Port St Lucie Fishing Report
INSHORE – The bite has been steady inshore this week. For the most part everything is on schedule, aside from the recent wind which has thrown a few fish off. Trout and Redfish are resilient and when anglers are able to make it on the water they are catching fish. Target Trout during the golden hours, sunrise and sunset. With the weather and murky water you’ll want to be using live bait for attraction. The same story goes for Reds, however they are pushing up to the shallower water. They don’t necessarily mind a bit of dirty water, but they still like to keep shallow. Searching areas such as Pumphouse Road in Titusville will be key. Of course, we can’t forget about the Snook as they hold up on docks and mangrove shorelines up and down the coast. Sizes and numbers are good throughout. They too, will likely come on live bait. Deeper docks may be holding Drum, so don’t be surprised if you hook them as a bycatch. The new kid in town has been Bluefish, and they’re coming in with style. Huge sizes have invaded the beaches, in some areas scaring off other species. Pompano and Whiting can be caught from the beach as well, however they aren’t as consistent down the coast. Towards Indian River you can find them in the inlets, but be prepared for a fight.
OFFSHORE – Unsurprisingly wind has made it tough to get offshore this week however a few weather windows have allowed anglers to make quick trips and take advantage of the bite. By far, the best bite has been from the incoming Dolphin as they make their way in. Towards Daytona, anglers are still travelling quite far, to 2500 feet of water to find them. By the time we get to Indian River they are as close as 120 feet of water. The sizes are decent so far and when the weather allows they are definitely worth going after. The bottom bite is also producing this week. Amberjack have turned up from roughly 90 feet of water out of the Indian River area. Sandbar Sharks can also be found swimming offshore, but most anglers are avoiding them while targeting Ajs during the few opportunities they have. Swimming above, anglers are excited to see Kings making their way closer to shore. It shouldn’t be long before they are nearshore. Target them on the troll as they have been quite active over the past week.

INSHORE – Tripletail are in the port on the buoy lines. The inlet is holding a hot Snook (Snook, Common) bite into this week. Monster Bluefish are also around. They are New Jersey Bluefish holding up here and they are up to 20 pounds in big schools which is rare for the area. This time of year they are normally hot however they are usually up to 5 pounds. The big fish just seem to have taken a break on their way up. They will likely continue their move soon. Cobia are a bit scattered but anglers are hooking a few free swimmers here and there.
OFFSHORE – Dolphin fishing has begun to pick up from 150 to 200 feet of water, look for weedlines. Tuna are hot for anglers heading to the other side. Yellowfin (Tuna, Yellowfin) in particular are decent sizes as we head to the West side of the Gulf Stream and the bite is great.

Port St Lucie Fishing Report
INSHORE – There is a superb variety of fish to be taken inshore this week. The Trout in particular are the main bite so far. The early morning and late evening bite has been, hands down, the best time to fish from Daytona to Port St. Lucie. A variety of setups are working to hook them including both live and artificial baits. As we move towards Titusville we see live bait being more successful. Overall there has been no trouble stacking up a few good Trout. Typically talking about Redfish goes hand in hand with Trout however this week they seem to be a bit more scattered. They are still worth targeting inshore however there are no impressive numbers to report.
Snook are a close second in terms of the hot bite. They, too, are being caught from Daytona through Port St. Lucie. They aren’t too picky in terms of what they have been taking. Artificials such as Spoolteks and Flare Hawks are working along with live Pilchards, Menhaden or Mullet. They seem to be an easy fish to land this week if you are looking for a quick catch.
The typical early Spring fish are beginning to heat up. We are seeing Sheepshead on structure, Drum in the Lagoon, along with Pompano, Bluefish and Whiting heating up on the beaches. We are also seeing tons of bait moving into the coastal areas. Everything is looking good to improve throughout the next few weeks and fire up a great Spring bite.
OFFSHORE – Now that we are finally seeing some nicer weather the bite is beginning to improve. Dolphin are the main catch from Daytona to Port St. Lucie. The sizes are great so far and the bite is steady. Anglers are targeting them anywhere from 150 feet of water and out, with some areas being just a bit closer in 90 feet. Anglers haven’t had any trouble hooking up the past week.
Kings are the next more prominent target into this week. They continue to show up, scattered with Cobia a bit closer to the coast. Anglers are trolling with live bait such as Ballyhoo or Cigar Minnows.
The bottom bite has been producing the usual Snapper and Amberjack anywhere from 60 feet and out. Cape Canaveral and Sebastian in particular have been hot areas to target them.

Port St Lucie Fishing Report
INSHORE – Even though it’s been tough to get offshore this week there has been a fantastic bite for anglers heading to the surf or the inshore. We are seeing a nice variety of fish starting with a hot Drum bite from Daytona through Vero Beach area. As usual you can find them on structures as well as on the beaches and in the rivers. They are also taking a variety of bait setups including cut Clams, Shrimp or Fishbites. Plenty of Sheepshead are mixed in as they begin to fire up. You can fish them using similar bait setups.
As always, the typical Redfish, Trout and Snook are hanging around. Redfish seem to prefer the Island life so areas like Cucumber Island and the spoil islands will be key. Trout are improving as we move South but if you are targeting them be prepared to be heading out in the early morning for the best bite. Snook can’t seem to make up their minds so they are just about everywhere. It doesn’t take much looking to find them however hooking them will require Pinfish or Greenies this week.
Scattered reports of Flounder on the jetties as well as Pompano and Mackerel on the beach are beginning to come in and they should fire up as the weather improves. Bait is also beginning to show up which is a promising sign.
OFFSHORE – Despite tough fishing conditions there still some anglers braving the waters to take advantage of the unpressured bite. That being said, most reports are coming from closer wrecks and reefs with the bottom bite being more successful. Snapper are turning up in a variety of species this week and can be found consistently from Daytona to Vero. Head out to about 12 miles or look for ledges in 90 feet of water to find the best fish.
With the recent wind there has surprisingly been little debris floating around for Dolphin to be swimming under, so they are fairly scattered into this week. There are some nice catches turning up for anglers trolling Ballyhoo however they are nowhere near a steady bite. King Mackerel and Cobia are hit or miss throughout the region however they are out there if you are targeting them. If you can make it far enough offshore on a nice day, Sailfish have been caught out of Port St. Lucie.

Port St Lucie Fishing Report
INSHORE – Snook season has been pretty good throughout the Central East Coast of Florida. The hottest bite this week was out of Ft. Pierce. Charter Captains and recreational anglers alike were finding success on live bait or jigs around bridges. Port St. Lucie saw good action in the spillway and locks, you can use shiners here. Nighttime Snook anglers are crediting most of the catches to using Windcheaters, Long As, Live Targets and also Shrimp. Pompano, when you can fish the surf, are decent from the beach in Daytona and Cocoa Beach but windy. They are also at the inlet around Ft. Peirce. Anglers are also doing well from the beach in port. St. Lucie fishing from Sandbar into the drop using goofy jigs or flare hawks. There has been Bluefish mixed in aswell. The Redfish and Trout bite has been steady, though not amazing. The best reports we had all week came from Mosquito Lagoon, where fish were tailing when the wind took a break. The bite was also good near Queen’s Cove on an outgoing tide, and Port St. Lucie saw both Trout and Redfish doing alright to the South.

OFFSHORE – Anglers saw a few bumpy days this week. We would normally expect reports on Mahi, Sailfish, Snappers and Grouper at this time of year. Blame the weather for a limited number of fishable days. Wahoo fishing was slow but should pick up out of Daytona as the full moon sets in. Amberjack have fished well from 80 to 130 feet of water. A live pinfish or other live bait sent to the bottom should do the trick. Red Snapper have been caught and released all over, especially off of Daytona. There are also a lot of reports of Kingfish caught this past week. Good numbers, combined with some poor seas, have kept a lot of angler in 60 to 90 feet of water trolling Clarkspoons, Bluerunners and Threadfins.

Stuart Fishing Report
INSHORE – Trout fishing has been much better here than for Northeast Florida. If you like Trout fishing with live bait, expect to get into some Snook as well. Since the water has been warm, the Snook are fired up from Daytona to anywhere south of that. Most of the big Snook have been caught in the high current areas such as inlets. There’s still some Pompano being caught from the surf throughout the region, they just aren’t on fire. Whiting are mixed in with the Pompano and you can fish some inshore structures for Sheepshead.

OFFSHORE – A few bumpy days kept the boats close and the focus on Cobia, Kings and Ajs. Cape Canaveral landings saw decent number of King Mackerel and Cobia landed this week. Most of the Kings came off of 8A or Pelican, Cobia from fishing structures. There hasn’t been much talk of Cobia on Rays yet, we’re going to have to stick to deeper water for now. It can’t hurt, however, to keep an eye out for them when fishing buoys for Tripletail. Amberjack continued to fish well when the boats could get to at least 80 feet of water. Some popular baits were live Pinfish and Pigfish.

INSHORE – Snook and Jack Crevalle were the hot catches this week. They are being caught on DOA lures, Yo Zuri Minnow patterns and bait. Most of the fish have been caught throughout inlets and sea walls. There were also some Cobia up to 50 pounds on the beaches at Jupiter and Juno.
There has been some good Sheepshead opportunities throughout the Southeast but they do slow down as you hit warmer water. Good sized Tarpon have been showing up in Fort Lauderdale. We are expecting that bite to heat up over the next few weeks.

OFFSHORE – They always say there are plenty of fish in the sea, that couldn’t be more true for Florida’s Southeast Coast. Gulf Stream fishing produced a few Swordfish in approximately 800 feet of water. There are also some Tilefish being caught in the same depth from Deerfield on down to Pompano beach. Boats out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale had a really good week catching everything from Sailfish on kites to Dusky Sharks in 500 feet of water.

INSHORE – Shallow water anglers around Titusville and into Mosquito Lagoon had a few days of good Redfish, Black Drum and Trout fishing. Most of the fish were caught on the flats. Haulover Canal in particular also had a good Sheepshead bite. The beaches from New Smyrna down to Sebastian had good scatterings of Pompano and some Whiting. Southern Flounder were even caught off of Sebastian area beaches.

OFFSHORE – Private Boats and Charter Boats alike found good King Mackerel opportunities from Cape Canaveral down to Sebastian Inlet. Off of Cape Canaveral in particular, Captains reported lots of Kings being caught around 8A. The only thing that seemed to slow the fishing down was a little bit of weather.
Cobia reports were slim this week although the Palm Bay / Melbourne area did offer up some of these fish in 60 ft of water. Offshore bait had been a little lean from Daytona Beach and South towards Stuart, trolling for Dolphin only saw a few boats hooking Gaffers.

Port St Lucie / Stuart Fishing Report
INSHORE – Beach fishing has been decent throughout the region. Whiting, Bluefish and Pompano are being caught in good numbers up around New Smyrna Beach. As you go South towards Cocoa Beach you will begin to see more Redfish, Black Drum and Sharks such as Blacktip, Spinner and Blacknose on the beach. Palm Bay and Melbourne area in particular has a good number of Sharks chasing Whiting on the beach.
Inlet fishing from Palm Bay down to Port St. Lucie has been really productive for Snook anglers. Jack Crevalle are also being caught while Snook fishing. Most of the Jacks have been caught South of Vero beach.
Trout and Redfish haven’t been spectacular by any means however they are around any of the usual inshore flats and creeks all throughout Indian River. Shrimp, MirrOdines and DOAs will hook them.
OFFSHORE – For anyone looking to catch some Wahoo on the high speed troll they can travel to the gulf stream out of Daytona / New Smyrna area or South of Port St. Lucie. Dolphin have been really scattered. The best areas to head out of will be Palm Bay / Melbourne or farther South of Stuart. Kingfish and Sailfish have been decent when the boats can get out. Successful boats have launched out of Port Canaveral, Fort Pierce and South.
Offshore and nearshore bottom fishing was strongest from Palm Bay down to Vero Beach. Mostly Lanes and Vermillion Snapper are turning up. As you move farther South Mangroves are mixed in. Particularly off of Stuart there are plenty of catch and release Triggerfish. The only real word on Cobia came in from anglers fishing the wrecks and reefs out of Vero Beach.

INSHORE – The anglers are hooking Croaker off the beach this week. Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are still biting. Work your way from the mouth of the channel to the bridge. Clams are working well to hook them but Shrimp is also good. They are a bit bigger than they have been the past few years. Bluefish are out there for anglers who target them. The rough weather recently has kept a lot of anglers off the water. Drum (Drum, Black) and Sheepshead are in the river with Croaker and Whiting (Kingfish, Southern). The Roosevelt has been hot for big Drum. Snook (Snook, Common) are on fire taking live Shrimp at night. The water is a lot better than it has been, we just have to wait for the wind to die down. INSHORE – The bite has been a bit more productive into this week. Tripletail have been caught on structure around St. Lucie inlet over to the Stuart Causeway. The sizes are great so far. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) have been far more active on the West side of the river around Harbor Branch and to the North. The Trout are more prominent than the Reds. Shrimp under a cork is a consistently good setup. Anglers are heading to the dock lights at night for a good Snook (Snook, Common) bite. The jetties in Fort Pierce are also producing good sizes. The bridges will also produce some good fishing but are better on an outgoing tide. Flair Hawks are working well along with small MirrOlures and Deceivers in white. If you are heading to the South jetty you can expect to find Flounder (Flounder, Southern) taking live Shrimp on an incoming tide. From the beach we are seeing a great Pompano (Pompano, Florida) bite along the Sailfish flats as well as the Jensen Beach and Stuart Causeways. We hope to see this continue into the weekend. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below to reveal tons of information and tips to catch!
OFFSHORE – Now that we are seeing a bit nicer weather the offshore fishing is heating back up! Closer in there have been reports of Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) in Peck’s lake and the Stuart Causeway. Moving farther out, the reefs are holding scattered Cobia and a solid Kingfish (Mackerel, King) bite. Search anywhere from 60-80 ft to find them. If you are heading out in the evening you can expect to find Snapper (Snapper, Gray) in the same area. Make sure you bring live Shrimp or cut bait with you. The scent will make them more active. Farther offshore in 140-200ft we are seeing a great number of Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish), Mahi (Dolphin) and even a few Wahoo. Wahoo can be hooked on the high speed troll. Generally live Ballyhoo is a good bet in terms of bait. Dolphin can be a bit scattered however they are out there with the Sails so if you are targeting them you may have to be patient. INSHORE – The low tides in the evening are producing Snook (Snook, Common). Live bait usually provides a better bite. The water in the river is great between Palm City Bridge and Hell’s Gate. Heading to the IRL the water is a bit dirtier. Fort Pierce inshore is great for Snook and Reds (Drum, Red) with the clear water. From the beaches we are seeing Mackerel in between Stuart and Jupiter. The more you cast the better. Plenty of Bluefish and Jacks (Jack, Crevalle) are showing up as well. Anglers are casting at them. Divers and DOA C.A.Ls on jigheads are working well along with Spoons and Gotcha Plugs. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below for additional tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – The recent Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) tournament produced great numbers over the past week. North of the inlet the bite seems to be tougher. Search roughly 90-120 ft of water to find them. Troll early in the day and switch to kites if that doesn’t work. Don’t be afraid to flip back and forth between kites and the troll as the bite seems to change throughout the day. If the sun is up ,you can find the fish. Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater) are turning up off Jupiter with a Mutton (Snapper, Mutton) or two on the bottom. You can find them in water past 70 ft on the wrecks. Cut bait, whole Sardines or Threadfins will work well.
BAIT REPORT – Sardines can be found offshore. There hasn’t been much to catch locally. Mullet are swimming in schools from Fort Pierce to Vero. Search boat ramps, mangrove shorelines and sandbars close to channels.

INSHORE – Drum (Drum, Black) and Redfish (Drum, Red) are up by the Roosevelt. Bigger Croaker have been caught in this area as well taking frozen or live Shrimp. On the beach we are seeing Bluefish, Whiting (Kingfish, Southern), Croaker (Croaker, Atlantic) and a few Pompano (Pompano, Florida) up inside the mouth of the inlet and up to the first bridge. The cold weather has helped improve the bite. Snook (Snook, Common) are biting in the evening on the incoming tide. Custom red tails made by Bruce at Billy Bones are working very well. Spanish Mackerel (Mackerel, Spanish) are being caught from the beach throwing feathered jigs. Spoons are also productive. Chumming with glass minnows from boats will help the bite. INSHORE – This morning we were welcomed with a little cooler temperatures and a small break in the wind. Therefore, it’s a great time to get out and go fishing. Inshore the Snook (Snook, Common) fishing has been red hot. The Fort Pierce and Sebastian inlets have been a hot area for these line-siders. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) have been steady here the last couple weeks with some fish in the north Indian River. This cooler weather should improve the bite over the next couple of days. Early in the morning a walking topwater bait will work best, such as a Skitter Walk. Small Paddle Tail baits by Slayer or DOA are also productive. Big cut Mullet on the chunk is a great addition. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below for additional tips and tricks!
OFFSHORE – Offshore it has been too rough to get out and fish here the last few weeks, but there have been a few reports of Dolphin in the 100-300 foot area. Port St Lucie / Stuart Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – Yesterday I decide to do a scouting trip to an area I had fished in a couple of years, I took two friends and off we went. The destination the south end of Melbourne reef and drift north, The Melbourne reef is in 180 feet of water and is approximately 15 miles long. It is 18 miles NE of Fort Pierce inlet. Plan was to drift north toward the rock piles if we couldn’t use the Minn Kota trolling motor. Depending on how that worked we had a few options do the drift again continue the drift further or the second area was called spotty reef inshore about 5 miles, our third stop would have then been Bethel Shoals. As we headed out the, it was clear the weather forecast was incorrect once again by the time we were 8 miles out we were in a solid 3 foot sea and we could see storms off shore. We got in the area of the Snapper hole which was 6 miles from our intended destination. I turned the radar on and determined the storms were in the general area of our destination. We decided to change the plan and run north 6 miles to the South end of spotty reef in 90 feet of water and avoid the worst weather. We had purchased live bait at the dock as well. I put live bait down and instantly hooked up. It was the first Red Snapper (Snapper, Red) I’ve caught in a long time. It was a beautiful fish measuring 29 inches, we took a few pictures and released it. As I was fighting the Snapper one of the guys hooked up on a Dolphin which we were able to boat as well. We caught and released one other Red Snapper measuring 27 inches, a Mutton Snapper (Snapper, Mutton) at 25 inch and a second Dolphin. We also caught a brunch of Triggerfish (Triggerfish, Gray), Vermillion Snapper (Snapper, Vermillion) and some nice size Lane Snapper (Snapper, Lane).

OFFSHORE – I took a group out to club reef, 6 .5 nautical miles SE of Fort Pierce inlet. I had 3 adults and an 8 year old. It was the first time the kid had fished the ocean. The conditions were marginal with the sea forecast at 3 to 4 foot seas but the sea buoy reading 2.5 foot. The day was nice a sunny there were a few white caps. The water temperature was 75 degrees the depth there was 58 feet. We started with a combination of cut Grunt from a previous trip and cut Squid. The first area was fairly slow and after a few fish came in slowed down even more so I moved to another spot on the reef. The second area had a lot of action on the bottom we started catching Lane Snapper (Snapper, Lane) fairly regularly along with lots of Grunts. We also caught a few Triggerfish (Triggerfish, Gray) as well. We caught 1 nice Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black) just under legal so he was returned. We ended up hooking a few Spinner Sharks (Shark, Spinner), the kid loved that. The kid was having a great time and caught the largest fish on the boat that day. There was a real nice Kingfish (Mackerel, King) swimming around the boat. I put live bait in his zone he looked at it and turned away. I then tried a grunt filet with the same results. My next attempt was a frozen Sardine still no luck we tried Squid as well, we finally gave up and headed home.

INSHORE – Snook (Snook, Common) fishing at the inlet in Fort Pierce has been great on outgoing and incoming tide. Flair hawks are still your best bet to catch a keeper. The Redfish (Drum, Red) fishing has been phenomenal north of Fort Pierce, Copper 1/4 oz spoons have been doing the trick! The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) bite has been fantastic as well with reports of 20-40 trout a day at round island. Electric Chicken shad tails and a 1/80z chartreuse jig head have been the best lure to use. A few schools of Tarpon have been spotted on the beach anywhere from 40 lbs-150 lbs.

Port St Lucie / Stuart Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – I took a friend and two new members of the Port St Lucie Anglers club out to the snapper hole for a day of bottom fishing on Tuesday. The seas were running 2 feet in the morning as we headed out. I didn’t go to my normal spot, instead I went to the spot we ended at on Monday. There were 100os of Grunts (Grunt, White) on the bottom mixed in with some Vermilion and Lane snappers (Snapper, Vermillion & Snapper, Lane). Though we caught a lot of fish the number of keepers were far and few between. I tried a few other spots in the same area with the same results. I decided to try deeper went to the 100 foot mark and drifted with very little luck so I decided to leave the area and head to a spot that worked 2.5 miles north in 90 feet of water. Once I electronically anchored we caught Triggerfish (Triggerfish, Gray) right away. We also caught a lot of Vermilion Snapper but they were all short. Mixed in with the Vermilion Snappers were some Lane Snapper as well. We put a live line up on top and a live line on the bottom. I ended up with 2 live lines on top one was a couple of 100 feet from the boat with a float and the second around 25 feet from the boat with a float. I saw a nice King (Mackerel, King) hit the short line and handed the rod to my friend who was standing right next to the rod. He got it alongside the boat and I gaffed it and got it over the gunwales and in the boat. By the end of the day we had a bunch of nice Triggerfish and Lane Snapper along with the King Mackerel. I also caught my first Lionfish, I cleaned it and cooked it up they are very tasty.

Port St Lucie / Stuart Fishing Report
INSHORE – Things have been a bit slow due to the wind and dirty water lately. Trout and Snook (Snook, Common) are in the inlet this week. Sheepshead and Drum (Drum, Black) are on structure as well as the surf. The surf is also holding Pompano, Florida and Reds (Drum, Red) too however the bite is not as hot. There has been quite a bit of fresh water mixed into the system as of late so it has really slowed fishing down.
OFFSHORE – Due to the strong winds I we were forced to skip the reef trip yesterday and fish the river. The forecast was very accurate the winds were blowing out of the North, North east at least 20 MPH creating a 5 foot sea and churning the river up. We had outgoing tide so the wind and current were in same direction, we still had a 2 foot chop in the river. The river temperature was 65 degrees the clarity was extremely poor as it has been all winter with around two feet visibility. I found the fish in the 3 to 4 foot range. The drift was fairly fast at 1.5 to 1 .7 Knots. We were casting lures and we had live Shrimp and frozen Mullet dead sticking. The lure of choice was the reliable Mirr-o-Lure 17 MR in yellow and the 17MR brown spotted. Spoons were also working. The charter landed a nice Grouper (Grouper, Gag) on the first drift. We had Ladyfish biting most of the day. The live Shrimp didn’t produce a lot of hits but the frozen Mullet got the largest Sail Catfish (Catfish, Gafftopsail) we’ve ever seen, 25 inches. We also caught few Jacks (Jack, Crevalle) that were small and put them back as live bait but they didn’t produce ether.

OFFSHORE – I had a father and his 10 year old son visiting from Boston on the boat. The weather gave us a break, we had a one day window of flat seas in between days of 4 to 6 foot seas. We departed the ramp at half past 8, nice sunny but chilly morning for Florida standards it was 44 degrees out the water temp at the inlet was 58 degrees. We headed NE to the snapper hole seas were flat. As we got further offshore the water warmed up. By the time we got to the snapper hole the sea surface temperature was 72 degrees. The wind was around 5 MPH out of the NE the current was running about 2 knots. I was able to use my Minkota I-Pilot trolling motor to electronically anchor me over the reef. The bottom machine showed there were a few fish on my first set of numbers. We were using a combination of baits, cut Squid, small frozen Sardines, Small frozen Mullet, frozen Shrimp, and live Shrimp. The son dropped the line in and within a few minutes had a fish on, a nice Grouper, Gag. As they were fishing I put out a long line with 25 feet of fluorocarbon leader with a circle hook baited with a whole Mullet. The rod went down hard and at the end we boated a 20 inch Snapper, Gray. Throughout the day the fishing was steady they caught Snapper (Snapper, Yellowtail, Snapper, Lane), Triggerfish, Flounder (Flounder, Southern & Flounder, Gulf), Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black), Grunts (Grunt, White), Blue Runners, Sharks, sand Perch (Surfperch, Barred), and Lizard fish.

OFFSHORE – Weather hasn’t been very cooperative. Strong winds out of the south forced us to fish in the river again. We had live Shrimp out as well as lures. We were using Mir-O-lures 17 MR and gold spoons The day started slow with incoming tide and wind against tide. We took the 24 foot Sea Chaser instead of the flats boat. There was a pretty good chop on the river. The river sea temp was 72 degrees. The clarity was very poor. We were drifting south of Harbor Branch. When the tide changed and started heading out the bite started We caught a bunch of sea trout lots of Ladyfish, and a real nice Gag Grouper (Grouper, Gag), unfortunately the season for grouper is closed so we had to release the fish. The grouper was caught on a light weight tackle and hit a 4 inch gold spoon as we drifted along the east side of the channel on the slope.

INSHORE – I had a husband wife charter today. Due to the weather conditions we switched the trip from an offshore bottom fishing trip to an inshore flats trip on my flats boat. Though the weather forecast said zero chance of rain we had spotty showers most of the day. The river clarity was terrible with less than 2 foot visibility. The temperature in the Indian River Lagoon was 57 degrees. The day was mostly overcast even when it wasn’t raining. We started in Queens Cove there was very little wind. They were using 17 MR Mirro-0-lure in yellow and a gold spoon. I was anchored using the power pole. I also had 2 lines out with live Shrimp and 1 line out with cut bait (a Ladyfish chunk) we went getting any hits. We tried to slow troll along the mangroves using the Minn Kota I-pilot and still no luck. I decided to head out into the deeper water where I had some success on a previous trip. We still had incoming tide but the drift was relatively slow. We started in 4 feet of water on the west side of the lagoon South of harbor branch and drifted toward harbor branch. Our first fish was a nice Grouper, Gag. It measured just over 20 inches and he was photographed and released. The rest of the day was steady we caught 4 keeper Seatrout, Spotted up to 20 inches and released several smaller ones. We also caught and released a Puffer Fish (Puffer, Smooth). We fished from 18 ft of water to 8 ft of water the fish seemed to be spread out all over the lagoon.

INSHORE – There are still some good fish throughout the inshore this week. Pompano, Florida have been swimming in Stuart so far as well as in the Fort Pierce rivers. Anglers have been using Shrimp, Sand Fleas and Clams. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) bite is heating up on topwaters just north of Ft. Pierce. The Spanish Macks (Mackerel, Spanish) are holding up in the lake. They are being caught on spoons and Spanish Mackerel jigs. The bite is consistent and the sizes are good so far.
OFFSHORE – The weather has been pretty rough offshore this week however there are still some anglers that have managed to make it out on the water. Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) are hitting pretty close in around 100 ft of water. There are also Mahi (Dolphin) biting just a bit farther out at 200 ft. The wind direction is expected to change this weekend which may spread them out a bit.

Port St Lucie / Stuart Fishing Report
INSHORE – Anglers have been destroying inshore fish this week. As the weather and water have stayed unseasonably warm so far we have not seen the fish moving out like we normally would and they are all stocked up near structure. The Seawalls and bridges are holding some great sizes of both Reds (Drum, Red) and Snook, Common. They have also been found near the Sebastian Inlet. The outgoing tide has been the best time to fish using 1.5 – 2 oz jigs. The color has not seemed to matter this week. Reds have also been pushing down from the North so anglers are seeing a lot more great sizes and numbers. Shrimp or cow jigs from DOA are a great choice for the moving fish.
OFFSHORE – Despite the nasty weather lately there are some Tuna, Blackfin that can be hooked on the troll. Skirted Ballyhoo or similar bait around 100-200 ft of water will produce some great results. There are also good pots of Mahi (Dolphin) that can be hooked on the same bait. Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) have been decent however the bite is a little scattered. There are no signs of Billfish – Swordfish as of yet.
BAIT REPORT – Anglers are seeing the tail end of the Mullet run this week. They are a bit harder to find but are there for anyone who puts their time in. Great sale on SIMMS gear and 10% off select YETI products just in time for the Holidays.

Freeling Mullet has also proven to be successful this week on the mangroves and islands. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have been hitting the same places however they are preferring Shrimp under a popping cork. Drum (Drum, Black) and Sheepshead have moved inside now and are fairly good sizes so far. They are not as picky and are hitting just about anything. Sand fleas, clams and Shrimp will be productive to catch both Drum and Sheeps this week.
OFFSHORE – The main focus in the offshore this week is on the bottom. Snapper (Snapper, Mutton & Snapper, Gray) are coming up in great sizes and numbers now that anglers can get out. There have also been reports of some Snapper, Yellowtail and Snapper, Lane mixed in. Farther out there are some reports of a few Mahi (Dolphin) being caught on the troll along with some Mackerel, King from 80-160 ft of water. Now that conditions have calmed the fish are hungry and active. Live baits such as Ballyhoo are working well on the troll for Mahi and Kings.
BAIT REPORT – The Mullet run has just about ended however there are still Glass Minnows and Greenies (Threadfins) for anglers looking to catch some bait.

INSHORE – Improving winds and sea conditions have allowed anglers the opportunity to capitalize on the fall bite. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) and Drum (Drum, Red) are making their annual appearance at the Inlet and surrounding areas. Flounder and Drum are taking Mud Minnows, as well as Finger Mullet, Live Shrimp and Clams. High-tide Tarpon action has been reported at both the South and North jetties, although the Snook, Common bite has slowed somewhat. With our water temps starting to lower, we expect that the Black Drum (Drum, Black) and Sheepshead bite will pick up shortly. Offshore angling has been limited due to the recent cold front passing through that created high winds, high seas and daily small craft warnings. We expect the weather pattern to change over the course of the next week and hope to have more to report soon. Native Tackle Supply, LLC is located directly across the street from the Sebastian Yacht Club and the public boat ramps. We also support our local community fishing club, The Sebastian Fishing Club. We encourage our seasonal and resident anglers to join the Club for informational meetings and a meet n’ greet of fellow anglers. INSHORE – I fished the river the other day for a father son trip on my flats boat. The wind was blowing every bit of 25 MPH out of the NE. I stayed on the east side of the Indian River Lagoon by little mud. We were using plugs live shrimp. We got 1 real nice Mackerel, Spanish on the live shrimp. I have cancelled some upcoming trips on account of the weather.

OFFSHORE – The weather has been unfavorable for our sources in this area. The recent conditions have made getting to the deep water unimaginable. There are some trips set up for the weekend should the weather cooperation however there are no reports at this time. The fish are pretty mixed up but expect that the Dolphin bite as well as Snapper, Vermillion bite will continue once the water settles after a few days of good weather. Anglers heading out can be sure to check out our Tips feature which provides additional suggestions and information to improve the catch. Port St Lucie / Stuart Fishing Report
INSHORE – The West side of the Indian River has been producing some Reds (Drum, Red). There have also been reports of Snook, Common, Bluefish, Jack, Crevalle and Tarpon in the surf. Various minnows, including Mullet, are working well for all of these species as they are craving live bait. OFFSHORE – It has still been pretty breezy in the farther out locations this week. There have been no reports of offshore fishing lately. If you do decide to head out in the next few days you can always consult our Tips feature that provides more information and suggestions that could help improve your catch. You could also head into White’s Tackle Shop for an in-person report on recent trips. BAIT REPORT – There are plenty of minnows running the beaches however the Mullet are starting to become spotty. Halloween generally marks the end of the Mullet run however they are still available and working well inshore. White’s Tackle Shop 772-266-4010Port St Lucie Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – The wind is harsh out this way making offshore fishing extremely difficult. No one has been taking on the conditions this week and although the rain should die down in the next few days the wind is expected to continue on and off for a little while still. There have been no reports at this time so we are anxiously awaiting improved weather.
INSHORE – The weather inshore has also not been ideal however there are some fish if you can’t resist the craving to get out. The Snook (Snook, Common) has been good if you decide to venture into the river. Anglers have been using voodoo Mullets. Of course, Live Mullet will work very well too. There have been reports of Redfish (Drum, Red) and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) out the Vero way but have not moved into this particular area. Once conditions improve we expect to see more congregated fish and a lot more success.
BAIT REPORT – There are a lot of Mullet running both Finger and full sized. They are bringing the fish closer to shore however conditions are still making fishing difficult.

OFFSHORE – The wind and swell is keeping most people at home as the boats are taking a pounding on the water. When it does calm down, hopefully in the coming week, we expect to keep seeing Wahoo and some Sailfish pick up.
INSHORE – With Mullet continuing to push through we are seeing a lot of Snook, Tarpon, Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel along the beaches. There are so many we have reports the anglers cannot keep their bait in the water. They’ve also been hitting artificials such as rapala Xwraps, voodoo Mullet, Super Spook or most topwaters that looks like Mullet. Early morning and late afternoons are going to be your best to time to get in on the topwater bite.
BAIT REPORT – We haven’t seen a Mullet run this thick in a long time. They are still making their way along the beaches and in turn acting as the perfect Live Bait. There’s some other little minnows around but since the fish are on Mullet, that’s what everyone is netting.
OF NOTE – For any anglers who have not heard, White’s Tackle Shop offers a fantastic deal on DOA plastics, Buy 5 get the 6th Free so don’t forget to take advantage of this great sale offered year round.

We went to my favorite spot out of Fort Pierce inlet north east just short of the Snapper hole. Water was really clear, seas were a bit larger than the forecast of one to two feet as it was closer to three feet probably due to wind opposite current. My Minnkota trolling motor was able to keep us on point though it was working hard. We were using 5 and 6 oz. sinkers to hold bottom. After we caught a few smaller Grunts we put a Grunt alive on top on a float and a grunt on the bottom alive. We caught a nice Dolphin on the top line ,it measured out at 38”. We were getting a lot of Grunts and small Vermilion Snappers so I decided to make a short move to another spot I marked but hadn’t fished. This spot was 850 feet north east of our present location. As soon at the lines hit bottom we had a nice fish on a Queen trigger, first one I’ve seen in a few years here. While on that spot we caught a lot more Snapper, mostly shorts, and some nice Triggerfish. The clouds were starting to build and the crew were getting tired so we called it a day and headed back. Our timing was perfect we finished cleaning the fish as the first raindrops started falling. Capt. Mark Rosen www.pslfishing.com

INSHORE – The beaches are producing a decent amount of Redfish right now. Shrimp are working very well for them. Cigar Minnows are also working well for the Redfish. The Tarpon bite has been pretty in most of the waters around Port St Lucie and Stuart. That’s not to say they are nowhere to be found, but if a bent rod is what you’re after then look no further than the beach for some good Redfish bites.BAIT REPORT – Greenbacks have made their way to the area. Reports about their concentrations have been sporadic, however, all you have to do is find them to have good numbers. Alewives are also around and in good numbers.

OFFSHORE – Weather has been bad and there is a storm heading this way that should make quick work of the weekend. Right now the Dolphin are out as fasr as 45 miles, but other than that people aren’t catching too much. There are Tripletail on the weedlines, but those are going to be blown around with the incoming weather. Bottom fishing has been slow ever since the thermocline wiped everything out.INSHORE – The bite for Snook and Tarpon at night under the lights is good. The Snook are active early in the morning and later in the afternoon, but the midday is tough because of the heat. There are more Trout on the west side of the river, and there are not many Reds around right now. Shrimp will be your bait of choice for pretty much everything.
BAIT REPORT – A lot of Mullet on the west side of the indian river. In Stuart there are little Finger Mullet everywhere. Fort Pierce also had a huge bait pod move through last weekend. So bait is around and moving, keep your eyes peeled.

Port St Lucie / Stuart Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – There’s been quite a few Blackfin Tuna starting in about 400 feet of water. You’ll be ranging 12 to 20 miles offshore. Feathers are working very well and the rod(s) rigged with the feather should be the furthest rod out.INSHORE – This time of year you can’t go wrong with a live Mullet or Greenie. If you’re going to use artificial bait or lures, make sure they imitate the Mullet or the Greenie such as rapala x-wraps, tsunami swim baits and so on. With your bait fish presentation you can expect to catch Snook, Tarpon, Kingfish, Bonita, Sharks, and Jack. They’re there because the bait is there. Since most of the Greenies are in the river, you’ll most likely want to use Mullet or a Mullet imitation when fishing inshore.
BAIT REPORT – Although it’s early, Mullet are starting to run down the beaches. There’s a very healthy amount of Greenies in river.
Snook season is just around the corner and Billy Bone’s has stocked a great selection of gear for the occasion.

OFFSHORE – The fishing has been good, Dolphin starting in as close as 150 feet. The key is to keep your eyes open for the weedlines. Live Ballyhoo is the best bait you can throw to them, and you can purchase frozen ballyhoo that are already rigged at Billy Bone’s Bait & Tackle in Stuart. If you are trolling frozen bait, then you can troll a little faster because you don’t have to worry about drowning the bait.INSHORE – The Snook fishing at night on the bridges is still really good, mostly catch and release. They are biting excellently on the Redtail Hawk – which is one of the most widely used baits this time of year. During the day take some Shrimp to the river and you should find Croaker and Sheepshead. Snook at night is still good at bridges (catch and release).
BAIT REPORT – Bait has been plentiful early in the morning and plenty of people are catching them to the North and South of the inlet.
There will be more specials at Billy Bones Bait & Tackle once Snook Season starts (Sept 1st.)

OFFSHORE – The weather has just been awful and no one has been offshore fishing which means no one has heard anything.INSHORE – There have been some Snook, Tarpon, and big Jacks around the power plant by Fort PIerce. Any of the soft plastic DOAs are going to serve you well. Topwater lures are also doing great and Jeff over at Billy Bones bait & Tackle likes the badunkadunk bomber. As for colours, silver with a blue strip through it, and pink and green are awesome.
BAIT REPORT – There is bait around expect to catch some Threadfin Herring, but there have been no reports of Pinfish.

OFFSHORE – Captain Mark over at Port St. Lucie Fishing Charters hit a Snapper hole that had tons of Vermillion Snapper. A dozen were legal size. He also found a lot of Lane Snapper in the legal size as well. He caught one nice Triggerfish that was almost 20 inches. The bad news for the offshore is that there are lots and lots of sharks ready to take your fish in half. Expect to throw a few fish back at your usual spots, but fishing is fine right now, despite the afternoon thunderstorms.INSHORE – James at White’s tackle has been seeing a lot of Snook at the beach and inlet. They are also hanging around the Roosevelt. Head West towards the Roosevelt and the Tarpon are rolling through there. Sea Trout and Jack Crevalle are around in the usual areas – The Jack are along the seawall. Big Mullet schools are being run through by the Jack, which forces the Mullet to the surface, so as soon as you spot a school head on over and bait out the Jacks. Snook, Sea Trout, and Redfish are being caught trolling with Shrimp or Crab at the flats basically been . going toward the beach, catch the snook at the beach and inlet. If you hit the backwater, towards the power plant, there are more Sea Trout and Redfish.
BAIT REPORT – Mark hasn’t seen any, but thinks there might be some in the bay. James has seen tons of it in the Indian River.

OFFSHORE – The best place to head out to right now is the sand pile. The water level dropped a few weeks ago and brought the Cobia and Sailfish right in. Go out with live bait, and hit the weedlines and you should be doing well. Dolphin fishing has been in 80-100 feet of water on the weedlines. Your ideal bait is going to be Pilchards, Cigar Minnows, and stuff like that. Cold water has really shut down the bottom fishing, so don’t waste your time.INSHORE – The ocean is pretty flat right now so catch the right tide and fish the inlet and coastal beaches. Snook are still spawning right now. There are also the occasional roller of Tarpon coming through. Some of the Tarpon hang out around the Roosevelt, you just got to find the pod. Captain Jim came into the shop the other day and he caught a 150 pounder. That’s a big Tarpon!
BAIT REPORT – On the beach and inlets bait is hit or miss; it is either thick or not there.

I did 2 trips to my favorite spot at the snapper hole on Friday and Saturday. On Friday I had a father and son along with a friend of mine. The cleared the inlet at 8:00 am. Seas were nice and flat sea water temp was 81 degrees with 25 feet visibility. We caught lots of short vermilion snapper and grunts; we did manage to get a few vermilion that were legal size as well as a legal lane snapper. A nice size cobia approached our boat. Using a Penn 5500 spinner on an ugly stick with a circle hook I tossed a sardine to it, he looked at it and turned away. I then tossed a grunt filet to him which he also looked and turned away. One of the guys caught a grunt at that point I put it on and tossed it to him and the fight was on, he jumped 3 times as he fought . We got him to the boat and I was able to gaff him He was just over 35”. A second cobia came by we already had a sardine in the water which didn’t interest him at all so I tossed a live grunt in his direction and he took it right away. He looked close to be legal so we netted him and unfortunately he was only 32” so we released him. On Saturday we went to the same spot I had a father and 2 sons on the charter Lots of small vermilion snappers and grunts. There was always fishing coming over the gunwales. We also caught a few Trigger fish only 1 meeting the new size limit of over 14”. I nice size dolphin swam by I tossed a sardine to him and he picked it up right away several nice leaps in the area and we got him in the boat 36” real nice fish. We had a second one we released. We also caught a large Bonita on a live grunt.Capt Mark Rosen

We fished the snapper hole which is 12 miles NE of Fort Pierce inlet. Seas were running 2 to 3 feet with the current was running about 1.5 knots. Wind was out of the south east at 15 knots. Between the current and wind speed my Minkota trolling motor would hold us on anchor watch. We were fishing in 90 feet of water. Sea surface temperature was 81 degrees. The moon was almost full. My under water light attracted a lot of bait fish and squid. There were a lot of flying fish in the area as well and several actually flew into the boat. We tried to anchor over my favorite bottom spot it’s a small area and I was unable to get us over it. The area there is has lots of small areas relatively close to each other so we drifter it. We caught a lot of grunts and under size sea bass as well as some vermilion snapper. We caught a few real nice size porgies ans well as a few smaller ones we released We did get 1 real nice mangrove snapper measuring at just over 24” We fished till just before midnight before calling it a night and headed back to the ramp.Follow me on twitter and facebook or email me at info@pslfishing.com

OFFSHORE – Our friends over at Billy Bone’s Bait & Tackle have been reporting great fishing. There is Cobia along the inshore wrecks in fact one of the guys caught 5 of them just the other day using an assortment of bait that he caught around the beaches. If you had out 200+ feet of water there is Dolphin out there and your best bet is to troll Ballyhoo for them. At Push Button Hill there is also a large number of Blackfin Tuna.RIVER – The water is really nice and clean right now because there hasn’t been a discharge lately which means that the fishing has vastly improved. Right now everyone swears by fishing around the nuclear plant. The best bite is either really early in the morning or late at night. The bridges are ok but the only time they are as good as around the nuclear plant is at night time.
BAIT REPORT – Plenty of live bait around right now go to the bullshark or run the beach north and there is Pilchards, Herring, and Sardines all along the beach.

OFFSHORE– If you’re heading off shore be sure to bring your luck. The Dolphin bite has been on and off. Try trolling Ballyhoo for them They are hanging out in around 80-150 feet of water. There is also a good Mutton Snapper bite. You’ll find them hanging out in about 30 feet of water. INSHORE– Snook is just about everywhere right now. They are excellent in the inlet on the outgoing tide. They are also around the pier. The Snook and Trout are particularly productive in the morning and in the late evening. By the Pier you’ll also find some Tarpon. There, anglers and throwing plugs or live bait like Pilchards.
BAIT– There are lots of Pilchards around.

OFFSHORE – There are lots of Dolphin and Kingfish at the snapper hole in 80 feet of water and sometimes a little shallower. You’ll want to troll for them using live Grunts and Sardines. In terms of bottom fishing you’ll find a wide variety of fish down there. Particularly exciting are the Vermillion Snapper and Triggerfish in the 14 inch range. There are also lots of Sea Bass out there and all the Grunts you could want.INSHORE – If you’re sticking inshore you’ll want to make sure to fish the flats and grass beds during the day. There you’ll find Snook, Redfish, Trout and Snapper. The bridges are also good, particularly for Snook. They are being well on Shrimp. Shrimp works well when it is dead, alive and artificial. DOA Bait Busters work well too.
BAIT REPORT – There isn’t a ton of bait out there but you will find Greenies on the beach.

I fished Saturday and went offshore to the area near the snapper hole, 13 miles NE out of Fort Pierce Inlet. The seas were 2’ to 3’ out of the South east. But the period was short making it somewhat copy out there. We were in 70 feet of water it was clear and 78 degrees. There was a lot of grass in the area. I deployed my Minkota I-Pilot trolling motor and as soon as the chicken rigs hit bottom I had fish on – mostly Vermilion Snappers, all just a little short. I put a Grunt out on a top line with a float and I baited a spinning rod with a whole Sardine and kept it ready just in case we spotted a Dolphin. Sure enough I spotted one streaking by. I tossed the Sardine out in the area and he hit it instantly, I handed the rod off to the charter and the fight was on. One of the other anglers put out the chicken rig at about 5 feet down and that got his as well. We boated both they were both around 25”. Then the live line rod started screaming, I handed the rod to the charter and told him when to lock it up. After a nice fight we boated a 39“King fish that weighed in at 16 pounds. We continued to catch Grunts and Snappers but all the Snappers were just a little short. Then some Gray Trigger fish moved in we boated 2 that were over 14” and released one that was just about 12”. We were using cut Squid, cut Sardines, and cut bait from Grunts and Blue Runners. There are lots of fish out there bit most are shorts. We were able to hold with 5 oz. sinkers.Capt. Mark Rosen

OFFSHORE – Our source at White’s Tackle Shop reports that the Cobie are on fire!! Try throwing bucktailed jigs with pink or chartreuse colours on them. They are hanging out in waters ranging from 25-80 feet deep and the love the reef . The deeper you go the bigger they get. Mangrove and Mutton Snapper are also good.INSHORE – Trout and Redfish have been good. The Snook have also been good even though their season is closed. If you want to find them go straight down the beach on the beach access between Stuart and Fort Pierce. There you’ll find schools of bait being followed by Snook, Tarpon and Jacks. The key is to find a bait pod and then throw a YoZuri or plug in white or clearish white. It’s best if you can fish when the water is clear.
BAIT REPORT – Glass minnows are thick on the beach.
