Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Park Fishing Report
INSHORE – Everyone is fishing Oyster Creek and around the Power Plant for resident Stripers (Bass, Striped). There are also some rumours of a couple of Weakfish. Winter Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are hanging around as well, but they are a bit more scattered. Reports from the oceanside haven’t quite fired up yet. Once the water warms up the Bluefish will arrive and anglers will be able to kick off the season with some strong fighters. By July they will be tired of seeing them! PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report to reveal more angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – A handful of anglers are heading out Cod (Cod, Atlantic) fishing. Closer in the catch and release Blackfish (Tautog) bite were biting about 10 miles offshore. Since the season opened the conditions have been rough but we expect they will turn on once things settle down.

INSHORE – Fishing is beginning to pick up in the bay for small Bass and a few keepers. They are mainly taking artificials at night and bloodworms during the day. Winter Flounder (Flounder, Winter) are swimming the bay in different ranges depending on the weather and tide. It’s beginning to pick up out front as we see a few Bass (Bass, Striped) swimming the beach. They are biting all day long on a standard surf rig. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report to reveal more angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – A few boats are heading out for Cod (Cod, Atlantic) as it begins to slow down. We are eager for the Blackfish (Tautog) to open on April 1.

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Park Fishing Report
INSHORE – During the Winter season the migratory fish have left the area and the variety of fish available in State waters are slim. Some anglers are still targeting Stripers (Bass, Striped), Tautog, Cod, Atlantic and other fish that are around over the winter. Most Striper trips will start back up around April or sooner. There are still a few of the big boats running Tautog trips when the weather allows. Any of our listed tackle shops would be glad to steer you in the direction of a boat that’s still sailing. As we find varying weather conditions from day to day we encourage all anglers to stay safe and warm when fishing. This is a great opportunity to check out some of the current Pro Angler App features along with new additions coming soon! We look forward to bringing you more great Pro Reports when the bite fires back up!

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Park Fishing Report
INSHORE – Anglers are still picking away at Bass (Bass, Striped). They are mainly shorts but there are still some keepers around. Fish are anywhere from Monmouth Beach in Sea Bright to Island Beach State Park. Some are still taking topwaters. Search for birds and bait to find them. Trolling is still productive using Umbrella rigs with Shad on them. They are anywhere from 100 yards off the beach to the state line. It depends on the day. We expect to see both bite and the baits continue to be productive into the holiday week. We look forward to more reports in the New Year! PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report to reveal more angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – Wrecks from 50-80 miles offshore are producing really good Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black). The bite improves as the water gets colder. The best fishing is right before New Years as limits are the norm. Clams are working well for bait. Big Porgy are even mixed in. Blackfish (Tautog) are great from 40 ft to 70ft. Anglers are doing a number on the fish. Limits are easy and the fish are big. Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) have been caught between 50-100 lbs. You can cast plugs at them. We expect to see both bite and the baits continue to be productive into the holiday week. We look forward to more reports in the New Year!
BAIT REPORT – Herring and Sandeels are pushing through. Bay Anchovy can also be found.

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Park Fishing Report
INSHORE – There are some short Stripers (Bass, Striped) coming off the beach. The boats are getting some decent fish here and there. Anglers are mostly trolling to catch them. There are few fish swimming under the bait. They are taking artificials for the most part. Swim Shads in white are a favorite, SP Minnows are also productive. Jetty Ghosts imitating Sand Eels will work well. The fish are on the move so you may have to burn some gas to find them. The Power plant is doing really well, especially with the warm water discharge. Some anglers are hitting Blackfish (Tautog) in the Point Canal. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report to reveal more angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – Anglers are still heading out to target Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black). If you can get there, the bite has been really steady. The recent wind has kept everyone off the rough water though.
BAIT REPORT – Bunker (Menhaden) can be snagged and dropped. It should be easy to see the schools out there. There are some Sand Eels out there as well.

INSHORE – It’s quieted down a bit this week. Anglers were hitting Stripers (Bass, Striped) down towards Mantoloking and Bayhead to Bayside and LBI. SP Minnows, Tactical Anglers and Shad heads are your best bet to hook them. In Manasquan inlet we are seeing Blackfish off the jetties. There are keepers here and there. You have to weed through the smaller sizes. Sunrise and sundown are your best time to fish. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report to reveal more angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – Nearshore Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black) and Porgy (Scup) are biting well. Bluefish are biting at night. The best fishing for sizeable keepers is about 40 miles out while using Clams
BAIT REPORT – Bunker (Menhaden) are inshore and continue to make their way South.

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Park Fishing Report
INSHORE – Stripers (Bass, Striped) have improved into this week as things are really turning on. From the beach we are seeing a good bite. The hard Northwest blow has pushed them in. Anglers will be staying close to shore until the bigger Bunker moves in. Island Beach State Park by the Inlet is a great place to start looking for them. There is still plenty of time left. There hasn’t been much word on Tautog however now that it is open we are excited to hear reports. Jersey Hooker Outfitters has all the Green Crabs you’ll need for Tautog season! PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report to reveal more angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black) have slowed down a bit into this week. They were swimming the wrecks and anglers were getting easy limits. Bigger fish are definitely in the nearshore.

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Park Fishing Report
INSHORE – A few fish (Bass, Striped) have been caught off Seaside this week. There’s been Stripers found out at 6 miles while fishing for other species, we just need them move in. The outgoing tide using Eels has been best for the fish that are within legal range. This is generally in the afternoon. Bluefish are thick and anglers are having trouble getting past them. They are within reach of the beach for the shore anglers. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below the report to reveal more angling tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black) are biting about 24 miles offshore on the wrecks. The farther out you go, the better the fish. North Reef and Garden State Reef are also productive. A lot of anglers have wrapped up their Tuna (Tuna, Yellowfin). If you do want to get out for them, you’ll have to go far to find them. There may be a few more opportunities to hook them in the Canyon once the weather settles down. The run is about 75 miles out. Big Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) will be out in the Hudson once December hits.

INSHORE – Plenty of Bluefish filled Manasquan River from Route 70 Bridge to Point Pleasant Canal to Manasquan Inlet, and also swam the ocean outside the inlet a little, said Eric from The Reel Seat. The blues weighed 10 to 15 pounds, and most anglers fished for them this weekend, because of the weather. Popper lures, bucktails, diamond jigs and practically anything cast could hook them. A smattering of reports talked about out-of-season fluke hooked by mistake and released on the river, and Fluke [Flounder, Summer (Fluke)] season will be opened beginning May 21. Not much was heard about Striped Bass (Bass, Striped), except about a few caught in the canal at night that were mostly throwbacks, and a few beached from the surf that were mostly throwbacks. On the ocean, Cod (Cod, Atlantic) fishing was fair, and ling fishing was similar or relatively slow. Accurate Reels will hold an open-house at 6 p.m. Thursday at the store, discussing new products and letting anglers get hands on them, and will provide pizza and refreshments. On the next day, Friday, The Reel Seat and the party boat Gambler from Point Pleasant Beach will host a fishing trip on the boat so anglers can test Accurate’s reels and get some Accurate goodies.

INSHORE – Bluefish are in the inlet this week. They are really thick. They are hitting topwater and metals. Everyone is going nuts for them as they are so hot. Bunker has been the best live bait to hook them. Short Bass (Bass, Striped) are showing up in the canal on soft plastics on plugs. They are also around the bridges this week. There are still Winter Flounder (Flounder, Winter) but they have pretty much moved out. Blackfish (Tautog) is still good in the canal until it closes on the weekend. INSHORE – From the shore we are seeing some Flounder (Flounder, Winter) at the Mantoloking bridge using Bloodworms and Sandworms. Point Pleasant Canal is beginning to produce Tog (Tautog) on Bloodworms, Sandworms, and fresh Clams. There are also some Winter Flounder Here. Riviera Beach Park has Flounder right off the dock on the same bait. Route 35 beach is basically holding the same fish along with some schoolie Striped Bass (Bass, Striped). They are taking artificials and sand worms. The Manasquan inlet is holding some Blackfish (Tog) taking Green Crabs, Bloodworms and fresh Clams. We are also seeing Flounder in this area too and They are everywhere. The beach is quiet, there are rumors of some straggler Bluefish but this is not confirmed. Boats continue to search for Tog since the season is almost over. Soft bait such as steamed Shrimp or fresh Clams are working well. Green Crabs will also be productive. Straggler Bass have also been caught on Mojo rigs. Anglers trolling the rocks may also find a few good sized Bluefish as well. Stripers (Bass, Striped) are hitting well in the bay this week. The sizes are decent but nothing overly large as of yet.

INSHORE – Stripers (Bass, Striped) are being caught on Bloodworms this week. A lot of them are schoolie sized at this point. There are a few keepers if you do put some time in. Outgoing tide is preferred this week. This moves the bass down the river towards the bay. The night bite has produced the best results so far. Bloodworms are the key to hooking them this week however we expect they will start to love the Clams very soon as the water heats up. We are also seeing Perch (Sand Perch) come out of the rivers this week. Flounder (Flounder, Winter) has been hit and miss. Rubber Shads have been the key to hitting them. In a few weeks we will see the Bluefish heat up from the surf.

Stripers are turning up on Sandworms, Bloodworms and Clams so far also. They have been reported up to 24 inches so far. The keepers are preferring live bait such as clams or worms.

INSHORE – Bass, Striped were hooked and released at Oyster Creek, said Jeff from Murphy’s Hook House. That’s the warm-water discharge from Forked River power plant, and anglers weren’t supposed to target the fish, because Striper season was closed in rivers and bays or backwaters like that. The season will be opened beginning Tuesday. The fish grabbed Bloodworms, and none was reported to smack a lure. The Stripers might be landed on lures like rubber baits. Bloodworms, Sandworms and salted, frozen Clams are stocked. Flounder (Flounder, Summer (Fluke)) season will also be opened beginning Tuesday, and Flounder probably swam the Toms River. Jeff tried for Surfperch, Sand on the river, and none bit, but small Stripers did. He fished small pieces of bloodworms on a rig.

INSHORE – Seas were rough on the cod and ling grounds Saturday on the party boat Jamaica II, Capt. Joe wrote in an email that day. A few cod and ling were bagged on the trip, but the angling wasn’t good, because of the seas. When seas ease up, the trips should find some good cod fishing at wrecks in 150-foot depths to 200 feet. Clams have been clocking cod and pollock best on the trips, and jigging for them hasn’t been productive. The trips are fishing 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Sunday and Wednesday and 3 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday. Blackfishing was decent south of Manasquan Inlet, said John from The Reel Seat. Sixty- or 80-foot depths probably gave them up, he guessed. Farther from shore, cod and ling were picked. Nothing was heard about herring hooked from Manasquan Inlet that were reported caught earlier this winter. The Reel Seat is open Thursdays through Sundays. Catch free seminars at the shop with Capt. Bob Bogan from the Gambler on party boat tuna fishing at 10 a.m. this coming Saturday, Capt. Bob Cope on trolling Mojos for striped bass at 10 a.m. March 5 and Capt. INSHORE – Jan 5th – The first taste of winter and it really cut down the beach population a ton! Without fishermen, there is little to report. Unfortunately, Without reports, there are few fishermen! Self perpetuating fail in my humble opinion! Yup it’s chilly, dress for it and go for it before this body of fish moves on! The weather idiots have this – Partly cloudy skies. High around 30F. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph. It’s time to register or re-register with the NJ Saltwater Registry! Its quick, simple, free and it’s the law! Here is the link to make it even easier! http://www.nj.gov/dep/saltwaterregistry/index.html Jan 4th – But only for two days, it will warm back up on Wednesday! Who would have ever thought we would be weighing in a 26 pound Bass (Bass, Striped) on January 3rd caught on a popper? Not to mention Bluefish? In January??? At this point, if it has a hook, get it into the water! These fish seem to like anything! This can’t last much longer so put something else off till another day and hit the beaches now! People will be talking about this for years and you will want to have pictures! The weather idiots have this – Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 33F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph. Jan 3rd – Three more Bass stopped at our scale yesterday on their way home for dinner! There are tons of Herring in the neighborhood with some quality Bass mixed in with them! SPs, Shads, Swimmers and salted Clams are all getting the job done! This is usually the time of year that we are reminding everyone to bring in their reels for service or repairs but everyone is still using them! Whats next? A Valentine’s Day Blitz??? Grumpy Himself

Herring is working extremely well as the fish seem to be fixed on them. There are also sporadic Bass along the beaches. Barnegat Inlet has seen the last of the Bass run on the jetties and has slowed down at this point. In the river anglers are reporting Flounder (Flounder, Winter) however nothing huge has turned up yet from the rivers or the upper bay area. The bite should pick up in the next few weeks.
OFFSHORE – The Sea Bass, Black bite is doing well this week for offshore anglers. Many people have been dropping bait chunks for them. Blackfishing (Tautog) seems to be the main focus in this area however. The reefs are doing extremely well, especially around the Sandy Hook area. They are hitting Green Crabs and White leggers. The surrounding rock piles have also been producing great fish. The Point Pleasant canal bite has slowed down this week however the fish coming up are better quality. Green Crabs and Clams are the key bait here this week.
BAIT REPORT – Herring are running in the inshore and working well for the Bluefish and Bass. There are still lots of open dates to book your holiday fishing Trip before the end of the year. Call the Jersey Hooker Outfitters before they run out!!

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Park Fishing Report
INSHORE – The action has slowed somewhat but there seems to plenty of Bass (Bass, Striped) and Blues (Bluefish) cruising the beaches and I suspect there are still more heading this way. We had multiple reports from most of the local beaches at various times of the day yesterday, all with the common theme of small fast moving schools, some heading north, others heading south? To do well, you did have to be in the right place at the right time and ready to chase the schools. SPs, SuperStrikes and Swimmers led the list of things that were working yesterday! The weather idiots have this – Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 48F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph. The 3Cs Luncheonette is collecting non-perishable, unexpired food (monetary donations also) from now until Christmas! Each donation will enter you into a raffle to win 1 of 4 $25 gift cards! They are also collecting hygiene products for our FEMALE SOLDIERS overseas! 3Cs is open 7 days a week from 7am to 2pm! Grumpy himself

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Park Fishing Report
INSHORE – There has been a sporadic Blackfish (Tautog) bite just about everywhere in the area this week. It seems that anglers are either catching their limit or very, very few and no in between. Most of them have been fairly good sizes. Anglers have done a lot of jigging to hook them. Green Crabs and White Crabs are still the bait of choice. Blackfish have also been hanging out along the nearshore reefs. There has also been a good Striper (Bass, Striped) bite this week for boats trolling and jigging. Trolling Mojo rigs in chartreuse or white have caught the bigger fish. Bunker spoons are also working very well. The bite should continue into January as long as the weather patterns continue.
BAIT REPORT – So far this week there have been no major reports of bait running. Check out Jersey Hooker Outfitters’ 25 Days of Christmas Sale beginning today, December 1st and running throughout the Holidays. Stock up on some great savings for your favorite angler!

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Park Fishing Report
INSHORE – There has been some action offshore on the bottom. Blackfish (Tautog) and Sea Bass, Black have been biting anywhere from 70-120 ft of water and doing pretty well. The farther anglers go out, the bigger they catch. Green Crab, Squid and Clams are doing well for the Blackfish and Clams are doing well for the Bass. There have not been reports of Tuna in the past few weeks so our sources suspect they have moved out.
OFFSHORE – The bite has been consistent in this area. Basically the only active fish right now are the Stripers (Bass, Striped). They are hitting near the side banks and double creeks. The bite has not been anything crazy but it has been steady. Anglers are using Eels at night and poppers during the day. In the surf they are using the same method however leaning more towards the poppers. Salted or Live Clams are a great alternative along with SP MInnows. Snagging and Dropping Bunker (Menhaden) is also working well for those willing to search for live bait. Some fishermen are also waiting for whales to pass and then throwing Bunker behind them as the Stripers are following.
BAIT REPORT – Bunker (Menhaden) are swimming this week and working well for inshore bait.

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Park Fishing Report
INSHORE – Blackfish (Tautog) opened this week and anglers are ecstatic at how well they are doing. Stripers (Bass, Striped) are doing well here. They are live-lining, jigging and sometimes even using topwater lures to hook them. The Striper bite has been good tight to the beach all the way out to the 3 mile mark. Anglers have been looking for either birds or Bunker (Menhaden) to find them. The surf fishermen are catching lots of Bass day and night and on any tide. The backwater is slow right now and everyone is in the surf or nearshore in boats.
OFFSHORE – The Sea Bass, Black have finally moved offshore to the 25-50 mile mark. Anglers are finding them on the bottom using Clams on high low rigs. Jumbo Porgy, Jolthead are also hitting the same setup. There are an abundance of Longfin (Tuna, Albacore) along with Bigeyes (Tuna, Bigeye) that are doing very well when boaters can make it through the wind. Anglers are getting the most action from chunking for longfins. Getting out has been pretty difficult however guys are doing well when they can.
BAIT REPORT – Bunker (Menhaden) are swimming thick right now and anglers should have no trouble stocking up. There’s both juvenile and adult Bunker. Green Crabs are available at Jersey Hooker Outfitters, so head in and stock up for the Blackfish!

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Park Fishing Report
INSHORE – Short Striped Bass (Bass, Striped) are swimming along the beaches. Anglers are using diamond jigs or switching to clams when fishing the surf. Sand eels are also working well for Bass right now. There are some Tautog beginning to show up however keep in mind they are only catch and release at this time before they open.
OFFSHORE – The Tuna (Tuna, Longfin & Tuna, Bigeye) bit has been strong. They are hiding throughout the canyons and anglers are primarily chunking with Sardines and Butterfish. There have also been reports of some Seabass, Black around the 20-40 mile range. Weather Permitting, bottom fishing has been doing fairly well once anglers can actually make it on the water.
BAIT REPORT – Sand Eels are appearing with Bunker around the backwaters and beaches.

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – There isn’t much happening offshore right now. In the Canyons there are some spotty Longfin (Tuna, Albacore) still out there but nothing else has been reported at this time. For more suggestions you can always check out our Tips feature which provides more information that can improve your catch.
INSHORE – Nighttime fishing inshore has been doing very well. From approx. 11pm to 12am there are a good amount of Bass that are biting Eels. In the bay there are also Spot that can be found. Trolling North with Bunker Spoons or Umbrellas there are plenty of fish to be caught in 60 ft water and around the piers and in front of the beaches too. Bottom fishing has been good as well. Bass (Sea Bass, Black) have been biting Green Crabs and around the tires is a hotspot for them.
BAIT REPORT – There are a lot of full sized Bunker (Menhaden) swimming right now which are working well for the inshore fish.

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – Fishing has been dynamite with 80 lb. Yellowfin Tuna, Longfin Tuna and BigEye Tuna hitting jigs. Large Wahoo and Dolphin have been reported as well. Striped Bass have made their way into the ocean and are biting Bunker Spoons and Jigs in addition to Snagging and Dropping. Anglers are excited for bottom fishing as Black Sea bass opens this week.
INSHORE – The canals and rivers have been producing great Tautog and Striped Bass opportunities. Green Crabs are tough to come by but are the best bait for the Togs. Striped Bass have been taking a wide range of artificials with anything mimicking bunker to be your best best.
BAIT REPORT – There are reports of Bunker running both in the backwaters and along the front side.

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – A lot of the Tuna fishermen are staying in on account of poor seas.
INSHORE – There’s not much to report here as it’s been so windy. There’s a little bit of Fluke around. Striped Bass are being caught on some poppers on the beach but that hasn’t been all that productive with this weather. If you really need to get out fishing look to some of the backwaters, but even then the bay doesn’t have a lot of FLuke or Striped Bass. There’s some Blowfish over by the 40 can in about 5 feet of water.
BAIT REPORT – Reports of bait have been mixed do to weather turning things up.

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – The guys at Grizz’s say the fishing at the ridge has been tough report on for the last few days due to the wind. The ridge has been spotty out from seaside heights.INSHORE – There’s been lots of Blowfish in the bay by the 42 can. The 42 can is an old wooden buoy, you can’t miss it. The Fluke fishing in the bay has had short windows of good fishing. Spearing is always great for Fluke. You can also catch a lot of Snapper Blues in the short water. They’re very thick through the skinny water and structures and have no problem eating Spearing.
BAIT REPORT – There’s seems to be a perpetually decent amount of Spearing around seaside height and there’s usually a few fish around that don’t mind eating them.

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – If you’ve been wondering where the really big Fluke are, look no further than Barnegat Ridge. The ridge is about a 15 mile run from the Jersey coast. While most people think Tuna and Marlin for the ridge, there can be some nice and big fluke out there. Bottom fishing Squid and Spearing or Squid and Killies has been working well. The Gulp Alive swimming Mullet has been working very well as an alternative to live or frozen bait.INSHORE – Fluke fishing continues around the outer reaches of Seaside Heights. Spearing and Squid will be your best bets when fishing from shore.
BAIT REPORT – The bay has lots of Snapper Blues in at the moment. Peanut Bunker numbers are decent. Spearing and Killies are around and are very easy to catch. Anglers around here say that just about anything will work for chumming Killies including: Cat food, bread, cut up Bunker, and just about anything you can think of to chum.

Lavallette/Seaside Heights/Seaside Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – Kyle down at Grizz’s has really limited access to the ridge. There’s been a little Yellowfin Tuna activity with trolled Ballyhoo being a usual suspect. Always be sure to check the Marine forecast when planning your outing.INSHORE – The weather has hampered the fishing a little bit. The blowfish have been around for a little while but are now in full swing with lots of keepers being caught. Best to chum some clam then tie up a Blowfish rig topped with Squid or Clam. The Fluke has slowed down a little bit but that is certainly due to the past few day’s weather but can be had at the bathing beach.
BAIT REPORT – Spearing can be easily found when the weather cooperates.
Grizz’s has fresh Spearing on the weekends.
