FLORIDA SOUTH EAST

Florida South East Fishing Report

After much anticipation we are finally seeing boats having been able to head offshore over the past week. The Dolphin have been absolutely on fire. Many areas are starting in about 250 to 300 feet of water and making their way out as far as 1100 feet when conditions are favorable. The bite is steady from Jupiter through Miami. Anglers are pulling in a variety of sizes on live bait or artificials. You can thank the recent weather systems for all the debris floating around. While it's important to try to avoid these floaters, they will also be holding some great fish underneath. We hope to see this pattern continue through the Fall. The oddball Bonito, Tuna and Wahoo have been landed. The most action has come from anglers out of Fort Lauderdale. Nothing is consistent quite yet. The bottom bite is still fairly scattered and the odd Snapper and Grouper has shown up around Fort Lauderdale and Miami. They are nowhere near consistent yet but if you stick with it using cut bait to bring them up you'll eventually find the fish. Don't be afraid to do some chumming to get them fired up.

The inshore bite continues to work itself back to normal. A majority of the Snook being caught are hanging out in the clean water pockets. Fishing the incoming tide as it brings in the saltier water has been key. They are available to bite any time of day, however it's more difficult to find the clean water at night. Your best bet is to start on the beaches and go from there. Tarpon have also been caught into this week although they, too, are fairly scattered. Stick to the rivers using live bait and if you are willing to put some time in you'll be able to come home with a nice sized fish or two.
