.Their bite can be very light at times, so keep the line tight and wait for some constant pressure before setting the hook. There have also been some nice upper slot Redfish (Drum, Red) under the bridge. Setting up the boat to drift under the bridge with your live Shrimp near the bottom can be very productive. Another option is to work around the tip and outside of the east jettie for Pompano, Florida which can be caught on a Pompano jig or a carolina rig baited with live Shrimp or Sand Fleas. Don’t forget if you’re going offshore that Triggerfish, Gray is open and they should be hungry. Try a 2 hook rig with a number 2 hook baited with cut squid and you should have a lot of fun. Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – There is not a whole lot of action in this area as of late. With the weather being so bad in the area boaters are staying inshore. Most anglers are heading to the West end to take advantage of the Whiting (Kingfish, Northern & Kingfish, Southern) bite. They are the hot fish this week and the main target for most people. The early morning and late afternoon bite has been the best time to fish them. The only thing they are hitting in this area is Shrimp. Live and alternatively a Vudu Shrimp by Egret will produce great results. There are some Reds (Drum, Red) mixed in as well. They are eating cut bait this week. At the cutoff they are catching Sheepshead. Hermit Crabs and Fiddler Crabs have been the best bait to catch them. The East end is also holding some Reds that are schooling up. There are a few Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) here and there however the bite is not consistent so far.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – Things are doing pretty well throughout the inshore so far. The Pompano, Florida bite has still been great along the beach. The Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) has slowed down this week now that the temperatures are cooling. Reds (Drum, Red) are consistently turning up as they begin to form into schools. They may be more difficult to find but when you do you will find a few. Sheepshead are doing extremely well on live Fiddler Crabs as well as Shrimp both live or artificial. Any sort of structure will be holding some good sizes such as bridges or pilings. Most anglers are staying inside so far this week due to wind conditions. There is a great sale on clearance products so stop in to Sam’s Bait and Tackle to take advantage of up to 70% off select items!

OFFSHORE – Prior to the wind conditions throughout the offshore there was a solid Triggerfish (Triggerfish, Gray) bite anywhere from 38-40 ft to 150-200 ft. Anglers are dropping cut Squid and finding a lot of success with that. There is also a solid Tuna, Blackfin bite that we expect should continue once things settle down.

INSHORE – There is a mixed bag of fish around the inshore this week. Pompano (Pompano, Florida) and Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) are preferring dead Shrimp pieces or fish bites. There are also some Drum (Drum, Black), Reds (Drum, Red) that will hit cut Mullet or cracked Crab. Sheepshead are of course loving Fiddler Crabs this week. Finger Mullet has been the bait of choice for the Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) and Flounder (Flounder, Southern & Flounder, Gulf). They will also go after Croakers or large live Shrimp as well. Natural bait have been the overall preference this week and there is not a lot of action on artificials.

INSHORE – Although the offshore is windy and no one has been able to get out, the inshore has been producing some great bites so far. Sheepshead are thick underneath the bridges. They are loving live Fiddler Crabs. Redfish (Drum, Red) are also doing well in the same areas. As usual they love live Shrimp or Finger Mullet which are running. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are not as heavy as last week however they did have a solid intracoastal bite and that is not expected to have died off just yet. They can be caught on dead Shrimp, Ghost Shrimp or fish bites this week.

BAIT REPORT – Finger Mullet are swimming this week and working well for inshore fish.

INSHORE – The weather has not been favorable so far this week. The surf has been torn up by the current front for the past few days. Strong winds and high waves have kept a lot of anglers inside. Pompano, Florida are still hanging around due to the warm water temperatures. They are mixed in with some Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) and the anglers expect the front to act as a catalyst and fire up the fish. The conditions have just kept everyone inside to this point. Things are expected to clear up mid week and anglers can take advantage of the great bite.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – Redfish (Drum, Red) are still biting at the Rock jetties and the bridge on a moving tide. Fishing the tip of both the east and west jetties is a good starting point or drifting the inside of the west jettie on an outgoing tide. A few of the docks closer towards the bridge/pass have been producing some of you smaller Reds that are just under the slot limit, but a lot of fun to catch. The bait has been pretty hard to find due to a few small cold fronts that have dropped the water temperature down in the low 60s/ upper 50s. Don’t count on finding bait on the water so make sure you bring plenty of live Shrimp. The Sheepshead have started to bite a little and the Shrimp are a good bait for these guys. Fish around any structure you can find that has barnacles attached to it. The bull Reds should still be in the gulf up and down the beaches if the winds will allow you to get out there. Look for diving birds and throw a 1 ounce jig head with a laser tail In the middle of them. I have Gift Certificates available that fit great under a Christmas Tree and can be email in minutes.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – There are Reds (Drum, Red) swimming through the pass this week as well as the Burkhardt area. They continue to do well on curly tail grub jigs. If you can get your hands on some live bait this week it is also a great choice and usually a first preference for the fish. There has also been Whiting (Kingfish, Northern & Kingfish, Southern) all over the beach this week. Live bait is the best choice for them. The bite has become spotty on the State pier at this point. There have been no signs of Seatrout, Spotted yet however they are expected to still be around.

OFFSHORE – There continues to be a solid Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin & Tuna, Yellowfin) bite in the area. They are not as hot as last week however still biting. Anglers still have to head quite a bit out to find them however reports are coming in of a good chunk bite.

BAIT REPORT – There are no reports of bait swimming so far this week. We have lots of great sales on to get rid of old inventory!!!

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – There have been great numbers of Pompano, Florida and Whiting (Kingfish, Northern & Kingfish, Southern) swimming the inshore this week. They have been fair on the state pier so far. There have also been reports of Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) around the Mobile Bay area and really good bites over in Fish River. Anglers have been using live Shrimp or old Tandem rig Speck Rigs. There hasn’t been much action on Flounder so far this week. They are still moving slowly. Being there has not been much of a cold front at this point the big sizes of fish are still pushed out. Reds (Drum, Red) are doing incredible however on curly tail grub jigs. Live bait of course is always a first preference as they will definitely chase Shrimp if you throw it.

OFFSHORE – The Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin & Tuna, Yellowfin) have been on fire in this area. Anglers are heading out to the first rigs and finding a lot of productivity in these areas. Most of the big boaters are heading near the drill ships at 90 miles off the coast. They have been chunking or catching on a duster with a Ballyhoo. Sometimes they are using poppers, depends on the water at the time.

BAIT REPORT – Alewives and anchovies are both swimming this week working well for inshore bait. We have lots of great sales on to get rid of old inventory!!!

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – High winds have seemed to come from every direction lately however this week is expected to bring some nice weather. When anglers can get out there has been a solid Red (Drum, Red) and Pompano (Pompano, Florida) bite. While the Reds will hit just about anything the Pompano are preferring live Shrimp on jigs. Both species have been hanging out around the beach, jetties and sandbars. Most fishermen are targeting Mackerel, King this week as they have been absolutely on fire. Right off the beach on any sort of structure they have been hitting a live Cigar Minnow as a first preference. This has been working well on a short steel leader. Some boaters are dragging 7-8 inch plugs. There has been a spotty Flounder, Southern bite as well however they have not yet become thick in the passes. The bite has been hot when anglers can get out. After some mid-week rain the temperature is expected to cool down a little bit.

BAIT REPORT – There are no bait reported to be running so far this week.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – There has been a lot of action inshore this week. The Reds (Drum, Red) are the best fish to be hitting. They are on fire eating any live bait or cut bait an angler throws at them. They are doing especially well around the bridge and rock jetties. There are also a ton of Pompano, Florida showing up on pompano jigs or feather jigs. Live Shrimp are working extremely well for them too. They have been caught right off the surf in the troughs. Anglers can fish directly off the beach towards the sand bar and around the rock jetties. Quite a few have turned up off the surf in keeper sizes as well. Just South of the bridge there are a mix of Pompano and Reds along with a few Sheepshead caught. Their bite should increase as the temperature continues to drop, however they have only a spotty bite at this time. A few Drum (Drum, Black) are showing up as well on live or dead Shrimp. Anglers fishing outside the pass will likely find some big Bull Reds that they are catching by trolling spoons or stretch 25s. Pink is very effective in this area. Fishermen shouldn’t be surprised to reel in a Mackerel, King in the nearshore either. There have also been reports of Catfish (Catfish, Hardhead & Catfish, Gafftopsail) in this area as well. The heavy bite should continue into the week and through the holidays depending on the cold weather front moving in.

OFFSHORE – Similar to last week the Tuna, Blackfin have continued to bite around the 70 mile mark. Most anglers have been catching them on the troll using Porgie or Bonito chunks or even some live Hardtails. The Wahoo bite has calmed down and become fairly spotty at this point.

BAIT REPORT – The bait is beginning to get sparse in this area. There is very little bait anglers can stock up on however Finger Mullet are still swimming so far but have been fairly spotty.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – The surf and jetties have been producing a great Pompano, Florida bite on jigs, fishbites and more predominantly ghost shrimp. Redfish (Drum, Red) are still incredible and are chasing Shrimp, berkley gulps in white or Bull Minnows as well. Most anglers are using any of these on a jig. There have been reports of some Seatrout, Spotted towards Fowl River and Fish River. As long as there is movement it does not matter what time an angler hits the water.

OFFSHORE – Tuna, Blackfin have been great in this area lately although most anglers have not been heading out due to unfavorable weather. Those who do make it on the water are heading out 70 miles and more to troll in the morning and chunk at night. They are using Porgie or Bonito chunks as well as some live Hardtails bait to hook Tuna. There have also been reports of a few Wahoo as well as anglers are high speed trolling.

BAIT REPORT – There are plenty of bait running right now including Hardtails, Porgies and Alewives. They can all be caught on a Sabiki rig and there is Mullet around to cast a net a to.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – The Reds (Drum, Red) have been biting very well along the bridges, rocks, and jetties. They are hitting Croakers, big Menhaden, and even cut bait. Deeper holes in the bay are hiding some of the bigger fish, and the same bait are working there as well. The Reds are absolutely everywhere however there has been no sign of Trout or Flounder, although there has been some Kings (Mackerel, King) in the gulf. They have been out around the 3 mile mark. Anglers are trolling with live bait and spoons to hook them. As usual, look for the birds and you should find them. There have also been lots of birds and bait that are sitting right on top of a great number of Sharks (Shark, Blacktip). You’ll definitely want to make sure you have something thicker than Mackerel wire. Drifting over them with live bait seems to be working well. Mangrove Snapper (Snapper, Gray) has also been reported from structures, bridges and rock piles that are hitting live Shrimp. They are slightly scattered but still not difficult to find. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Sheepshead bite is expected to improve once the colder weather hits. The Bull Red bite should also increase along the beach with calmer conditions.

OFFSHORE – Wind and rain has deterred many anglers from heading offshore this week. There are currently no offshore trips to report however if conditions lay down and fishermen decide to head to the deeper water they can always consult our Tips feature which provides additional suggestions and information that could help improve the catch.

BAIT REPORT – Normally at this time of year the water temperature moves the bait out, however this year is different. There are still a lot of Menhaden hanging around and once the morning warmth sets in they are right at the surface. Generally they have been schooling up in the marinas and along docks. There should be no trouble catching them. Pinfish have also been running and are plentiful.

Gulf Shores/Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – Water temperatures are still at roughly 77 degrees so anglers aren’t seeing all the usual fish for this season. Reds (Drum, Red), Pompano (Pompano, Florida), Whiting (Kingfish, Gulf & Kingfish, Southern) and ground Mullet can all be found inshore. Live Shrimp are the number one choice of bait for inshore fish, followed by Alewives which have moved out for the most part and may be difficult to find. Sardines and cut Mullet are another alternative. Bull Minnows are working well for Flounder, Gulf and Snapper, Gray. The surf also has a few fish left hosting Pompano, Whiting and a few small Flounder. Out of the Fort anglers can expect some Sharks (Shark, Spinner & Shark, Black Tip) and more Reds in the pass.

OFFSHORE – The weather has still been pretty rough for anglers to get into the deep water at this time. Reports anticipate the Mackerel, Kings and Billfish – Sailfish are still swimming. The Snapper, Red seemed to have made their way out and there are still a few scattered Jacks (Jacks, Amberjack Greater) swimming. The weather will determine the fishability this weekend so keep your eyes out for conditions to lay down.

BAIT REPORT – Shrimp and Mullet are still running which is great for inshore fishermen right now. Go Fishing Bait & Tackle 251-968-7000

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Although the weather has settled a bit in the beginning of the week it is expected to get worse and the fish have been slow. If you can make your way out to about 200-250 ft. you can expect to hook some Wahoo and Tuna (Tuna, Yellowfin & Tuna, Blackfin). Along the bottom you may also find some Snapper, Vermillion and Grouper (Grouper, Gag & Grouper, Scamp) around the same depth. Anglers have been drifting over top and holding the boat over the rock. Upcoming weather is going to be rough as a low pressure system sets in. 13’ waves are rolling about 12 miles out but this should calm down by the end of the week.

INSHORE – Along the beaches there have been reports of some Reds (Drum, Red) that you can hook while trolling or jigging. When the North wind makes it’s way in we are anticipating lots of Mackerel (Mackerel, King & Mackerel, Spanish) to make their way closer to the shore.

BAIT REPORT – Due to the unfavourable weather conditions at this time there have been no bait reported to be running. If you would like to get a head start on your strategy for a calmer day, feel free to check out our Tips feature providing you with lots of information that could help you improve your catch.

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

Redfish are biting around the docks using live shrimp and small pogies. The larger redfish can be caught in the deeper water under and near the bridge using the larger (7-8 inch) pogies by dropping all the way to the bottom and drifting. Hang on tight these fish can be upwards of 20lbs! The King Mackerel have made there way in closer and it’s very common to see them skying out of the water after a free lining pogies or live shrimp. The Mangrove snapper can be caught around just about any solid structure using live shrimp and smaller pogies if they can be found. Most of the Mangroves are just under the keeper size of 12 inches, but are lots of fun to catch. The bait is starting to get a little hard to find with the water cooling off, but should still be around for another week or two.

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Fishing is looking good out there. Yellowfin Tuna have been biting around the rigs at approximately 75 miles out and anything South of the Marlin rigs are doing great as well. You can find Yellowfin around the East side as well as Wahoo and White Marlin biting. As far as go to rigging go your best bet is trolling Islanders with Ballyhoo in blue-white or solid white. The weather is not looking great this week so although the fish are plentiful it is not easy to get out there with the North wind.

INSHORE – The trout have been decent inshore. Redfish are biting exceptionally well with both bulls and slots around the piers, bays, and docks. Shrimp and Alewives on a carolina rig are working well. Reds are biting anything artificial but white is the most successful color. Curly tails, berkley gulps and live Mud Minnows are a good choice. Lots of Flounder are biting although the bay Flounder should be moving out soon producing bigger Flounder around the gulf side. Spanish Mackerel have been good around the state pier but slower this week as it has been hard to get out.

BAIT REPORT – Alewives and Cigar Minnows have been running. Finger Mullet are all over the place in the backwaters.

INSHORE – Head out for some night fishing to catch some good Redfish. For some, the bite has been incredible, you can use anything from a Berkley Gulp to a little paddle-tail. Over near Robinson Island there is a good bite of Redfish also. The incoming tide brings in a good current and a good flow of fish. The Flounder bite has been decent inshore too.

OFFSHORE – The Tuna bite is good offshore out by the rigs. They were using deep Ballyhoo with dusters. The water is clean, green water and there is lots of bait. There are White Marlin and Blue Marlin out there too. There have been a few really good days reported lately

INSHORE – There’s still been some Redfish and Mangrove Snapper in the intercostals along with a few Flounder. They’re being caught using live bait and all in all the fishing has been good. Speckled Trout are being caught along the beaches using unfair rip n slash lures. They’re a great Trout lure and should definitely be in your box along with other hard plastics like the mirrodine 18MR. Spanish Mackerel have also been along the beaches and are most likely feeding on the alewives.

OFFSHORE – White Marlin have been fishing very well out in the Nipple 131 area. There’s also been some smaller Bluefin Tuna in there as well. Island lures with a Ballyhoo behind have been the best lure for most. Blue/White and solid white have been working very well with the solid white being a hot seller for Sam’s Bait and Tackle.

BAIT REPORT – The beaches have been pretty good for finding Alewives.

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – The offshore bite has been about the same, however the big news for this week is the fall Red Snapper Season in Florida State water which starts during Labor Day weekend. The Snapper season will open 9/5-9/7 and will continue to be open on Saturdays and Sundays in September and October with the last day to harvest being Sunday November 1st. Red Snapper limit is still 16 inch total length and 2 per person. Please check the FWC website for details!

INSHORE – The Inshore bite has been a little slow for the early morning bite due to the full moon, however the mid day bite has not been too bad. Mangrove Snapper are still a good target near any good structure such as bridge pilings, jetties, and docks. They can be found in the deeper water to water with only a few feet of depth. The Redfish have been starting to bite a little better on the Alewives, Mullet and Pinfish. Shrimp tends to get eaten up quicker by the pinfish and bluefish. Spanish are still biting outside the pass on slow trolled small live baits and some of the small casting spoons such as clarke spoons.

BAIT REPORT – Bait such as Alewives can still be found north of the bridge with a cast net along with larger Menhaden for your offshore species. Try some of the smaller canals for the Finger Mullets.

The weather has been fairly uneventful. We have had a little less humidity, but the temps are still hanging in the upper 80’s to mid 90’s.

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – Blue fish near the jetties and bridges. Use live alewives or shrimp. Mangrove Snapper near bridges, jetties and docks. Use carolina rig with a #2 kahle hook with live alewives or shrimp. Spanish Mackerel near the pass and off the beaches. Use small #10 treble hooks and 15lb wire leader with small alewives. Anchor and chum them up. Also, trolling or casting small spoons. Remember they like shiny fast moving baits and lures. I haven’t seen any signs of Trout, however the Redfish are starting to show up around docks and in the deep water at the bridge. Alewives can be found in the shallow waters within a close proximity north of the bridge. They can be caught using a 8 or 10 foot cast net with a quarter inch mesh. Spanish trolling spoons and drifting live bait from the pass out to 3 miles. The water has been pretty clean to the east so always look for floating debris on the way out and pitch a bait or two at it. Several mahi were caught under a floating log a mile or so off the beach.

OFFSHORE – Blended clean green water has been around the Nipple, Spur and Elbow. The White Marlin were doing well in that area but they may move out so go as soon as you can. Amberjack , Scamp and Grouper are being caught on the longer 8/10 hour offshore charters using Menhaden for bait. The shorter 6 hour charters are catching white snapper and Beliners, however not much size to them but plenty to go around.

The inshore bite should be getting better and better as we head into fall. Redfish, Trout and Flounder should start to do well this time of the year. I will also be going out for Red Snapper soon. Last I heard was a weekend snapper season from Labor day weekend through to the end of October. Spring and fall is the best time to fish!

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

INSHORE – Captain Frank and his clients have been finding decent Speckled Trout fishing. Being summer, most of the best Trout fishing has been early in the mornings. The larger sized Alewives, or Finger Mullet, have been the best baits for Trout. There’s also a few REdfish here and there scattered on rocks. Some Redfish can be found in the shallows and sight fished. There’s been a Tarpon bite lately that’s been spotty at best, but when they are in they’ll put a good bend in the rod. There’s a wide variety of different rigging techniques that work well for baits when fishing Trout and Redfish in the waters of the Gulf. Check in with the ProAngler app for various angling tips including riggings.

BAIT REPORT – There’s a few Alewives and some big Pogies around that are being picked by using cast nets. There’s also a few Croakers around if you’re dragging nets.

Tourist season is ending; leading in to September there’s a lot of people heading back to the daily grind. This is always a great time to start, or continue, hitting the water. Summer’s heat will start to break from time to time and a lot of the popular fishing spots will start to see less angling pressure. Pair that with an experienced professional like Captain Frank and you should find yourself having a day of a little less fishing, and a little more catching.

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – White and Blue Marlin are showing up at the Nipple which is about a 35 mile run. Allen Lures and Ballyhoo are certainly going to be your best bets. It’s worth keeping an eye on the weather as this heat can pop some weather up.

INSHORE – The folks over at Sam’s Bait & Tackle told me that the Redfish and Trout are still fishing reasonably well in the deep holes. Shrimp is still a great bait to use; take some croaker as well, just in case. Beach fronts are starting to find a real decent Flounder bite starting. If using live bait for the Flounder, throw Bull Minnows or baby Pinfish. As far as artificial choices for Flounder, Tsunami or Paddletail white grubs with a built in lead head are a great lure.

BAIT REPORT – Break out the nets and Sabikis, Cigar Minnows, Sardines, Pinfish, Alewives, are all around.

OFFSHORE – There is a current change out at The Nipple about 35 miles out. The Wahoo bite is good out there, and the water is a nice clean green. Purple and black, blue and white, and pink trolling lures are your go to right now. The bottom fishing is also really good if you are looking to bend your pole, tons of Snapper, but of course they are out of season.

INSHORE – I spoke to our contacts over at Sam’s Bait & Tackle and they told me that the Redfish and Trout are good right now but you need to find the deep holes because it gets hot in the day. Because it is so hot, they are extra active at night under the lights. Shrimp is always going to be the best bait, but Croaker is really good right now if you are looking for something a little different or can’t get your hands on Shrimp.

BAIT REPORT – There is lots of bait out there, Cigar Minnows, Sardines, Pinfish, Alewives, are all around.

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – The Spanish and Kings are somewhat biting but they are not on fire by any means. There are also some Redfish biting. The Flounder are coming through the bay and passes. You should try using some small Pogies and alewives which you can catch yourself. The Spanish are also doing well on Diamond jigs. There are also some Dolphin and Tuna out there about 100 miles out.

INSHORE – Trolling offshore is good for Kings 20-25 pounds. Everything is a little slow right now, real hot. You’ll find the Kings in the Beach area out past the sand bar and further.

BAIT REPORT – lots of Pogies and Alewives around.

The water has been nice and calm but the jellyfish are thick. Hopefully they will clear out soon. Captain Doug specializes in inshore and near shore fishing. Come check him out.

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – The offshore fishing has been just terrible. Mark over at Sam’s Bait and Tackle has seen nothing but green water. The blue water is out between 130-140 miles, which is just not worth it. That being said, he talked to a guy Sunday who caught a blue marlin at the nipple which is only 35 miles out.

INSHORE – The inshore fishing is decent right now – definitely a lot better than the offshore. The morning bite is quite strong and Mark has seen plenty of people having successful days out by the jetties around the rocks. The main fish being targeted are the Flounder and Black Snapper. The black snapper is keeper size too. The best bait to be using right now is Shrimp.

BAIT REPORT – There is quite a bit of bait inshore. The Pogies are everywhere and they make really good bait whether you are trolling or bottom fishing.

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Captain Joe over at Cool Change Charters will be bottom fishing for the Red Snapper until Tuesday July 14th when the season closes – because the bite is just so damn good. The bait he likes to use specifically for Red Snapper is live Menhaden and Alewives dropped straight to the bottom, but if he can’t get those he will use squid, cut bonita, strip bonita, or strip mackerel. After the season ends he is most likely going to continue bottom fishing for other types of Snapper, such as the Vermillion Snapper, Black Snapper, Lane Snapper, and White Snapper. When this change happens he is going to switch his primary bait to squid and mackerel. Kings are showing up while trolling, and there is Spanish Mackerel and Bonita that are hitting his trolling lines as well.

INSHORE – The main inshore targets this time of year are the Trout, Redfish, and Flounder. Keep your eye out for the Black Drum as well, they are a little harder to find but definitely out there. The go to bait for them right now is Shrimp according to our contact over at Outcast Charter Docks. If you are going to go artificial your best bet is to imitate the popular live bait; Berkley Gulp is a great imitation Shrimp. Try to fish when they are feeding early in the morning on either tide.

BAIT REPORT – Captain Joe has seen a lot of bait all over the coves. He usually throws a net a few times and has enough bait to last him the rest of the day.

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

OFFSHORE –  Red Snapper season is open for another two weeks so get out there and enjoy it. You’ll be bottom fishing for them around the artificial wrecks. Just about anything within 20 miles is man made so check that out. There are tons of them. Most of the big ones are picked over now but there are still some out there.  Red snapper bite on Alewives, Menhaden, Pinfish, and just about anything live. Cut bait will also work well. Captain Joe Nash has also been doing a little bit of trolling for Kings and Spanish Mackerel. For the trolling you want to troll spoons and planers (number 2 planer with a 3 inch spoon) in pink, blue, or green. Silver works too. Spanish have been busy. He has also been getting a few of them with sea witches and Bonita strips. Marlin fishing is also good about  40-45 is pretty good. Water is starting to change colour though.

INSHORE – The fish are making you work.  Captain Joe has been having a tough time inshore because the Trout and Redfish are not biting. The best thing to do is to go out to the Gulf and drift fish for Spanish Mackerel and King Mackerel. The fishing there is pretty good as long as the weather commits. Try anchoring up with some Cigar Minnows and Drifting. There are also occasional White Marlin Inshore.

BAIT REPORT – Bait is around. Cast net the Menhaden. They are especially good in the mornings and late evenings and they work fine dead too because they are an oily fish. Snappers love them!

If you want to go fishing give Captain Joe Nash a call, he fishes everyday and does private charters.

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

Inshore- Captain Doug Maines has been able to target Spanish mackerel and Kingfish that are only a mile from local jetties and having good success using a variety of live bait including Shrimp, Pogies (both big and small) and Pinfish. Most of the catches are over 20 lbs and some are as big as 40 lbs. In the back bays, Captain Doug says there are nice sized Flounder, large Redfish and Black Drum. The morning time is a great time to target these Fish holed up in Wolf Bay and Bay La Launch. If you have to go mid day, look for areas with sandy bottoms where lethargic fish may be lurking and willing to strike at a presentation that bothers them.

Captain Doug Maines will have you getting your “Fish On!”. His charter service is all about having fun and catching fish!

Offshore- The North Gulf offshore fishing season out of Alabama is open for Red Snapper and local anglers have been returning to port with good sized catches. Check local regulations for exact season lengths and catch limits.Offshore captains have been fishing about seven miles offshore and trolling for Kings, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi and Dolphin.

Orange Beach / Gulf Shores / Gulf Highlands Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – The Mahi Mahi have moved in! You’ll want to troll for them at a reasonable speed. The Wahoo are also going to want to troll with Ballyhoo but you’ll want to troll at a higher speed.

INSHORE –  The Speckled Trout have moved in. You’ll also find a decent Flounder bite on the beach near the troughs. As always the Redfish are around.  For the Speckled Trout you’ll want to try using Rip n Slash an artificial made by Unfair Lures or the Voodoo Swimming Mullet. You find some big ones sitting on the beach laying in the troughs. Live bait also works great, try Croakers.  Mark from Sam’s Bait and Tackle likes artificial baits with a Bull Minnow, or Mullet look with a grey back and white bottom. You can also try MR -18 heavy is good too with the green back. On the beach you should try to use white body artificials with a chartreuse tail.  On the beach front a ton of flounder near the troughs in front off the beach.

BAIT REPORT – There are a ton bunch of Pinfish all over the bays. There are also Mullet around but they move.
