Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) continue to turn up into this week. They are increasing in size, especially around the mouth of the river and up. They are still preferring frozen Shrimp or Squid. Sheepshead can be found in some of the same areas but are prominent around the jetties and the mouth of the river. Pro Angler App Users – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – Anglers heading offshore this week are targeting Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish). They are running the nearshore waters and can be caught during weather windows when conditions are favorable. Anyone looking to spend some time on the water can catch and release Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater) as well.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – There are still a lot of Sheepshead around the mouth and the jetties into this week. There has also been some Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) in decent sizes as well. They are in the river and out around the mouth as well. It’s a tough time of year to find Shrimp inshore so use frozen or artificials. Alternatively, Squid will work. Pro Angler App Users – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater) are now catch and release. For those anglers heading out front the Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) are running as well. Weather has made fishing tough with the choppy water and wind.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – The Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) are leaving the river and heading to the local reefs. They are on fire all the way to Pascagoula. The morning bite has been a bit better due to the tide range however the afternoon action has also been hot. Topwater first thing in the morning and heading to soft plastics after that is your best strategy over structure and oyster reefs. INSHORE – It’s been really windy so not a lot of anglers have headed out front fishing. In the river things have been slow as well. Menhaden are up in the river and are producing a lot of activity from the Pelicans. We expect fish to be following them when conditions are a bit more favorable. Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – The wind is still blowing and keeping anglers inside. When anglers are able to find sheltered areas the Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Sheepshead have been holding up in the rivers. Sheepshead are typically a fan of structure so anywhere with rock piles is a key area. Since Shrimp is out of season so to speak, if you can get your hands on live bait this will be very attractive to both Sheepshead and Trout. Similar Shrimp artificials will work well. OFFSHORE – Spear Anglers out front are hooking Mangrove Snapper (Snapper, Gray) and Blackfin Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin) farther out. There hasn’t been any Cobia caught however there are Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater) being caught.

INSHORE – It’s been a bit rough out front this week. You can still find Sheepshead and limits of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) up in the river. Fiddler Crabs or live Shrimp are your best bet for the Sheepshead. Other than that, not a lot has changed from last week. Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – The weather has been a bit tough however the Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) were biting right after the rain. Even with the new size limit, anglers are still able to fill the cooler. There’s been some nice fish caught in the Graveline Bayou in particular. If you can get out during a weather break, you’ll find a good bite. Redfish (Drum, Red) continue to bite in the rivers and creeks as well. Pro Angler App Users – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – Yellowfin (Tuna, Yellowfin) have been caught offshore this week. They are roughly 80 miles out and caught during the daytime. Most anglers are aiming to get out there for the early day bite.

INSHORE – Sheepshead have been biting in great numbers this week. The jetties are the hot areas along with rocky areas around the Chevron Plant. Reds (Drum, Red) are hit or miss. They are around 20 inches. Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are scattered. Nothing has been biting out front. Pro Angler App Users – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – The fishing has been absolutely phenomenal this week. Anglers are fishing the river. Redfish are feeding now that the rain has cleared up. There are still plenty of Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Speckled). KEEP IN MIND – as of now the minimum size has increased to 15 inches instead of 13 inches in Alabama. White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) are taking live Shrimp. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) have been caught on Bull Minnows. Anglers are hitting their limits with this beautiful weather as of late. It is a bit choppy and windy out front around the channel and the shipyard so most people are avoiding that area until conditions are a bit more favorable. INSHORE – Towards Biloxi a bit farther up in the back bay there are Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) close to the rivers. They are also around Ship and Cat Island. A few Redfish (Drum, Red) are mixed in. Drum (Drum, Black) and Sheepshead are being caught from the piers and fishing bridge. If you are heading towards Pass Christian the fish are a bit scattered this week and a little tough to catch with all the fresh water. Moving, clean water will be the trick to finding them. Live bait will be your best bet to catch if you can get your hands on some. Shrimp and Minnows are key. We hope to see things pick up into the weekend.

INSHORE – The water is way up with all the recent rain and it has been windy. There hasn’t been a lot of anglers heading out since Christmas. The water is likely quite mixed up and the seas are high offshore as well. It will be tough to find fishable areas. We hope to see things clear up soon so we can kick off the 2017 season. Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – It’s been a bit slow into this week. Not a lot has changed at this point. We continue to see decent catches of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) however they are beginning to slow down as the temperature cools. They are fairly scattered at this point and have not yet schooled up. Generally they will be holding up in deeper pockets and moving to shallower areas once the sun rises and warms up the water. This means that the midday bite will be productive in these areas so long as there is tide. The morning bite in deeper water will also be key. Generally Shrimp or similar artificials are your best bet to hook them. The recent rain has brought down some Bass (Bass, Striped) however the bite has not been consistent. There has been some freshwater pushed into the area with all of the rain however we don’t expect to see that last long. We expect this to forecast into the holiday week. The Pro Angler Team wishes you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. We look forward to bringing you more great reports in 2017! Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) fishing has been wonderful out front by Round Island. They are fishing being caught up to 8 lbs. The Specks and White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) are still biting along with Redfish (Drum, Red). The Reds are on the flats and up into the river. MirrOlures and Shrimp are going to be the best thing to throw this week. The recent rain didn’t do much to the salinity and there’s still Trout all the way up past I10. There is some wind expected coming up so the fishing out front may be a bit tough. The rivers are going to be most productive and will provide some shelter from the wind. INSHORE – The bite has been a bit slow into this week. The tides aren’t moving very much. Recently we were seeing Reds (Drum, Red) and Trout (Seatrout, Sand & Seatrout, Spotted) in the river. INSHORE – White Trout (Seatrout, Sand), Specks (Seatrout, Spotted), Redfish (Drum, Red), Sheepshead and Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are all turning up inshore this week. Anglers are mostly using live Shrimp, frozen Shrimp and Squid to hook them. The reason some anglers use Squid over Shrimp is because it stays on the hook a little longer. The best bite has been all throughout the day as the temperatures begin to drop. At this time they generally move to shallower water, flats and marshes. Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – Not a lot has changed from last week other than the recent rain. The temperature has dropped a bit which may turn the fish on. There is a whole lot of White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) that continue to bite. The Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) are mixed in size as some are up to 17 inches long with a lot of shorts. Shrimp has been a great bait to throw under a cork. Similar artificials will do well. Anglers are sticking to the mouths of the rivers as it has been too windy to head out front. The morning is providing the best bite overall. A low tide or first incoming tide of the day is your best bet. Prior to this rain we were seeing some Reds (Drum, Red) as well. We hope to see this pick back up once conditions subside. Pro Angler App Users – Tap a fish below the report for more angling tips and tricks!

INSHORE – The fishing out of Pascagoula has been great. Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) are chasing the Shrimp that moved back in. They are up in the river and out front as there hasn’t been rain lately. The water is salty pretty far up past I10. With the full moon, the tide has been off so anglers are night fishing for Flounder (Flounder, Southern). They are huge sizes and taking Cocahoe Minnows. Most anglers are just Carolina Rigging the minnows. The White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) are taking Squid Strips. Search the mouth of the bayou where it opens up into the river. Everything is doing well. Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – There have not been too many Reds (Drum, Red) and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) coming in this week but we suspect it is due to the hot Snapper bite.

OFFSHORE – The federal Snapper (Snapper, Red) season was extended and the bite was phenomenal. Squid was the best bait to find the bigger sizes. Check your regulations to see what’s open in your area. A lot of Cobia, Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) and Kings (Mackerel, King) have moved in as well. The Cobia are especially big. Cigar Minnows have been great to hook them. There have also been some good hauls of Lanes (Snapper, Lane) caught as well. Red Snapper are still open in state waters for anyone wanting to fish inside the 9 mile mark.

INSHORE – Flounder (Flounder, Southern) and Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) are the main focus this week. Flounder are hitting around the sea wall in about 6 ft of water. Keep in mind, as the temperatures increase we will see the Trout begin to move to the deeper water and hide in the cooler holes. The early morning bite will be most productive for them before the water gets too warm.

OFFSHORE – Snapper (Snapper, Red) are now open and biting consistently this week. We expect to see this heat up as the season progresses.

Be prepared for some tight lines.

OFFSHORE – With Federal Snapper (Snapper, Red) season open and State season open, we are catching lots of Snapper and even some offshore Cobia.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – The fishing has been phenomenal lately. The Speckled Trout Tournament was great. Nice fish were coming through. There are plenty of Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) and White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) on live Shrimp. A lot of Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are swimming as well. Live Shrimp and Bull Minnows are their favorite. Cut Squid works particularly well for White Trout. Large Cobia are coming in this week. They are up to 50 lbs so far. We expect nice weather and great conditions into the weekend.

White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) has also began to make an appearance too. Shrimp is working well for just about everything.

OFFSHORE – Nice Ajs (Jack, Amberjack Greater) are still hanging around on the bottom this week. 100ft of water ain’t a bad place to start.

INSHORE – Things have been pretty good this week. We are seeing tons of Specks (Seatrout, Spotted). They are definitely out there and thick. You won’t have to go too far off to find them. Redfish (Drum, Red) continue to bite this week and the sizes are consistent. There are reports of steady Cobia and the sizes are fair to big. Anglers aren’t going out very far to find them however the bigger sizes are farther out. They seem to be a bit hit and miss for tournaments.

INSHORE – Things have been a bit slow due to the windy conditions. The water is still not very salty however we are seeing Reds (Drum, Red) and Sheepshead despite this. The Sheepshead are holding up on structures and piers while the Reds have been swimming the flats, the river and out front when anglers can get out to the area past the barrier islands. Anglers are using live Shrimp when they can get their hands on them. Frozen Shrimp and Squid are working as an alternative. Similar artificials such as a Vudu Shrimp will be productive as well.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – The water is finally clearing up a bit. There have been a ton of Sheepshead caught so far. Fiddler Crabs or small Shrimp have been the most productive means to hook them. The Redfish (Drum, Red) are continuing to bite as well. They are even turning up off the islands. Not many people have headed offshore this week so there have been no reports coming in. We hope to see the Sheepshead and Redfish carry into the weekend.

INSHORE – Things have been slow due to the conditions in the area. The salinity is low because of flooding and the water levels are high. There are still some Sheepshead spawning by the pylons out front. The bite has been great and they are very consistent. Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – There is quite a bit of decent action in the area this week. Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) and Redfish (Drum, Red) are doing well by the bridges on topwater Mirrolures TT18 or 52750. Anglers are wade fishing or fishing off the bridge. The bay is producing White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) on the reefs and Ground Mullet (Kingfish, Southern & Kingfish, Northern) using dead bait such as Squid or Shrimp.

OFFSHORE – There is a great bite around the horseshoe. There are some nice Tuna (Tuna, Blackfin & Tuna, Yellowfin) between 80-130 out. Anglers are chunking to hook them using Porgies. The bite has been very consistent so far.

BAIT REPORT – Small Porgy are beginning to show up in this area.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – Flounder (Flounder, Southern), Trout (Seatrout, Spotted), Sheepshead and Drum (Drum, Black) are hitting well inshore this week. There is a bit of freshwater mix this week due to all the rain however this has not affected the fish too much. Anglers are sticking to structure with fresh dead and live bait. Anglers gearing up for the Spring bite can always check out our Fish feature which provides more information to keep your lines tight.

OFFSHORE – Redfish (Drum, Red), Sheepshead, Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and a few small Sharks (Shark, Atlantic Sharpnose) are all doing well by the islands as well as 12 miles off the coast. If the weather stays warm we will see Cobia move in. The bite has been consistent so far and the main focus for most anglers avoiding the freshwater mix on the inside. We expect this to continue into the weekend however the temperature may drop a bit.

INSHORE – The weather has been beautiful as of late! The Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are beginning to come in this week. Shallow water has been the best place to search for them. The afternoon bite is the hottest throughout the high tide this week. The Flounder will be waiting in ambush during outgoing tide where you can find some moving water. The Reds (Drum, Red) are still doing well however there are no reports of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). The Sheepshead are still hot around structure this week.

INSHORE – There have been a few Reds (Drum, Red) caught in this area as of late. The weather has been spotty so a lot of anglers are staying on the inside. INSHORE – The weather has been mostly unfavorable the past few days in the area. The conditions will hopefully lie down by mid to late week so anglers can squeeze some fishing in before the end of the year. INSHORE – There are a few remnants of Red Tide from the past few weeks. This has cleared out a great deal however there still a few spotty places where that are bad areas. The weather is also calling for some unfavorable weather in the next few days as well so it may be difficult to get on the water. The reports that we have are of a great Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Red (Drum, Red) bite on live Shrimp under a popping cork. They have been steady but not on fire as of yet. We hope this will continue after this upcoming front passes and the water finally clears up.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – There is not a lot of action on the beaches and in the gulf this week as Red Tide has been affecting the shoreline from Gulfport to Pascagoula. Most places have been shut down this week. Luckily the backwater rivers and creeks are continuing to produce great Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Reds (Drum, Red) so there is still a good bite to be found. The higher you go, the better the bite. There have even been some White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) turning up this week. Shrimp is the best bet either live or dead. We hope to see conditions clear up soon so anglers can get back out on the water. The next cold snap should clean it up. Should anglers be able to get out for the weekend they can always check out our Tips feature which provides additional information and suggestion to help improve the catch.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – As the temperature drops fish have started to move. The White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) have become scarce so far this week however the Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) are just beginning to show up. The sizes are good so far and expected to become bigger as the temperature continues to cool down. Reds (Drum, Red) seem to be constantly swimming in the area and are always a target because of this. Since there is not a ton of bait swimming this week most anglers are moving towards artificial lures such as Vudu Shrimp which is very effective. Fresh Shrimp and Mud Minnows are producing some great results as well. Anglers who can get their hands on live Shrimp will find it the best bet.

OFFSHORE – The Cobia run have made their way through at this point and they are nowhere to be found now that the migration has ended. The weather has finally laid down however there are no legal fish to be found so far this week in the offshore.

BAIT REPORT – There are some Shrimp running this week but that’s pretty much the only option for live bait so far.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – The two main fish biting inshore right now are Redfish (Drum, Red) and White Trout (Seatrout, Sand). The Speckled (Seatrout, Spotted) have been a little hard to come by. The rivers are just starting to clear from the rain we had up north. There hasn’t been a whole of bait around aside from Shrimp and Mud Minnows so anglers are using them or artificials such as Vudu Shrimp and Gulp.

OFFSHORE – State snapper season is closed and the Cobia migration has already made it’s way through. Lack of fish in season coupled with rough seas hasn’t put a lot of boats offshore and as a result reports have not come in.

BAIT REPORT – There isn’t much aside from Shrimp and Mud Minnows around here this week.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – The bite inshore has been great lately. Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) have been a bit slower this week however the White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) have been fantastic coming in both great numbers and sizes. Reds (Drum, Red) and Flounder (Flounder, Southern & Flounder, Gulf) have also had great reports this week. Live Shrimp are working best for all of these species however alternatively the artificials can be very productive this week. Vudu or gulp Shrimp are producing great results as well under a cork. Anglers in the area can also try their hand at catching some live Crab as they are on fire here lately. Everyone is crabbing.

OFFSHORE – This week the offshore fishing has slowed down as there is not a whole lot of action in this area. Snapper season is closed now and the Cobia have completed their migration through. Anglers who decide to head out this holiday week can always check out our Tips feature which provides additional information and suggestions on how to improve the catch. Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – The wind has deterred most anglers from hitting the water this week however we do have some reports of Big Bull Reds (Drum, Red) coming up in the bayous. There have also been some pretty big Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) weighing in from 4-6 lbs in the bay. Anglers have been using live Shrimp and finding great results. Alternatively artificial bait has also been working with the best colors being chartreuse or cajun pepper.

OFFSHORE – Due to unfavorable weather there have been very little action offshore. Not many anglers have made it onto the water for reports this week. Once wind conditions settle we expect to see an increase of reports for this area. Anglers who decide to head out this week can always consult our Tips feature which provides additional information and suggestions that could improve the catch. Additionally Gulfport Harbour can provide an up to the minute fishing report as well.

BAIT REPORT – The wind has pushed the thick Menhaden run out and live baiters are having a hard time locating bait in these conditions.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – As the weather begins to cool down the inshore fishing is beginning to change. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are moving back into the bay along with the Redfish (Drum, Red). With the seasonal changes the bayous are beginning to fish well using artificials. Chartreuse is a “can’t go wrong with” color. Early in the morning some anglers are using various types of live bait however the fish seem to prefer the soft plastics. There have been no reports of Flounder this week however there are still expected to be some swimming for the next little while.

OFFSHORE – The deeper water fishing is producing a solid Tuna (Tuna, Yellowfin) bite. The Tuna are in behind the shrimp boats and Hardtails are working very well as bait. The boats are past the 10 mile mark at this time although continue to move with the Shrimp.

BAIT REPORT – Hardtails (Blue Runner) are sitting on the buoys. They are not difficult to find as they are high in the water column. Sabiki rigs are working well to hook them and anglers are taking them offshore for Tuna. There are also some Shrimp running inshore.

INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted & Seatrout, Sand) are doing very well in the shallower water. There are also some ground Mullet, Flounder (Flounder, Southern & Flounder, Gulf) and Reds (Drum, Red) still being reported inshore. Anglers are using Live Shrimp or Vudu Shrimp under a cork as they’re working very well for all of these species.

OFFSHORE – In the deeper water the buoys and ships are the hotspots. There are continued reports of Cobia in roughly 60 ft of water. Anglers are finding the Live Eels and Live Croakers are working best.

BAIT REPORT – There are small amounts of Shrimp running right now however the Menhaden are significantly more prominent under the birds at this time.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Due to the terrible weather all offshore trips have been cancelled. If you find improved conditions throughout the week and choose to make your way out on the water you can always consult our Tips feature for more info that could improve your catch. Once the weather calms down we are expecting some very active fishing offshore.

INSHORE – Fishing has been terrible in the bay due to the rain. Anglers are anxiously awaiting three days of no rain or a strong North wind to come and help conditions out. The best fishing will be found farther out towards the Louisiana marsh. Water levels are still over everyone’s docks right now. Though topwater is fresh and has a strong current there is still salt underneath so you may have some luck fishing the deep holes. The train trussel will be another great spot for the devoted angler. At this time we do not have an anticipated date for conditions to calm down but we are hoping for the best.

BAIT REPORT – With the high water levels bait has been very scattered. For more ideas on what to use you can always rely on our Tips feature with lots of information that may help improve your catch.

OFFSHORE – High winds have produced no offshore reports this week. 15-20 mph Northwest winds have not made ideal fishing conditions.

INSHORE – White Trout and Brown Mullet are biting along the pier and banks using live Shrimp, Bull Minnows and small Croakers. Frozen Squid and Shrimp are working well too. For Redfish, Popping Corks and live Shrimp on the bottom are best. The best tide times are hit and miss. Trout have been biting late at night or early morning and Redfish on low tide in the afternoon. Next week however low tide will be early in the morning so daytime could produce some great fish.

OFFSHORE – There’s been a good run of Cobia out there. They are on both sides of the barrier lines, so you don’t have to go to deep.

You can find them behind schools of Dolphins, just inside the islands, 8-9 miles from the main coastline. The Captains are using Croaker, Squid, and Shrimp. Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

INSHORE – Mary Walker Marina hasn’t had too many people out this week on account of the heat. There has, however, been a good White Trout bite from the inshore boats. Frozen Shrimp is working well for Trout and the Redfish are taking frozen Shrimp as well. The Crabbing has been really good lately. The Bayou is Crabbing very well along with the Fishing Piers. Keep in mind that there are some specific regulations for Crabbing so make sure to check your local regs.

BAIT REPORT – There’s been lots of Pogies schooling around the piers and should be pretty easy to net.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – The Snapper near the triple rigs, approx. 16 miles offshore, has been really great as are the rigs. The Amberjack are biting well. Pogies for cut bait, and Cigar minnows are must haves for both species.

INSHORE – Lots of Redfish are being caught right now, BIG Redfish. Speckled Trout and White Trout can be found together. The Speckled Trout and the Redfish anglers, depending on who you talk to are swearing by live shrimp, and others swearing by frozen shrimp. The temperatures are finally dropping this week so look forward to an improvement in the fishing conditions as the fish start to get a little relief from the heat as well.

BAIT REPORT – Shrimp is in abundance, bull minnows are just starting to show up again but are very little. Croaker is being found, for the most part, just outside the mouth of the rivers.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Every one has been taking advantage of the state Red Snapper season – that will be open until the end of October within state waters, which is 9 miles out. So that includes Fish Haven 1, Fish Haven 2, and the North East side of Fish Haven 13. Snapper like to cling to the bottom so drop down cut bait, squid, or whatever you can pull up with a Sabiki on your way to your favourite spot.

INSHORE – Trout. Trout. And more Trout. They are just everywhere right now. Dawn over at Mary Walker marina has been seeing a lot of people limit out on the Speckled Trout catching 30 a day. And that is saying nothing of the White Trout which seem magnetically attracted to a well placed hook. You want to go out to the jettie just out past of the home port where they pile up the rocks and do the dredging. This is coming out of Mary Walker Marina area in Gautier.

BAIT REPORT – There are so many Pogies you can see them in the waves. There is also tons of them around the Marina and you should have no problem catching them.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – The Snapper are biting right now, however, they are out of season federally – so you need to stay within state waters. The Cobia are running right now and like to bite on big feathery lures. Pretty much everything is biting right now so you want to tailor your bait and tackle to the fish you want to chase. If you are looking to catch Dolphin or other fish you are going to need to go out to the blue water which is 60-70 miles out.

INSHORE – Sylvia at Mary Walker Marina has been seeing Redfish, White Trout, and Flounder. The White Trout get picky though and won’t hit on a lure. They like the fresh bait. Regardless of what you are fishing inshore, everything eats shrimp. If you find a good spot that the fish of your choice likes to hang around, be it rocks, structure, inlets, etc., and you drop down shrimp they will gobble it up. One of the keys to fishing right now is fishing with the tide. Fish get hungry when the water moves so keep an eye out.

BAIT REPORT – This time of year there is lots of bait fish and shrimp around.

At Mary Walker Marina they carry a full line of bait – live bait or frozen.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – We had a phenomenal Snapper season. People were bringing great catches of Red and Lane Snapper as well as Cobia. Unfortunately our friends over at Mary Walker Marina haven’t heard much about fishing since the season closed. It was also ungofly hot out last weekend so no one bothered torturing themselves in that heat. The fishing might very well be as good as it was, but between the regulations and the heat a lot of anglers have opted to stay inshore. The State says they are reopening Snapper season on July 16th and that will run straight through till October 31st, so if you are going offshore, it will be worth your time to check your favorite numbers before there is competition.

INSHORE – The weather this week is supposed to be nice. The fishing so far has been awesome. Dawn over at Mary Walker Marina has been seeing a lot of White and Speckled Trout. A man just walked out saying he caught a 27 inch Redfish and a 28 Inch one right after. As mentioned before, there is also a good Flounder bite right now. Most people are using live Shrimp, but Dawn swears that the frozen Shrimp has been better for the White and Specks. Most people are fishing within the barrier islands right now. Pascagoula Channel is a great place to drop some line if you aren’t sure where to go.

BAIT REPORT – Dawn has been seeing Pogies around pretty consistently near the marina, the Mullet however, come and go with the moon.

Pascagoula/Gautier Fishing Report

OFFSHORE –  Sylvia at Mary Walker Marina hasn’t heard much about the offshore lately but that doesn’t mean that it is slow. She has heard reports of Amberjack, Red Snapper and Trigger which is closed. There are also some Cobia and Sharks out there.

INSHORE –  Inshore the bite is good on Flounder, Speckled Trout, White Trout and Redfish. You’ll want to fish with the tide is moving. For The Trout and Redfish you’ll want to use live Shrimp but a lot of anglers are also finding success on frozen Squid. The Flounder are best fished on Squid and Minnows.

BAIT REPORT –  You’ll find some Croaker out around the Islands. if you’re into interested in catching your own you can also get some frozen Pogies at Mark Walker Marina. Catching croaker out around the islands. Frozen pogies at the marina if you want to buy.
