Miami Fishing Report

INSHORE – You may not believe it but all the hot bites have been coming from the offshore this week. Snook are the most consistent inshore target, but don’t worry, they’re doing well into this week despite the hit or miss weather. Inlets, docks, beaches, seawalls and rivers are all holding decent fish. No matter where you go it seems you will run into some Snook. They are also not picky on bait. Our Captains and Bait Shops seem to be using a wide variety of setups and still finding plenty of success. Scattered Tarpon and Pompano can also be caught, mostly from the beach. They haven’t quite become consistent yet. We hope to see the inshore improve as the season progresses.

OFFSHORE – If you are able to make it offshore this week you will have no problem loading up on a good variety of fish that are turning up in decent sizes as well. There is no question that Dolphin are taking the prize for best fish so far this week. From Juno to Fort Lauderdale they are consistently turning up, the only difference being the depth they are found in. Once you hit your spot, troll a skirted Ballyhoo and get ready for a great bite! Anglers are also getting pumped about the upcoming full moon because you know what that means, Wahoo! They are already beginning to fire up so anglers are taking every opportunity to head to 100-300 feet of water around the Lake Worth to Deerfield areas. The occasional Sailfish and Tuna are also mixed in. When weather keeps anglers nearshore the focus has shifted to the bottom bite. Snapper and Cobia can be caught a bit closer in taking live bait. 90 feet has been a key depth to start in. There has been no shortage of options offshore this week.

INSHORE – Big Bluefish are on the beach from Blowing Rocks to the North, about 20 feet deep. They can be caught from the boats. Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are in good numbers swimming the beach from Juno North. Big Bluefish are also in the river. Jacks (Jack, Crevalle) and Ladyfish are also being caught. Snook (Snook, Common) are holding up on the jetties. They aren’t really thick but they’re becoming more active.

OFFSHORE – There has been some Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin) with schoolie Dolphin this week. Cobia and Kings (Mackerel, King) have been caught as well. Search for them to the North in 100-110 feet of water. The bottom bite has been a bit slower overall. Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) and Wahoo have been caught but they are not consistent. Sails are around 220 feet of water. Most anglers are starting at the edge. Dolphin are coming right up to the top.

BAIT REPORT – There hasn’t been much on bait as of late. Small schools of Mullet are getting ready to fire up in the backcountry.

Miami Fishing Report

INSHORE – They are finally here! Better Tarpon are beginning to show up this week and anglers have long awaited to target them with the early Spring conditions. We are seeing a good variety of techniques working well to hook them from Jupiter to Fort Lauderdale however we are mostly seeing live bait as the key to hooking them. Mullet, Shrimp, Bonito slabs and Kingfish bellies are all good choices this week. We expect that they will be moving into their typical feeding spots as long as the weather stays consistent.
Snook are a great follow up fish this week. They are steadily turning up throughout the inlets and don’t seem to be too picky in terms of what they will feed on. Otherwise, anglers are heading to the beach for scattered Pompano, Whiting or Bluefish.

OFFSHORE –
If you’re heading offshore this week you’re probably out there taking advantage of the hot Dolphin bite! From Jupiter to Fort Lauderdale we are seeing success with many anglers landing good numbers of Mahi. They are scattered throughout the offshore in typical depths however live bait on the troll has been the key to catching them. Blue/white or pink/white combinations are best in terms of artificials.
There are plenty of other fish to target in the deep water as well. We are seeing nice sized Tuna turning up along with Kingfish up to almost 40 pounds. Sails are also mixed in anywhere from 100-300 feet of water. The bottom bite is producing a variety of Snapper as well, especially out of the Jupiter and Juno areas. We hope to see everything continue with the nice weather into next week.

Miami Fishing Report

INSHORE – If you’re heading out to the surf or the inshore this week you’ll want to look towards Jupiter as the Miami area was blown out! The wind has kept many anglers waiting for weather windows to take advantage of the bite. This week, the focus has been on Snook. Your typical areas are holding the best fish however a full moon is what will fire them up. The night bite has been successful for those casting live bait, especially with the bait run beginning in Deerfield.
The day bite is considerably slower this week. When you can find an area with some shelter or a break in the wind you might be able to see some of the scattered Pompano, Bluefish and Sharks running the beach. If you are lucky enough to be able to get onto the reefs, they will be holding decent sized Cobia as well. Once things calm down we suspect that the fish will be feeding on the bait run as the Mullet make their way in and the Sardines head to the rock piles off the beach.

OFFSHORE – This week the weather is cool but the bite is hot, hot, hot! We are still getting a lot of Tuna including Yellowfin, a Bluefin or two, Blackfin and even some Skipjack. The numbers are consistently good from Jupiter to Fort. Lauderdale. Head to 120 feet of water for consistently good sizes of Blackfin from 5 to 8 pounds with bigger sizes mixed in.
There have been reef fish including Kings swimming both nearshore and offshore along the coast. Sails are mixed in with the Kings towards Jupiter however by the time we make our way to Fort Lauderdale they have become, still consistent, but scattered from in close to farther offshore. Normally they are slow at this time of year however they are still quite active into this week. From the bottom, the Snapper are providing the hotter bite. A variety of species have been caught using Sardines as well as Squid throughout the area. Amberjack are beginning to stack up on the deeper reefs as well.

Miami Fishing Report

INSHORE – Anglers have finally had some reports of Cobia close to the beach in Lake Worth. We are hoping the weather treats us to a few opportunities to get on them. Jetty fishermen are doing very well on Snook at night around bridges and dock lights, daytime jetty fishing is also good. If you are unsure of where to go, try Deerfield or Fort Lauderdale and bring some topwaters. Don’t be surprised if you hook a few Jacks and Snapper when using Shrimp. Fishing Headquarters out of Fort Lauderdale has reported bigger Tarpon in the area. The fish have been extremely difficult to get a bite out of. Down in Miami, Government Cut in the bay near the key has produced good amounts of Tarpon.

OFFSHORE – The bottom bite for Snapper has been slow early in the week on account of the wind. This is normally a good thing however because the fish are usually less pressured when you finally get a chance to target them. We caught up with Fishing Headquarters running out of Fort Lauderdale and they reported decent Amberjack fishing around the shipwrecks in 200 feet of water. You will also hook a pile of catch and release Grouper from the bottom. The offshore trolling bite was really hit or miss from Miami up to Jupiter. The better bite was to the South. Wahoo reports were fairly slim unless you were able to get close to the Bahamas. Look to see Dolphin fishing pick up off of West Palm Beach as new debris and weedlines should show up. A mix of Tuna and Bonito were readily caught out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Bonito were up to 5 pounds. Moving closer in, Kingfish have been biting in around 85 feet of water with the odd Sailfish mixed in. Sailfishing should resume following the week’s early wind events.

Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – Jacks and Snook have been on the bite this past week in Southeast Florida. The Jacks in particular have been blowing up Mullet, the Lake Worth/Boynton area is fishing especially well for them. For the Snook, just a Shrimp under a cork will get the job done in most situations this week. From Deerfield to Miami, you can also find a pretty decent Tarpon bite inshore so long as you are using baits that are very lively.

OFFSHORE – Sailfishing was pretty interesting over the past 10 days. Fort Lauderdale and Miami’s Sailfish bite was on prior to the weekend, then it seemed to shut down. A lot of the boats taking part in the Sailfish tournament elected to move north to Pompano beach where quite a few Sailfish ended up being released. Aside from good amounts of Kingfish in 90 to 150 feet of water, there were some very big Blackfin Tuna caught from north of Miami down around to the Keys. Miss Britt Charters out of Miami even boated a few 30 pounders.

Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – Despite the fronts moving through this week there were still a handful of diehard anglers heading out to fish inshore. There is a variety of fish turning up this week. Mangrove Snapper has provided the most consistent bite from Key Largo to Big Pine as they hold up along bridges and structure. Where you find Snapper you will usually hook a Jack Crevalle or two. Unsurprisingly a handful of Barracuda have shown up in the same areas.
Red Drum and Spotted Seatrout have been sporadic at best. In Key Largo the Trout have been a bit more consistent on Shrimp under a cork however they seem to dissipate as we move towards Islamorada. Bait is beginning to move back in. If you are looking to catch your own you should have no shortage, especially towards Key West.

OFFSHORE – Blackfin Tuna are consistently turning up offshore this week from Islamorada to Key West. Anglers are making their way out to the deep water for a spectacular night bite. Good sized fish to 20 pounds have been steadily caught so far.
On the wrecks and reefs the Snapper bite has been off the hook! We are seeing a nice variety with a prominent bite of Muttons. Anglers are having no trouble at all snagging a few keeper sizes. Amberjack and Porgy are mixed in.
We are beginning to see King Mackerel arrive in the area from Key Largo to Key West. They are a bit more scattered throughout the offshore with the occasional Bonito and Wahoo swimming with them. Anglers fast trolling using heavy rigged lures in black/red or black/purple should find success.
Dolphin have provided a sporadic bite ranging anywhere from approximately 200-300 feet of water. Live bait has been the ticket to catch them.

Miami Fishing Report

INSHORE – Snook and Jack Crevalle were the hot catches this week. They are being caught on DOA lures, Yo Zuri Minnow patterns and bait. Most of the fish have been caught throughout inlets and sea walls. There were also some Cobia up to 50 pounds on the beaches at Jupiter and Juno.
There has been some good Sheepshead opportunities throughout the Southeast but they do slow down as you hit warmer water. Good sized Tarpon have been showing up in Fort Lauderdale. We are expecting that bite to heat up over the next few weeks.

OFFSHORE – They always say there are plenty of fish in the sea, that couldn’t be more true for Florida’s Southeast Coast. Gulf Stream fishing produced a few Swordfish in approximately 800 feet of water. There are also some Tilefish being caught in the same depth from Deerfield on down to Pompano beach. Boats out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale had a really good week catching everything from Sailfish on kites to Dusky Sharks in 500 feet of water.

Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – Bluefish have been peppering the beaches from Jupiter to Fort Lauderdale. Don’t be surprised if there is some Spanish Mackerel mixed in. It should be a good time to be throwing spoons or plugs into the surf.
Snook are slowly heating up in the lower stretches of Southeastern Florida. Most popular lures are Flair Hawks and SpoolTeks. A few of the beaches North of Deerfield are offering up some good Pompano action. If you are looking to get into Jacks or Barracuda they have been in particularly good numbers around the Pompano Beach area.

OFFSHORE – The offshore boats have been doing very well on King Mackerel this week. From Jupiter all the way down to Miami the Kingfish have been caught in no less than 85 ft and no deeper than 125 ft, with the exception of Fort Lauderdale anglers finding some big Kings in 150 ft of water. The gulf stream provided a good Wahoo bite this past week. From the waters off of Juno Beach getting heavier around Pompano Beach and slowing down a bit South of Hollywood anglers are finding Wahoo. Sailfish have been sporadic throughout. A lot of boats are spending their time live baiting or trolling in 150-250 ft. Boats trolling anywhere from 200-500 ft all throughout the region have been finding some weeds along with some Dolphin. Cobia, Lane Snapper, and Vermilion Snapper have been caught off of Jupiter and Juno in roughly 100 ft of water. Yellowtail Snapper have been slow from Lake Worth down to Boca Raton. Bottom fishing has been a bit slow in Southeast Florida. Except for a good Yellowtail bite in 60-90 ft of water out from Miami.

INSHORE – Snook (Snook, Common) season is now open. The evening bite on the outgoing tide at Government cut has been productive. The earlier evening has been more active.

OFFSHORE – Fishing has been great this week. We are seeing Sailfish in 100 ft of water out of Key Biscayne. They are preferring live Herring on the Kite. There are plenty of Kingfish (Mackerel, King) out of Government cut in from 100-130 ft of water eating live Pilchards or Drone Spoons.

There hasn’t been huge numbers of any of them yet however there is a steady supply of Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin) turning up from 5-20 lbs. A few Swordfish (Billfish – Swordfish) have been offshore as well. As the weather straightens out the fishing should improve.

OFFSHORE – There is a lot of pressure on the fish this week as everyone is fishing. There are some pelagic fish around. King Mackerel (Mackerel, King) and small Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin) have been caught on the reefs. Catch them on the troll. Wahoo are a bit slow and Mahi (Dolphin) are scarce. The occasional Barracuda (Barracuda, Great) have turned up on the reefs as well Bonito (Bonito, Little Tunny). Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) are scattered. They aren’t hot but they are out there. The wrecks are holding a few nice fish. The tail end of Shallow Water Grouper season is producing some nice fish (Grouper, Scamp & Grouper, Red & Grouper, Red & Grouper, Black). Deep water Grouper (Grouper, Warsaw & Grouper, Snowy) will stay in season. Big Red Snapper (Snapper, Red) are being caught this week as well. They are normally caught to the North, you just can’t keep them. Vermillion (Snapper, Vermillion) are consistent. Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater) and Tilefish (Tilefish, Blueline) are in 300-400 ft. Golden (Tilefish, Golden) are in 600-700 ft.

INSHORE – Hello this is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami, Florida. Fishing has been really good lately. The Dolphin, Snapper, Kingfish and Tuna action has been above average. One our boats got a 42lb Dolphin on light tackle this week. The Snapper and Kingfish have been caught in limits. There are a few Sails around but the fun fish division has been in full swing. We have calm weather the next day or so. Some wind is coming along with the next front but that should only make the Sailfishing better. It’s a great time of year to fish in South Florida. Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – Tarpon are a bit slow into this week. They will pick back up in the Spring. Big Snook (Snook, Common) have been found throughout the inlets and passes. Take advantage before the close! The night bite using live or dead Shrimp has been a bit more productive than during the day. Vudu Swimming Mullet are better in the day. Around the bridges or docks with lights are hot areas to look. We are seeing similar conditions from Fort Lauderdale to Miami. Book your trip with Fishing Headquarters today! PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below for additional tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – The drift boats are doing well during the day on Mangroves and Muttons (Snapper, Gray & Snapper, Mutton). The Mangroves are good sizes. Hog Snapper (Hogfish) minimum size limit just increased so keep that in mind. The afternoon bite is more productive. You can search for Kings (Mackerel, King) in the morning. Drift for them in the mornings and troll later on. Most of them are snake Kings to 5 lbs. Not many are over 12 lbs. Yellowtail (Snapper, Yellowtail) will provide a good night bite. Gags (Grouper, Gag) are rare but the Reds and Blacks (Grouper, Red & Grouper, Black) are doing well. Goliaths (Grouper, Goliath) are all over structure, docks and mouths of the inlets. They can be caught on huge baits on shark rods. Dolphin are small this time of year, mostly schoolies. Some are up to 20 lbs. They are swimming in 100-200 ft of water just outside the reefs. Wahoo were hot around the Super moon. The quantity and quality of fish was fantastic. Anglers are still picking away at them on the troll. Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin) are mostly small to 6 lbs. Drag natural feathers or rip jigs to get them. Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) is the main attraction. December is one of the best months to catch them. The rougher the water, the better they are. As the temperature drops the bite will improve. Go after them using kites. Search 120ft to 180ft in ‘Sailfish Alley’. Fish the blue/green water change from the blue side.

BAIT REPORT – Shrimp can be caught at night.

INSHORE – The fishing has been picking up. Tarpon have been hooked but are famous for shaking the hook. There is a bit of a Snook (Snook, Common) bite around. We don’t have much until they are back to catch and release. Jacks (Jack, Crevalle) and Barracuda (Barracuda, Great) are always biting.

OFFSHORE – East winds are pushing the Mahi (Dolphin) in close. They are in 100-350 ft of water. You don’t have to go far for them. Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin) are doing well too. The sizes are decent, over 30 lbs. Troll the or live bait to hook them on the reef. You can troll popper lures, chuggers and natural feathers or dusters. The best bite is on the deeper planers. One long and one short about 20-30 ft under the surface are getting the most action. A few Sails (Billfish -Sailfish) have been caught on the troll. Once a cold front hits they will light up. The drift boat is doing great for Snapper at night. Yellowtail (Snapper, Yellowtail) are great sizes. Squid, Sardine, Ballyhoo and Silversides are working well chunked. A few Cobia have been caught in the day drifting or at night anchored. The day trips are also hooking a few Kings (Mackerel, King) that are keepers. They have been caught on the troll. We are also catching them on the drift boat while live baiting or throwing dead baits. Fish them mid depth with a lighter sinker. Wahoo will love the tide change coming from the Supermoon this weekend!

BAIT REPORT – Mullet are swimming the canals. They are no longer on the beach. We are at the tail end of the run. You can cast net them. Check out the Supermoon this weekend and see how the tides and bite changes following! PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for more angling tips and tricks!

Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Lately we have had a lot of Sailfish, a lot more than usual for October. We are seeing double digit catches on several days this past week. We have had a lot of North wind from the North East and that has obviously made the bite better. It looks like we are going to have another week or so of hard, Northeast wind and more good Sailfish action. There have also been nice Dolphin up to 15 – 20 lbs on the edge and some Kingfish and Snapper too. It’s been a very good week of fishing and we are looking forward to it only getting better. Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – This week, fishing in Miami has been very good despite having South current which is normally not a good direction for the current to go. We have had strong Northeast winds and everyday better than average numbers of Sailfish. For example, yesterday we caught three Sails, a Mackerel and some Bonito in an afternoon. We have had Sails basically every trip on either a half or full day. There have been some Snapper and, actually, a few Dolphin showing up in the shallower water on the edge of the reefs. Because of the higher winds nobody has really ventured offshore for Dolphin in the deep water but I’m sure that would be decent too. It was right before the wind started and usually the wind makes the bite better. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for more angling tips and tricks! OFFSHORE – In the last week we have had a fair amount of Sailfish bites, mostly on the kite at the edge of the reef. This is typical of the season. Although it’s a little early compared to most years, the numbers have been good. A few days ago we had one boat have 8 Sail bites in one day. So we have seen some pretty good action. There have been a fair amount of Snapper, both Mutton and Vermillion as well as a few Dolphin showing up offshore. The storm has passed and the weather forecast should be less than 20 knots for the weekend. It is a great time to go fishing! PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below for additional tips and tricks! OFFSHORE – Hi this is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami, Florida! We are facing the changes from Summer to Winter, Fall is here! The Swordfishing has been good as it typically gets better at this time of year. We have brought some nice Swords to the boat. One of our crew caught four in two days. There are quite a few Sailfish being caught as well. My last trip, we caught a Wahoo, some Dolphin, Some Kingfish, Cobia, Mutton, a Tuna and several other odds and ends. As you can see we are getting the variety that the transition from one season to another brings. I would expect Dolphin fishing to improve in the coming month. It has been a bit slow the past month but reports that we are hearing are improving. I hope you can get on the water! INSHORE – Snook (Snook, Common) season is open so anglers are chasing slot sizes. The cut has been great. Anglers are throwing Pilchards or live Shrimp. Bonefish and Permit are hitting well to the south. They are running thick in the grass during high tides. Baitmasters of South Florida 305-751-7007 www.baitmasters.com

OFFSHORE – Hello, this is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami Florida. Sailfish continue to dominate the scene. Unbelievably, numbers are as high as 20-30 fish sightings occurring in the upper keys. These numbers are not in Miami however the sailfishing is better than usual for September. There has been a few Dolphin showing up too, more than there were a month ago, unfortunately mostly all or nothing. You’ll either find a piece of debris or you go for miles looking. There are still some Snapper to be caught on the reef and a few Kingfish and Bonito also, so fishing overall is decent. It should only get better in the coming months as Sailfish season is fast approaching, the official one that is. That’s all for now, I hope you can get out on the water! Thanks, Ray. A few Yellowtail and Snapper (Snapper, Yellowtail & Snapper, Gray) at night can be caught while heavy chumming inside the reef from 60-90ft. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – With this system pushing through most of Florida, we expect a lot of wind and tough conditions. Most of the fishing from last week should fire back up once the storm passes. OFFSHORE – Hey, this is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami, Florida. Fishing this week has been a little tough. A few Dolphin have been caught. The bite is a little bit better than it was in the last month but there is still good numbers of Dolphin. The Dolphin we are finding are nicer fish to 12 lbs. This is typical of late summer. Some Swordfish (Billfish – Swordfish) action is heating up. We have caught a few daytime Swordfish along with a few nighttime. The reef is good for Yellowtail (Snapper, Yellowtail), Cubera Snapper (Snapper, Cubera) if you have live Lobsters. Fish around wrecks and upper keys. Southern bay COunty is good too. There are still a few Tarpon and Snook (Snook, Common) biting around the Government cut and a few of the bridges. Our biggest concern right now are the couple of storms brewing in the Atlantic. If they leave us alone fishing should be decent. Hope we can get on the water! PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish listed below the report for more angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – Hello! This is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami, Florida. Dolphin fishing has started to improve which is pretty normal for this time of the year. Sailfishing (Billfish – Sailfish) action is a bit slow this time of the year. In general the Snapper (Snapper, Mutton & Snapper, Vermillion & Snapper, Silk & Snapper, Cubera) fishing makes up for it. OFFSHORE – Hello, this is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami, FL. We are still in that great time of the year when we get Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish), Kingfish (Mackerel, King), Snapper, Grouper, Dolphin, and even some Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin). We’ve been catching quite a few Tunas lately while not only live baiting on the reef, but trolling as well in 500-1200 ft. of water. The fish trolling have averaged 5-15 lbs. The fish that we catch on the kites while live baiting are in the 20-30 pound range. We caught a dolphin a couple of days ago that was approximately 50 pounds while we were swordfishing (Billfish – Swordfish). Swordfishing has been decent lately and we are catching quite a few fish, mostly during the daytime. We still have several weeks of live bait reef fishing and several months of Dolphin fishing ahead of us. It’s a great time of the year to be in south Florida.

INSHORE – There has been a lot of Snook (Snook, Common) and Tarpon around, and the Grouper (Grouper, Gag) fishing was excellent. The Grouper can be found up in the bay anywhere from 6-12 ft. of water, along the inside of the channels. Pinfish are being fished in the area and larger trolling plugs are being used for best results. The Snook can be found along the beachfront and in the inlets. A lot of Pinfish and Mullets have been found to be biting in the inlets.

OFFSHORE – Offshore has slowed down. However, there are a few Tuna (Blackfin, Tuna) around and some Dolphin. In the afternoons, Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) and Kings (Kingfish, Southern) can be found anywhere from 80-150 ft. with Tuna in a similar range around 100-200 ft. deep. For Catching Kings, it seems to be better to catch them with live bait such as Pilchards pitched into a chum line

OFFSHORE – Hi this is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami, Florida. Summer is approaching and we are starting to see some nice schools of Dolphin up to about 20-25 lbs. Today we have caught 30 so far in about 2 hours. Dolphin fishing has been good and today is the first day I’ve seen schools of fish like you would normally see in the summer. Of course we have some good Sailfishing (Billfish – Sailfish) and that should last another month along with some Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin). I would say in another month or so we will be Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin) fishing further east from here and we usually do well into mid June. With that said, Kite fishing and Dolphin fishing are the 2 best things going right now. I hope you can come down and go fishing it’s a really great time of the year! Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – Hello! This is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami, Florida. Fish has slowed down a little bit the last few days. Last there were good numbers of Sailfish, big Kingfish, Tuna, and Dolphin. We started having some south current so that’s why things have slowed. Thursday our boats caught a bunch of Sailfish, Kingfish, Tuna, and Dolphin although not as many as we had been getting last week. I would predict that in the next few days the current should change back to the north and the next 6 weeks will bring awesome fishing conditions for all those species. The wind is also supposed to calm down in the next few days. Thanks, and have a great day! INSHORE – Tarpon are a bit slow still. A lot of Jack (Jack, Crevalle) and some good sized Barracuda (Barracuda, Great) are around. Grouper (Grouper, Goliath) are beginning to show up throughout the intracoastal waterway and are great fun for catch and release anglers

OFFSHORE – Everything is 180-500 ft of water. Mahi Mahi (Dolphin) are the hot bite this week, for anglers covering lots of water. Search the weedlines and under the birds. The sizes are great so far and definitely worth the trip. There are also some Kings (Mackerel, King) on the reef however the Dolphin bite is far better.

OFFSHORE – The King (Mackerel, King) bite is starting on the reef between 90-130. There are some summer Bonita (Bonito, Little Tunny) hanging around. Farther out at 300 ft we are seeing Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin). Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater) are on the wrecks and there are some Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) scattered about too. The weather is looking great for the weekend and we expect the bite to continue.

Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Hello this is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami, Florida. This week the Sailfishing has been red hot. There has been a lot of fish caught on the North wind and Northwest wind. Now our winds are swinging around to the Northeast and the East and I would expect the Sailfishing to stay good. Folks have caught as many as 18 Sailfish in a trip, in a day and the bite has continued on. There is also a mixture of Kingfish and Dolphin being caught at the same time. This is just the beginning of our typical Spring time fishing. Obviously, with the conditions the bite will change but in general if we have good conditions for the next few months we should see some good catches of all three species in addition to Blackfin Tuna. So get down here and take part in it and have a great day fishing! Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – It’s Tarpon season now so anglers are getting geared up for the hot bite. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have been hitting well throughout the inshore this week. We expect to see this bite continue into the weekend.

OFFSHORE – This is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami Florida. The last week has been pretty eventful. We have had quite a few Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) bites as we have fished the Jimmy Johnson Sailfish Tournament. Thirteen fish won it, it was a good tournament. A lot of Tuna, Bluefin were seen during that tournament which is kind of unusual but they were migrating to the South and we hooked one Friday and one Saturday on 20 lb test. They were probably well over 600 lbs so it didn’t last long but it was a lot of fun to watch. They are tremendous bites. We caught 8 fish in the tournament with one of the top lady angler, Allison, a Pro Staffer. There was also a 47 lb Kingfish (Mackerel, King) and quite a few miscellaneous bites. There were quite a few Bonito (Bonito, Little Tunny), Tuna (Tuna, Bluefin), and a few Dolphin. We have been Sailfishing as well and found a few bites. We caught one fish that was either a big Tuna, Yellowfin or Wahoo and we fought it for almost 20-30 minutes but we had to cut the leader on it. You never know what is going to bite this time of the year which is the neat thing about South Florida in the Springtime All kinds of pelagic fish swim by at certain times of the month. Hope you can get out and go fishing, weather has been great and we hope it stays that way. Have a great day!

OFFSHORE – Hey! This is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami. Earlier this week we had a good catch of Cobia, conditions led to good water clarity and the Cobia this time of the year will follow Stingray, Southern. We found about 20 Cobias last outing and a lot of big Rays. Lots of fun. There are a few Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) around as well as a few Dolphin and Kingfish (Mackerel, King) too. The wind is is going to put things off for a few days. OFFSHORE – This is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami, Florida. Fishing this week has been very good for Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish). We actually caught a White Marlin (Billfish – Marlin, White), Dolphin , and a few Kingfish (Mackerel, King) and a few Snappers (Snapper, Gray) on the bottom. It’s been good fishing over all as we have had real calm weather. We do have some weather coming in a few days and it should blow through the weekend. Outside of that it’s been great fishing weather. Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Hello this is Ray Rosher from Miami Florida, Miss Britt Charters. Sailfishing (Billfish – Sailfish) has actually been good the last week or so in Miami. The recent tournament called Sailfish Challenge was fished out of three inlets, Palm beach, Hillsborough and Miami. A boat out of the Miami inlet caught 18 Sails in two days and numbers went down from there for the other boats. Fishing was really good in Miami which is pretty unusual in conditions like this from Miami up to Palm beach. It has a bit of late season fish come down. I was surprised to see that but it was good. The charters have been catching a lot of Sails and there have been a lot of big Grouper, Red and Snapper, Red in the last week. We actually hooked a Tuna, Yellowfin, in the tournament last week. There are still a few Dolphin around, up to 30 lbs. It’s still a good mixed bag of fish. The weather should get a little more stable now that the cold fronts are slowing down a bit. There should be a nice Northwest wind the next couple days. Whether you fish with us or someone else I hope you are out on the water and have a great trip! INSHORE – There have been some Mackerel, Spanish caught close to shore this week. Clark spoons and tiny live baits. There have not been a whole lot of other fish biting otherwise however anglers looking to target some alternatives can check our Fish Guide full of tons of tips and tricks to keep your line tight.

OFFSHORE – There have been reports of Tuna, Skipjack along with some Dolphin swimming the offshore this week. Anglers can troll live bait to hook them. There are also some Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater) turning up on the wrecks this week. Anglers will have to deep drop for them. We expect this bite to continue into the weekend.

Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – Well the winter weather continues we’ve just been hit by another hard cold front and had a couple nasty days with 30 plus mph winds. Today things got nice but it was a cold morning though beautiful and sunny right now this afternoon. Things look to stay on the chilly side with lows in the mid 50s through until the weekend. Fishing has been pretty good still overall however. Capt. Mike Venezia has had some decent action in the everglades with drums and Snooks (Snook, Common). It hasn’t been the red hot bite that we had on the right days in January, but more of a pick of fish and sometimes you get in a good spot that may hold several. Though still lots of fun and Capt. Mike has been adventuring into some very creeks that not many have travelled into! He also had a good day a week ago fishing the patches catching some dinner and they caught some nice Blacktips (Shark, Blacktip) plus a Bonefish to start it off in the morning. Capt. Jim Willcox has been plugging away deep in the everglades at Redfish (Drum, Red) and Snook. Though some of the deeper areas have not been consistent as there has been some nasty water so you really have to work at it some days to find fish. I went out with Capt. Bill Basset Saturday and it was not easy fishing either we caught a few nice Reds and it was hard work. Though that was the day of the swamp guides ball and many reported that fishing was not easy. Though Capt. Bill reported a nice day this morning fishing the patches and catching plenty for dinner Snappers (Snapper, Mutton), Porgy, etc. as did Capt. Chris Daly. Capt. Vic Gaspeny had a mix of Snappers and got a couple keeper Hogfish this morning too. I myself last week had some good action in the gulf we caught plenty of Mackerels (Mackerel, Spanish) on several different days. Capt. Mike Bassett also had some good Mackerel days alongside me. There were also some jumbo Snapper, Gray on one wreck we were catching on Pinfish, nice 15-18 inch fish real drag pullers! We had great Tripletail fishing too, not a lot of large ones but lots of them and caught probably 10 or more each day we went. One day we also caught two nice size Grouper, Goliath up to 150 lbs, and a big old Shark, Tiger that was over 300 lbs! It was pretty incredible on the lighter spinning rods we use for smaller 30-80 lb Tarpon. I myself am going out of town for a week or so but as I said we look to stay in the winter mode for another week or so. Tarpon fishing will probably have to wait until it gets consistently warm which may not happen for a few more weeks we will see, but there are plenty of other things to do as you can see. Give us a call if you are in the area fishing is plenty good and there are lots of things to catch!

OFFSHORE – Hello this is Ray Rosher with Miss Britt Charters. Lately there have been a fair amount of Sails (Billfish – Sailfish). Last weekend was the sailfish 400 tournament which resulted with the top boat having 11 Sails and going down from there. We had 10 Sailfish bites in two days. The action is pretty decent. There is a fair amount of Dolphin on the edge today. Today we caught one Dolphin and a bunch of bottom fish including Snapper (Snapper, Mutton Snapper Vermillion, Snapper, Yellowtail) and Porgy. The other boat caught Dolphin as well and Bonito, Little Tunny. Again Sails have been steady. Last night we Swordfishe (Billfish – Swordfish). Those boats caught one sword on our 26 ft boat. We caught an Escolar on the 43 ft boat which is pretty rare. That’s pretty much it. Conditions are nice however the weather will be a bit windy this weekend but the fishing will be good if you can endure the wind. Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – Hello this is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters in Miami. This past week has been incredibly good for Mahi (Dolphin). We had a slow down for about a month where we saw very few and within the last few days we’ve seen more schoolies than we have in a while. The fish have been averaging 4-10 lbs with the occasional larger fish. Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) also picked up recently with one boat having over 20 bites in a day out of Miami. For the last week or so we had green water stopped current until just recently the current turned around and went to the North as it normally does. This is prime time for Cobia if we can just get some calm weather. We sight fish in the shallows off the coast. A few Kings (Mackerel, King) are around as well. Bait fishing has been good and the live bait opportunities have been good as a result. Hope you can get out there and go fishing whether with us or someone else! Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are still in the backcountry this week which is great as it provides a bit of shelter from the weather conditions. Shrimp and similar artificials are still the best bet to hook them. The sizes are great so far and most of them are keepers. With the cooler weather they are beginning to school up so the bite is slightly easier to find if you can get out. We hope to see the weather settle down for the weekend.

OFFSHORE – Things have not changed much from last week. The wind is still extremely harsh so a lot of anglers have stayed off the water. Despite this there are still quite a few fish swimming. Kings (Mackerel, King), Wahoo and Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) are all swimming in 200-600 ft. Free lining dead baits or live baits are both successful this week as well as Kite fishing. The Snapper, Yellowtail bite has slowed down however we suspect they are still out there with the Snapper, Mutton and Snapper, Gray, although difficult to catch with the weather conditions.

BAIT REPORT – There are still Herring and Pilchards running for anglers who can brave the weather conditions to get out on the water. Captain Bad will provide 10% off Power Pro if you mention Pro Angler Fishing App!

Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Hello this is Ray Rosher from Miss Britt Charters, Miami, Florida. We’ve dealt with a little bit of wind and rain this week but it looks like things are clearing up a little. We do have a couple of windy days coming up in the next seven but Sailfishing (Billfish – Sailfish) is generally a little better when it’s windy. We are seeing an average of 1-5 Sails a day and some bottom fish including a few Snappers (Snapper, Yellowtail) and Tilefish are open now so we are able to catch some Golden Tiles (Tilefish, Great Northern). There are a few Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater) on the wrecks so there is a decent variety of fish. We are getting the occasional Mahi (Dolphin) and a few Tuna, Blackfin showing up too. There are not a lot of any of the species of fish however Sailfishing is probably the highlight but it’s been good charter fishing and we’ve had enough variety every day that at the end of the day you have a nice catch and mixture of fish. It’s a great time of the year to fish whether on our boat or another, I hope you can get out there, enjoy it and have a good day! Hot lures for offshore fish this week are at R & R Tackle. Mahi Magnets and Wahoo Magnets are the two main lures. Check them out in store or online at www.randrtackle.com.

Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Hi! This is Ray Rosher from Miami, Florida and Miss Britt Charters. Sail fishing (Billfish – Sailfish) continues to be good. Early this week had three Sails and big Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin) over 30 lbs with a variety of other fish – Mackerel, King, Bonito, Little Tunny and so on. Conditions have been really good with a lot of blue water and North current the things we look for. With the upcoming calm water periods we get between the cold fronts, Cobia fishing will be a big factor. We sightfish those in about 20 ft of water on Stingrays. Also as of Jan 1 we get a lot of fisheries that open up and quotas that open up so there are a variety of bottom fish that are now available to be caught. The only things we are not allowed to catch now are Groupers (Grouper, Gag & Grouper, Red & Grouper, Scamp) a lot of the main types of groupers that we fish for have a several month closure starting Jan. 1 but we gained a lot of other fisheries there. It’s a good time to go fishing, a good variety of fish and it doesn’t look like crazy weather, looks like there should be a lot of good fishing days coming. That’s all I’ve got! Hope you can get out and fish whether it’s with us or someone else. INSHORE – There is a lot of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) in the bay along with some Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) on the reefs. Since the water has not cooled down a whole lot yet the sizes are not great but the bite is good.

OFFSHORE – There have been some Pompano, Africa turning up this week. The King (Mackerel, King) bite has become a bit scattered. Anglers are also seeing Mackerel, Cero turn up as well. A bit farther out there is a decent Sail (Billfish – Sailfish) bite however it is not as hot as it has been. They are swimming in roughly 100-200 ft.

BAIT REPORT – Threadfins are running this week along with some Goggle Eyes which are being caught best in the evening. Stop in and check out Crook & Crook Marine’s New Year’s Specials!

OFFSHORE – Fishing was very good today had 4 out of 5 Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish), quite a few bottom fish (Snapper, Yellowtail & Grouper, Gag), some Kingfish (Mackerel, King) on the reef and I heard several boats had similar reports. I’d say it has been very good lately especially for December. It’s kind of a little early for the Sail fishing but I hope that a sign of things to come. INSHORE – This week we had very good Sailfishing (Billfish – Sailfish) and Mahi (Dolphin) fishing still. Unusually good Mahi for this time of year and some decent bottom fishing. Our last trip, a 3/4 day, had 8 Mahi up 16-18lbs. We also had a couple Tunas, a couple Mackerel, 2 Sailfish bites, and a good variety of fish off the bottom. It looks like we’re breaking out of this bad weather pattern of high winds and rain. Hope you guys can get out on the water whether it’s with me or someone else. Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – Snapper, Gray and Snapper, Yellowtail have been hitting in roughly 100 ft of water. They have been coming in decent sizes biting live bait. There have also been Tarpon reported from the backside as the water has not cooled down enough for them to move out at this point. This bite is expected to continue over the weekend depending on weather conditions.

OFFSHORE – The wind has still been pretty nasty in this area however some anglers were determined to get out this week. There have been some reports of Dolphin in roughly 400-500 ft. on the regular bait like Ballyhoo or similar artificials. Anglers have also seen a few Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) beginning to bite as well. There is a tournament this weekend so boaters are hoping the numbers will pick up by then, however rainy conditions may deter some anglers from heading out.

BAIT REPORT – There have been plenty of bait running the shallows this week. Angler can find Pilchards and Pinfish swimming in solid numbers.

Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Sailfishing (Billfish – Sailfish) has been phenomenal. We have had high winds, but a lot of bait in the area. We use primarily Herring, Bluerunners, Goggle Eyes, Ballyhoo, any form of live bait on the reef generally works for Sailfish, Mahi (Dolphin), Kingfish (Mackerel, King), and Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin) on the edge this time of the year. One boat this week posted 31 Sailfish releases. Exceptional numbers, we are really seeing those type of numbers but it is not abnormal for this time of the year for the next 5 months to have days with between 1-6 Sailfish a trip. There is quite a few Mahi every time we have calm weather or a little bit of east wind we have decent catches of Mahi. We have had Mahi almost every trip with enough for a few meals and in general the challenge this time of the year is just watching the weather. The Sailfishing can be real good when we have high winds but generally somewhere in that 10-15 knot category is what works best. Calm weather is better for the Mahi and also Cobia. They should start up any week now where we sight fish in calm weather out of our Tuna towers. So basically it’s a great time of the year to fish and I hope you can make it down here. We have three boats at bayshore marina in miami and we would love to take you fishing. Have a great day! Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – Permit are doing well in the shallow water for anglers throwing live Crab and Shrimp. Bonefish are also swimming along with some Snook, Common along the beach. Bucktails are working well or alternatively jigs tipped with Shrimp. The bay is full of Mackerel, Spanish as well as the shallows up to 40-50 ft of water. Anglers are using clark spoons to get their attention.

OFFSHORE – The reef has been full of fish in the past week. Kings (Mackerel, King) have been absolutely on fire out here in good sizes. Dolphin have shown up as well in roughly 60 ft of water on the reef from shallow to the 52 line. There have also been some Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) starting to bite in the same spots. Most anglers are kite fishing to catch all three of these as they swarm the running bait. Pilchards, large Herring and Sardines are all mixed in with the big fish. Even some Mullet have shown up. Small Tuna, Blackfin are swimming however most anglers are waiting to see some bigger sizes to start focusing on them.

BAIT REPORT – Pilchards, Sardines, Herring and Mullet are all swimming in the offshore and inshore and working as a fantastic bait. Anglers targeting Sailfish should stop into Crook & Crook Marine to stock up on all the Sailfish tackle and kites you might need!

Miami / Biscayne Bay

INSHORE – Along the beaches our sources continue to see Snook, Common that are chasing any live bait swimming. Alternatively anglers can throw anything that looks like a Mullet and should have pretty good results with them.

OFFSHORE – The Mackerel, King bite has been great anywhere from the cut to the main channel from Miami, roughly 60 – 120 ft depending on the wind. They have been coming up in various sizes however live bait is essential for the catch. They won’t hit anything else lately. Dolphin are becoming very spotty however they are still around. The Billfish – Sailfish bite has been increasing despite the hot weather. With the upcoming cooler front expected to move in by the weekend anglers should see even more Sails hitting around 200 ft in better sizes.

BAIT REPORT – Anglers who decide to catch their own bait can head out in the early morning on the bay looking for grass patches. There they will find loads of Pilchards that can be used as inshore bait. Catch a nice King Mackerel? Send El Capitan your pictures and you could win a sweet prize! Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – On the back side and along the beaches Tarpon and Snook, Common are chasing Live Mullet or any artificial that looks like a Mullet. They are becoming scattered however if you manage to get some live bait they seem to be hitting it.

OFFSHORE – Around 175-200 ft. there is a decent Billfish – Sailfish bite if anglers are kite fishing. If kite fishing is not your first preference our sources suggest running flatlines very far away from the boat for great results as well. The bottom is absolutely on fire right now. Anglers are catching Grouper, Red and some big Snapper, Yellowtail. There are some Sea Bass, Black however anglers suggest bringing some hefty gear for these to assure you are not pulled into rocks. Kingfish are there, but they are pretty snakey at this time. If you are throwing live Herring or Ballyhoo along the bottom you are likely sure to catch one of these species.

BAIT REPORT – This area is hitting the end of their Mullet run at this time. They are working well inshore but are beginning to become spotty.

Biscayne Bay / Miami Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – The Dolphin and Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) bite has picked up quite a bit at the 600-700 ft mark. It is always a challenge to keep track of specific locations since Dolphin like to move around, especially considering the currents and wind lately. With that in mind, the North wind and Southeast current are moving fish inwards so you may not have to head out as far for your big catch this weekend.

INSHORE – There are lots of Snook (Snook, Common) that can be found by the bridges in addition to a few Snapper (Snapper, Mutton & Snapper, Gray & Snapper, Cubera) still swimming. The best chance to hook one of these is on the changing tide. In regards to live bait, Pilchards are working well. Anglers continue to see a few Kingfish (Mackerel, King) still remaining inshore but they have become fairly spotty and a challenging catch as of recently.

BAIT REPORT – Pilchard and Herring are still plentiful in the bay so you should have no trouble catching these for bait. For suggestions on what to use you can always check out our Tips feature which provides information and recommendations for the fish of your choice.

Biscayne Bay / Miami Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – With the recent wind conditions fishing has been challenging however this hasn’t stopped the fish from biting. At the 50 mile line you can expect lots of Dolphin. They have been on fire until the wind picked up so once it settles you can expect similar a similar Dolphin bite. That’s not the only hungry fish in the water. We’ve also receiving reports of Swordfish turning up offshore but they have been hit or miss, especially with the recent sea conditions.

INSHORE – The reef is host to lots of different options for the inshore angler. Spanish Mackerel along with some Tarpon, Jacks and of course Snook all hitting Live or Frozen Mullet along with anything similar artificial.

BAIT REPORT – Mullet are beginning to make a grand entrance. They’re coming in strong and should not be difficult to get your hands on.

Biscayne Bay / Miami Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – The fishing here has been pretty red hot for Dolphin in about 1200 feet of water. Lots of nice weedlines out there. Brighter colors have been working well for skirting. There’s still some guys preferring to troll naked Ballyhoo, but the Orange / Green has been pretty good. There’s some Wahoo and Blackfin Tuna being caught while fishing for Dolphin. There’s so many Dolphin, however, that you couldn’t really say you’re Wahoo or Tuna fishing when most of what you’re going to see is Dolphin. Anglers are still catching a few Mangrove Snapper and some Yellowtail Snapper on the reefs in about 100 feet of water on live baits while bottom fishing.

Biscayne Bay / Miami Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – The drift fishing over holes for Snapper, and Grouper with the tide and a little chum is a fail safe way to catch a lot of fish right now. Use regular chum, and live shrimp on a little jig head, and when you feel that twitch, yank your rod with both hands right over your head. Like you are yanking them out of the water. Bam! You got a fish!

INSHORE – Fishing is great right now, and Dade corners sold out on Shiners! The freshwater is really good right now, arguably better than the saltwater. Tony has been hearing that the bass fishing is awesome, and while it is really hot the fish still need to eat and they are everywhere. In the backcountry the main fish being caught is Snapper.

BAIT REPORT – There has not been a lot of bait around.

Dade Corners sells Shiners, Wrigglers, Worms, and Night Crawlers they are open 24 hours a day and they do both Freshwater and Saltwater fishing.

Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

INSHORE – Drift fishing holes with 10 inch rapalas is doing very well and drift fishing shrimp on incoming tide. Grouper are really receptive to the drift fishing right now. There’s quite a few snook running around Key Biscayne and the lighthouse. There’s been good reports of Snook on surrounding beaches as well. Several species have been slamming Shrimp when rigged on a light coloured jighead.

Miami Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Eddie over at El Capitan Sports Center was telling me that he is seeing Dolphin out around 1000 feet. As usual they are taking Ballyhoo. There are lots of Schoolies out there, but there are some Gaffers too so don’t get discouraged. The bite for them, in general, is off and on. There has been virtually no reports coming in from the guys who went bottom fishing. What Eddie has heard is that there was a couple of nice Kingfish and Snapper. The Kings are not common this time of year because of the heat, but that doesn’t seem to have deterred them this year. The Snapper that is being caught is in 70-90 feet off the reef down south near Ocean Reef.

INSHORE – The inshore heat is slowing the fishing down. According to El Capitan’s inhouse captain (Captain Moe), the south bay Bonefishing is scattered. He speculates this is because the tides have changed a lot recently. The Snapper are strong inshore, however, and you want to look for them around structure.

BAIT REPORT – Live bait is very hard to get right now because it is so hot. If you are deadset on catching your own bait you will need to go really early in the morning and have a few good spots keyed into your GPS.

El Capitan’s has a good collection of Pelagic Sunglasses that are 40% off right now, and they got a new line of Olukai sandals and boat shoes, so check them out.

Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – There are a few scattered Dolphin and small Tuna around. There are plenty of weeds out there, but they are way out. The Dolphin absolutely love the weeds. The key to catching them is ballyhoo, of course, or something blue and white. If you catch one, leave it in the water. Dolphin are a social fish and more Dolphin will come to see what the one you have hooked is doing, and you should be able to easily pitch some more bait out to them.

INSHORE – There are Bonefish on the flats down south around Biscayne Bay. If you are going to fish down there it is really important that you play the tides. The second most important thing is that you take live bait, small sardines if you can. If you prefer to go artificial then go with your luckiest Rapala Lure.

BAIT REPORT – Bait fish early in the morning on the flats and grass south of Cape Florida, bring your Sabiki or cast net.

Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Bottom fishing and reef fishing this time of year is tougher than trolling, but that doesn’t mean it is impossible. Most anglers are opting to hit the Dolphin and Tuna by trolling offshore in the afternoon. You are going to want to bring your usual trolling kit; Ballyhoo, cedar plugs, etc. If you are going artificial or skirting your bait, white and blue works well but I have heard rumours of big Dolphin taking orange and black. The Dolphin is good in 600 feet of water, but keep your eyes open for schools and weedlines. On the bottom you are going to find the Yellowtail and Mutton Snapper, try dropping some cut bait for them. Failing that go with squid.

INSHORE – Inshore is a mixed bag right now, with a whole lot of nothing mixed in. It has been slow lately, and the offshore fishing has been better. It is a mixed bag, and there are some small blowfish.

BAIT REPORT – Inshore fishing is tough right now because the bait is offshore.

Miami Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Our friends over at Kendall Bait & Tackle have been seeing Dolphin in a huge range. Anywhere from 300 – 2000 feet people have been trolling for them and hitting them. You are going to want to troll Ballyhoo and lures. Specifically pink, green and yellow, blue and green, and purple and black. The key to finding these fish however, is in observing the sky and water. Keep your eyes out for the birds and weedlines because that will point you in the right direction. The bottom fishing is good at night right now. The Mangrove Snapper seem to be biting strongly, drop cut bait or squid for them.

INSHORE – Most people opt to go to Flamingo for the inshore stuff, however, there was a Snook caught on Sunday just north of Biscayne Bay. The Permit and Bonefishing are also good this time of year. Shrimp work well for both of them, but Permit have a weak spot for little Crabs. There are resident Tarpon around, so keep your eyes peeled.

BAIT REPORT – Plenty of bait around, lots of Pinfish specifically. If you opt to catch your own bait it shouldn’t be too hard if you aren’t picky. If you want specifically, say, Cigar Minnows, there aren’t many of those around, but you could probably hustle up a few if you really wanted.

Miami Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Ray over at Baitmasters of South Florida has been seeing an awesome offshore bite right now. There is lots of Dolphin, little Blackfin Tuna, and Sailfish. Some guys are trolling dead bait, some are trolling live bait and kite fishing; it really depends on the conditions where you are and what fish you are targeting. You want to go out to the edge of the Gulf Stream and you can tell you are on top of it when the water changes colour. Right now it is about a mile out. There is a good current over top of the reef and the fishing there is good but the full moon is coming so the bite could turn off like it has the last few full moons.

INSHORE – Brian at Crook & Crook Marine is starting to see the Tarpon bite slow down. There is still a good number of Permit out there. The flats are proving really productive for the Trout, try fishing the flats North of Watson Island or South towards Key Biscayne. The flats towards Key Biscayne are home to some Tarpon, Jacks, and Blue Runners as well. Shrimp is the go to bait for all of these inshore fish, but if you are going to go artificial you want a Berkley Gulp Shrimp in either new penny or pearl white.

BAIT REPORT – Pinfish and Ballyhoo are all over the reef and make great bait whether you are bottom fishing or trolling respectively.

Biscayne Bay / Miami Fishing Report

OFFSHORE: Offshore you’re going to want to look for some deep holes. Try drifting over some deep holes. There are some Yellowtail and Snapper as well as Grouper. To catch these fish you’ll want to chum up the water to get the bait fish going and then drop your lines down.

INSHORE:  Inshore you’ll want to fish around the bridges. There you’ll find some good sized Grouper. There are also a lot of Bass out there which are biting well on Shiners.

BAIT: There is not a lot of bait out there.

Biscayne Bay / Miami Fishing Report

OFFSHORE- Captain Kevin Pagan of Deep Sea Fishing- Jumanji Charters have been busy the last week trolling southwards and hammering Dolphin and Black Fin Tuna off live bait.

Dolphin in particular can’t turn down a simple Red Fin and hook combination.

In terms of location, one doesn’t need to venture more than a dozen miles out to find weed lines that are holding fish and whatever live bait you can throw at them usually works.

High tide tends to be the best time to find active fish that are looking to feed.

INSHORE- While not busy this time of year with inshore fishing, Captain Kevin said juvenile tarpon are hanging around jettys and can be enticed to hit lures. Remember, once hooked, tarpon like to throw lures and single hooks are usually best.

Biscayne Bay

INSHORE- Tarpon and trout are biting in the Biscayne Bay and hungry fish are looking for anything looking like a shrimp. Smart anglers will want to ‘match the hatch’ look at throwing either live presentations or using some of DOA’s realistic looking soft body shrimp lures. New penny color schemes are always a wise choice

Miami / Biscayne Bay Fishing Report
OFFSHORE – EVERYTHING is hot right now. If you’re into trolling you can look forward to catching Dolphin, Wahoo and Blackfin Tuna. You’ll find them biting well on Ballyhoo or Flying Fish when trolled slowly. If bottom fishing is more your style Cobia and Snapper are good and the Mangroves are starting to spawn. These fish are hitting well on live Thread Herring and Sardines.

INSHORE – Inshore you’ll find a good bite on Tarpon and Permit. Most of the Shrimp that are around are small right now so go for Crab if you can. Some Crab looking artificials are working but nothing compares to the live stuff. Fishing in this area is best on the outgoing tide. You’ll find a ton of Tarpon all over Government Cut (inc tide) or by Key Biscayne. The Tarpon also tend to bite best in the morning when they are more aggressive.

BAIT REPORT – Bait is a little hard to find right now but if you’re feeling lucky try Government Cut in by the ferry dock, or go to Haulover Inlet.
