Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – The bite has been steady inshore this week. For the most part everything is on schedule, aside from the recent wind which has thrown a few fish off. Trout and Redfish are resilient and when anglers are able to make it on the water they are catching fish. Target Trout during the golden hours, sunrise and sunset. With the weather and murky water you’ll want to be using live bait for attraction. The same story goes for Reds, however they are pushing up to the shallower water. They don’t necessarily mind a bit of dirty water, but they still like to keep shallow. Searching areas such as Pumphouse Road in Titusville will be key. Of course, we can’t forget about the Snook as they hold up on docks and mangrove shorelines up and down the coast. Sizes and numbers are good throughout. They too, will likely come on live bait. Deeper docks may be holding Drum, so don’t be surprised if you hook them as a bycatch. The new kid in town has been Bluefish, and they’re coming in with style. Huge sizes have invaded the beaches, in some areas scaring off other species. Pompano and Whiting can be caught from the beach as well, however they aren’t as consistent down the coast. Towards Indian River you can find them in the inlets, but be prepared for a fight.

OFFSHORE – Unsurprisingly wind has made it tough to get offshore this week however a few weather windows have allowed anglers to make quick trips and take advantage of the bite. By far, the best bite has been from the incoming Dolphin as they make their way in. Towards Daytona, anglers are still travelling quite far, to 2500 feet of water to find them. By the time we get to Indian River they are as close as 120 feet of water. The sizes are decent so far and when the weather allows they are definitely worth going after. The bottom bite is also producing this week. Amberjack have turned up from roughly 90 feet of water out of the Indian River area. Sandbar Sharks can also be found swimming offshore, but most anglers are avoiding them while targeting Ajs during the few opportunities they have. Swimming above, anglers are excited to see Kings making their way closer to shore. It shouldn’t be long before they are nearshore. Target them on the troll as they have been quite active over the past week.

INSHORE – Tripletail are in the port on the buoy lines. The inlet is holding a hot Snook (Snook, Common) bite into this week. Monster Bluefish are also around. They are New Jersey Bluefish holding up here and they are up to 20 pounds in big schools which is rare for the area. This time of year they are normally hot however they are usually up to 5 pounds. The big fish just seem to have taken a break on their way up. They will likely continue their move soon. Cobia are a bit scattered but anglers are hooking a few free swimmers here and there.

OFFSHORE – Dolphin fishing has begun to pick up from 150 to 200 feet of water, look for weedlines. Tuna are hot for anglers heading to the other side. Yellowfin (Tuna, Yellowfin) in particular are decent sizes as we head to the West side of the Gulf Stream and the bite is great.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – There is a superb variety of fish to be taken inshore this week. The Trout in particular are the main bite so far. The early morning and late evening bite has been, hands down, the best time to fish from Daytona to Port St. Lucie. A variety of setups are working to hook them including both live and artificial baits. As we move towards Titusville we see live bait being more successful. Overall there has been no trouble stacking up a few good Trout. Typically talking about Redfish goes hand in hand with Trout however this week they seem to be a bit more scattered. They are still worth targeting inshore however there are no impressive numbers to report.
Snook are a close second in terms of the hot bite. They, too, are being caught from Daytona through Port St. Lucie. They aren’t too picky in terms of what they have been taking. Artificials such as Spoolteks and Flare Hawks are working along with live Pilchards, Menhaden or Mullet. They seem to be an easy fish to land this week if you are looking for a quick catch.
The typical early Spring fish are beginning to heat up. We are seeing Sheepshead on structure, Drum in the Lagoon, along with Pompano, Bluefish and Whiting heating up on the beaches. We are also seeing tons of bait moving into the coastal areas. Everything is looking good to improve throughout the next few weeks and fire up a great Spring bite.

OFFSHORE – Now that we are finally seeing some nicer weather the bite is beginning to improve. Dolphin are the main catch from Daytona to Port St. Lucie. The sizes are great so far and the bite is steady. Anglers are targeting them anywhere from 150 feet of water and out, with some areas being just a bit closer in 90 feet. Anglers haven’t had any trouble hooking up the past week.
Kings are the next more prominent target into this week. They continue to show up, scattered with Cobia a bit closer to the coast. Anglers are trolling with live bait such as Ballyhoo or Cigar Minnows.
The bottom bite has been producing the usual Snapper and Amberjack anywhere from 60 feet and out. Cape Canaveral and Sebastian in particular have been hot areas to target them.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – Even though it’s been tough to get offshore this week there has been a fantastic bite for anglers heading to the surf or the inshore. We are seeing a nice variety of fish starting with a hot Drum bite from Daytona through Vero Beach area. As usual you can find them on structures as well as on the beaches and in the rivers. They are also taking a variety of bait setups including cut Clams, Shrimp or Fishbites. Plenty of Sheepshead are mixed in as they begin to fire up. You can fish them using similar bait setups.
As always, the typical Redfish, Trout and Snook are hanging around. Redfish seem to prefer the Island life so areas like Cucumber Island and the spoil islands will be key. Trout are improving as we move South but if you are targeting them be prepared to be heading out in the early morning for the best bite. Snook can’t seem to make up their minds so they are just about everywhere. It doesn’t take much looking to find them however hooking them will require Pinfish or Greenies this week.
Scattered reports of Flounder on the jetties as well as Pompano and Mackerel on the beach are beginning to come in and they should fire up as the weather improves. Bait is also beginning to show up which is a promising sign.

OFFSHORE – Despite tough fishing conditions there still some anglers braving the waters to take advantage of the unpressured bite. That being said, most reports are coming from closer wrecks and reefs with the bottom bite being more successful. Snapper are turning up in a variety of species this week and can be found consistently from Daytona to Vero. Head out to about 12 miles or look for ledges in 90 feet of water to find the best fish.
With the recent wind there has surprisingly been little debris floating around for Dolphin to be swimming under, so they are fairly scattered into this week. There are some nice catches turning up for anglers trolling Ballyhoo however they are nowhere near a steady bite. King Mackerel and Cobia are hit or miss throughout the region however they are out there if you are targeting them. If you can make it far enough offshore on a nice day, Sailfish have been caught out of Port St. Lucie.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – Snook season has been pretty good throughout the Central East Coast of Florida. The hottest bite this week was out of Ft. Pierce. Charter Captains and recreational anglers alike were finding success on live bait or jigs around bridges. Port St. Lucie saw good action in the spillway and locks, you can use shiners here. Nighttime Snook anglers are crediting most of the catches to using Windcheaters, Long As, Live Targets and also Shrimp. Pompano, when you can fish the surf, are decent from the beach in Daytona and Cocoa Beach but windy. They are also at the inlet around Ft. Peirce. Anglers are also doing well from the beach in port. St. Lucie fishing from Sandbar into the drop using goofy jigs or flare hawks. There has been Bluefish mixed in aswell. The Redfish and Trout bite has been steady, though not amazing. The best reports we had all week came from Mosquito Lagoon, where fish were tailing when the wind took a break. The bite was also good near Queen’s Cove on an outgoing tide, and Port St. Lucie saw both Trout and Redfish doing alright to the South.

OFFSHORE – Anglers saw a few bumpy days this week. We would normally expect reports on Mahi, Sailfish, Snappers and Grouper at this time of year. Blame the weather for a limited number of fishable days. Wahoo fishing was slow but should pick up out of Daytona as the full moon sets in. Amberjack have fished well from 80 to 130 feet of water. A live pinfish or other live bait sent to the bottom should do the trick. Red Snapper have been caught and released all over, especially off of Daytona. There are also a lot of reports of Kingfish caught this past week. Good numbers, combined with some poor seas, have kept a lot of angler in 60 to 90 feet of water trolling Clarkspoons, Bluerunners and Threadfins.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – Trout fishing has been much better here than for Northeast Florida. If you like Trout fishing with live bait, expect to get into some Snook as well. Since the water has been warm, the Snook are fired up from Daytona to anywhere south of that. Most of the big Snook have been caught in the high current areas such as inlets. There’s still some Pompano being caught from the surf throughout the region, they just aren’t on fire. Whiting are mixed in with the Pompano and you can fish some inshore structures for Sheepshead.

OFFSHORE – A few bumpy days kept the boats close and the focus on Cobia, Kings and Ajs. Cape Canaveral landings saw decent number of King Mackerel and Cobia landed this week. Most of the Kings came off of 8A or Pelican, Cobia from fishing structures. There hasn’t been much talk of Cobia on Rays yet, we’re going to have to stick to deeper water for now. It can’t hurt, however, to keep an eye out for them when fishing buoys for Tripletail. Amberjack continued to fish well when the boats could get to at least 80 feet of water. Some popular baits were live Pinfish and Pigfish.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – Shallow water anglers around Titusville and into Mosquito Lagoon had a few days of good Redfish, Black Drum and Trout fishing. Most of the fish were caught on the flats. Haulover Canal in particular also had a good Sheepshead bite. The beaches from New Smyrna down to Sebastian had good scatterings of Pompano and some Whiting. Southern Flounder were even caught off of Sebastian area beaches.

OFFSHORE – Private Boats and Charter Boats alike found good King Mackerel opportunities from Cape Canaveral down to Sebastian Inlet. Off of Cape Canaveral in particular, Captains reported lots of Kings being caught around 8A. The only thing that seemed to slow the fishing down was a little bit of weather.
Cobia reports were slim this week although the Palm Bay / Melbourne area did offer up some of these fish in 60 ft of water. Offshore bait had been a little lean from Daytona Beach and South towards Stuart, trolling for Dolphin only saw a few boats hooking Gaffers.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – Beach fishing has been decent throughout the region. Whiting, Bluefish and Pompano are being caught in good numbers up around New Smyrna Beach. As you go South towards Cocoa Beach you will begin to see more Redfish, Black Drum and Sharks such as Blacktip, Spinner and Blacknose on the beach. Palm Bay and Melbourne area in particular has a good number of Sharks chasing Whiting on the beach.
Inlet fishing from Palm Bay down to Port St. Lucie has been really productive for Snook anglers. Jack Crevalle are also being caught while Snook fishing. Most of the Jacks have been caught South of Vero beach.
Trout and Redfish haven’t been spectacular by any means however they are around any of the usual inshore flats and creeks all throughout Indian River. Shrimp, MirrOdines and DOAs will hook them.


OFFSHORE – For anyone looking to catch some Wahoo on the high speed troll they can travel to the gulf stream out of Daytona / New Smyrna area or South of Port St. Lucie. Dolphin have been really scattered. The best areas to head out of will be Palm Bay / Melbourne or farther South of Stuart. Kingfish and Sailfish have been decent when the boats can get out. Successful boats have launched out of Port Canaveral, Fort Pierce and South.
Offshore and nearshore bottom fishing was strongest from Palm Bay down to Vero Beach. Mostly Lanes and Vermillion Snapper are turning up. As you move farther South Mangroves are mixed in. Particularly off of Stuart there are plenty of catch and release Triggerfish. The only real word on Cobia came in from anglers fishing the wrecks and reefs out of Vero Beach.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – In the Lagoon, there are some schools of Redfish (Drum, Red) and Black Drum showing back up on the flats this week. We are seeing them around the cooler points of the day. Try the early morning or evening bites. We are seeing big Redfish and Black Drum taking live Shrimp at the Haulover Canal. Down the river, the Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are beginning to show up with Drum around the bridges. Schools of Drum (Drum, Black) are running the surf as well. INSHORE – A lot of Black Drum (Drum, Black) are around the bridges and causeway in the Lagoon. Big Reds are mixed in with with Sheepshead in Haulover. Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are biting well down South. Cocoa Beach and further South are doing well. Sand Fleas are sporadic on the beach. If you can find them, use them. They are slower to the North. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are on the flats mixed with the Reds (Drum, Red). They can also be found in the river. 3 ft of water is key. INSHORE – Cucumber Island and Tiger Shoals are on fire. The beach is slowing down but 1 and 10 are still productive. The winds have made fishing tough. Black Drum (Drum, Black) are biting well around the pier at night from roughly 11-2am. Blue Crab are working well to hook them. Redfish (Drum, Red) are taking Shrimp or cut Mullet. Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – Tiger Shoals and Whale’s Tail is are the only reliable places to fish the Lagoon this week. Reds (Drum, Red) are biting but are picky. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are doing well. Most are small but are showing up in good numbers. Once you move to the canal we are seeing big Reds and Black Drum. Towards the Railroad bridge we are seeing Black Drum (Drum, Black) at night. At the Titusville Pier, Shrimp is doing well to pick up nighttime Black Drum. During the day small Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Catfish (Catfish, Hardhead) have been caught. At the beach, parking lot 1 and 10 are producing Pompano (Pompano, Florida), Bluefish and small Whiting (Kingfish, Southern). Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – In Mosquito Lagoon and the Mouth of the Haulover we are seeing nice Drum (Drum, Black). Towards Tiger Shoals we are seeing some Reds (Drum, Red). By Whales Tail they are stacked up but are providing a tough bite. In the canal we are seeing Black Drum and big Reds taking cut Mullet and Crab. Around Titusville Bridge the Black Drum are biting well at night. Number 1 beach is doing well for Pompano (Pompano, Florida) and some Whiting (Kingfish, Southern). 7 is also getting good Pompano and Whiting as is 11. There’s also Bluefish along these and other stretches. A lot of fish are being caught on the slack tide. Thanks for another great year anglers! INSHORE – There has been some slot Reds (Drum, Red) in the Lagoon. Tiger Shoals and Whales Tail are great areas. Live Shrimp is the key to hooking them, especially in the morning. There are a lot of Drum (Drum, Black) in the canal. They can be caught both in the morning and at night. The beach is great for Pompano (Pompano, Florida), Bluefish and Whiting (Kingfish, Southern). Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – Haulover canal has been good for Drum (Drum, Black) and Redfish (Drum, Red). Live Blue Crabs are working well along with Fresh Dead Shrimp. Throughout Mosquito Lagoon we are seeing schools of Red and Black Drum tailing together. Look for the birds diving on the Shrimp to find the fish. First thing in the morning or into the evening has been producing the best bite. The beach is on fire for Pompano (Pompano, Florida) and Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) taking Sand fleas. INSHORE – The beach is providing the best bite for Whiting (Kingfish, Southern), Pompano (Pompano, Florida) and a ton of Bluefish this week. Parking lot 7, 11 and 8 are the best areas to hit up. The bite has been tough in the river. The fish are there but they don’t seem to be eating. This could be due to the recent weather. We are expecting a bit of a cold snap for this weekend. Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – There has been a lot of Drum (Drum, Black), big Sheepshead and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) caught here and there. Haulover is doing well along with the South end of Mosquito Lagoon. Most anglers are heading out at first light or in the evening. Live Blue Crab and Shrimp are your most productive baits this week. Blue Crab are particularly good for the Redfish. The beach has been holding Bluefish and Pompano (Pompano, Florida). There’s a lot of Sand Fleas around and they are a great bait for Pompano. BAIT REPORT – Mullet are gone. Shrimping has been hit or miss. There’s a good amount of Sand Fleas on the beach. Look for Sand Fleas in the shimmering ripples of the wash zone when the water recedes. You should be able to scoop or rake some Sand Fleas out of the sand.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – Haulover is hit or miss this week. A lot of the fishing has been the same. The Lagoon is holding a few schools of nice Reds (Drum, Red). You’ll just have to make sure you’re working all the areas because you won’t get much if you don’t cover water. The beach is beginning to pick up. A few Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are coming out of South County with a bit of Whiting (Kingfish, Southern). The bite should pick up by the end of the month. INSHORE – The Haulover Canal is holding Redfish and Drum (Drum, Black). Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are showing back up on the beach around the 9 and 10 Parking lots. The wind is making the water a bit choppy but the beaches are beginning to pick up. Shrimp, Fishbites and Sand Fleas are best this week for the Pompano. Mangrove Snapper (Snapper, Gray) are being caught consistently. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are still small. In the lagoon, Tiger Shoals is still fishing well. Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – In Mosquito Lagoon we are seeing a hit or miss bite. The water is high but we are seeing Reds and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) near Beacon 42, near Tiger Shoals around the pole and troll zone using cut bait and live Finger Mullet. First light is the best time to fish. Haulover canal is on fire for oversized Redfish (Drum, Red). They are well over 40 inches using live Blue Crab and cut Mullet. Rig them on the bottom using them whole or cutting them in half. Live or frozen is good. In the river we are seeing Black Drum (Drum, Black) and Sheepshead all the way to Melbourne. The Sheepshead are huge. The Drum run all the way to the Causeway. On the beach there are small Pompano (Pompano, Florida) and good Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish). Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – It’s very windy this week! Redfish (Drum, Red) are scattered. Black Drum (Drum, Black) are biting with the occasional Snapper (Snapper, Gray) around the Titusville pier. There are not a lot of them. There are also some Reds coming out of Haulover. The surf is blown out. Normally we would see Pompano (Pompano, Florida), Jacks (Jack, Crevalle), Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) and Blacktip Sharks (Shark, Blacktip). Following the hurricane anglers have had trouble making it back out. The lagoon water is dirty and the levels are about 2.5 ft higher. INSHORE – The beach just opened back up (partially) and we haven’t heard any word from the area. The Lagoon has high water from the storm. Stay really close to the shoreline as it is deep right off the bank. The fish are hanging very close to the shoreline. There are some nice Reds (Drum, Red) taking paddle tails by Grand Slam in Peppermint Crunch. Tarpon are beginning to show up South of Port St. John and 528 in the Indian River. Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – The weather has kept a lot of anglers off the water recently. Prior to the system we were seeing quite a few Seatrout (Seatrout, Spotted) at the edge of the dropoff in 3 ft. The South end of the Lagoon was producing Reds (Drum, Red) but a lot of them have moved North. There are a lot of big Trout in the area as well. Free Lining Pigfish, Pinfish or throwing artificials has been the best bet. There are still Black Drum (Drum, Black) hitting off the pier although they did slow down a bit. They are up to 30 lbs. The beaches are blown out. The Pompano (Pompano, Florida) should show up any time after the storm clears. Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – In the lagoon there are Reds and Trout. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are especially great on Grand Slam baits as well as Pinfish and Grunts. The early morning first light bite is best. The bite slows down around 9am. Work the shorelines or holes to find them. The Reds (Drum, Red) are tailing this week, first thing in the morning as well. There are plenty of them. In the river there are some Tarpon showing up along with some Drum (Drum, Black). Mangrove Snapper (Snapper, Gray) are holding up around bridges taking Shrimp. INSHORE – The bite in the river and the lagoon has been hot for big Reds (Drum, Red), especially at first light before the heat comes out. Cut bait and artificials are working if you look for tailing Reds up to 50 inches. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are up to 30 inches and they are taking topwaters in the morning. Drum (Drum, Black) have slowed down. Haulover Canal is hit or miss with Drum and Reds. The beach is slow but there is some Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) and Jacks (Jack, Crevalle) turning up. There are tons of Sharks (Shark, Blacktip & Shark, Bonnethead). Shrimp and cut bait will work well to find them. Everyone is usually off the water by 9am as it is so hot. Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – Drum (Drum, Black) are going crazy on the Eastern Shoreline from the Titusville Pier to Veteran’s Memorial Park. There are some Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) mixed in. The bite is hot in the early morning and late afternoon. The pier is great at night. Near the Taco Bell area there is a concrete pad that has produced a hot bite. Haulover has produced Black Drum, monster Reds (Drum, Red) and a lot of Catfish (Catfish, Gafftopsail). Tiger Shoals in the Lagoon are holding schooling Reds on the canal side. They are a little picky this week. Shrimp and Ladyfish are the best bait. The beach has Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) that are taking Shrimp, Clams, Fish bites and Sand Fleas.

INSHORE – There has been a lot of big Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) in the South Lagoon. Drum (Drum, Black) are all over the flats in the river this week. They are tailing and can be difficult to catch. Dead Shrimp on the bottom will hook them. The beach is slow however there are a few reports of Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) here and there. Blacktip Sharks (Shark, Blacktip) are mixed in which is typical of this time of year. You may even find some in the river. If you head South towards the Fort you may find some Bull Sharks (Shark, Bull) that are breeding in the river.

INSHORE – The fishing has been wonderful this week and the weather is hot. Black Drum (Drum, Black) are being caught on Frozen Shrimp. A lot of Redfish (Drum, Red) have turned up. Mangrove Snapper (Snapper, Gray) at the Port St. John Boat Ramp along with the West Bank. The Rinker Canal and PIne Island are hot for Black Drum, Redfish and a few Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). The Gator hole is always holding Black Drum and Redfish. On the East Bank you’ll find nice Trout in the grass flats. In Peacock’s Pocket there are some Redfish as well.

INSHORE – A lot of Drum (Drum, Black) are on the run and loving fresh dead or frozen Shrimp. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are hitting Pigfish and Pinfish under a popping cork. INSHORE – Drum (Drum, Black) has been going crazy from US 1 to the Taco Bell and McDonalds. This is the hot bite this week. Evenings have been better for them. They are biting all day long though. INSHORE – The wind and rain has kept a lot of anglers off the water. Those who have braved the conditions are reporting Bluefish from the surf. Big Bull Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) mixed in with some small sizes are also swimming. The flowing pipes on the Wildlife Refuge has some Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red). This is the main focus. The water is still a bit murky due to the algae bloom. Cut baits and anything with scent is working better so the fish don’t need to see the bait in the dirty water. We hope to see conditions pick up once the weather passes.

INSHORE – So far this week, things are quite slow. In the Lagoon and at the mouth of the Haulover Canal, the fishing is adequate. There are Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) in the Haulover Canal, but you have to be there early in the morning or late at night if you want to catch them. In the mouth of the lagoon, anglers are catching Redfish and Drums (Drum, Black). The beach this week has been really slow and the fish don’t seem to be biting. Hopefully we will be seeing more fish in the area soon as the water begins to warm up

INSHORE – Drums (Drum, Black) have been seen biting at Haulover and tend to bite the most near night time close to the pier. The Mangroves (Snapper, Gray) and some large Reds (Drum, Red) have been spotted at Haulover. So far, the best bait for the Reds seems to be live Blue Crab and Shrimp. INSHORE – In Mosquito Lagoon area Reds (Drum, Red) and Black Drum (Drum, Black) are on the flats. The large gator Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have moved up on the flats as well. Reds and Trout are loving live bait. Black Drum are hitting live Shrimp, Crabs as well as dead Crabs and dead Shrimp. Towards Titusville and Cocoa area the beach is hit and miss. It’s still a mixed bag. A few Redfish are on the beach along with some Sheepshead and Whiting (Kingfish, Southern). Pompano (Pompano, Florida) have pretty much moved away already. OFFSHORE – Redfish (Drum, Red) and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are hitting cut bait. Live bait is working here and there. Nice sized Trout upwards of 20 inches are the consistent catches in the Lagoon. Haulover Canal has nice sized Drum (Drum, Black) on live or dead Crabs. Snook (Snook, Common) bite is great in the port near Cocoa Beach. Tripletail are just outside on the buoys. The Bluefish have moved in and they are large. The Mangrove (Snapper, Gray) bite has been good as well as the Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) bite that has moved back into the port. Heads up! INSHORE – Haulover canal is still producing nice sized Redfish (Drum, Red) and Drum (Drum, Black) using large Shrimp or cut Ladyfish. Blue Crabs are producing well too and steers you away from the Catfish. They are biting well through to Port St. John and there are some Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) in the area as well. We have not seen fish kill as of yet. The beach is producing Pompano (Pompano, Florida), Whiting (Kingfish, Southern), Sharks (Shark, Bonnethead & Shark, Blacktip) and Bluefish. The Pompano are up to 18 inches on fish bites or live Sand Fleas. The Sharks are as close as 2-3 ft and will hit just about anything but seem to prefer Shrimp. We expect this bite to continue into the weekend.

INSHORE – North of the bridges we have seen some decent bridges but the South was hit by a bit of the fish kill. The Haulover Canal is still great and Peacock’s Pocket and the Lagoon are still in good condition. Towards the beach we are seeing small blues, the occasional Pompano (Pompano, Florida) and Whiting (Kingfish, Southern). There are tons of Blues although they are small. Cut mullet has been the key to hooking them. Shrimp has worked well for the Pompano and Whiting.

INSHORE – Pompano, Florida are running great on the beach this week. Live Sand Fleas or fresh, dead Shrimp will be the best method to hook them. Sand Fleas are more productive. There are some Reds (Drum, Red) on cut Mullet or cut Pinfish. The scent attracts them in the muddy water. Between 10am and 2pm has provided the best bite.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) are extremely populous along the beach this week. There are also reports of Bluefish and Pompano (Pompano, Florida) however they are more moderate. There are also some Drum, Black being caught on Sand Fleas, Frozen Clams and fresh or frozen Shrimp. This will work for all the surf fish this week. INSHORE – Drum (Drum, Black) and Reds (Drum, Red) are around this week. The Drum are still in the canal but not as hot this week. The wind has produced a fast current that is difficult to fish. Beaches 1, 4 and 11 are producing nice Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) and Pompano (Pompano, Florida). Gator’s Creek and Catfish Loop has been holding some great sizes of Reds.

INSHORE – The beach is holding a lot of Pompano, Florida and even more Whiting (Kingfish, Southern). They can be caught on live Sand Fleas and fresh dead Shrimp. The Backwater is producing Drum, Black on the same bait or live Shrimp. Reds (Drum, Red) are showing up again since the weather has improved as well. OFFSHORE – There is some great action offshore. There were two 150 lbs Sharks (Shark, Dusky). Kings (Mackerel, King) are swimming along with some Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) jumping. Tuna, Blackfin has been turning up around 30 miles out and the weather has been great. The Pelican flats have been a great place to fish.

INSHORE – Drum (Drum, Black) are starting at the North end of the Haulover by the creek as well as by the Titusville Pier at night. Their sizes have been consistently decent at this point. Early morning or late evening has produced the best bite. Blue Crabs are the hot bait for the Drum however Shrimp, Clams and Squid are a great alternative. Everything is eating right now. Peacock’s Pocket is also holding some great Reds (Drum, Red) that are hitting all day long. Chunking Mullet and Ladyfish has been the best method to hook them this week.

INSHORE – Haulover Canal is producing some great Drum, Black this week. The beaches are still blown out. Reds (Drum, Red) can be caught on cut bait such as a cut Ladyfish. The weather has mixed up a lot of fish and kept anglers inside for the most part. We hope to see the bite improve once conditions settle down and the water is more preferable for fish.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – The main bite inshore has been the Reds (Drum, Red) so far this week. They are loving cut bait as the water is so dirty this is the best bet to attract them. There have been the occasional Drum (Drum, Black) turn up however they are not consistent and are difficult to target in the messy water. There are no signs of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) so far this week however we do not expect they have moved out and we are hoping to see some once the water conditions clear up.

OFFSHORE – When weather allows, anglers have gone 14-16 miles offshore to target Kings (Mackerel, King) which are doing well this week. The sizes are good and the bite is consistent for anglers using falling dead Sardines or Cigar Minnows. Live bait such as Threadfins and Pilchards have been producing well too. We have not had reports of Snapper (Snapper, Mutton & Snapper, Gray) yet this week. The occasional Sail (Billfish – Sailfish) has turned up along with a few Mahi (Dolphin) however they have not been frequent or the target for most anglers.

BAIT REPORT – There is a ton of Mullet in the canals that anglers can cast net and easily stock up. The best catch has been at night as they move to this area when it’s cold.

INSHORE – The main focus this week as been on Drum (Drum, Black). There are tons of them and anglers are having no trouble reeling them in. They are loving live Shrimp or fresh dead Shrimp. Basically any Shrimp you can get your hands on. There is not a lot of reports of Drum, Red and the Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have been all tiny so far this week. Everyone is going after Drum.

OFFSHORE – The hot bite this week from the offshore has been the Barracuda, Great and Kings (Mackerel, King) on the reefs. There has also been consistent Snapper (Snapper, Mutton & Snapper, Gray) coming off the bottom. They are loving cut bait.

BAIT REPORT – If you’re willing to put the time in you can still catch some Mullet however they have been quite scarce so far this week.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – The Haulover inlet has been holding a great deal of Drum, Black this week and they are on fire. Anglers are finding it difficult to keep their line in the water. The Tiger Shoals are finding the same thing. There are also Bull Reds (Drum, Red) mixed in there as well. The early morning bite for both species is the way to go, tide doesn’t matter. Mullet are the best bait for the Reds while the Drum prefer Blue Crabs. They are all right on the banks so anglers don’t need to throw far from the area.

OFFSHORE – In the offshore there have not been a lot of boats heading out due to weather. Triggerfish and Snapper, Mutton and Snapper, Vermillion are still turning up so far. The Mahi (Dolphin) bite has continued through the rough weather and we expect the same results when conditions lie down.

INSHORE – The surf fishing has been fairly productive this week. Anglers are using live Sand Fleas for a solid Pompano, Florida bite along with some Whiting (Kingfish, Southern). There have also been Bluefish turning up on cut bait. The Haulover Inlet is producing 45 inch and bigger Reds (Drum, Red) and Drum (Drum, Black) on live Blue Crabs. Shrimp and Finger Mullet are working especially for the Reds.



BAIT REPORT – Roe Mullet are beginning to come through this week along with plenty of Finger Mullet. They are not easy to catch however as the water is still dirty.

Titusville Fishing Report

INSHORE – The action in this area has slowed down a bit this week. Peacock’s Pocket and the Haulover Inlet are the best places to fish so far. There are lots of Drum (Drum, Black) and Reds (Drum, Red) holding up in these areas. The sizes are decent, nothing extraordinarily big or small. Since the weather has cooled down they are a little less active which has created a spotty bite. They are hitting live Shrimp which are not difficult to find this week. A lot of anglers have been Shrimping this week as it has been on fire. Oak Hill has been a great place to net them however the tide has been off lately so it is becoming a bit hit or miss. Haulover Inlet has lots of Shrimp, it’s hard not to catch in this area. The TItusville Pier has been hit or miss as well but on a good day you can stock up on a ton of Shrimp. The windy weather seems to be pushing them around causing their spottiness. There are there, you just need to find them. So far there are no reports of Seatrout, Spotted however with the nice weather expected this weekend we hope to see some come in.



BAIT REPORT – Shrimp seem to be just about everywhere in this area and although the wind has made them spotty, they can be netted fairly easily when they show up. They are working well for inshore bait.

INSHORE – The action inshore has picked up a bit this week with the nicer weather. Reds (Drum, Red) are the most populous fish so far. They are showing up from the flats on jigs with cut bait. Most of them are slot sized but there are a few spotty bigger sizes out there too. Some anglers are coming across Drum (Drum, Black) on Shrimp and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) in various sizes but for the most part the Reds are more prominent.

OFFSHORE – Anyone going offshore this week has been hooking Kings (Mackerel, King) on the slow troll. They have been using live bait such as Cigar Minnows and Sardines. The bite is completely dependant on the weather from day to day so it’s difficult to say whether this will continue into the weekend, however if the weather stays nice, so will the bite.

INSHORE – The Reds (Drum, Red) have been difficult to find this week due to the high wind conditions. Angler have been using cut bait to find them. When conditions lie down both species should be around and cut Mullet or cut Ladyfish will be the key bait.

INSHORE – There is quite a bit of action on the beach this week. Pompano, Florida are mixed in with Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) and Bluefish all close to the shoreline. The weather has been so rough this week that the rivers are completely washed out. There are still some Drum, Black swimming along with a lot of oversized Reds (Drum, Red). More of the keeper sizes are being found in the flats at this point. The Shrimp have been on fire just about everywhere from the canals to the piers to Oak hills. INSHORE – Drum, Black has been hot in this area lately. Anglers have been catching them off the banks using fresh dead or live Shrimp. They haven’t been picky and you don’t even need a cork. There have been some good hits on Seatrout, Spotted as well however they have been coming up in smaller sizes on a paddle tail. Our sources are expecting them to get bigger once the cold front sets in this weekend. The bites and sizes should both increase. OFFSHORE – Dolphin have been singling out in the deeper water. This has made them far more sporadic. They have mainly been found around the 20 mile buoy mark. At the edge of the stream anglers can find lots of Wahoo in around 250 ft of water. They are chasing Ballyhoo with light colored skirts in pink and blue. BAIT REPORT – There are no bait running to report at this time however expectation is that the upcoming cold front will bring in the Shrimp that all the inshore fish chase. INSHORE – The beach seems to be doing pretty well lately. There have been some small Pompano (Pompano, Florida), Bluefish and Whiting (Kingfish, Southern). Shrimp and cut mullet are working well in the surf but you can use just about anything everywhere else. Blue Crab has been key for the large Reds (Drum, Red). INSHORE – Reds (Drum, Red) are running rampant in the rivers right now. Anglers are barely keeping their line in the water. Frozen Shrimp are the bait of choice right now, it’s all anglers sopping at Allan Roy’s Tackle Shop are using. Dropping around the boat ramp there are reports of Reds, Drum (Drum, Black) and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). Vudu Mullet or frozen Mullet are also working well so it’s a good idea to bring these with you. Our sources also reported a Grand Slam over the weekend when the weather lied down. They were all using artificial bait for that particular run.

INSHORE – It seems like everywhere is being hit with wind and there is no exception here. The beach has been torn up for almost a week. There are very few spots on the beach you can fish right now. That said, diehard anglers are taking their kayaks up the shoals to find some nice Redfish using Cut Bait made from Mullet. We are hoping to see the wind die down in the next few days but it is creating a real challenge for anyone looking to get out at this point.

BAIT REPORT – We continue to see plenty of Mullet in the systems right now both down the inlets and still on the beaches. They run is probably at peak as they make their way through the systems which we expect to bring a lot more fish around. Not too much is happening on the shrimp front right now as they have become quite spotty.

OFFSHORE – The water is getting really dirty, so the Kings are starting to push away. It’s been mainly bottom fishing, so you’re going to go for Amberjack, Grouper and Triggerfish. We have been seeing a lot more Sea Bass come in along with Snapper. They can be found in any type of structure or reef. You’re going to want to go out about 8 miles from shore. If you’re bottom fishing, Croakers or Pogies are working well. INSHORE – The Redfish are spawning all over the place. The beach has got the Mullet run happening now. Cocoa Fishing Report / Titusville

OFFSHORE – At 240 to 300 ft there are a lot of nice Dolphin being caught. If you get out to 900 ft you can almost walk on the Dolphin they’re so thick. If you go too deep and you’ll probably limit out for the day. To get from 300 ft to 900 ft is only 20 to 30 minute ride. To get to the big patches check out between 900 ft and 1500 ft and look for color change, water change, temperature change, and stuff floating. Ballyhoo with blue and white, black and gold, or pink and white skirts are working well right now. INSHORE – Anglers will be happy, on the west shoreline Snook are biting. Mangrove Snapper are going nuts. Mud Minnows and Shrimp are going to be your best bets for hooking them. If you stick to the bridges and structures, you’ll find them.

BAIT REPORT – Still waiting on mullet to thicken up and they’re pretty scattered at times. In a week, week and a half they should be running down the beach, in two weeks expect to see them filling up Cape Canaveral.

OFFSHORE – There’s some really good sized Dolphin have moved in quite a bit here. Lots of 20-30lb fish are being caught. They are quite concentrated as well. They were in 400-500 feet of water last week and are now in just 240 – 300 feet of water. That’s about a 20-25 mile run offshore. There are good weedlines out there, and the best part is that there’s a color change out there too. Skirted Ballyhoo works better out there than bare. Blue/White, Pink/White, and Black/Orange are all hot color combos right now.

INSHORE – The weather system that came through has put some rain on the area and this has helped cool things off. OFFSHORE – Dolphin are being found along the weeds in 400 to 700 feet of water. They’ve been hitting bubble blasters in Blue and White, Pink and White, Red and Orange. Daisy chains of Squid are also working well. There’s been some Wahoo and Kings all over Hetzel and 8a. The above mentioned trolling lures are working for the Wahoo as well. Keep in mind that they usually prefer to hit bait a faster than Dolphin, so you’ll want to be pulling about 14mph on the upper end. The bottom bite has been very good and the reefs have been producing lots of Triggerfish and Sea Bass with the deeper reefs offering up some big Grouper and some Snapper.

INSHORE – Beaches have been producing Whiting with some sparse Pompano. The inlet at Jetty Park has Mangrove Snapper and Gag Grouper. Sheepshead are being caught on the pilings by the 405. Redfish have been on the shoreline from Manatee Cove to the barge canal.

OFFSHORE – The main bite offshore has been Kingfish, Amberjacks, and Mangrove Snapper. The bottom fishing the last few weeks hasn’t been good, but it is starting to pick up again and people are catching decent sized mangroves off of the reefs. You want to troll for the Kingfish, and you can catch them anywhere from the beach line to the trough.

INSHORE – The story here for the past week has been Black Drum. The waters near the 528 bridge on Merritt Island have been holding good numbers of fish. The southeast shoreline of the NASA Causeway is also a good spot to fish. Shrimp is currently the bait of choice.

BAIT REPORT – There are spotty numbers of Finger Mullet around right now. They’re being found in very small groups though, maybe a dozen at a time. The Mullet are still around and they are fairly big, but are easy to find than Finger Mullet.

Titusville / Cocoa / Indian River / Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – The bottom fishing is still slow, but it is there. Trolling for Wahoo has been good. There were two Cobia caught yesterday and a bunch of Kings. If you are fishing buoy 8A is good. Try heading 17-18 miles out from the port. There are lots of fish there. However, if you are an old hand to the area and are looking for a little something else then you want to head to the Cones. Eddy at the Water’s Edge saw a guy come in with 5 Grouper over 50 pounds and a Golden Tile from there. The water is warming up and those big fish are hungry as hell out there!

INSHORE – There’s been lots of Trout being caught in the river. Cut Mullet and Ladyfish are going to help with success. IT’s important to remember that with this heat, you’re going to want to fish slow. If opting to throw artificials, Grand Slam Peppermint Crunch will work well and pearl colored plastics are great, too!

BAIT REPORT – Lots of small Mullet are being found along the banks and shores. Right now you can also find Pinfish in there as well.

Titusville / Cocoa / Indian River / Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report

INSHORE – The tiger shoals are really good right now north of beacon 42 in the lagoon. The Tarpon are at the north end of the Indian river near Scotsmore. Darren at Action Bait & Tackle hasn’t seen any Red or Black Drum over the course of the last four days. The Tarpon are biting hard on Mullet and Pinfish. The Lagoon is going to be the same as the river, but in there you are going to want to fish the flats. If you do find some Redfish they will probably also be biting on the Mullet.

BAIT REPORT – Mullet and pinfish are in the river, you can catch your own but not a ton. Mullet run hasn’t come through.

OFFSHORE – See Cape Canaveral.

INSHORE – Carly at Captain Hooks Bait & Tackle was telling me that the drum bite is good in the lagoon. There are Black Drum, and Red Drum biting. The Reds are over sized, but they are also mixed in with some small Tarpon. At the beaches there are some sharks and Whiting. If you want the Redfish you should try to fish for them either late in the day or early in the morning with cut or whole mullet, or live shrimp. The Black Drum in comparison like the live Shrimp, but will settle if they are freshly dead.

BAIT REPORT – There are some small Finger Mullet, most about 3 inches. Give it a while and they will hit a nice, ripe, 4 inches.

Cocoa / Titusville Fishing Report

RIVER – The Trout and Black Drum are being caught wherever the water is clear, and the story is the same in the Lagoon. We are catching some decent sized Reds and Black Drum in Haulover Canal. Cut bait and live shrimp are the best right now. If you are going to go artificial then you are going to want to use any kind of paddle tail bait. Slayer baits in that style are working great.

INSHORE – Pretty much everything is biting inshore right now. Redfish, Trout, Black Drum, Tarpon, Snook, and Flounder are all around you just have to target them specifically. North of the 405 on the west side is where you are going to catch Trout. On the east shoreline, still north of the 405, you are going to catch mostly Redfish. Watch the water level because it is really thin right now. There is also going to be your usual junk fish like blowfish, sharks, catfish, and stingrays so keep an eye out. I have also heard that the beach is doing well at markers 1, 6, and 9.

BAIT REPORT – Bait is scarce right now. There are bigger mullet which make for excellent cut bait, however, the little mullet are scarce.

Cocoa / Titusville Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Bottom fishing, people are catching Grouper, Amberjack, and Kings every now and again. There is the occasional Cobia mixed in. You want to try and bottom fish reefs and wrecks in the 150 range, but feel free to float around. Dropping down squid and sardines has proved to be really good right now. If you would rather feel the wind against your face, you can try going trolling for the Wahoo with a chugger.

INSHORE – The Redfish are everywhere. They are hanging out at the bait pods so look for the running Mullet, Pinfish, and Glass Minnows. The Speckled Trout are chasing the smaller fish too. Karen at Captain Hooks Bait & Tackle mentioned that her brother was doing well with fresh dead Mullet. At the beach they are catching Whiting and Sharks. If you aren’t going to use Mullet then you want to go with frozen Shrimp, Sand Fleas, Clam, or Squid. Apparently there was a ton of bait in Haulover Canal earlier this week and somewhere in the local area a record breaking Trout was caught. Fishing is good right now and you could get out there and make a name for yourself – or just have fun like I do.

Cocoa / Titusville Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Just like last week, there are still Kingfish, Tuna and Dolphin. They are loving the Ballyhoo as always. You’ll likely want to buy some Ballyhoo before you head out because it has been a little scarce. Hook up your bait and toll for these fish at a reasonable speed of 5 knots.

INSHORE– The inshore bit is hot! Around the power plant you’ll find lots of Mangrove Snapper. If you’re looking for Redfish you’ll find them on the west shore of the Banana River south of 520. There is also a school of them north of the railroad bridge. Near the Tiger Shoals in the lagoon Trout and Redfish are stacked up!  They are biting well on Mullet, Shrimp and Crab. On the beach you’ll find lots of Whiting, Blues and Pompano.

BAIT– There is some bait around but you’d be better of buying it to save time.

Cocoa / Titusville Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Offshore you’ll find Kingfish, Tuna and Dolphin. You’ll want to troll for these at a reasonable speed of around 5 knots. The best bait to use is Ballyhoo, some Ballyhoo may be around offshore, however, your safest bet is to buy them frozen.

INSHORE – The water is still pretty dirty this week due to the brown tide. The poor water clarity makes it hard for the fish to anything. So you’ll have to make sure the fish can smell the bait. Use a product like Procure on lures and artificials if you can’t get your hands on cutbait. Not far from the pier a lot of people are catching Trout, Mangrove Snapper, and Sheepshead using Shrimp that is either alive or dead. In the river people are catching Redfish and Mangrove Snapper on Squid and Mullet. The best time to fish in the river is the early morning. The flats and bridges are good during the heat of the day. Structures and bridges are prime real estate this week.

BAIT REPORT – There are baitfish all over the river. You can’t miss the Finger Mullet and Glass Minnows.

Titusville / Cocoa Fishing Report

INSHORE – In the river people are catching a lot of Reds, Trout and Black Drum in the river. Fishing in the Lagoons hasn’t been great due to the brown tide which causes poor water clarity. In 2-3 feet of water you can’t see anything. So you’ll have to make sure the fish can smell the bait. Use a product like Procure on lures and artificials if you can’t get your hands on cutbait. Not far from the pier a lot of people are catching Trout, Mangrove Snapper, and Sheepshead using Shrimp that is either alive or dead.  South of Maxburough bridge they are catching mangrove snapper.

BAIT REPORT – There are baitfish all over the river. You can’t miss the Finger Mullet and Glass Minnows.

Titusville / Cocoa Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – We’ve been getting reports of Shark and Mackerel at Pelican Flats.The best way to catch Mackerel is trolling, but the Sharks are ready and waiting for you to drop some bait. Try to avoid dropping cut bait because that will just make things worse. Try to sneak a live bait down to the bottom, and then pray when you reel your catch up!

INSHORE – The key is to look for the clean water. The Speckled Trout are following schools of Mullet in the lagoon. They are biting on plastic jerk baits primarily, but at dusk and dawn they take a liking to top water plugs. Later in the day switch to live Pinfish and Mullet. There is also a good Redfish bite on flats in the Northern Area. For the Reds use Shrimp, Mullet, or cut bait. Whiting and small Sharks are being fished on the beach. Fresh and dead frozen Shrimp bait works well too. An abundance of bait has also brought the Sharks into the beaches, so watch your toes!

OFFSHORE – Rosie over at Allan Roy Captain Fishing Tackle & Charters lets me know that the weather has been bad, with rip currents like you wouldn’t believe. Wind has been blowing hard, and no one has been out since Sunday. The weather forecast doesn’t look good for over weekend. Let’s just pray that the weatherman is wrong.

INSHORE – The main fish being targeted over at Action Bait & Tackle is Redfish, Blackdrum, Tarpon, Trout, Mangrove Snappers. All of which are biting really good right now. The tide doesn’t hold too much of an effect, it is more important to fish early morning or later in the afternoon. If you are going artificial stick with a gold spoon, but you can do well on a nice top water lure or a Skeeterwalk, but if you want to stay with the real stuff go with cut Mullet or Ladyfish, Crab and Shrimp are also good bait.

BAIT REPORT – Ton of bait around, especially mullet, which explains why the bigger fish are biting so good on cuts of it. Remember, Ladyfish are terrible for eating, but make excellent bait. If you catch one, fillet it into chunks.

Memorial Day Orlando Fishing Report
Please take some time this weekend to consider the sacrifices made by so many, so that we can enjoy the lifestyle we have. And have a happy and safe Memorial Day Weekend.

As seems to be the habit lately, I did some fishing around this week. Generally it was good. A tactical error prevented many fish from being caught one day.

I apologize for the quality of the photos. We did not have any beautiful models available. No offense, Aubrey! Monday found Anton Faith and I out in the Bang-O-Craft, on the Indian River Lagoon. Some snook had been discovered last week and I wanted another crack at them. All the fish at that spot were gone, including the snook. Sad!

We went to another spot I had been wanting to check. Bingo! No snook, but lots of nice seatrout. This is where the tactical error occurred. Anton doesn’t fish much and I brought frozen mullet for bait. I filleted them, then cut the fillets into strips. You can’t throw them very far. The fish were spooking before we could get into range. The one fish we got came on a 3″ DOA CAL Shad tail.

Tuesday morning Scott Radloff and I launched the Mitzi at Port Canaveral. There was a lot of Sargassum in the water. I was guardedly optimistic. There was almost no bait and we did not find any fish. The water off Cocoa Beach is very dirty. We pulled the boat at 10 AM and went to the Indian River Lagoon.

Remembering my tactical error from the previous day, I opted to try a 5.5″ DOA CAL jerk bait, since the fish eat it and I can throw it a long way. It was an almost brilliant choice. Between us we got over a dozen nice trout and reds. We were done a little after 2 PM.

Has anyone noticed how hot it’s been? Thunderstorms are becoming a daily affair. It will start cooling off around October. Welcome to the long, hot, Florida summer!
Wednesday found me up at the Villages, at the request of the Tri-County Fly Fishers, a very active and nice group of people. We discussed fishing opportunities in the Indian River Lagoon system for an hour or two, after which I drove home again. Thanks to all of you for having me up there.

A couple months back I blogged about the Sevylor inflatable kayak, which had been purchased to access a remote spot on the St. Johns River. For some unfathomable reason I decided to drag an Ocean Kayak Prowler back there on Thursday. I would drag the boat 100 yards and stop to catch my breath. Then I would do it again. And again. Ad infinitum. It took way too long. The entire time this song flowed through my mind:

I got a mule. Her name is Sal.
Fifteen miles on the Erie Canal.
She’s a good old worker and a good old pal.
Fifteen miles on the Erie Canal.

It was a feasibility study. I think if I were 26 instead of 62 it might be feasible. As it is I won’t be doing it again, I don’t need exercise that badly. I’m no mule! Anyway, the bass were biting, but they were all small ones. The best one I got maybe hit 13 inches, all but one hit the gurgler in the photo.

On Friday Aubrey Thompson, Ph.D., fly fisher, joined me on the Indian River Lagoon. Man, we saw some fish. They were not eating very well. Aubrey managed a half dozen bites, only one of which posed for photos. It was a solid trout right at 26 inches.
