INSHORE – Big migratory Stripers (Bass, Striped) have left. There’s some holdover fish around the rivers and inshore, they’re just small. You’ll have to travel out of state if you want to get into any big fish. There hasn’t been much on Cod (Cod, Atlantic) this week. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – There are still some recreational Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) being caught around Chatham and Stellwagen this week. They are within 7 miles out. Bait is pushing through so you can find Bluefin chasing the Mackerel. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!

INSHORE – Saltwater is slowing down this week. Stripers (Bass, Striped) have mosty moved out. They are right in front of the estuaries so try Herring River and Muddy Creek in Harwich as they should hold some leftovers. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – We are still seeing a nice recreational Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) bite. A lot of anglers are using surface Strategic Anglers. Any of the Ballyhoo or large Sandeel patterns will work well. They are swimming off the bank to the North. The morning bite seems to be best. There has been fish up to 900 lbs. Cod (Cod, Atlantic) fishing to the East of Chatham is doing well around the Sword in 190-210 ft. Clam and Cod jigs are working well to hook them. A few have been caught closer but they are smaller. Provincetown Fishing Report
INSHORE – There hasn’t been any reports of Stripers (Bass, Striped) or Bluefish this week. Herring River in Harwich should be holding fish. There is still a decent variety of sizes as it gets hold over fish. Sometimes the bigger sizes can be found into December if you can get out. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) are East of Chatham and towards Provincetown this week. The commercial season is closed but they are still open for recreational anglers casting for them. Strategic Angler Lures are working well as they look like Herring. The Tuna are feeding on the small bait. Not many people are live baiting as you cannot keep the giant fish that will eat them. The day bite is most productive. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!
BAIT REPORT – Mackerel can be caught on a jig this week. Smaller bait are also running.

INSHORE – Freshwater is on fire. The ponds are double stocked with big Rainbows and Brown Trout. Goose Hummock is geared up with lots of freshwater gear. A lot of inshore anglers will switch to freshwater as the Striper (Bass, Striped) fishing slows down. If you head west, you can still target them in the canal and down towards Rhode Island.
OFFSHORE – It’s been pretty rough offshore as of late. Fish are typically from the Golf Ball to East of Chatham and Monomoy. The Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) that we’ve had reports on are sticking to the East side. Anglers are live baiting and casting for them. INSHORE – The Freshwater fishing has been on fire into this week. Striper (Bass, Striped) fishing is only good towards the Canal. The recent wind has knocked down a lot of beach fishing.
OFFSHORE – Tuna are biting in Cape Cod bay and along Stellwagen bank. Sizes are pretty good when you can catch a break in the swell. Bluefin (Tuna, Bluefin) have been doing well for the boats that are live baiting. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!

Provincetown Fishing Report
INSHORE – Bass (Bass, Striped) fishing is good in 35-40 ft East of Chatham. They are taking vertical jigs. For the cast and retrieve, be about 6-7 ft down below the surface. Look for the birds. Any of the Eastern beaches off Chatham such as Lighthouse Beach, Nauset Beach and the Hollows are producing fish. On the Nantucket Sound side, South of Chatham in the islands we are seeing a lot of Bluefish and big Bass. Rumour has it that there are anglers surf fishing the canal and saw Tuna come through!
OFFSHORE – The past week has been tricky due to the weather however a majority of the fishing is North off Stellwagen bank. Tuna (Tuna, bluefin) are the main game for offshore anglers. They are up to 700 lbs mixed with a ton of 55-60 inch fish. Most of the smaller sizes are stretching from Stellwagen to East of Chatham. Their migration pattern is in full effect. There are tons of different baits around as well. The bite is predominantly live bait. Dead Ballyhoo is your best bet to catch. When anglers are trolling they are using Ballyhoo rigs. Anglers who are casting for Tuna are using RonZ pattern with a 4 ounce swivel head. Strategic Angler baits are doing amazing. This is your traditional stick bait. You have to plan around the weather for the best time to get out. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!
BAIT REPORT – We are mostly seeing Sandeels in to this week. Northern Ballyhoo (Half Beaks) are farther out for Tuna. They are difficult to catch due to their fast migration.

INSHORE – The Bass (Bass, Striped) fishing off of Chatham is on fire! Out of the inlet to the North on the Vertical Jig has been most productive. They are as deep as 90 ft. False Albacore (Bonito, Little Tunny) are all over Monomoy, outside of Stage Harbor and Bass River and all over the inside of the Sound. Some of the biggest schools are all over the place. Anglers are throwing Epoxy jigs or small Yuzuri swimming plugs. There are still a few Bluefish around. They are all over Monomoy and Nantucket. Cape Cod Bay is still holding them too. There are some Bass swimming in the bay as well. The Goose Hummock has plenty of Ballyhoo and lures to go with it! PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) are awesome outside of Chatham. Mad Max Splash Bars are working well. There are mostly fish up to almost 60 inches. They are the perfect recreational size. They can be caught in the morning. In the Southeast corner of Provincetown we are seeing nice fish being caught on the drift with live bait. INSHORE – The Bass (Bass, Striped) are scattered throughout the entire cape and bay. Barnstable Harbor is doing well along with the Brewster Flats at night. Anglers are jigging to find them and picking up fish towards Provincetown. Around the backside of the cape we are seeing the most Bass action. The fish are moving in this area. Bluefish are starting to mix in more and more as the summer progresses. They are mostly on the South side towards Harwich but are beginning to filter into the bay. They’re taking just about anything as long as it’s swimming. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks! Check out the Goose Hummock Sale Tent outside the shop this week!
OFFSHORE – Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) have been slow the last couple weeks. Anglers have had trouble getting the bite. They are heading to Stellwagen, Chatham and other areas to find them. The fish are simply not showing up. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!
BAIT REPORT – Tons of Mackerel are off the outer cape. Pogies (Menhaden) are hot as well. Sand Eels are running thick.

Provincetown Fishing Report
INSHORE – The best bite is oceanside and bayside on the beaches this week. The Stripers (Bass, Striped) are also swimming the flats however the afternoon bite is better as the temperature is cooler. You can work the fish right into the evening and overnight on the right tide. They head back out to the deeper water in the morning. Anglers are throwing topwater plugs and soft plastics. In the Sound the bite has slowed down. The Stripers have moved out. Work the ocean right up to Truro. Bluefish are hitting of Nauset with a good bite and are best out in the bay.
OFFSHORE – Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) are slow for numbers but a couple bigger fish have been caught trolling Stellwagon.
BAIT REPORT – Mackerel, Pogie (Menhaden) and Sand Eels are all still swimming.

Provincetown Fishing Report
INSHORE – Simeon at the Goose Hummock Shop said that a slow offshore trip for Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) was turned into a good Striper event when they move inshore and began catching quality Bass (Bass, Striped) in the 32- to 36-inch class just off the Race. Danny made a trip with the Shimano team to field test their tackle on fluke just off Nantucket and they had a blast with fish in the 20- to 22-inch class with a pool winner in the mid 20-inch class. Cape Cod Bay has been producing some decent Striper fishing but to put things in perspective the local commercial high liners did not do well in the season opener and many guys with just two and three fish of the allotted 15 fish limit. There will be a push to locate the Tuna in the coming week and the area east of Crab Ledge will be worked over pretty good.

INSHORE – Stripers (Bass, Striped) are still around on all sides this week from Nantucket Sound to the bay. This area is loaded with Bunker, Sandeels and Mackerel. We hope to see this bite continue into the weekend.
OFFSHORE – The Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) are doing well. They are spread out this week but can be found around the Chatham area. This has been the main focus for anglers heading offshore.
BAIT REPORT – Bunker (Menhaden), Sandeels and Mackerel are swimming this week on the South Side and the bay.

Provincetown Fishing Report
INSHORE – Small Stripers (Bass, Striped) continue to run the lower Cape beaches. The best action is after dark on needlefish and minnow plugs. Striper fishing has been slow around Monomoy, but it’s early still and the water is still a bit cold reported Captain John from Fish Chatham Charters. John’s been fishing around Nantucket and finding Bluefish and stripers.
OFFSHORE – Bluefin are moving into Cape Cod waters in better numbers, but by most accounts, the fish have been picky. Captain John of Fish Chatham Charters said there is tons of bait east of Chatham, and the Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) bite should be good once the weather allows fishermen to head after them. Trolling is catching a couple, but live baiting has been working better.

Provincetown Fishing Report
INSHORE – Striped Bass (Bass, Striped) is great, especially around Provincetown. Cape Cod bay is loaded with them. Pencil poppers have been best to hook them right off the surface. The larger fish are stacking towards the bottom. The sizes are great from the harbor to across the bay. Black Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black) have been picked up in the bay but most are to the South in the Nantucket Sound.
OFFSHORE – Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) fishing is great to the East off Crab ledge in Chatham. They are trolling live Ballyhoo or alternatively Squid bars.
BAIT REPORT – Anglers can jig for Mackerel in the bay. There are tons of Sand Eels around as well.

INSHORE – This week there have been a lot of Stripers (Bass, Striped) in the Bay near Barnstables and Brewster Flats. Anglers have been catching a lot of Mackerel (Mackerel, Atlantic) on Sabiki rigs. There have been some Blues (Bluefish) and Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black) in Nantucket Sound. Got-Cha Plugs have been very effective for catching Bluefish.
OFFSHORE – Bluefins (Tuna, Bluefin) have been biting to the east, just a few miles out. Anglers have been catching Mackerel and Sandeels out there to use for bait on the schools.

INSHORE – There was a lot of action to the West on numerous species from Scup, Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black), Stripers (Bass, Striped) and Blues (Bluefish) as well as Tautog off Falmouth as a crew from the Goose Hummock Shop brought a boat back to Orleans. Captain Austin said the local fishing was very good in Nantucket Sound for decent-sized Stripers and in Cape Cod Bay from Barnstable Harbor to Wellfleet where shop regulars are recording stripers up to 40 inches. The biggest Bass he has heard of so far was a 40-pound fish taken in the Canal.

INSHORE – In the sound the Bluefish are showing up this week. Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black) have also been running thick, just in time for opening day. Scup have been pulled up in great sizes as well. A fair amount of Bass (Bass, Striped) are in Cape Cod Bay that are turning on now. A few Flounder (Flounder, Winter) are mixed in but they aren’t plentiful. Mackerel (Mackerel, Atlantic) are small but swimming the bay.
OFFSHORE – South of the Vineyard the Bluefins (Tuna, Bluefin) are small but running. They aren’t moving too much so they should be easy to find around there. No one has headed out to the Canyons as of yet but we are hoping to see some charters head out next week.

INSHORE – The word from the Goose Hummock Shop was of some crazy Striper (Bass, Striped) fishing with huge numbers of small bass being caught and released. The hot lure according to Captain Austin is the Spro bucktail with R2 heads and 4-inch herring-colored tails. These have accounted for several small keepers in the 29-inch class which are being returned. Squid have moved up into this area providing an opportunity to collect some bait or great eating.

INSHORE – Reports are coming in that there are still mackerel being caught in the East End of the Canal. He also heard of a big school of Mackerel, Atlantic off Chatham. The angler who tipped Stan off had been fishing for giant Tuna, Yellowfin. While no bluefin found his baits, they angler did catch an estimated 400-pound Shark. Stan said the angler didn’t mention which species of shark. Given the time of year, seems likely, although a 400-pound Porbeagle would be a very big one.The Helen H had a wreck-fishing trip on Saturday. Stan said it was a productive trip, although many anglers caught, and then had to release, large Sea Bass, Black because they are out of season. The Focus is mostly on freshwater at this point of the year. Anglers who put their time in can still find a decent saltwater bite.
BAIT REPORT – Sand Eels are running the bottom of the offshore and the Mackerel are already chasing them.

INSHORE – Bluefish and Bass (Bass, Striped) have moved out at this point along with the Sharks. The season is pretty well over as there is not much to fish for in the inshore. Some anglers are switching to Freshwater and some are heading to the offshore where there is still a decent bite so far this week. For anglers heading out this weekend they can always check out our Tips feature which provides additional information and suggestions to help improve the catch.
OFFSHORE – There are still some Tuna, Bluefin to be caught in the offshore. They are up on Stellwagen Bank and out to the East past Chatham. They continue to bite well as the water is still arm. The Tuna are coming up in good sizes although the numbers have dropped. They are chasing Mackerel which are swimming the offshore. This is later than normal as they are spread out towards Chatham up to Rice point as well. They have been chasing the Mackerel that are chasing the Sand Eel run.

INSHORE – There have been no reports so far from the inshore this week. Most anglers are heading either offshore or to the freshwater kettle ponds for Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Rainbow and Brown Trout. They are hot this week and the target for most anglers.
OFFSHORE – There are still Tuna, Bluefin swimming in the offshore this week. Anglers are making their way out to catch some monsters anywhere from 500 to almost 700 lbs! Boaters have continued to live line Mackerel to hook the big ones. They are becoming increasingly more difficult to find but they are still out there around the Stellwagen area. Bigger sizes will keep showing up as the weather becomes cooler.
BAIT REPORT – Tons of birds hovering above the bait this week.

INSHORE – Most of the inshore is pretty much shut down for the year. There are still some Mackerel, Atlantic swimming however this is the only fish reported this week. For anglers that decide to try their luck from the inshore they can always take a look at our Tips feature which provides additional information and suggestions to help improve the catch.
OFFSHORE – The overall number of Tuna being caught this week is down but the Giant Bluefin (Tuna, Bluefin) sizes have been making up for a lack of numbers. It’s absolutely quality over quantity right now. Reports have come in of up to 660 lbs! Anglers have been live lining Mackerel around the bottom of the Stellwagen area for the biggest sizes. The bite is expected to continue over the next few weeks as the water will remain cold and the bigger sizes will move down.
BAIT REPORT – There are still plenty of Mackerel swimming for anglers to use as offshore bait this week. Keep your eyes out for the The Goose Hummock’s huge Black Friday Sales and Mark your calendars February 5 & 6 for The Goose Hummock’s Blue Water Bash! See website for details.

INSHORE – There are still a few spots to find Bass, Striped this week before they disappear. Outside the estuaries and into the creeks are holding a few good sizes however most of the bigger Bass are holding up in the canal and are running fairly steady. The Blues (Bluefish) are gone at this point. There are still some croakers swimming as well however are becoming very sporadic. Blackfish (Tautog) is doing well on structures in the nearshore. There have also been some Flounder, Winter but not very many. They have been hiding along the bottom so anglers have to work to get some decent sizes.
OFFSHORE – Tuna, Bluefin are still swimming about 12 miles out off Chatham. They continue to come in fairly thick and in good sizes. Big Mackerel have been reported from the offshore as well and are chasing the thick Sand Eel run that is making its way by. There is no shortage of fish in the offshore this week and when weather condition have been favorable the fishing has been great.
BAIT REPORT – Sand Eels continue to run thick in the offshore this week and are working well as bait. Keep your eyes out for the The Goose Hummock’s huge Black Friday Sales and Mark your calendars February 5 & 6 for The Goose Hummock’s Blue Water Bash! See website for details.

INSHORE – Things have been slowing down inshore this week. There are still a few reports of Stripers (Bass, Striped) swimming the canals, but for the most part they have moved on. Some anglers are hooking them in Rhode Island and South a bit more however they are spotty here.
OFFSHORE – The Tuna, Bluefin bite has been solid lately in the deep water. They aren’t too far out at 10-14 miles off the shore. They’ve even been taking Sand Eels. They are not coming up in big numbers but are still in good sizes. Mackerel are swimming as well and anglers continue to live line them for Tuna as well. Cod fishing is now closed so boaters can no longer keep them.
BAIT REPORT – Schools of Sand Eels have been passing through this area along with some Mackerel in the offshore. Mark your calendars February 5 & 6 for The Goose Hummock’s Blue Water Bash! See website for details.

INSHORE – The Bass, Striped have begun their migration South however there are still some to be found inshore. The canals have been turning up some decent sizes and they are still chasing Menhaden. Bluefish are also chasing Menhaden although they are beginning to slow down as well.
OFFSHORE – Straight out to the East, anglers are seeing a good number of Bluefin (Tuna, Bluefin). They are out anywhere from 10-14 miles out, some even closer. Anglers are drifting with live Mackerel, and trolling Squid bars or pulling shorts. The bigger sizes are in the deeper water. For boaters determined to catch a Yellowfin (Tuna, Yellowfin) there are still some in the gulf stream and the canyons, but it is a pretty far journey out.
BAIT REPORT – In the offshore waters there are plenty of Mackerel to be caught in the 100-200 ft range. Follow the birds to find the bait. Sabiki rigs or diamond jigs are working well. Mark your calendars February 5 & 6 for The Goose Hummock’s Blue Water Bash! See website for details.

INSHORE – The Striper (Bass, Striped) migration is still on as the fish move South although they continue to chase the peanut sized Menhaden. Stripers are hitting them 10 ft. off the South side beaches. Bluefish are also still swimming and chasing Menhaden. Although there has been lots of action the past few weeks it is starting to slow down. Any anglers making their way out at night have been using darker colors for artificials. Most anglers are using Mackerel or Menhaden patterns and colors to match the live bait run. Trout are still hot in the kettle ponds.
OFFSHORE – The Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) bite has been pretty good in the deeper water as of late. Anglers can go anywhere from 14-30 miles and expect to hit a school and reel in a decent size. Most of the larger Tuna are in the deeper water however fishermen trolling the surface have caught some smaller sizes on Squid Bars. Free lining Mackerel in deeper water has been the most successful method. Ballyhoo and Sand Eels are also working well.
BAIT REPORT – Menhaden and Mackerel are all running thick and close right now. They are all working well for both inshore and offshore fish.
