The bite has returned well to this area. As we see more and more nicer weather we are also finding the water has been clearing up quite a bit. There are certainly still areas of dirty water but anglers are managing to find plenty of clear pockets as well. Snook are off to a good start as they fire back up. Fishing sheltered areas such as jetties, the lagoon, bridges and structure will produce well. Live bait has been the trick once you find them.
The Redfish bite has also turned on over the past week. Casting at them in the clean pockets using Mullet and Pinfish has found plenty of fish inshore. They seem to be scattered about, so finding clean water is more important than heading to a particular area. Trout are a bit slow as of late. With the freshwater mix they are hiding in deeper, more saline water. It's still important to get out early if you are looking for them, before the water temperatures heat up. Don't forget that fresh bait either!
At this point, Tarpon are very slow however some have been caught around Stuart at night. Once the bait makes it's way back we should see some better action. We are still waiting for anglers to be able to make the trip offshore.
