Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – As usual, the Trout are the hot topic in the area. Anglers aren’t having any trouble finding or hooking them so far. Live bait is your best bet to hook them, although Gulp in New Penny is a solid alternative. They are beginning to push deeper with the unfavorable weather however we expect them to move back in once conditions settle down. The Reds on the other hand haven’t been as affected. They are swimming shallow shorelines and also preferring live bait. The dirty water doesn’t seem to bother them, so your usual spots should still produce. The occasional Tripletail are hanging out on the buoys along with scattered Flounder, Sea Bass and Sheepshead on structure.
OFFSHORE – Things are about par with the season in the area. Kings are just beginning to make an appearance but to see decent numbers you will have to be prepared to spend some time on the water. Cobia have also been caught as they begin their move in. They are up to 60 pounds. Anglers are targeting them with bucktail jigs, jerkbaits or swimbaits. Spanish seem to be following them in depths of 15-19 feet of water. Grouper are open, but seem to be a bit limited.

INSHORE – Ladyfish are moving onto the flats and the Spanish will follow. Sharks are showing up. Redfish (Drum, Red) and Trout continue to do well. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are moving out as the water temperature increases, 2.5 to 4.5 feet are key depths. Reds are still shallow. Pink Shine or Sugar Spice Glow have been producing well. New Penny Shrimp is also a good choice. Bronze/Gold Bait balls in medium depths have been great for Trout. The Topwater bite is a bit slower. This should turn on when the bait pods move in and the temperatures rise.
OFFSHORE – Sheepshead can be found nearshore in 20-40 feet of water. Cobia have finally been sighted and caught this week. They are short however the warmer water is bringing them in. Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) are beginning to arrive so Kings (Mackerel, King) shouldn’t be far behind.

INSHORE – The typical Winter fish continue to be the targets in this area as of late. Redfish, Flounder, Sheepshead and Trout are all being caught into this week. Redfish can be found in and around bushes and mangroves while the Trout seem to be mixing with Sheepshead around structure. If you are targeting Flounder, head to the piers for some of the best bite.

Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – Everything seems to be right on schedule for this time of year. Sheepshead are providing the most action for anglers into this week. You can find them nearshore, and as far out as 40 feet of water as well as inshore and as close as the grass flats in Cedar Key. Typical setups of live bait will consistently work well to hook them.
Redfish and Trout are doing their best to stay in warm water. Redfish are holding up shallow and very lethargic but don’t seem to be too picky on what they are taking. New Penny Shrimp or a Gulp in Pink Shine drifted right in front of their face is the best bet. Trout are similarly swimming grass flats in shallow water as well. Mouths of creeks are particularly a good place to begin your search in the morning during low tide.

INSHORE – Typical seasonal fish are the main catches so far. Redfish and Trout are fishing shallow this week throughout the inshore. You can easily stay within 2 feet of water, especially in the Steinhatchee area. Targeting Trout has been productive during high tide in the river systems. Cobia and Spanish are beginning to move back in which is promising for a steady Spring bite. Flounder are providing a good bite as well this week. If you are fishing Shrimp or Berkley Gulp you are likely to hit some good sizes. Unsurprisingly Sheepshead continue to hold up on structure throughout the rivers.

OFFSHORE – Steinhatchee is definitely providing the best bite for anglers this week. They seem to have the most productive weather windows when anglers can find calm times to hit the water. Kingfish are showing up along with a closer bite of Sheepshead in 30 feet of water. On the bottom we are also seeing Amberjack. Towards Cedar Key the Spanish have begun their Spring run and anglers are eager to see them fire up for the season.

INSHORE – Redfish and Trout have been fishing well on grassy flats in the morning or incoming tide. The Redfish have really been coming out of the creeks taking Shrimp, Minnows or gulp on jig heads. Livetarget scaled Sardines in Ghost Amber color has been working well to hook them. Trolling lures such as gold/orange threadfins or Rapala X Raps in a subsurface Walker with a single hook are working well too. Whitebait will work well as the temperature creeps up. Lighter colors such as white or pink are also key to catching them.

OFFSHORE – There aren’t a lot of species open to harvest but you can find a decent mix of bottom fishing. Sheepshead have continued to bite on the nearshore reefs and wrecks. As you head further offshore you will start to find some Sea Bass and some catch and release Grouper and Snapper. The Amberjack bite has been the focus of most offshore trips, you’ll just have to head past 60 feet of water for decent fish.

INSHORE – Things are a bit quiet this week. Unsurprisingly the Trout are providing the most consistent bite from Cedar Key to Apalachee Bay. The numbers are decent although haven’t fired up quite yet. Towards Suwanee a majority of the fish are catch and release with a handful of slot sizes mixed in. Towards Apalachee Bay we are seeing a better mix. Fish in shallow to find them using artificials such as Pink Shine Gulp or Strike First Golden Brim.
Sheepshead are providing scattered action on structure this week. Shallow rocks are also holding Tautog and Grunts.
Redfish are transitioning into their Spring patterns this week as they move to oyster bars, mouths of the rivers, tidal creeks and shorelines. Artificials are working well to hook them. Head out in the late morning or early afternoon for the best bite. If you decide to mix things up and head a bit farther off the shore don’t be surprised to run into a few Flounder and Black Sea Bass.

Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – From Cedar Key to Steinhatchee Redfish have been tucked into very shallow water. Any of the boats that draft more water, have had to wait for high tide to get into the Redfish. Reports from Apalachee Bay haven’t been very promising for Redfish. Trout fishing across big bend has been decent with most anglers finding better fish on grass flats and oyster bars. If you happen to find some inshore rock piles there will also be a decent Sheepshead bite there as well.
OFFSHORE – Sea Bass and Amberjack are the big legal catches this week. Throughout the week the various Captains we spoke with were all in agreement that 50 ft and out has been providing the best bite for both fish. Anyone wanting to fish for offshore Sheepshead will only have to travel to 40 ft of water for the good sizes. Some King Mackerel have been caught in 60 ft of water while trolling Cigar Minnows.

INSHORE – Redfish (Drum, Red) and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are doing well as of late. Redfish are up against the grass into 2.5 ft. Anywhere where there is sand mixed with grass, rocks or oysters is a good place to begin. Rapala X Raps in the olive color subwalk pattern has been productive. Trout are taking these lures as well. Trout are pushing out a bit to stay in the saltier water and avoiding the brackish water. You can find them moving out of the creeks to 3-4.5 ft. There hasn’t been many other fish biting but there were some Floudner (Flounder, Southern) here and there. There is still room to register for the Upcoming Fiddler Crab Tournament on February 18 will have a $25 entry fee per person and includes largest fish for several species. There is a mandatory Captains meeting on the 17th at 5:30. See store for more details! Scallop season opens June 16 through September! See your local regulations for details! Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – Prior to the storm the Trout and Redfish were on fire. Anglers were getting limits. The storm has scattered them but they can still be caught. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have been pushed out in deeper water with the fresh water draining in. Fish up to 5 ft. The water temperatures are expected to drop soon so they could be anywhere from 2-5 ft. Reds (Drum, Red) are still in the shallow areas from the grass lines to the points at the mouth of the creek to 3 ft of water. They are mostly keepers at this point but nothing huge yet. 2.5 ft of water with Pink Shine Gulp has been key. Brighter colors such as Chartreuse and Neon may be more productive. INSHORE – Trout and Redfish have been on fire this week. Everyone is catching limits. We are seeing some good sizes come in as well. Redfish (Drum, Red) are still swimming in shallow to 3 ft of water. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are in a warmer weather stage. Find them from 3-5 ft. Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – South of Steinhatchee, lots of Reds (Drum, Red) and Trout have been caught this week. Live Target silver Mullet plugs are working well to hook them. Gulp is also productive in the Pink Shine color. Small Pinfish are hooking big Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) in closer. 2 ft of water has produced a lot of fish. Black Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black) and Bull Reds are swimming the nearshore structure. They are putting up a good fight on the Steinhatchee reef in particular. OFFSHORE – Grouper (Grouper, Gag & Grouper, Red) are turning up with close limits of Snapper (Snapper, Gray & Snapper, Vermillion). Keep in mind Gags are closed but limits of Reds are more than possible. Anglers are trolling with purple or red/orange Stretch 30s. Red and white is usually a go-to color as well. Most of the fish have been caught in 50-60ft. Snapper are taking Squid or Shrimp. You need to get your bait to the bottom before the Red Snapper (Snapper, Red) take it. Vermillion are in 60 ft or more, especially since the water is warm.

INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) are picking up fairly quickly. They are in the creeks and shallow flats still. New Penny, Pink Shine, Chartreuse in MR 18 MirrOlures are working best. Gold/Black Topwaters are also productive. Shorts and keepers are turning up. Anglers are getting their limits if they put time in. Schools of Redfish in good numbers have been reported in 13 ft of water for anglers fishing live bottom. They were picky about when to bite however. Thanks for another great year anglers! Pro Angler is looking forward to seeing all of your great catches in 2017!
OFFSHORE – A few anglers are heading offshore to search for Grouper (Grouper, Gag), Grunt (Grunt, White) and a few Snapper (Snapper, Gray).

INSHORE – The fishing has been really good inshore. Redfish (Drum, Red) are on fire this week. A lot of nice sized Reds have been coming in. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are mixed in with plenty of keepers turning up. Numbers of these fish are great as well. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are starting to pick up as they move into the rivers and creeks. Sheepshead will pick up soon as they are moving in a little closer. INSHORE – The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) bite has slowed down a bit with the varying temperatures. Colder weather brings them shallower and warmer weather sends them out so they are moving in and out of the creeks and shallow flats. Fish the potholes to find them. Redfish (Drum, Red) are shallow this week. They are holding up on the flats around the points. Fish the pockets, the same as the Trout. In the creeks they are swimming the oyster bars. The Sheepshead bite has slowed down. Anglers are throwing gold/black Rapala Skitterwalks for Redfish. Pink shine or pearl white 3 inch Shrimp slow hopped along the bottom in the deeper holes and pockets is also producing. Cut bait and live shrimp are great alternatives in the creeks. OFFSHORE – There are a few anglers heading offshore to target Grouper (Grouper, Black & Grouper, Red). You can find them between 40-80 ft. Pink Mouth Grunt and Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black) can be caught from 35-40 ft. The water temperature is beginning to pick back up a bit.

INSHORE – The fish are shallow into this week. The creeks are holding tons of Redfish (Drum, Red). There aren’t a whole lot of big sizes. Most are from 16 – 23 inches. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are mostly keepers to almost 24 inches. Trout and Redfish are feeding on the Mullet. Ladyfish are mixed in. Sugar Spice Glow 5 inch Jerkshad or 3 inch New Penny Shrimp slowly bounced on the bottom are working well to hook them. Redfish are also swimming the shallow flats around the mouths of creeks up against the grass. They are in pairs for the most part. 17MR and 18 BG are working well for oversized Reds. OFFSHORE – Anglers are hooking Grouper (Grouper, Gag) offshore as they move shallower. Search from 30-45 ft using live bait on the bottom. The best bait this week seems to be Cigar Minnows.

INSHORE – Mostly Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) have been caught so far this week. Fishing the creeks is productive for Reds using Sugar Spice Glow 5 inch jerk shads. 3 inch New Penny Shrimp are also working well. A few anglers have been throwing topwaters to catch them in the shallow flats. 3.5 to 4 ft will be your key areas to fish up against the grass. INSHORE – Fish are active towards Dallas Creek and Keaton. Trout are sitting from 2-7 ft. Running shrimp or a popping cork and Shrimp are productive. Jerkbaits are also working well. They aren’t quite schooled up yet. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) sizes are starting to pick up and Reds (Drum, Red) are becoming more active. INSHORE – The South Pepperfish area has not been producing as well as it normally does. To the North the bite has been better towards Dallas Creek off 9 Mile Bank and Little Bank. A lot of Jerkbaits in pink shine are working well. Popping corks in deeper water in light white or New penny are also productive up near the banks in 4-6 ft. We are seeing mostly Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red).
OFFSHORE – Towards the ledge and the crack the bite is great. We are seeing a lot of Kings (Mackerel, King) and scattered Grouper (Grouper, Gag & Grouper, Red). A few Snapper (Snapper, Red) have turned up as well. Cigar Minnows are generally best to hook the Kings.
BAIT REPORT – Mullet are schooled up. Pinfish are active.

INSHORE – The cool water is bringing Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) in 4-6 ft of water. They are taking live Shrimp and Gulp Shrimp in pink shine and new penny chartreuse tail. MirrOlure 17MR in 808 and 18 colors are good. Cut Squid on the bottom are good for Flounder (Flounder, Southern). INSHORE – Trout and Redfish (Drum, Red) have been good lately. They are loving anything that is pink or chartreuse. Hard plastic MirrOlures are also productive. The 17 MR Glow Ice and 17 MR 18 BG is great. Similar Gulp are tearing the Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) up as well. They are mixed sizes. Water temperatures are cool which has brought the fish into 2.5 -5 ft. Redfish are shallower. There haven’t been reports on Sheepshead yet. Check out the Gheenoe Rally this weekend in Steinhatchee! INSHORE – It’s been a bit too tough to get offshore into this week. It has died down a bit but it’s still a challenge to make your way out. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) are doing really well this week. Anglers are heading to the South and fishing in 2.5 ft of water. The fish are in shallower, swimming the deeper pockets at the mouths of the creeks. We are seeing great numbers and various sizes of Reds from 18 inches to 25 inches along with Trout over 25 inches. Anglers in 3-5 ft are also doing well on Trout. They are using cut bait and live Shrimp. Gulps are productive as well. Suspending MirrOlures are beginning to be more effective as the fish become more lethargic. Check out the Gheenoe Rally this weekend in Steinhatchee! INSHORE – Fishing has been great lately. Every color of Gulp has been productive under a popping cork or just on a jig. The best colors has been New Penny or straight White and Nuclear Chicken. Anglers are hitting a mix of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red). We expect to begin seeing good Sheepshead once the water temperature gets a lot colder. OFFSHORE – There hasn’t been many reports from offshore except for a few Grouper (Grouper, Gag & Grouper, Red) as they move shallower with the dropping water temperature. The upcoming cold front will likely drop it more so anglers can target fish shallower.

INSHORE – The bite is picking up well with limits of nice Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) being caught. Several of them were over 26 inches. Anglers are fishing shallower since the water temperature has dropped. Redfish (Drum, Red) are shallower up against the grass, Trout are out in 3-5 ft. New Penny is a great color to throw at them. Live Shrimp and cut bait are also working under popping corks. Gulp or live Shrimp on jigheads are great slowly jigging back to the boat. Check out the community tournament this weekend! OFFSHORE – A few people are heading offshore this week and finding some decent Kings (Mackerel, King). Some were up to 25 lbs. Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black), Pink Mouth Grunt and some Gags (Grouper, Gag) were also caught. Sardines, Cigar Minnows and live bait will work well about 20 miles out.

INSHORE – Similar to last week, Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) are picking up. We are seeing more schools of fish that are coming through. They are getting bigger in size. INSHORE – The fishing is picking up fairly quickly this week. We are seeing small mixed schools of fish so far from 25-30 Redfish (Drum, Red), Trout (Seatrout, Spotted), Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) and Bluefish. There are also occasional schools of solely Redfish ranging from legal to over slot. Find the bait pods to find the fish. Shrimp and Gulp in Pink Shine, Chartreuse or Chart Pepper Neon to hit them. Topwater Rapala in Gold/Black is also productive along with cut Ladyfish and Finger Mullet. You can fish these under a popping cork. INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) are doing fairly well despite the recent weather. The water is still a little bit murky. Gulp and Strike First jerkbaits or chartreuse, Cotton Candy or Pink Shine Jerk shads are productive. Topwater lures are attracting them in black/gold or silver/black. Smaller lures are fairly productive too. Anglers are fishing deeper from 5-8 ft for both fish. There are some nice keeper Trout in these depths up to 20 inches. There’s some Redfish that are way up in the grass. They are beginning to school up and are taking anything with white or gold on it. INSHORE – The fishing has been a bit slow due to the weather pattern moving in. We have not had many reports as anglers are mostly staying inside. A lot of Charters have been cancelled as well. The tides are high as well but they seem to have begun to drop. There has been quite a bit of flooding. We hope to see the bite heat up after the weather clears up. INSHORE – Fishing is starting to pick up as the water becomes more clear. The afternoon bite is producing various sized Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are biting this week despite the rain. Head to the North or South in 7-12 ft of water. Look for clear water using Gulp. INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) are doing well inshore as they run South from Rocky Creek towards Pepperfish. The Redfish are still very shallow around sand flats and oyster bars. Strike First Cotton Candy Paddle tails or Jerk Shad are working well along with Pink Shine Gulp. OFFSHORE – The reports from offshore have been slower however anglers are focusing in about 60 ft of water for Grouper (Grouper, Gag & Grouper, Red). They are taking live bait. INSHORE – Big Redfish (Drum, Red) are pushed inshore along with Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) due to the scallopers. If you can get a low tide in the creeks in the evening we are seeing huge numbers of fish. They are piling up like in the winter. The sizes are great so far. Reds will be tailing in the flats a bit later in the evening. They are great sizes as well in 10 inches of water. If you are looking to limit on Trout, they are in roughly 12 ft of water. There is nothing between 3-10 ft as that is where the Scallopers are. You can also search the creeks and the shallow flats. The Tiki Bar is open throughout the week! Stop in for a drink! OFFSHORE – We are seeing lots of nice offshore bottom fish. There have been great numbers of Cobia. They are 30 ft and shallower. Kings (Mackerel, King) are mixed in and run 30 ft and deeper. There aren’t any keeper Grouper (Grouper, Gag & Grouper, Red) this week. Stretch 30s are what anglers are using. There are tons of small Dolphin a bit farther out. There are a few decent sizes mixed in. 60 ft of water is a great depth. They are schooling around structure. A chartreuse jig head has been great this week.

INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) are still consistent this week. A few schools of big Reds are turning up. Topwater lures have been most productive. The Rapala Gold Mullet in the bigger size and the Bomber Badonkadonk in Silver Mullet have been great choices. Cotton Candy Stinky Finger Paddle tail on a hook are also a great alternative. OFFSHORE – Grouper (Grouper, Gag) are still consistent this week using live bait on any structure. From 60-75 ft has been the key area to find them. INSHORE – Redfish (Drum, Red) and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are still being caught on Pink Shine and Cotton Candy Stinky Fingers. The Golden Shiner Paddle Tail is also great along with the Chartreuse Jerkshad. Reds are in 2-3 ft while Trout are in 7-8 ft. The numbers are great. INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) are still being caught however Scallops are the main focus. They are on fire and everyone is getting their limits. For the Trout anglers are using Gulp with Pink shine or Pearl White with a Chartreuse tail. Cotton Candy Stinky Finger is a great alternative. Jig it 6 inches above the grass and try to find sand areas. Scallopers are spreading the fish out but you can find them in the grass areas to about 8 ft.
OFFSHORE – Grouper (Grouper, Gag) and Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater) are thick however keep in mind Ajs are out of season. There has been Kings (Mackerel, King) from 65-68 ft on the rocks. Lots of breakoffs however some have been brought in. Live bait has been the best bet to hook them.

INSHORE – The Scallop fishing has been hot this week. Plenty of anglers are bringing in limits. This has been the main focus for a lot of anglers and charters. Redfish (Drum, Red) have been hitting well on the morning bite and we are also seeing a steady catch of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) this week. The sizes have been pretty good so far.

Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) are hot. The size and numbers are great. There are plenty of keepers. The Reds are really shallow and the Trout are deeper. The Reds are in a foot and a half at most. Dead low tide during incoming tide will have the Reds schooling. The bigger sizes of Trout are in the shallow with Reds however the bigger quantities are in about 5-8 ft.
OFFSHORE – The bite is great this week. Monster Kings (Mackerel, King) are swimming this week. They are breaking lines! The Cobia are mixed up. The numbers are great and there are some keepers if you put some time in to find them. The Cobia are swimming between 20-40 ft approximately. They are putting up a good fight. Search the wrecks and reefs for the best sizes. There may be a few Barracuda (Barracuda, Great) mixed in. Grouper (Grouper, Gag) and Snapper (Snapper, Red) have been biting in great numbers but no keepers. Grunts (Grunt, White) were also brought in. Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater) are not in season but they are running thick. We hope to see this continue into the weekend.

INSHORE – Redfish (Drum, Red) are schooling just about everywhere right now. They are to the North and South. The Reds are shallow in about 3 ft. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are more difficult to catch. There are tons of shorts this week however it’s not easy to catch your limit of slot sized. They are in deeper water, about 5-7 ft.
OFFSHORE – Offshore has been good. There are plenty of Red Snapper (Snapper, Red) right at 17 inches, just keepers. Anglers are having trouble getting their bait to the bottom to catch anything else. They are weighing up to 16 lbs. Some really nice Gag and Red Grouper (Grouper, Gag & Grouper, Red) have also been weighted in. Kings (Mackerel, King) are coming in as well at almost 60 lbs. Cobia are inshore and offshore. Some have been caught in about 8 ft on the sandbar, but they can be found on all the natural and artificial reefs or structures

INSHORE – So far we have been doing pretty well on the Cobia and it’s been fun on marker number 1. Everybody has been hitting the marker on the way out so you definitely want to get there first. Honestly, they’re throwing everything in their tackle boxes at them. There is at least 1 good Cobia coming in each day. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) are doing really well on Little Bank using new penny gulp, and live shrimp for the Trout. For the Spanish, anglers are using silver spoons. The Trout are doing really well down near Pepperfish in 4-7 ft. of water using white Gulp with a Pink tail. There’s been a small picking of Redfish (Drum, Red) as we seem to be struggling with them here lately. Up around the rocky points with pink shine lures is a good bet. There’s a tournament in the area right now and some anglers have managed to catch some really nice Redfish.
OFFSHORE – We’ve had quite a bit of Grouper (Grouper, Gag) and Snapper (Snapper, Gray) coming in. There’s been some nice big Sea Bass, Black, caught that are grabbing the bait before the grouper get it. On the Grouper, they are using Cigar Minnows, Thread Herring, Northern Mackerel and Squid.

INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) continue to do well. Pink Shine is the most productive and topwaters are working as well. Skidderwalks in (SSW-11) Holographic Silver is also great. Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish), Bluefish and Cobia are hitting as well. Some of the Cobia are even keepers. Generally Eel baits are best. Tarpon are beginning to show up around the docks in the river. Live Mullet or Pinfish are doing well to hook them.
OFFSHORE – Anglers are catching Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater), Kingfish (Mackerel, King), Sea Bass (Sea Bass, Black) and Grunts (Grunt, White) this week. Some people are free diving and seeing quite a few Cobia as well as a few decent sized Gag Grouper (Grouper, Gag).

INSHORE – Everyone is getting Cobia right now. In and around the markers and any kind of structure has been hot. They are on the flats as well. Balloons and a butterflied Pinfish has been a great method to hook them. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are still really good in the flats from 4-6 ft of water. Live shrimp or gulp in white/chartreuse or white/hot pink has been a great seller. Redfish (Drum, Red) are still around the rocks and points this week. Gulp and live target lures have worked well. Try different things. Quite a few Flounder (Flounder, Southern) have been caught on white grub tails from the bottom. It’s been good both North and South. INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) are still doing very well this week. The rain is holding them in the same depth this week at 3-5.5 ft. Once the water clears up and the conditions heat up they will move out. INSHORE – The fishing has been really great in this area as of late. We are seeing good Redfish (Drum, Red) and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). Mackerel (Mackerel, Spanish) are running well too. INSHORE – Anglers are doing great on Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) right now. Pink Shine gulp has worked well drifting the flats in 4-6 ft of water. The shoreline in skinny water is producing Reds (Drum, Red) on gulp spoons and topwaters. Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) are around 9 mile bank. Anything shiny is working to hook them. Sheepshead are hit and miss this week. They are catching well at the Steinhatchee Reef and the sunken Shrimp boat. Live Shrimp on the bottom is best to catch them with a strong sharp hook. Most anglers are staying inside so far this week as there is not a lot open offshore and there are no reports of Kings (Mackerel, King) yet.

Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – Anglers are catching some good Redfish (Drum, Red) this week. The shallow flats during the high tides has been best. The closest you can get to the grass and oyster bars will do well. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are short but they are catching some keepers if you put some time in. They are in the shallows as well throughout 2-5 ft. Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) just came in and anglers are catching a good amount. They are 5 ft and farther this week. We expect this to continue into the weekend.
OFFSHORE – The offshore has remained steady so far. Sheepshead continue to bite well this week. Anglers are also catching Kings (Mackerel, King) this week. Anglers are live baiting to find them. Grouper (Grouper, Gag) are also biting but are not consistent.

Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – Sheepshead continue to run well this week. This has been the main focus for anglers this week and most people are hitting their limits fairly easily. Generally Blue Crabs or Fiddler Crabs are a great bait to use. Everyone has also been doing fairly well lately on Redfish (Drum, Red) and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). The Trout are becoming a bit scattered due to the change in water temperature however if you put some time in you should be able to hit your limits. Live Shrimp is killer when it comes to Trout and Reds. Similar artificials will work well.

Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – There has been a good Sheepshead bite and anglers are bringing them in by the boat loads. They prefer Fiddler Crabs but will take Shrimp. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) continue to do well this week. The mirrolure 17MR 808 BG is working very well along with the pink shine Shad. Live Shrimp is a never fail as well.

Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – The Shallow flats are holding some Reds (Drum, Red) and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). There have been no reports from the river so far. The fish are being caught at the mouths of creeks around the oyster bars, rock or sand patches and grass. Mirrolure 17MR 808, gulp Pink Shine in Fluke Style and 5 inch jerk shad have all been productive on an 8 oz jighead. Chartreuse/Pepper/Neon has been a productive color along with pearl white. Sheepshead have also shown up but are not really heavy yet. Angler are waiting for them to turn on.

Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) have been the hot target in 2.5 ft of water on sandy or grass bottom and oyster bars throughout the flats and creeks. They are catching them on live Shrimp or Pinfish. Mirrolure 17MR has been a great artificial alternative. Cajun Thunder on a jighead and jigging slow back to the boat has been extremely productive. Sheepshead have been in the creeks and the reefs but they have not come in heavy yet. Anglers expect them to pick up in the next few weeks.
OFFSHORE – Grouper (Grouper, Gag & Grouper, Red) have been swimming offshore this week. They are using Cigar Minnows. Mackerel (Mackerel, Spanish & Mackerel, King) are being caught on gold spoons and Pinfish with steel leaders near Buckeye, the Super Ledge and Steinhatchee reef.

INSHORE – Things have been good despite the weather. Sheepshead have been good inshore and offshore. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) are still great in the creeks. Small Shrimp has been working well for everything this week. Similar lures will do great. Mirrolure MR 17 or 808 BG (Broken Glass) have been extremely effective. INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) has been doing great on live or artificial Shrimp on a jig head. The artificial Pearl White color has been the most productive. Generally a Vudu Shrimp is a great soft plastic to throw. Hitting the bottom of the creeks has been the best method to hook them. The sizes are huge so far and we expect this to continue into the weekend.

INSHORE – The wind has been extremely strong however there are still some nice Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) coming out of the creeks this week. Shrimp is the best bait so far this week. The scent helps attract the fish in the rough water. Gulp and MirrOlures are working as an artificial alternative. When conditions become more favorable we expect to see some Sheepshead turn up in the nearshore as well. Even the rivers are white capping. We hope to see things clear up for the weekend so anglers can take advantage of the good Trout bite.

INSHORE – Things have been really good in this area as of late. Everyone is limiting out on Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red). There are some Sheepshead in the river and the bite has been consistent. The 27 MR 808 Ice is the best lure to be throwing this week. Soft plastic lures are a great alternative.
OFFSHORE – There are tons of Pink Mouth (Grunt) and Sea Bass, Black swimming the offshore. The sizes are great so far. There are also tons of Grouper, Gag however they are not legal to keep at this point. There are no Sheepshead caught offshore as of yet however they are still hot inshore.

INSHORE – Trout have been moving into the creek mouths this week. Anglers are using slow suspending lures such as the 27 MR Mirrolures. Light colored gulp with a chartreuse tail have been great as well on a 16 oz jighead. The Reds are hitting early morning on gulp, live pinfish or gold spoons. We are waiting to see some Sheepshead coming soon that will be holding up on the reefs in the next few weeks. They will likely love live Fiddler Crabs.

INSHORE – The rivers are full of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) this week. They can be caught on Shrimp, gulp or mirrolures fairly easily. Their sizes are great and the cold weather has moved them into the river and schooled them up making the bite a little easier. There are also some Sheepshead holding up on structures. They are loving live Fiddler Crabs which is very typical.
BAIT REPORT – Most Shrimp have moved out with the cold weather however there are plenty of Pinfish holding up in the river to caught.

Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – The fishing has been good in this area lately. Anglers are catching Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) like crazy in the river. Most of them are short but some good ones are caught in between. Reds (Drum, Red) are in the creeks. The best baits have been Shrimp, Gulp and Mirrolures for both fish. Pearl White and anything with a new penny or chartreuse tail have been the hot colors this week. Both fish are plentiful and though the sizes are not super great the bite is consistent. They are the main target this week as the weather has been too rough for boaters to make it offshore this week.

INSHORE – The wind has been a bit rough as of late so getting on the water has not been easy. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) have been picking up still despite these conditions. The sizes have been varied from small to large. Shrimp, Gulp and Mirrodines are working best to hook them. No one has really made it offshore this week due to the weather.

INSHORE – The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) are biting extremely well so far this week. They are preferring Shrimp however they are not picky beyond this. Artificials such as a berkeley Shrimp are working well in bright colors. Live and frozen Shrimp are producing the best sized bites so far. Cut Pinfish is turning up a decent bite on Reds too as it matches the current bait run.
OFFSHORE – It’s been too windy for anglers to head offshore. Once the wind lies down the bite is expected to be great on Snapper (Snapper, Gray & Snapper, Red) that were coming up in great sizes before the front set in. There is a lot in season and a lot expected to be swimming and hungry by the weekend.

INSHORE – The hottest fish in the area this week is the White Trout (Seatrout, Sand). They are going crazy and are coming up in both great sizes and numbers. Reds (Drum, Red) are also doing well and are particularly loving pink shad this week. Topwater lures are the best option for both the White Trout and Specks (Seatrout, Spotted). Shrimp are working great as well and are usually a first preference. The wind has kept a lot of anglers off the water so far however we hope for this to calm down for the holiday and anglers can get out for some great Christmas fishing.
BAIT REPORT – Pinfish are consistently doing well lately in traps. Sea Hag Marina is closed Christmas day and back to regular hours Saturday. Happy Holidays!

INSHORE – There is quite a bit of action from the inshore this week however everything is turning up pretty small yet. There are lots of short Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) hitting topwater lures. Gulp and Shrimp are working as well. Reds (Drum, Red) are turning up as well and there are a few good sizes of them. The best bite has been in the morning so far this week however anglers should watch out for the negative tide.
OFFSHORE – There are some reports of Snapper, Red and Snapper, Gray hitting in the offshore on the bottom this week. There is not a whole lot of action in this area as most fish are closed. INSHORE – The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Red (Drum, Red) bite has still been on throughout the inshore. Most anglers are currently focusing on them so far this week. Live Shrimp, frozen Squid and bright, multicolored gulps are working very well along with two-tone mirrolures. Anglers must make sure they are suspended or sinking as topwater does not seem to be working this week.

INSHORE – There is quite a bit of action inshore this week. Seatrout, Spotted are nearshore along with Reds (Drum, Red) and Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) all chasing a gulp bait this week. Live Shrimp and Pinfish are extremely effective as well. There is no preferred tide, most anglers are simply getting out when they can and staying tight to the creeks for a good bite.

INSHORE – The fishing has been great both North and South this week. Folks have been catching Seatrout, Spotted and Reds (Drum, Red) on pink mirrodine and mirrolures. Horseshoe Beach Fishing Report
INSHORE – There are plenty of species inshore to catch right now. Seatrout, Spotted are running thick and chasing live Shrimp under cajun thunder floats. They are also loving gulp as well. Redfish (Drum, Red) have been biting jerk shads in pink shine or sweet and sour chicken. Anglers are finding them along the grass points that stick out. Drifting across the rocks has been fairly productive. The Mackerel, Spanish bite is good as well as fishermen are circling bait pods using clark spoons. Along the bottom there have been reports of some Flounder, Southern biting live bait as well.
OFFSHORE – Not a lot of anglers have been heading offshore this week however there are still some reports coming in of some great catches. Although Grouper, Gag is the only species open this far out, everyone seems to be hooking Grouper, Red. Anglers are using live Pinfish, Squid or Goggle Eyes on sinkers. They can be found around the 50 mile mark as it has not been cool enough for them to move in closer yet.

INSHORE – Most of the fish in shallow water are within 4-5 ft. Reds (Drum, Red) are hitting gulp with a chartreuse tail as an artificial or shrimp and pinfish as a live alternative. These are all working well for Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) too. Most anglers are fishing under a popping cork. Reports have been that some Mackerel, Spanish turned up as well.
