Pompano Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – You may not believe it but all the hot bites have been coming from the offshore this week. Snook are the most consistent inshore target, but don’t worry, they’re doing well into this week despite the hit or miss weather. Inlets, docks, beaches, seawalls and rivers are all holding decent fish. No matter where you go it seems you will run into some Snook. They are also not picky on bait. Our Captains and Bait Shops seem to be using a wide variety of setups and still finding plenty of success. Scattered Tarpon and Pompano can also be caught, mostly from the beach. They haven’t quite become consistent yet. We hope to see the inshore improve as the season progresses.
OFFSHORE – If you are able to make it offshore this week you will have no problem loading up on a good variety of fish that are turning up in decent sizes as well. There is no question that Dolphin are taking the prize for best fish so far this week. From Juno to Fort Lauderdale they are consistently turning up, the only difference being the depth they are found in. Once you hit your spot, troll a skirted Ballyhoo and get ready for a great bite! Anglers are also getting pumped about the upcoming full moon because you know what that means, Wahoo! They are already beginning to fire up so anglers are taking every opportunity to head to 100-300 feet of water around the Lake Worth to Deerfield areas. The occasional Sailfish and Tuna are also mixed in. When weather keeps anglers nearshore the focus has shifted to the bottom bite. Snapper and Cobia can be caught a bit closer in taking live bait. 90 feet has been a key depth to start in. There has been no shortage of options offshore this week.

INSHORE – Big Bluefish are on the beach from Blowing Rocks to the North, about 20 feet deep. They can be caught from the boats. Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are in good numbers swimming the beach from Juno North. Big Bluefish are also in the river. Jacks (Jack, Crevalle) and Ladyfish are also being caught. Snook (Snook, Common) are holding up on the jetties. They aren’t really thick but they’re becoming more active.
OFFSHORE – There has been some Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin) with schoolie Dolphin this week. Cobia and Kings (Mackerel, King) have been caught as well. Search for them to the North in 100-110 feet of water. The bottom bite has been a bit slower overall. Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) and Wahoo have been caught but they are not consistent. Sails are around 220 feet of water. Most anglers are starting at the edge. Dolphin are coming right up to the top.
BAIT REPORT – There hasn’t been much on bait as of late. Small schools of Mullet are getting ready to fire up in the backcountry.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – They are finally here! Better Tarpon are beginning to show up this week and anglers have long awaited to target them with the early Spring conditions. We are seeing a good variety of techniques working well to hook them from Jupiter to Fort Lauderdale however we are mostly seeing live bait as the key to hooking them. Mullet, Shrimp, Bonito slabs and Kingfish bellies are all good choices this week. We expect that they will be moving into their typical feeding spots as long as the weather stays consistent.
Snook are a great follow up fish this week. They are steadily turning up throughout the inlets and don’t seem to be too picky in terms of what they will feed on. Otherwise, anglers are heading to the beach for scattered Pompano, Whiting or Bluefish.
OFFSHORE –
If you’re heading offshore this week you’re probably out there taking advantage of the hot Dolphin bite! From Jupiter to Fort Lauderdale we are seeing success with many anglers landing good numbers of Mahi. They are scattered throughout the offshore in typical depths however live bait on the troll has been the key to catching them. Blue/white or pink/white combinations are best in terms of artificials.
There are plenty of other fish to target in the deep water as well. We are seeing nice sized Tuna turning up along with Kingfish up to almost 40 pounds. Sails are also mixed in anywhere from 100-300 feet of water. The bottom bite is producing a variety of Snapper as well, especially out of the Jupiter and Juno areas. We hope to see everything continue with the nice weather into next week.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – If you’re heading out to the surf or the inshore this week you’ll want to look towards Jupiter as the Miami area was blown out! The wind has kept many anglers waiting for weather windows to take advantage of the bite. This week, the focus has been on Snook. Your typical areas are holding the best fish however a full moon is what will fire them up. The night bite has been successful for those casting live bait, especially with the bait run beginning in Deerfield.
The day bite is considerably slower this week. When you can find an area with some shelter or a break in the wind you might be able to see some of the scattered Pompano, Bluefish and Sharks running the beach. If you are lucky enough to be able to get onto the reefs, they will be holding decent sized Cobia as well. Once things calm down we suspect that the fish will be feeding on the bait run as the Mullet make their way in and the Sardines head to the rock piles off the beach.
OFFSHORE – This week the weather is cool but the bite is hot, hot, hot! We are still getting a lot of Tuna including Yellowfin, a Bluefin or two, Blackfin and even some Skipjack. The numbers are consistently good from Jupiter to Fort. Lauderdale. Head to 120 feet of water for consistently good sizes of Blackfin from 5 to 8 pounds with bigger sizes mixed in.
There have been reef fish including Kings swimming both nearshore and offshore along the coast. Sails are mixed in with the Kings towards Jupiter however by the time we make our way to Fort Lauderdale they have become, still consistent, but scattered from in close to farther offshore. Normally they are slow at this time of year however they are still quite active into this week. From the bottom, the Snapper are providing the hotter bite. A variety of species have been caught using Sardines as well as Squid throughout the area. Amberjack are beginning to stack up on the deeper reefs as well.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – Anglers have finally had some reports of Cobia close to the beach in Lake Worth. We are hoping the weather treats us to a few opportunities to get on them. Jetty fishermen are doing very well on Snook at night around bridges and dock lights, daytime jetty fishing is also good. If you are unsure of where to go, try Deerfield or Fort Lauderdale and bring some topwaters. Don’t be surprised if you hook a few Jacks and Snapper when using Shrimp. Fishing Headquarters out of Fort Lauderdale has reported bigger Tarpon in the area. The fish have been extremely difficult to get a bite out of. Down in Miami, Government Cut in the bay near the key has produced good amounts of Tarpon.

OFFSHORE – The bottom bite for Snapper has been slow early in the week on account of the wind. This is normally a good thing however because the fish are usually less pressured when you finally get a chance to target them. We caught up with Fishing Headquarters running out of Fort Lauderdale and they reported decent Amberjack fishing around the shipwrecks in 200 feet of water. You will also hook a pile of catch and release Grouper from the bottom. The offshore trolling bite was really hit or miss from Miami up to Jupiter. The better bite was to the South. Wahoo reports were fairly slim unless you were able to get close to the Bahamas. Look to see Dolphin fishing pick up off of West Palm Beach as new debris and weedlines should show up. A mix of Tuna and Bonito were readily caught out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Bonito were up to 5 pounds. Moving closer in, Kingfish have been biting in around 85 feet of water with the odd Sailfish mixed in. Sailfishing should resume following the week’s early wind events.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – Jacks and Snook have been on the bite this past week in Southeast Florida. The Jacks in particular have been blowing up Mullet, the Lake Worth/Boynton area is fishing especially well for them. For the Snook, just a Shrimp under a cork will get the job done in most situations this week. From Deerfield to Miami, you can also find a pretty decent Tarpon bite inshore so long as you are using baits that are very lively.

OFFSHORE – Sailfishing was pretty interesting over the past 10 days. Fort Lauderdale and Miami’s Sailfish bite was on prior to the weekend, then it seemed to shut down. A lot of the boats taking part in the Sailfish tournament elected to move north to Pompano beach where quite a few Sailfish ended up being released. Aside from good amounts of Kingfish in 90 to 150 feet of water, there were some very big Blackfin Tuna caught from north of Miami down around to the Keys. Miss Britt Charters out of Miami even boated a few 30 pounders.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – Snook and Jack Crevalle were the hot catches this week. They are being caught on DOA lures, Yo Zuri Minnow patterns and bait. Most of the fish have been caught throughout inlets and sea walls. There were also some Cobia up to 50 pounds on the beaches at Jupiter and Juno.
There has been some good Sheepshead opportunities throughout the Southeast but they do slow down as you hit warmer water. Good sized Tarpon have been showing up in Fort Lauderdale. We are expecting that bite to heat up over the next few weeks.

OFFSHORE – They always say there are plenty of fish in the sea, that couldn’t be more true for Florida’s Southeast Coast. Gulf Stream fishing produced a few Swordfish in approximately 800 feet of water. There are also some Tilefish being caught in the same depth from Deerfield on down to Pompano beach. Boats out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale had a really good week catching everything from Sailfish on kites to Dusky Sharks in 500 feet of water.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – Bluefish have been peppering the beaches from Jupiter to Fort Lauderdale. Don’t be surprised if there is some Spanish Mackerel mixed in. It should be a good time to be throwing spoons or plugs into the surf.
Snook are slowly heating up in the lower stretches of Southeastern Florida. Most popular lures are Flair Hawks and SpoolTeks. A few of the beaches North of Deerfield are offering up some good Pompano action. If you are looking to get into Jacks or Barracuda they have been in particularly good numbers around the Pompano Beach area.
OFFSHORE – The offshore boats have been doing very well on King Mackerel this week. From Jupiter all the way down to Miami the Kingfish have been caught in no less than 85 ft and no deeper than 125 ft, with the exception of Fort Lauderdale anglers finding some big Kings in 150 ft of water. The gulf stream provided a good Wahoo bite this past week. From the waters off of Juno Beach getting heavier around Pompano Beach and slowing down a bit South of Hollywood anglers are finding Wahoo. Sailfish have been sporadic throughout. A lot of boats are spending their time live baiting or trolling in 150-250 ft. Boats trolling anywhere from 200-500 ft all throughout the region have been finding some weeds along with some Dolphin. Cobia, Lane Snapper, and Vermilion Snapper have been caught off of Jupiter and Juno in roughly 100 ft of water. Yellowtail Snapper have been slow from Lake Worth down to Boca Raton. Bottom fishing has been a bit slow in Southeast Florida. Except for a good Yellowtail bite in 60-90 ft of water out from Miami.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – It’s been a great week so far. We are seeing very nice fish including a 100 lb Swordfish (Billfish – Swordfish) caught during the day. This was a surprise for our anglers. Deep dropping in 800 ft with a Chicken Rig is what the fish ate. The original target was Tilefish (Tilefish, Blueline). Yelloweyed Snapper was also caught. This was also unusual. Otherwise we are seeing consistently good Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) and Wahoo are heating up with the upcoming moon. There are some Mahi (Dolphin), not many but this is promising for the season as it should really begin in the next few weeks. The seasonal tail end of the Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin) bite is still good. The weather has been nice so we hope to have some fishing days over the weekend.

INSHORE – It’s been a bit slow in the area. Mackerel (Mackerel, Spanish) are biting off the pier. Throughout the intracoastal the Sheepshead, Snook (Snook, Common) and Tarpon are biting well. Shrimp is a key bait however Sheepshead usually prefer Fiddler Crab. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below to reveal tons of information and tips to catch!
OFFSHORE – Sailfish have been caught offshore. Wahoo have been hooked in 150-200 ft. The high speed troll is generally productive to catch them. Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) are inside of that. You can typically catch them on a kite with Ballyhoo if there is enough wind. A handful of Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin) and Dolphin are being picked up here and there.

INSHORE – The bite has been a bit slow inshore this week. We are seeing that the Spanish Mackerel (Mackerel, Spanish) are beginning to show up again. Live Pilchards and Gotchas are working well to hook them. The bite is consistent at this point and we hope to see it heat up in the new year. Thanks for another great year anglers! Pro Angler is looking forward to seeing all of your great catches in 2017!
OFFSHORE – Kings (Mackerel, King) and Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) are your main bites. Kings begin in 90-200 ft. Dolphin are here and there. Trolling Ballyhoo is your best bet to hook them.

OFFSHORE – The Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) are going crazy this week. There are tons of them. Find them anywhere from 100-150 ft, sometimes out as far as 400ft. Anglers are mostly live baiting however some are trolling for them. There are so many they are becoming a good nuisance. Dolphin are scattered in 400-500 ft. They will move around with less wind. Skipjack (Tuna, Skipjack) are here and there. Wahoo are scattered about as well. There hasn’t been enough East wind to push them inside to 80-150 ft.

The night time Snapper (Snapper, Gray) bite has been good from land. Fish structure. Yes, they are eating the little finger mullet too. OFFSHORE – The weather has been nasty this week! We expect the fishing to go back to normal once the system passes. Incredible numbers of Bonito (Bonito, Little Tunny) have turned up. Wahoo are biting due to the full moon as well as reasonable amounts of Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin) and Kings (Mackerel, King). The Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) have slowed down. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – With this system pushing through most of Florida, we expect a lot of wind and tough conditions. Most of the fishing from last week should fire back up once the storm passes. Expect to see the rainfall cool off inshore waters. This will help some of the fish that prefer cooler conditions. Stay informed on all the coming weather systems using your Pro Angler App!

Grouper, Gag are being caught from the bottom however they are being released due to seasonal regulations. Generally live bait or artificials in darker colors will work best to hook them. A bit farther out there is a solid bite of Mahi (Dolphin) as well found between 250 ft up to about 10 miles off the shore. Both fish are doing well on Ballyhoo as it matches the run.
BAIT REPORT – There are some Ballyhoo running this week working well in the offshore

OFFSHORE – The weather has been very unfavorable the past few days however there are a slight few anglers that have managed to make it out on the water. They have been catching a few Billfish – Sailfish in great sizes. The bite is not hot but when you hook one you will know it’s a great size. Ballyhoo is working well both skirted or naked depending on the setup. There are still a few Mahi (Dolphin) around as well. The weather has calmed down so we expect results to continue and improve over the next week.

OFFSHORE – There are tons of Mahi (Dolphin) running and they are great sizes. The run has been great this year. There was also a few Tripletail that showed up this week and it was a pleasant surprise for anglers in the area. The Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) are thinner than usual which anglers are attributing to the warm weather conditions. They have just not been chasing their bait down. The Wahoo have been coming in reasonable quantities and there is the usual Mackerel, King bite as well.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – The bite has not been as consistent so far this week. Although there have not been any reports we do suspect that there are still Pompano, Florida, Bluefish, and Mackerel, Spanish swimming the inshore. The recent winds have created difficulty for anglers to hit the water however we hope since the conditions seem to have improved that there will be lots of action over the weekend. Anglers heading out can always check out our Tips feature which provides additional information and suggestions to help improve the catch.
OFFSHORE – Now that the wind has died down anglers have been able to hit the water and are happy about the changes. The strong wind moved a lot of weeds inwards along with the Wahoo and Mahi (Dolphin). They are both coming up in great sizes so far along with extraordinary numbers. One report sized up a Mahi roughly 48 inches. Anglers are catching something every trip so the bite is solid.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – The inshore has been host to some Pompano, Florida, Bluefish and Mackerel, Spanish this week. Mackerel have been hitting spoons and jigs, although none of these species are too picky this week. There is lot of fish in various sizes to choose from so if you are heading out this weekend you can always check out our Tips feature which provides additional information and suggestions to help improve the catch.
OFFSHORE – We continue to see a solid Sail (Billfish – Sailfish) bite this week. Size class is all over the place. There have also been a few Dolphin in 200-300 ft of water. A spotty Wahoo bite has continued into this week but is not expected to keep up much longer. The weather conditions have still not been great but anglers are managing to make it on the water during some of the better days.
BAIT REPORT – There is no bait running to report yet this week.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – It has been a tough go in the deeper water as of late. The unfavorable weather has made getting on the water extremely difficult for anglers. There was a fantastic Dolphin and Tuna, Blackfin bite the past few days but the wind has shut everyone down. There were good sizes and numbers so our sources expect the bite to be there once the conditions lie down. Billfish – Sailfish and some Cobia were present as well but their numbers weren’t quite as high and the catch has been difficult. Anyone who would like to head out on the water this holiday when conditions lie down can always check out our Tips feature which provides additional information and suggestions on how to improve your catch. Fishbolo can also provide a great up to the minute fishing report so anglers know exactly what to expect on the water.
BAIT REPORT – Fishbolo will be adding a brand new flats boat to their lineup for more fall fishing opportunities.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – The Bluefish bite has remained constant over the past week. They are not picky and are hitting any type of cut bait put in front of them. Mackerel, Spanish are also swimming along with some Snook, Common which is the most consistent fish caught in this area the past week. Spoons and bucktail jigs are working well with either species. The Tarpon bite has slowed down significantly and there have not been reports in this area this week.
OFFSHORE – Conditions have been extremely rough for getting offshore this week. So far there have been no reports from this area however when the weather lies down our sources suspect that the Dolphin and Wahoo bite will continue in 500-800ft. Most anglers were finding kite fishing the most successful technique. Anyone heading out in more favorable conditions can check out our Tips feature which provides additional suggestions and information that could help improve the catch. In addition, Atlantic Bait & Tackle could provide an up to the minute fishing report.
BAIT REPORT – There are a few Mullet running in this area however they have become spotty over the past few weeks.

INSHORE – Tarpon are on fire inshore and eating pretty much anything. They are preferring live Pilchards or Sardines but have also been hooked on Goggle Eyes, and Blue Runners. This is pretty much the only species reported in the shallow water this week.
OFFSHORE – The deeper water is hiding some great fish lately. Billfish – Sailfish have been biting very well along with some good sized Dolphin. Anglers have been kite fishing for the Sails and finding the most success with this technique. Snapper (Snapper, Yellowtail & Snapper, Mutton) are hitting live Ballyhoo pinned to a jig or Silversides. They have been coming up in good quantities and sizes as well.
BAIT REPORT – There is a ton of bait running this week. Pilchards, Sardines, Goggle eyes, Blue Runner and a few Mackerel are all inhabiting the inshore.

INSHORE – Ladyfish, Jack (Jack, Crevalle), Snook (Snook, Common), Tarpon and Bluefish are all biting inshore. It is a mixed bag of fish located on the beach. Most anglers are using frozen bait along the bottom such as Mullet or Ladyfish. Spoons are working pretty well for Blues as well.
OFFSHORE – The bite has been very good in the deeper water. Kingfish have been hitting as well as Snapper, Yellowtail and even some Billfish – Sailfish. There have been reports of Dolphin being reeled in. Most anglers are kite fishing live bait for all three of these.
BAIT REPORT – There is a ton of bait running on the beach. Sardines, Pilchards and Mullet are all easy to get and there’s also Goggle eyes as well.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – The rougher weather has made offshore fishing difficult but it’s not all bad. Winds have pushed the fish tighter in so we are seeing lots of Dolphin on the reef. About 120ft of water will be the best spot to hook both Dolphin and Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish). A little bit inwards at 80ft we see lots of Kingfish (Mackerel, King) as well. Bottom fishing is doing great from about 70-100ft hosting a number of species of Snapper (Snapper, Yellowtail & Snapper, Mutton) and AJs (Jack, Amberjack Greater), and Grouper, Gag. Most anglers are using Spanish Sardines or Live Goggle eyes to hook any of these fish. They’re all hungry.
INSHORE – The beaches are red hot right now. Bluefish, Snapper (Snapper, Yellowtail) Ladyfish, and Tarpon are biting. Even some Reds (Drum, Red) have made their way to the area which is a rare sight for anglers here. All the fish are chasing Mullet which is running thick. A lot of angers are also throwing shiny spoons to attract the fish. These results are expected to continue into the weekend and beyond for another month or so. Northwinds should also begin to send Mackerel this way as well so keep your eyes open.
BAIT REPORT – Mullet are pushing through the rough water and they are thick. You should not have any trouble finding them and it is a good time to stock up since most inshore fish are hungry for them.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – It’s been a rough go for anglers as the strong winds have made offshore fishing nearly impossible. No reports have come in at this time but we hope to have more after the wind settles on the weekend. If you are planning to make your way out and take advantage of a break in the weather keep in mind you can always rely on our Tips section of the app where by selecting the fish of your choice you can find suggestions, baits and ‘how to’s.
INSHORE – The action inshore is certainly better than offshore. Live Mullet is catching just about everything. If you are down on the Surf you can expect to reel in some good sized Bluefish, Jacks and Ladyfish. Around the inlet you’ll find some Snook biting pretty well. Throwing Goofy Jigs just may hook you a Pompano as reports tell us that all colors are producing great results. On the beach Tarpon are also feasting but don’t bother throwing anything but Mullet because that is what they’re after.
BAIT REPORT – The Mullet run is still extraordinary. A little time on the cast net will load you up with tons of fresh bait.

Pompano Beach Fishing Report
Offshore – In the past two weeks there have been lots of Mahi around to catch. The Full Moon on the 29th mixed with the arrival of Hurricane Erika had a huge effect on the fishing conditions at Pompano Beach. Hurricane Erika started to turn the waters on the 29th, which affected the normal good effect of the full moon on fish migration. Hurricane Erika caused the water to turn dirty, keeping the Mahi and Wahoo offshore, well out in the middle of the gulf stream. That said, anywhere ½ mile from the inlet will take you to 100ft of water, 4 miles out you’re in 400ft of water, 12 miles will take you to 2000ft deep water. It doesn’t take long to get your boat out to the deeper water where the Mahi and Wahoo are hiding in the weedlines. The weedlines have been pushed farther offshore by Hurricane Erika. The Mahi are still there to be caught, but they are pretty scattered and in small clumps. If you’re looking for a definite catch, look for Kingfish. They are common in Pompano Beach. As well as Bonito. There are huge numbers of Bonito out there. Trolling for Mahi and Wahoo seems to be the popular choice. Fresh Bonito strips work the best. The Florida Reef is a few hundreds yards from the inlet; if you are having some difficulty catching any action trolling, you can bottom fishing at the Reef. Bottom fish the area and you’ll be sure to catch some Snapper.
BAIT REPORT – There are lots of Bonito to catch locally. In Pompano Beach you only use Ballyhoo when the wind is strong enough to kite fish.

OFFSHORE – There’s a great Dolphin bite happening anywhere between 10 and 20 miles out. Most success stories are coming from anglers deep dropping skirted Ballyhoo. Top colors for the skirts are pink and white. There’s some Wahoo hanging around out there and the odd Marlin and Dolphin have also been caught on rigged Mullet.
INSHORE – Snook is being caught around the bridges and inlets. Spanish Mackerel are being found around the Snook as well. Early in the morning Mangrove Snapper are being caught under the piers. There’s also some Tarpon showing up on the baitfish as well. Most anything biting right now will take Pilchards as they’re running right now and are plentiful.
BAIT REPORT – Pilchards are running and anglers are having great success netting them.

OFFSHORE – The reef fishing is doing really well right now. Josh at Atlantic Bait & Tackle said that there were Kingfish and Bonitas biting during the day. The Mangroves and Mutton Snapper are also biting along the bottom at night. The Dolphin are 10-12 miles offshore, half of them are legal, the other half are throwbacks. There is also a handful of Wahoo around the moons at the end of the month. After the moon passes, they slow right down though.INSHORE – The inshore is a little bit slower than the offshore because the water temperature in closer is higher. There are Snook but they are out of season for now. A few Tarpon, Jacks, and Barracudas are around inshore, but the good inshore fishing will pick up when the bait comes down the beach in the Fall.
BAIT REPORT – Pilchards and stuff around the piers and Ballyhoo on the reefs.

Offshore: Yellowtail city! Yellowtail snapper fishing has been phenomenal for the past 2 weeks with a 3 foot liter and a jig head with Silversides to finish the job I’ve been seeing 16″+ on the tails. Grouper and Mutton Snapper have been enjoying the warmth and there biting Ballywoo plugs, 145’+ is kingfish central with no small Kings around they’ve all been 10lbs and up 300+ has been making for good Mahi fishing since the weedlines are moving back in and you can still grab a sail on a live Blue Runner in the same depth.Inshore, docks, piers: Mangrove and Snapper have been biting really steady at the pier on a live Pilchard on bottom big Tarpon are moving in for the bait run. We’ve been even seeing some Spanish Mackerel at the docks.
Live bait: Pilchards by the thousands at the piers mixed in with Blue Runners and Ballywoo even coming close to shore.

Offshore: Beautiful tunas are in a frenzy right now and they are hungry with the Bonitas they are hitting Bonita strips on skirts on a slow troll but very close to the inlet, we caught a 70 lb Warsaw grouper in 300′ on a wreak using a guppie rig with Bonita chunks. Sails and dolphins are slowing down but the snappers are staying big and steady.Inshore, docks, piers: snappers and snook are hungry on the bait line but are smart, people are grabbing them on cut bait with a snapper liter sitting on bottom.
Live bait: Blue runners pilchards and greenies are inching towards offshore but are still plentiful by the piers on sabiki.

OFFSHORE- Dolphins galore in the depths of 800-1500′ under the seaweed lines and debris there easy to find from the seafarers flying over the bait fish in the weedlines, with sardines, cigar minnow and baitrunners trying to hide in them. The dolphins were nailing more of the live bait and picky with the lure and artificials Ok sized tunas will chase a rigged sardine. Not much on the sails or sword, Snappers are more than satisfying on the reefs.INSHORE- docks and piers: Decent size snappers and barracudas checking out the small bait fish under the planks, if you’re looking for a rush toss a big blue runner on and toss out for a shark which are devastating the shoreline right now.
BAIT REPORT- Big size goggle eyes and pilchards have been hard to come by but more than plenty smalls in the weeds and around the piers.

OFFSHORE: Hungry for some snapper? Some delicious kingfish? How about a powerful blackfin tuna? Right now our reefs are being dominated by anything from small to a baffling size! At 80+ were picking up anything from sharks to sails in the smallest waters or on the ledge of the reefs, toss out a skirt and grab mahi or marlin around 400-1500′ as they are wide spread right now. Lots of blacktips and hammerheads have been everywhere, if you want a big sized AJ the Millerlite wreak is the way to go using a 3oz vertical jig with a bright pink.INSHORE: Big tarpons are hungry and are eating everything around the best way to grab one is a live pilchard under a bobber using 2-3′ liter in the intercostal, snook are under the bridge.
LIVE BAIT: Still the pilchards in the thousands on and around the shoreline. The small mullets are slowly moving in.

OFFSHORE: Excellent reef fishing for the beautiful yellowtail and mutton snappers right now during the spawn season and they and just getting big and bigger! We’ve been finding them from 80+ feet for a snapper 20’+ for a tasty dinner, the kingfish have been plentiful on the ledges and trench areas on a live pilchard bait with steel leader or if you prefer vertical jigging move on out to 150-300′ for a shipwreck and pick up an Amberjack weighing in at 50+ lbs sailfish and wahoo have been spotty but the mahi have been becoming thicker from 200-1000′ through the weedline.INSHORE: The powerful tarpon are getting bigger and hungry around the inlets, snook, barracudas, spend mackerel have been seen destroying the baits but on the piers and shoreline the Sharks have been plentiful and aggressive.
LIVE BAIT: You can grab thousands of pilchards and greenies from anything close to shore since there has been spotty seaweed everywhere they have been catching them right on the shore and picking them out.

Offshore: The fishing has been phenomenal lately! There has been some amazing catches out there recently and they have been the brag of all brags. Its migration time for the Amberjacks and they have been STIRRED UP! You can find them on the wrecks in 120-400′ I’ve even seen a couple pushing 100+ the past couple days as well as big grouper. As your know grouper season has been open joining on two months now so make sure you get your hands dirty. The drift boats are catching lots of yellowtail and mangrove snappers. Sportfishing boats are catching a mix of tunas, bonitos, kingfish, mahi-mahi and wahoo.Inshore: There’s been small tarpons dominating the inlets and piers everyone’s out to get them as they start this time of year. The trout and mangrove snappers are getting a satisfying size wherever your can finds them around the piers, docks Anna bridges. The bridges have also been a stomping ground for snook to hide out.
Live bait: The bait fishing is picking up and there has been an abundance of pilchards on the shoreline as well as juvenile Blue Runners swarming in to eat them up, if that’s a fail you can go to the pier at night and pick up a few Goggleyes on a Sabiki rig using a .5oz on the end which is a dynamite way to grab a sailfish.

OFFSHORE: Bonita Strips are they key to success according to John Murey of Fishbolo ™ LLC. His Charters have been using fresh Bonita strips for everything including Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Blackfin Tuna and King Mackerel. They are even catching some big bull Mahi Mahi. The Tuna are moving around with the Bonita . You’ll find all of these fish without going too far offshore. At four miles out the water is about 200-300 feet deep. There are also some good big Barracuda out there too. INSHORE: Inshore the Tarpon bite is good on Shrimp. There are also some Mangrove and Lane Snapper. Chunk Mullet is good for just about everything. The Bridges are good holding a lot of drum. If you want to fish near shore you’ll find lots of small dolphin. You’ll be able to catch those on little blue runners. Nearshore the Snook are also hitting near bait pods and there is some Jack there too. They are also taking well to chunk Mullet.
BAIT: There is lots of Bonita around offshore, so you can catch your own, cut in into strips and then go after some bigger game.

OFFSHORE – The offshore fishing out of Deerfield Beach was good this week but not outstanding according to Captain John Murray of Fishbolo LLC.Just offshore a few miles on the various coral reefs that populate the waters, there were good quantities Mahi Mahi caught but they were on the smaller side.
Black Fin Tuna, King Mackerel are still in the area but the Sailfish appear to have migrated.
The Whaoo bite around the full moon last week was awesome as the fast moving game fish hammered bonita strips but this week was quiet.
When real bait is in short supply or not producing, the Bolo team aren’t afraid to put on an artificial lures custom lure made by Bolo TeamCaptain Stan Brewer who is a 40 year veteran of the waters of the Atlantic. They come in a variety of colours but you need to book a trip with the Bolo Team to use them because they are not for sale to the public.
BAIT REPORT – Live bait that’s easily accessible is scarce in this area right now so if you find some, get it, otherwise head to the bait shop.

OFFSHORE – Fishing offshore is quite good right now, especially if you are trolling. There is Dolphin and Wahoo biting. The Dolphin are 2-300 feet deep, and the Wahoo are 330 feet. That being said, the Dolphin depth can drastically change from day to day. The best bait to troll for them is Ballyhoo. There have been conflicted reports about bottom fishing, over at Fisherman’s One Stop they haven’t heard too much, but Atlantic Bait and Tackle assures me that bottom fishing is very good right now, especially if you are anchored and targeting the yellowtail. If you drive there is also a good bite for the Mangrove Snapper, Triggerfish, and Grouper.INSHORE – Our contact over at Atlantic Bait and Tackle recommends fishing around the structures close to shore; that is where the Mangrove Snapper are especially thick. If you are looking to catch the Tarpon they are thick on the inlets and bite strong on blue crab. If you would rather target the Snook then you want to be using live shrimp. That being said, depending on the conditions you may have luck with other baits and plenty of people catch Pilchards and Sardines and use those.
BAIT REPORT – There is bait around right now, there are Pilchards at the Pier and Inlet, they make great live bait, however, if you want some of the more specific baits mentioned go see Fisherman’s One Stop or Atlantic Bait and Tackle.
