INSHORE – First part of last week proved productive for most anglers fishing Big Lake for limits of Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). This time of the year most of our fishermen like to target good eating trout in the 15 to 20 inch range. The pickings have been good on the South end of Calcasieu throwing live bait under a cork. Most all week Captain Jimmy’s crew have been scoring on some very solid Redfish (Drum, Red) working the banks and cuts on glow/chartreuse Hackberry Hustlers. If you want to tie into one of those huge oversize bull Redfish head to the Cameron Jetties with some cracked crab and soak in on the bottom and hold on. INSHORE – Warmer than usual weather continues to bring solid 17 to 20 inch Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) to the cleaning shed most every day. Live Shrimp rigged under a popping cork has been deadly in 4/5 feet of water. Clean water over oyster reefs both on the South end of the lake as well Turner Bay has been good for our guys. Quick limits of slot size Redfish (Drum, Red) are gobbling up the same bait on the banks over on the East side of Big Lake early in the morning. Cypremort Point Fishing Report
INSHORE – Good catches of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted), Redfish (Drum, Red) and Flounder (Flounder, Southern) signaled a great opening to our 2017 fishing season. Solid 15 to 19 inch Trout were caught most all week on live Shrimp as well as H & H Cocahoe minnows and Hackberry Hustlers in Black/chartreuse soft plastics. All of the baits were rigged under rattling popping corks about 3 feet deep. As this unusually warm weather continues to heat up the lake the solid catches will continue to make their way to the cleaning table.

INSHORE – Unusually warm days for this time of the year has warmed the lake which makes for super catches for this time of the year. Limits of good solid Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) along with Flounder (Flounder, Southern) and Redfish (Drum, Red) are being brought to the cleaning shed most every day. After this little cool front gets out of here today or tomorrow southeast wind will return for some good fishing through the end of the week. INSHORE – Anglers have been catching a lot of Speckled Trout. They are biting well on slow suspending baits such as MirrOdines. Water clarity has been great and Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are turning up along the whole chain into Lake Charles. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) have been great as well as they begin to move back in around the marsh areas. Chartreuse or white are the two hottest colors so far.

INSHORE – Between now and the first of May is the best time here on Lake Calcasieu to hook up with one of the big sow trout that roam this estuary. Catches of Redfish along the east bank of the lake have been good when we can get out. Strong winds have kept most anglers at the dock for the last few days. I won’t say the spring Flounder (Flounder, Southern) run has started but good amounts of the flat fish have been caught along the channel when you can find clean water.

INSHORE – Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) fishing has picked up on the North End this week. Redfish (Drum, Red) and Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are great in Big Lake. Chartreuse Gulp Swimming Mullet is your best bet to catch them on a moving tide. As long as the nice weather holds up we expect this bite to improve into the weekend.

INSHORE – Dirty water left over from last week’s strong west wind is clearing and holding good fish. A lot of guides have also been fishing on the North end of the lake where cleaner water is much easier to find. Most any soft plastic that you have in your box will work under a cork as long as it’s Chartreuse. Special thanks to Zachery Franklin for holding his bachelor party here at the lodge. Captain Travis, Brent and Jeff rounded up big limits of Redfish (Drum, Red) as well as some Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Flounder (Flounder, Southern). Way to go guys.

Cypremort Point Fishing Report
INSHORE – Last week produced a mixed bag of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted), Redfish (Drum, Red) and Flounder (Flounder, Southern) for fishermen on the lake. Two or three days last week strong winds from both the west and the east slowed the bite but when it stopped on Saturday and Sunday good catches made it back to the cleaning table. Most of the lake was pretty muddy from the strong winds but guide Brent Slusher and others found the Red fishing action good in clean, fishable water in the intercostal and salt ditch. Brent allowed the best baits were chartreuse Little John’s as well as Berkley gulp rigged on a lead head and tipped with a little dead Shrimp.

INSHORE – We are still catching a lot of Redfish (Drum, Red) in the area. Gulp Shrimp and Gulp Grubs are your best bet to hook them. Fish the moving tide for a more productive bite. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are also being caught. Anglers are also catching White Trout (Seatrout, Sand) on slow sinking suspending baits. Like most inshore fish, plan to be on the water during moving tide.

INSHORE – The weather is cool and the weather is hit or miss. With the recent cold front the fish may be a bit mixed up. Once things warm up the bite will even out. Redfish (Drum, Red) will typically take Gulp and Shrimp when the tides are running. With the cooler temperatures they will likely be schooled up on the bottom so fish lower and slower to catch them.

INSHORE – There are a lot of Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) being caught on soft plastics such as MirrOlure Lil’ Johns. Darker colors are working well with the recent rain. Purple and Glow with a dark or chartreuse tail are best. Redfish (Drum, Red) have been productive. Catch them on Gulp Shrimp imitation lures. They aren’t too picky about colors, they have been eating everything. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are tailing off but the run as been great. Chartreuse and white grubs will still work to hook leftover fish. Fish a moving tide for the best bite.

They are being caught a bit later in the day as the duck hunting is all in the morning. Fish during the outgoing tide along the Ship Channel for Flounder using Berkley Gulp tipped with Shrimp. Reds are on the jetties when you can get out and get them. Cracked Crab and cut Mullet are a bit more productive.

INSHORE – The Specks (Seatrout, Spotted) are biting at night using small Spoons and MirrOlure Lil Johns. During the day anglers are searching under the birds. The fish are mostly small at this point. Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are running out of the marsh and taking Pink/Chartreuse Gulp Swimming Mullet. This is the same bait to use for Redfish (Drum, Red). Fish the Flounder fairly shallow in the cuts of the marsh. Specks are in 8 ft or less. Reds are a bit more spread out in the marsh. Quarter oz jigheads with soft plastics work well for them.

INSHORE – The fishing is decent and we expect things to improve after the upcoming cold front. The weather has been mild for this time of year so the cold should heat up the bite. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are turning on. They will last another month before the wind down. Flounder fishing is good and the Redfish are improving. The Flounder (Flounder, Southern) will slow down soon as well however the Reds (Drum, Red) will keep improving. Flounder will take jigs in the current through the channels leading to the gulf. They make a run offshore so they school up to make a mass movement.

INSHORE – We are seeing a lot of Flounder (Flounder, Southern) starting up recently. Nice limits of Flounder are coming up from both sides of Ships Channel on the South end of the lake. Cold fronts are moving in so the whole estuary areas should light up. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are under the Shrimp in the lake. Look for the birds to find them. You can get easy limits on soft plastics, MirrOlures and Little Johns. Redfish (Drum, Red) bite year round and they are doing well. There has been a lot of rain as of late so the marshes are a bit mixed up.

INSHORE – Everyone loves November for many reasons. I can think of 5 or 6 right off the top of my head but catching fish on big lake is right at the top of my list. Cooler mornings have got the white Shrimp moving out of the marsh just about every day. It’s not uncommon to look around Turner’s bay very early in the morning and see 5 or 6 sets of diving seagulls diving over concentrations of Speckled trout (Seatrout, Spotted). The fish are on the smaller side but those small 13 inch & 14 inch fish are the best in eating anyway. INSHORE – Early and quick catches of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) continue to come from diving seagulls and drifting oyster reefs on the south end of the lake. Live bait is available but is not necessary for anglers fishing with soft plastics under a popping cork. Fishermen dragging along the bottom with Berkley gulp on a light lead head continue to bring in limits of Flounder (Flounder, Southern) on outgoing tides on both sides of the ship channel. Big Redfish (Drum, Red) are still catchable at the Cameron jetties while soaking cut Mullet and crack Crab.

INSHORE – The full October moon has been causing some strong tides that have slowing catching a bit this past week. Catches of 20 to 30 fish has been common for most boats each day. Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have been scattered but hefty Redfish (Drum, Red) are there for the taking and the Cameron Jetties. Lots of small Trout and Sand Trout (Seatrout, Sand) are being caught in big lake over oyster reefs and picking birds. Best baits have been a live offering and soft plastics rigged about 2 feet under a strike indicator (a popping cork for you purist). Tomorrow or the next day conditions here will change drastically. A cold front coming through and a dark moon will get things moving in the right direction.

INSHORE – The past few mornings a brisk north wind has put a little quicker step in everyone’s step around the lodge. Early morning boat rides require and a hoodie and by mid- morning short sleeves are back. Forget about the weather report FISHING IS SUPER. Lots of school Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) caught under diving seagulls on soft plastics or anything else you throw at them. Most of the bird action is all up and down the entire lake. It seems like most of our anglers want to go catch limits of Redfish (Drum, Red) and there is plenty of the tackle busting bruisers to be caught. From the jetties, the beach and west cove the red beauties are fun to catch not to mention REDFISH ON THE HALF SHELL. Catching the Louisiana flatfish (Flounder, Southern for you northers) is getting better every day. On both side of the ship channel is the place to be if you are going to flounder around for a while.

INSHORE – The past week could be summed up by saying October’s weather and fishing pattern is here! Each year we look forward to one of our favorite months to spend time on the lake. Lots of bird activity because these little cool fronts force the white Shrimp out of the marsh which makes for easy pickings for the diving gulls. There were a couple of days we were able to fish the rocks in the surf last week with good results on live bait and Mirrolure Little John soft plastic. Opening Night Hackberry Hustlers on a light lead head were good early on Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) around the far west rock. INSHORE – s September ends with not only good fishing we ended our early teal season with some really good trips to the marsh. In the short 2 week time our hunters managed to harvest just fewer than 450 of the fast flying ducks for the picking house. Our daily average was a very respectable 10 birds per blind. September is always a great month to be outdoors chasing alligators and limits of fish on the lake. What our system could use is a fairly good cold/cool front to move the rest of the fresh water out and start the white Shrimp dumping out of the marsh. Catching has been good with limits of smaller Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) coming from working birds on the south end while chunking soft plastics on a lead head under a cork. INSHORE – Lots of diving sea gulls on the south end of the lake pointed the way to quick limits of Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) with some Redfish (Drum, Red) mixed in. A lot of the Trout were on the smaller side but the action was hot and heavy. Best baits were LSU (purple/chartreuse) Hackberry Hustlers fished tight lined. Other good offerings were Mirrour’s Little John’s in the East Beast color. Big tackle busting’ Redfish are being caught in the marsh and at the Cameron jetties on cut Mullet. A lot of these super fishing trips are coming after a big day in the duck blind and a big bowl of Tina’s famous GUMBO. What could be better? INSHORE – The saltier water is still mostly along the ship channel south of 9 Mile and is holding loads quite a few monster Reds (Drum Red). Live shrimp and Mullet under a popping cork was a popular choice among fishermen when available. Capt. Mike had a great week bringing loads of big reds to the cleaning table. Hackberry Hustlers proved lethal on Big Ole Redfish and some really nice sized Trout (Seatrout, Spotted), and lots of them! Night fishing on the one and only Night Stalker was a great success for many landing quite a few huge Bull Reds! Along with the awesome week of fishing, opening weekend of Teal Season proved a great success for most hunters. Great week for fishing AND hunting! INSHORE – The rain has moved out, but left lots of freshwater in the lake. As Augusts hot weather is still hanging around, the fishing has picked up tremendously on the south end. The saltier water is along the ship channel south of 9 Mile and is holding loads of small trout and quite a few Reds (Drum, Red). Because of all the freshwater, live Shrimp have been hard to keep alive so live Mullet under a popping cork was a popular choice among fishermen when available. Capt. Travis Spicer caught quite a few Reds on live Mullet as well as Purple and Chartreuse LSU Hackberry Hustlers. Capt. Zach also caught a limit of trout on East Beast Hackberry Hustlers at the Cameron Jetties where the water is very fishable. When the weather allows, we are able to run out to the short rigs just of the beach. Overall, a great week of fishing now that the weather has cleared up.

INSHORE – Most of last week was spent either waiting out or dodging thunder showers here on the lake for most fishermen. When you could get out finger Mullet was the bait of choice under a popping cork. Because of the fresh water coming down the system it has been hard to keep live Shrimp alive. The good news is if we can get down on the south end around the Cameron jetties the water is clear and salty. It has been a long time since we can remember this much rain and bad weather in August. We have had some good catches when we have been able to get away for the dock

INSHORE – Last week as South Louisiana took a beating from soaking rains both south and north of I 10, we on the far west dodged a major bullet. Our friends to the East of us experienced a terrible tragedy with major flooding and heavy rains for days. We are told there were over 40,000 homes damaged in the flood, and even more families displaced. Many residents on this side of the state continue to donate and help with assistance to the flood victims. We would ask that you make a donation to the Red Cross and designate it for the Louisiana Flood Victims, and please continue to pray for them. The rains continued into late Thursday, allowing us to have a very productive weekend on the Lake. As we were able to fish, most of the catches came in from the South End of West Cove. Fishermen leaving the dock on Friday morning were very excited after four days canceled from heavy rain. Lots of small fish are in the system right now, but never fear, September and October are near with bigger fish on the way! Most all of our fish were caught on live Shrimp and finger-Mullet with early morning catches caught on Hackberry Hustlers rigged under a leg-head and a popping cork. (Drum, Red)(Seatrout, Spotted)

INSHORE – Hackberry and Lake Calcasieu dodged all of the really heavy rain that began on Thursday and moved across most of the State of Louisiana. Most of the rain stopped Sunday afternoon so we will be back on the lake today. The bad news is our friends up north and east got hammered and need our prayers. Whatever fresh water runoff we get won’t affect our fishing much because this time of the year we are fishing on the south end of the system anyway. As you know August is the time to fish along the beachfront and the Cameron Jetties when the water is clean. It’s my favorite time of the year (before September gets here).

INSHORE – August is one of the best months we have here on our lake with catches of limits of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). The wind turned out of the west Saturday and Sunday but the first 5 days were gangbusters. The bite last week was along the ship channel with live Finger Mullet and Shrimp. The bite was very early and was pretty much over around 9:00 or so after the tide turned strong to the south. Those headed off the shore earlier in the week caught limits of solid Trout very quickly and came back into chase Redfish (Drum, Red) to fill out their day. INSHORE – Our customers are catching fish this week! Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) has been really good. They are in their summer pattern. They are running up and down the ship channel, jetty, surf and close platforms. Redfish (Drum, Red) are mediocre this week. They can be found from the intracoastal and to the North. There aren’t many to the South except for the Jetty. There are also some Tripletail in the bay. Fish the buoys off the shore, floating debris and grass lines. The live bait bite has been the ticket with Shrimp or Finger Mullet.

INSHORE – Good weather and good catches of solid Redfish (Drum, Red), Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Tripletail this past week. Calm seas past the Cameron jetties invited fishermen out to slam a few Tripletail early in the week. Tossing a live Shrimp in front of the hard fighting fish was just the ticket. Solid Trout and big hard fighting bull Reds were coming from the big jetties most every day on live finger Mullet and free Shrimping the little morsel along the weak tide. Mirrorlure’s little john and Hackberry Hustlers rigged under a light lead head work really good drifting oyster reefs on the south end of the lake.

INSHORE – Much of the fresh water that has been hanging around our system for the last few weeks is making its way out. We are beginning to get some of that good green tint back in the water all up and down the system. Most limits of solid Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are coming from the west cove area on live Shrimp offered under a popping cork. Captain Guy Stansel has been scoring some big tackle busting Redfish (Drum, Red) for customers fishing with bait at the Cameron Jetties. INSHORE – The long weekend has produced a great bite for anglers that hit the water. We saw Capt. Don and his deckhand, Hunter bring in an awesome catch of Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Flounder (Flounder, Southern) on the night bite. INSHORE – As the last of the freshwater runoff disappears on the tide catches of solid Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are showing up under big sets of working gulls in west cove and around the old engine area. Frighten Shrimp jumping out of the water trying to escape certain death in the month of a fish end up in the trout belly and then the cooler. Now that’s the cycle on big lake. Catches of solid Tripletail are there for the catching just outside the big jetties if you fish them with live Shrimp. INSHORE – What a great spring and early summer we have had here on Lake Calcasieu. In lieu of early rains and some on again off again winds we have had the best three months of catching we have had in the last 5 years or so. Basically the hottest action has come from the far south end of the lake. High tides have kept the fresh water up to the north and catching has been very good to the south. Very good catches of solid Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have been coming from the short rigs in the gulf and the rock along the beach when the clean water gets that far in. A lot of bird action continues in the lake and west cove with live Shrimp and soft plastics being the best baits. INSHORE – After a couple of days of wind and rain Big Lake are paying off today for those fishing with live Shrimp. Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are coming from sets of diving seagulls in the lake. A couple of days last week when the surf flattened out the rock groins along the beach were holding some solid Speckled Trout. Several of the guides told me the water didn’t have a lot of clarity but was clear enough to catch em’. Most Redfish (Drum, Red) are coming from the marsh using live bait under a cork and when you find them limits were caught very quickly. INSHORE – What a great week of catching this past week here in southwest Louisiana. Solid limits of Speckled Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have been coming from under big sets of working gulls early in the morning using Berkley gulp and Hackberry Hustlers. Three or four days last week the gulf was flat and inviting for anglers looking for action. Trips outside the jetties paid off with some fishermen catching Speckled Trout and a few brought back some good size tripletail for the cleaning table. Most all of the Redfish were caught in west cove and the south end of the lake. The best bait was live shrimp that have been plentiful at the bait house. INSHORE – Fishing last week held up very good considering the on again off again weather. Limits of solid Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) caught on live Shrimp under a cork came from West cove, Turner bay as well as black lake on the far west side of Hackberry. Other than live shrimp many of the good baits have been any Hackberry Hustler with a chartreuse tail as well as H & H’s three inch Cacahoe Minnow in the black/Chartreuse combination. Longtime Guide Jimmy Deason allows that one of his favorite baits this past week has been the baby bull minnow in the Opening Night color. All of these very popular soft plastics were all rigged on quarter ounce lead heads.

INSHORE – Good catches of both Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Flounder (Flounder, Southern) are coming from both ends of the lake. Live Shrimp under popping cork fishing over an oyster reef in west cove have been yielding limits of Speckled trout for the box. There has been some very solid 3, 4, and 5 pounder mixed in with some of the smaller and better eating fish. The spring Flounder run continues to be good up on the north end dredging baits along the bottom. Spicer’s marine has been able to hold fair numbers of live shrimp and the supply should only get better in the next few weeks as the fresh water moves on out. Soft plastics baits like Hackberry Hustlers, little john’s and TTF’s Texas trout killer have been the got to baits.

INSHORE – Every year April is a toss-up. There are good days, average days and not so good days. It’s more weather drive than most of the summer months. Kirk said the salinity content is headed north and recent trout limits are proving he’s right on. Recently good catches of trout have been coming from the south end of big lake and the west cove area. He allowed that flounder fishing continues to be very good in the marsh catching them on quarter ounce jigs using Hackberry Hustlers and chartreuse Berkley gulp. The shrimp have moved in and most days our guides can get live bait for the day. As the shrimp continue to show up there should be some picking gulls pointing to the trout for easy picking.

INSHORE – Most of our anglers for the past few days having been fighting strong winds that have mudded most of the lake. That’s the bad news. The good news is there are spots of clean water to be found on the south bank. INSHORE – The weather has been keeping a lot of anglers off the water as of late. There has been a lot of flooding runoff that has affected the fishing as well. Anglers who decide to head out can look for cleaner water and throw artificial lures this week. The Redfish (Drum, Red) will have schooled up with the conditions however the Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) will have scattered due to the freshwater mix. INSHORE – Things have slowed down a bit due to the rain and high winds muddying up the water. This should clear up within a week or two. INSHORE – The Reds (Drum, Red) have been on fire just about everywhere lately. It has been difficult to keep your bait in the water. There have also been some good Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) in the area as well. They are pretty spread out so far. They are as far North as the Inlet. INSHORE – This time of year Redfish (Drum, Red) start schooling up in in some of the deeper holes and channels. They can be found on the some of the flats as well when the water is up. Slower presentations like slowly bouncing soft plastic along the bottom is a good approach in cold weather. Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) will be near the mouths of the bayou. There’s now a Vudu shrimp with a rattle in it that has received lots of praise by anglers for both Trout and Redfish while fished slowly in the colder water.

INSHORE – The fishing has been consistent in this area so far. Most anglers are fishing with suspended baits and doing well as the water has cleared up and the rain has stopped. There is still some mud around but that has not prevented anglers from heading out. They are finding the most success using a slow stealthy approach to fish. INSHORE – There is some great action from the inshore this week. Lots of big Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) have made their way in now with the cooler weather. They are nice and chunky for the winter season. Suspending baits, anything moving slow under the surface of the water, has been the best bet to hook them. Reds (Drum, Red) have also been unstoppable this week. They are so thick it’s been difficult to keep a hook in the water. Reds aren’t picky about what they hit either. Anything that lands in front of them, they will eat. Shrimp or similar artificials is always a good bet. Finally there are still some Flounder (Flounder, Southern & Flounder, Gulf) hanging around and are loving gulp swimming Mullet in chartreuse. They are not as populated however the bite is there for anglers who are targeting them and putting some time in.

INSHORE – The main target in the area this week has been Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). Anglers have been catching them under the birds using soft plastics. Glow, chartreuse, chicken on a chain and Shrimp colors have been the preference so far. Tightlining on a quarter oz jighead has been the ideal setup. The Red (Drum, Red) bite has been great as well on the East side of the lake. They are hitting mainly the same bait as the Trout but are particularly loving the berkley gulp swim Mullet. When the next cold snap sets in, the Reds will begin to move to more open water while the Trout size and bite will increase dramatically.

INSHORE – There was a solid start to the Flounder (Flounder, Southern & Flounder, Gulf) last week however it has plateaued at this point due to the weather warming back up. The next cold snap is expected to bring an increased bite. When they are on they have been hitting a chartreuse swimming Mullet by gulp. It has been the top seller so far. There have also been some good sized Reds (Drum, Red) in the marsh along with some hit and miss Trout (Seatrout, Spotted). BAIT REPORT – Shrimp have pretty much moved out at this point and Mullet has become quite scarce. The spotty Mullet hanging around is a bigger size so most anglers are turning to artificial this week.

Cypremort Point Fishing Report
INSHORE – Conditions in this area have not been ideal for this time of year. The wind is continues to blow pretty strong along with the the unseasonably warm temperatures and mixed water has made fishing difficult. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) bite his continued to do well despite these factors and they are coming up in both good sizes and numbers. They are all hiding in the reefs so anglers are using the birds to find them. High water systems have pushed more Reds (Drum, Red) into the marsh which anglers have been hooking with live Shrimp and Flies. Flounder, Gulf have turned up very sporadically and are chasing a berkley gulp swim Mullet with a curl tail grub.
OFFSHORE – Wind and rain has deterred many anglers from heading offshore this week. There are currently no offshore trips to report however if conditions lay down and fishermen decide to head to the deeper water they can always consult our Tips feature which provides additional suggestions and information that could help improve the catch.
BAIT REPORT – Shrimp seem to be the only bait swimming as of now. Mullet, Hardheads and Ladyfish have moved out.

Cypremort Point Fishing Report
INSHORE – The fishing has been doing very well lately. The Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) bite has been fantastic under the birds and along the reefs. They are loving Mirrolures and Sand Eels either on their own or on a jighead. Anglers have been heading out in the early morning or late evening to hook Trout. The cooler weather has made them more prominent. Redfish (Drum, Red) have also been plentiful going after the same bait as the Trout, and generally found in the same areas. They have been reported in various sizes. Flounder, Gulf are another shallow water fish that are hungry right now. Berkley gulp swim Mullet with a curl tail grub is the number one choice for anglers in this area. They are using them on a jighead. Overall, artificials seem to be the more popular choice for inshore fishing.
OFFSHORE – There isn’t a whole lot going on in the deeper water at this time. Snapper, Lane is biting at the 10-20 mile range. They are going after hair jigs with a curly tail grub if it’s swimming in front of them. Otherwise the seasonal weather has made offshore fishing fairly scattered. Anglers that do head out can always consult Lake Charles Tackle for an up to the minute report.

INSHORE – The bite is good for Redfish and Speckled Trout. Catching isn’t as good as it should be because the weather has been bad and the fresh water has really flushed out the back country. YOu can still catch some Trout and Redfish using Shrimp, dead or alive. We are looking forward to the fall which is awesome for Speckled Trout.BAIT REPORT – There are lots of bait sized Croaker around as well as Mullet for the Reds. Use a cast net for the bait.
