Pawleys Island/Murrells Inlet Fishing Report
INSHORE – Out on the beach we are seeing some Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) with Black Drum (Drum, Black) and Dogfish (Dogfish, Spiny) mixed in. In the creek the Flounder bite is heating up. The occasional Spottail (Drum, Red) are around however they are difficult to catch. Black Drum are in the creek as well. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have slowed down since they are scattered in odd depths. You’ll have to put some time in and work with them until you find some success. Key depths are 3-4 feet off the bottom. Early morning, around daybreak has been successful for topwater anglers. During the day they swim deeper. Using a Yo Zuri Crystal Shrimp or a Rapala X-Rap will work well to hook them suspending above the bottom. Pawleys Island/Murrells Inlet Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – As we are in between season the water temperature is warming up. The fish are scattered and more difficult to find. Once the bait fires up the bite will be more consistent, however as of now it’s hit or miss. There are Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black) and Beeliners (Snapper, Vermillion) swimming so bottom fishing in the nearshore area has been the most productive overall. Mid April is usually a really good time to fish. A few nice Wahoo are swimming towards the stream, about 20-30 miles out.
BAIT REPORT – Bait is scarce. We expect it to thicken up within the next few weeks.

INSHORE – There are Flounder (Flounder, Southern) starting to move into the creeks. They are small but on the move. The occasional Redfish (Drum, Red) and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have been caught as well. Zman artificials are working best for the Trout along with DOA or Vudu Shrimp. Mud Minnows are always a good bet if all else fails. A few hours before low tide in the creek is prime time to get on the water! PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for additional angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – With the tough winds anglers have had a tough time getting offshore. The Wahoo fishing has been great when conditions allow for offshore trips.

INSHORE – Limits of slot Redfish (Drum, Red) are coming out of the inlet. On the south end bigger Bull Reds are swimming the jetty with some Black Drum (Drum, Black). Generally when there is a rising tide fish the inside and a falling tide fish the outside. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have slowed down a bit but they are still being caught. Live Finger Mullet or Mud Minnows and Shrimp for cutbait has worked well. More and more undersized Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are turning up however there are a few keepers in the mix. A few Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) and Bluefish are on the beach. They are sporadic for the most part however good sized Bluefish are swimming to the North in the creek. They are likely chasing the Finger Mullet in the shallows. Dogfish (Dogfish, Spiny) are also on the beach. Pawleys Island/Murrells Inlet Fishing Report
INSHORE – Anglers are able to fish a variety of species this week. Decent numbers of Black Drum (Drum, Black) are turning up off the jetties and the mouth of Oyster Cove. They love structure so anywhere you can find rock piles or points are key. Tons of small Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are being caught. Most are short but putting some time in will produce a few keepers in the mix. Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are back in the creek and at the end of the South Jetty. Redfish (Drum, Red) are in the shallows around the South end towards Oaks Creek. Generally they prefer warmer water so as the sun warms things up the shallow water and sunny areas are your best bet. Sheepshead are swimming the closer offshore reefs such as 10 Mile and Pawley’s Island. If you can get your hands on some Fiddler Crabs or Shrimp they typically go crazy for these. Small Whiting (Kingfish, Southern) are being caught off the beach with Dogfish. Shrimp is your best bet to hook them. Dogfish (Dogfish, Spiny) aren’t picky, they’ll take just about anything live including Mullet or Squid. Anglers can also catch Trout with Plugs instead of using bait. The incoming tide seems to be the best time to fish, but this can also depend on where you are. INSHORE – The Bull Reds (Drum, Red) are still around. They had a hot bite but will begin dissipating. Kings (Mackerel, King) are on the beaches and biting well. With the cooler weather the Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) bite will turn on as the water cools as well. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are slowing down as they move out. Drum (Drum, Black) is scattered from day to day. They will be moving with the slot Reds into the creeks and canals. Most of the Reds around the surf and inlets are 38 inches and up. We should start seeing more slot Reds as the Bulls move. Sharks are always around. The Spot run has continued into this week. Artificial Bloodworms are working well to hook them. INSHORE – In the inlet the Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are running however most are undersized. The warm summer has put the water behind as far as the size of fish it is holding. The numbers aren’t bad however the sizes are just on the smaller end. There are some nice Redfish (Drum, Red) up to 15.5 inches. The ratios of keeper are much better. Bull Reds are on the jetties and ledges which run from Surfside Pier to Springmaid Pier as well as off the surf at the campgrounds at night. Weakfish are on the ledges as well. Drum (Drum, Black) are plentiful but small as well. More numbers of keepers are showing up. Sheepshead are turning up with all the rain at the Georgetown jetty and the piers. A ton of Bluefish and Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) are running the beach. There is roughly 1 Spanish for every Bluefish. There are some good sizes off the piers as well. A lot of small Reds (Drum, Red) have been pushed into the backwater creeks by the heat. Big Reds should be moving in soon. Small Pinfish, Mud Minnows and Mullet are working for both. Berkley gulp is a great alternative. Just bounce bait off the bottom. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are good with Shrimp on a popping cork by the jetties. Some anglers are hitting their limits. INSHORE – There is a slow Flounder (Flounder, Southern) bite this week however Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are moving as we look towards the next full moon. This is when the Trout begin to spawn so the bite will turn on as they are already moving into the creeks. Redfish (Drum, Red) have been picking up on the Mullet this week. Live Mullet at the Jetties and inside the inlets will work very well. Live Porgy have also worked well and the Reds prefer the bigger sizes to the smaller ones. Sheepshead are on fire if you get down with some fiddler crabs. You can chum them up against the rocks for fish over 5 lbs. Flounder are still out there with Mud Minnows and Carolina rigs but the bite has been slow as of late. Inside 3 miles on the Paradise and artificial reefs we are still finding King Mackerel (Mackerel, King) that are huge sizes. Cobia are mixed in as well, just bring the bait fish! Sharks (Shark, Blacktip & Shark, Bonnethead) have also been caught this week. We hope to see this bite continue into the weekend.

INSHORE – The action is hot this week. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are swimming the creek this week. They are mixed in with some slot Reds (Drum, Red) as well. Drum (Drum, Black) are just about everywhere. They are holding up in the deeper holes where most of them are keepers. A couple good fish have been caught right off Veteran Pier. You can also find them out around 3 miles. It seems to vary day to day whether they are in close or at the marker. Follow the birds to find them. Inside, you can troll the muddy area between the end of the South pier and to the 1 mile marker to find them. Cobia are also running the beach on bait balls. There are a few Kings (Mackerel, King) that have come in close but they are swimming at 3 miles, mixed in with some Cobia.
OFFSHORE – We are seeing some great sizes of Mahi (Dolphin) move in this week. They have been caught around the Georgetown hole. There are also plenty of keeper Kings (Mackerel, King) hanging around. They are fairly spread out and can actually be caught as close as 3 miles out.

Pawleys Island/Murrells Inlet Fishing Report
INSHORE – There are still a solid amount of fish swimming the inshore this week. Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) have gotten bigger and are turning up in some pretty good sizes. They continue to love anything moving, live or artificial. Surprisingly there have been Drum (Drum, Black), Reds (Drum, Red) and Flounder (Flounder Southern & Flounder, Summer (Fluke)) being caught from the surf. Drum and Flounder are both hitting artificial Bloodworms with a small piece of Shrimp hooked on it. They are absolutely loving this setup and anglers can’t seem to go wrong using it. The beach report and creek report are both doing well for Reds and Trout too.
BAIT REPORT – There are a little bit of Mullet still swimming this week however anglers have to really hunt for it as it is becoming spotty.

Pawleys Island/Murrells Inlet Fishing Report
INSHORE – There have been Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) hitting very well this week in great sizes and numbers. The islands and inlets have continued to be a hotspot for these fish and they are loving anything moving, both live and artificial. The live bait run has begun to cool down so most anglers are switching to artificials. Flounder (Flounder, Southern & Flounder, Summer (Fluke)) have turned up again this week on artificials as well. Vudu Shrimp has been working very well in particular. Reds (Drum, Red) have had a consistent bite from last week. In general, the fishing in this area has been pretty good over the last week and the bite is expected to continue going forward.
BAIT REPORT – There are still some Mullet than can be found swimming however they have mostly begun to move out at this point.

Pawleys Island/Murrells Inlet Fishing Report
INSHORE – Seatrout, Spotted are heating up just about everywhere including Pawleys Island, Murrells Inlet and the North Inlet. They are loving both live bait or artificial. Shrimp are running and working well in addition to Vudu Shrimp as the matching artificial alternative. The Reds (Drum, Red) are also on fire in the same spots and are preferring the live baits.
OFFSHORE – Wahoo have had a solid bite offshore around the Georgetown hole up to the scarp. Anglers have been pulling Ballyhoo and the Wahoo are loving them. Tuna, Blackfin have also had great results using the same. Around 50 miles out the King (Mackerel, King) bite continues as they chase the thick Menhaden run.
BAIT REPORT – Both Shrimp and Mullet are both running thick right now and working well for inshore fish.

Pawleys Island/Murrells Inlet Fishing Report
INSHORE – The channels have been host to a few good Stripers (Bass, Striped) as well as a solid Speck (Seatrout, Spotted) bite in the last few days. Vudu Shrimp, Trout Tricks, DOA shrimp all seem to be doing the trick on Trout. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) have also been turning up as well.
OFFSHORE – A short distance offshore at about 50 miles there is a solid King (Mackerel, King) bite as they chase the Menhaden swimming thick offshore. There have also been reports of Wahoo hitting as well in the same spots. Recently some Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) were reeled in as well. There have not been any reports since however most anglers expect that they are still out there (weather permitting). When fishermen decide to head to the deeper water they can always consult our Tips feature which provides additional suggestions and information that could help improve the catch. Alternatively Georgetown Landing Marina can provide an up to the minute fishing report if anglers have managed to make their way out.
BAIT REPORT – There aren’t too many baits running on the inshore at this time however there are plenty of Menhaden offshore for anglers able to get out under the birds.

Pawleys Island/Murrells Inlet Fishing Report
INSHORE – The rain has really been putting a damper on the bite. Seatrout, Spotted seem to still be pretty active if you can find clean water. There are plenty of Redfish (Drum, Red) around still and a few Flounder, Southern are being caught as well. Vudu Shrimp, Trout Tricks, DOA shrimp all seem to be doing the trick on Trout. Gulp and live bait lead the way on Redfish.
OFFSHORE – Bottom fishing has been pretty good in this area. Triggerfish (Triggerfish, Gray), Grouper, Gags and Snapper, Vermillion seem to be biting hitting the best. We do not have specifics on baits or lures at this time however for information on what to throw you can always consult our Tips feature which provides more information and suggestions for your favorite fish.
BAIT REPORT – Finger Mullet are about everywhere when the tide drops out of the grass. Shrimp can be caught in deep holes and down south on the cape or in Bulls Bay.
