Boynton Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – You may not believe it but all the hot bites have been coming from the offshore this week. Snook are the most consistent inshore target, but don’t worry, they’re doing well into this week despite the hit or miss weather. Inlets, docks, beaches, seawalls and rivers are all holding decent fish. No matter where you go it seems you will run into some Snook. They are also not picky on bait. Our Captains and Bait Shops seem to be using a wide variety of setups and still finding plenty of success. Scattered Tarpon and Pompano can also be caught, mostly from the beach. They haven’t quite become consistent yet. We hope to see the inshore improve as the season progresses.

OFFSHORE – If you are able to make it offshore this week you will have no problem loading up on a good variety of fish that are turning up in decent sizes as well. There is no question that Dolphin are taking the prize for best fish so far this week. From Juno to Fort Lauderdale they are consistently turning up, the only difference being the depth they are found in. Once you hit your spot, troll a skirted Ballyhoo and get ready for a great bite! Anglers are also getting pumped about the upcoming full moon because you know what that means, Wahoo! They are already beginning to fire up so anglers are taking every opportunity to head to 100-300 feet of water around the Lake Worth to Deerfield areas. The occasional Sailfish and Tuna are also mixed in. When weather keeps anglers nearshore the focus has shifted to the bottom bite. Snapper and Cobia can be caught a bit closer in taking live bait. 90 feet has been a key depth to start in. There has been no shortage of options offshore this week.

INSHORE – Big Bluefish are on the beach from Blowing Rocks to the North, about 20 feet deep. They can be caught from the boats. Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are in good numbers swimming the beach from Juno North. Big Bluefish are also in the river. Jacks (Jack, Crevalle) and Ladyfish are also being caught. Snook (Snook, Common) are holding up on the jetties. They aren’t really thick but they’re becoming more active.

OFFSHORE – There has been some Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin) with schoolie Dolphin this week. Cobia and Kings (Mackerel, King) have been caught as well. Search for them to the North in 100-110 feet of water. The bottom bite has been a bit slower overall. Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) and Wahoo have been caught but they are not consistent. Sails are around 220 feet of water. Most anglers are starting at the edge. Dolphin are coming right up to the top.

BAIT REPORT – There hasn’t been much on bait as of late. Small schools of Mullet are getting ready to fire up in the backcountry.

Boynton Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – They are finally here! Better Tarpon are beginning to show up this week and anglers have long awaited to target them with the early Spring conditions. We are seeing a good variety of techniques working well to hook them from Jupiter to Fort Lauderdale however we are mostly seeing live bait as the key to hooking them. Mullet, Shrimp, Bonito slabs and Kingfish bellies are all good choices this week. We expect that they will be moving into their typical feeding spots as long as the weather stays consistent.
Snook are a great follow up fish this week. They are steadily turning up throughout the inlets and don’t seem to be too picky in terms of what they will feed on. Otherwise, anglers are heading to the beach for scattered Pompano, Whiting or Bluefish.

OFFSHORE –
If you’re heading offshore this week you’re probably out there taking advantage of the hot Dolphin bite! From Jupiter to Fort Lauderdale we are seeing success with many anglers landing good numbers of Mahi. They are scattered throughout the offshore in typical depths however live bait on the troll has been the key to catching them. Blue/white or pink/white combinations are best in terms of artificials.
There are plenty of other fish to target in the deep water as well. We are seeing nice sized Tuna turning up along with Kingfish up to almost 40 pounds. Sails are also mixed in anywhere from 100-300 feet of water. The bottom bite is producing a variety of Snapper as well, especially out of the Jupiter and Juno areas. We hope to see everything continue with the nice weather into next week.

Boynton Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – If you’re heading out to the surf or the inshore this week you’ll want to look towards Jupiter as the Miami area was blown out! The wind has kept many anglers waiting for weather windows to take advantage of the bite. This week, the focus has been on Snook. Your typical areas are holding the best fish however a full moon is what will fire them up. The night bite has been successful for those casting live bait, especially with the bait run beginning in Deerfield.
The day bite is considerably slower this week. When you can find an area with some shelter or a break in the wind you might be able to see some of the scattered Pompano, Bluefish and Sharks running the beach. If you are lucky enough to be able to get onto the reefs, they will be holding decent sized Cobia as well. Once things calm down we suspect that the fish will be feeding on the bait run as the Mullet make their way in and the Sardines head to the rock piles off the beach.

OFFSHORE – This week the weather is cool but the bite is hot, hot, hot! We are still getting a lot of Tuna including Yellowfin, a Bluefin or two, Blackfin and even some Skipjack. The numbers are consistently good from Jupiter to Fort. Lauderdale. Head to 120 feet of water for consistently good sizes of Blackfin from 5 to 8 pounds with bigger sizes mixed in.
There have been reef fish including Kings swimming both nearshore and offshore along the coast. Sails are mixed in with the Kings towards Jupiter however by the time we make our way to Fort Lauderdale they have become, still consistent, but scattered from in close to farther offshore. Normally they are slow at this time of year however they are still quite active into this week. From the bottom, the Snapper are providing the hotter bite. A variety of species have been caught using Sardines as well as Squid throughout the area. Amberjack are beginning to stack up on the deeper reefs as well.

Boynton Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – Anglers have finally had some reports of Cobia close to the beach in Lake Worth. We are hoping the weather treats us to a few opportunities to get on them. Jetty fishermen are doing very well on Snook at night around bridges and dock lights, daytime jetty fishing is also good. If you are unsure of where to go, try Deerfield or Fort Lauderdale and bring some topwaters. Don’t be surprised if you hook a few Jacks and Snapper when using Shrimp. Fishing Headquarters out of Fort Lauderdale has reported bigger Tarpon in the area. The fish have been extremely difficult to get a bite out of. Down in Miami, Government Cut in the bay near the key has produced good amounts of Tarpon.

OFFSHORE – The bottom bite for Snapper has been slow early in the week on account of the wind. This is normally a good thing however because the fish are usually less pressured when you finally get a chance to target them. We caught up with Fishing Headquarters running out of Fort Lauderdale and they reported decent Amberjack fishing around the shipwrecks in 200 feet of water. You will also hook a pile of catch and release Grouper from the bottom. The offshore trolling bite was really hit or miss from Miami up to Jupiter. The better bite was to the South. Wahoo reports were fairly slim unless you were able to get close to the Bahamas. Look to see Dolphin fishing pick up off of West Palm Beach as new debris and weedlines should show up. A mix of Tuna and Bonito were readily caught out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Bonito were up to 5 pounds. Moving closer in, Kingfish have been biting in around 85 feet of water with the odd Sailfish mixed in. Sailfishing should resume following the week’s early wind events.

Delray Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – Jacks and Snook have been on the bite this past week in Southeast Florida. The Jacks in particular have been blowing up Mullet, the Lake Worth/Boynton area is fishing especially well for them. For the Snook, just a Shrimp under a cork will get the job done in most situations this week. From Deerfield to Miami, you can also find a pretty decent Tarpon bite inshore so long as you are using baits that are very lively.

OFFSHORE – Sailfishing was pretty interesting over the past 10 days. Fort Lauderdale and Miami’s Sailfish bite was on prior to the weekend, then it seemed to shut down. A lot of the boats taking part in the Sailfish tournament elected to move north to Pompano beach where quite a few Sailfish ended up being released. Aside from good amounts of Kingfish in 90 to 150 feet of water, there were some very big Blackfin Tuna caught from north of Miami down around to the Keys. Miss Britt Charters out of Miami even boated a few 30 pounders.

INSHORE – Snook and Jack Crevalle were the hot catches this week. They are being caught on DOA lures, Yo Zuri Minnow patterns and bait. Most of the fish have been caught throughout inlets and sea walls. There were also some Cobia up to 50 pounds on the beaches at Jupiter and Juno.
There has been some good Sheepshead opportunities throughout the Southeast but they do slow down as you hit warmer water. Good sized Tarpon have been showing up in Fort Lauderdale. We are expecting that bite to heat up over the next few weeks.

Boats out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale had a really good week catching everything from Sailfish on kites to Dusky Sharks in 500 feet of water.

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – Bluefish have been peppering the beaches from Jupiter to Fort Lauderdale. Don’t be surprised if there is some Spanish Mackerel mixed in. It should be a good time to be throwing spoons or plugs into the surf.
Snook are slowly heating up in the lower stretches of Southeastern Florida. Most popular lures are Flair Hawks and SpoolTeks. A few of the beaches North of Deerfield are offering up some good Pompano action. If you are looking to get into Jacks or Barracuda they have been in particularly good numbers around the Pompano Beach area.

OFFSHORE – The offshore boats have been doing very well on King Mackerel this week. From Jupiter all the way down to Miami the Kingfish have been caught in no less than 85 ft and no deeper than 125 ft, with the exception of Fort Lauderdale anglers finding some big Kings in 150 ft of water. The gulf stream provided a good Wahoo bite this past week. From the waters off of Juno Beach getting heavier around Pompano Beach and slowing down a bit South of Hollywood anglers are finding Wahoo. Sailfish have been sporadic throughout. A lot of boats are spending their time live baiting or trolling in 150-250 ft. Boats trolling anywhere from 200-500 ft all throughout the region have been finding some weeds along with some Dolphin. Cobia, Lane Snapper, and Vermilion Snapper have been caught off of Jupiter and Juno in roughly 100 ft of water. Yellowtail Snapper have been slow from Lake Worth down to Boca Raton. Bottom fishing has been a bit slow in Southeast Florida. Except for a good Yellowtail bite in 60-90 ft of water out from Miami.

OFFSHORE – The Swordfish (Billfish – Swordfish) are hitting on the humps straight out of Palm Beach, about 15 miles out from Jupiter. Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) are improving with the fronts moving in. Wahoo are better closer to the moon, a few days before and after. There are some Dolphin pushing through as well. They were scarce but are beginning to pick up. When the wind is inshore, the Dolphin are also pushed in. If the wind is offshore they are out towards the ledge. The bite will get better as the weeks progress. Search for them in roughly 100-120 ft at the drop. Blackfin (Tuna, Blackfin) are mixed in with Wahoo. They are up to 25 lbs. Troll to 9 knots to hook both Wahoo and Blackfin, even some Dolphin and Sailfish are on lures. Search 400-420 ft on the troll. Live Goggle eyes are the preference for the Sails if you are targeting them. On the bottom there are some decent Snapper (Snapper, Gray) on the reef around 80-90 ft. At 105 ft off Airforce Beach they are on top of the edge.

The recent cold front gave the fishing a bit of a curve ball. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below for additional tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – The Wahoo bite has been good. Dolphin are big however they are scattered so you’ll have to put some time in to find them. Big Kings (Mackerel, King) have been caught from 70-80 ft around Jupiter.

Bottom fishing is great for Yellowtail (Snapper, Yellowtail) that are biting from 80-150 ft. Chunk a Sardine or drop some live bait down to the bottom to hook them. The day bite is most productive.

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – Lately there is still a mix of Fall Species off of the beach and piers. Mackerel (Mackerel, Spanish), jacks (Jack, Crevalle), Bluefish and more Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are on the beach. Don’t forget that Permit will be around too with the Pompano run. Silver spoons, Gotcha Lures and Doc’s Goofy Jigs are the top artificial lures off of the beach. Sand Fleas or fresh dead peeled shrimp are great for the Pompano. Cut mullet or cut ballyhoo will be good for everything else. Don’t be surprised if an occasional Cobia comes over the rail during these winds. PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below for additional tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – A few Bluefish are on the beach. Jacks (Jack, Crevalle) are up in the river. Pompano (Pompano, Florida) are swimming the pier. They are hit or miss from day to day. Spoons or feathers are working on the beach. Fishing the walls on the inside the topwaters and live bait are doing better. The water is still a bit dirty making the bait difficult to find. INSHORE – There is still a ton of finger mullet in the ICW. Jacks (Jack, Crevalle), Snook (Snook, Common), Tarpon and Cuda (Barracuda, Great) everywhere. The night time Snapper (Snapper, Gray) bite has been good from land. Fish structure. Yes, they are eating the little finger mullet too. If you fish the beach or piers I would stay with a jig or spoon for Mackerel (Mackerel, Spanish), Bluefish and Pompano (Pompano, Florida). PRO ANGLER APP USERS – Tap a fish below for additional tips and tricks!

OFFSHORE – Drift boats have been doing well with the Snapper in close. I did see a few boats go out and return with some Dolphin and Cobia. You can use sardines on the drift but live baiting with mullet (on private boats) should get you some action.

BAIT REPORT – We just got in our shipment of cast nets and have a variety of sizes and prices ranges starting at only $31.99 for a 4 footer. The bait (Mullet) is so thick that a little net will work.

Bluefish and Mackerel (Mackerel, Spanish) have also been caught. The bite has been consistent. The Bluefish are nice sizes. OFFSHORE – The storm seems to be avoiding this area. Conditions aren’t great, most anglers are still staying safely off the water however the system might make some great changes in the water. Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish), Kingfish (Mackerel, King), Wahoo and Dolphin will stir up following the system. Debris and Weedlines are expected to form nicely and bring the Dolphin with them. Most fish should be around 120 but the Dolphin may be farther to 20 miles. Unfortunately the inshore will be a lot more torn up.

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – Calm winds prevailed this past week, making fishing sessions perfect for sight casters. Calm seas have excited anglers as well, allowing many to explore, well offshore. Summer is near and we can only hope these conditions continue, but with a little rain. The ICW still providing great Silver King (Kingfish, Southern) action, beaches as well are producing great fishing. The Tarpon on the beach are ranging in size from 40 to 90 pounds. Live baits like Sardines and Mullet work great free lined on the surface or a weight added to get bait near bottom works as well. DOA Bait busters and DOA 5 inch swim baits in pearl and green back pearl excellent baits for hooking up with the Silver King. The key is fishing early morning and stealth, be very quiet. The fish are schooled up and can be seen near the shorelines rolling in the surface. Always lead the fish and never cast into the pod this will spook them all ending your pursuit to a hook up. Snook (Snook, Common) anglers this is the time, the snook are in the inlets and along the beaches. Live bait anglers Greenies and Sardines work great, but artificial lures are more gratifying, nothing beats a DOA C.A.L. 4 inch jerk baits in bayou tiger or Arkansas glow on a 3/8 ounce jig head to get your drag screaming. DOA C.A.L. 3 inch shad work great as well as they stand out and offer a different silhouette. Docks and seawalls holding fish as well, Heddon Super Spooks in Bone and chartreuse bone color early morning and late afternoon offer explosive action and lead to many fish ranging in the 15 to 25 pound class. The average size of the Snook has been 5 to 25 pounds. The grass flats are offering a plethora of species for angler to tango with, Trout (Seatrout, Spotted), Snook, Drum (Drum, Black), Jacks (Jack, Crevalle), Snapper (Snapper, Gray) and a few Flounder (Flounder, Southern). Live baits pods are prevalent on the flats using Greeines free lined or under a cork will get the rod bent. DOA C.A.L. 3 inch Shad in pearl or holographic great bait on a jig head working the edges of the baits schools for great success. The exotic Peacock Bass fishing has been on point, Peacocks have been in schools around docks, seawalls, bridges and sandy shorelines. Live Shiners work for those looking for set out a cork and wait, or you can use heddon spook jr in chartreuse fro explosive surface strikes. Flies like gurglers, poppers and deceivers produce great numbers of fish as well, nothing beats watching these colorful beauties come up and swallow your fly in front and center. DOA shrimp and DOA C.A.L. 3 inch shad in candy corn and fire tiger great colors as they mimic the Mayan cichlids pattern, peacock favorite forage. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch. Tight Lines. Capt. INSHORE – Snook (Snook, Common) season closes June 1 and the monster fish are everywhere you look. The docks, seawalls, flats and deep passes all are holding fish. Topwater heddon spooks during low light hours creates explosive action for anglers, doa 4 inch cal with 1/8 ounce jig head and live baits worked throughout the day will keep the drag screaming as well. The average size of the snook has been 2 to 25 pounds. Tarpon fishing is hot in the inlets and ICW, the beaches as well are producing fish when seas allow. Live baits drifted with the tide creates strikes, doa cal gold and glow with 1/8 ounce jig head great way to jump a silver king. Tides are the key to dancing with the silver kings and be sure to have a good rod and reel, always bow to the king. Average size of the tarpon has been 5 to 80 pounds. Sea Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) are striking DOA Shrimp and DOA cal along with deceiver flies and live baits. The Trout are be found in pot holes with grassy bottom. Sea trout are aggressive on both sides of the tides and range in size from 2 to 8 pounds. Warm weather has the peacock bass bit going off. The peacock are hanging along seawalls, docks, drop offs, bridges and shorelines. Fast moving lures like a weedless 3 or 4 inch cal in gold and glow, or figi chix gets the strike. Topwater plugs like a heddon spook jr entices great explosions well. Fly fishing is another great way to battles these colorful beauties, small deceivers and minnow patterns work great. The best thing about fishing in south Florida there are so many species to target in our local waters especially exotic species. Mayan Cichlids, oscars, clown knife fish and many others are caught will roaming the freshwater waterways. These species are very active as water temperatures rise and doa lures, fly fishing and live baits will get the rod bent. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. OFFSHORE – Kingfish (Mackerel, King) are out there this week. Mahi (Dolphin) are in about 800 ft of water so anglers have to go a bit farther to find them. Generally Ballyhoo either naked or skirted is a great bait to hook them. Anglers will normally find them on the troll. We expect this bite to continue into the weekend.

INSHORE – The inlets are producing Tarpon and Snook (Snook, Common) this week. The bite has been particularly hot at night. The best bait to throw are live Shrimp or Blue Crabs. The daytime bite is great for Mangrove Snappers (Snapper, Gray) around the bridges and rock piles. The inside reefs are holding some more Snapper (Snapper, Gray & Snapper, Yellowtail) and the bite is great. Chumming at night is the best way to reel a few in.

OFFSHORE – Dolphin have been showing up from 900-1200 ft this week. There is also still a mixed bag of Sails (Billfish – Sailfish), Kings (Mackerel, King) and Wahoo as well. They can be found anywhere from 90 to 450 ft. They are pretty scattered all over the place.

INSHORE – The Sheepshead are still biting fairly consistently around structure. The bite remains hot and the sizes are great. There are also Pompano, Florida in the surf and around the jetties. Anglers are throwing Shrimp and Sand Fleas to hook them. They have had no problem bringing in some nice fish on a trip this week.

OFFSHORE – There is still a great bite to take advantage of offshore. There are a few Dolphin swimming offshore. There are also a few Wahoo being brought in along with some large Kings (Mackerel, King). These were all caught trolling. Split tail Mullet has worked best for Wahoo while Ballyhoo is best for Dolphin.

INSHORE – The Mackerel, Spanish have been swimming the beaches so far this week. The shallower water is where to find them. They are loving live bait this week. There are also some Cobia mixed in however the bite is not consistent. The nearshore is holding some Sharks (Shark, Bull) as well. They are also ways a fun catch.

OFFSHORE – The Kings (Mackerel, King) continue to have a hot bite this week. When the wind dies down anglers can head from 100-150 ft trolling with clark spoons to hook them. They are also catching some Spanish (Mackerel, Spanish) incidentally. There are also a few reports of Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) so far this week. They are hitting live Goggle Eyes. We expect this to continue into the weekend.

INSHORE – Pompano, Florida, Shark, Spinner and Cobia can be found right on the beach this week. They are all loving live bait and aren’t picky. Reds (Drum, Red) can be found around St. Lucie this week. We expect this bite to continue through the weekend and the water should clear up as long as it stays dry.

OFFSHORE – The Kings (Mackerel, King) are doing well at roughly 100 ft. The rain has had the water pretty dirty however the Snapper (Snapper, Mutton) bite has been doing well in this area as well. Wahoo can be caught on the troll as well. Sailfish (Billfish – Sailfish) have been following the Sardine run closer to shore.

BAIT REPORT – Sardines are swimming inshore so far this week.

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – The recent fronts have made the fishing conditions extremely unfavorable for anglers this week. Most have stayed inside however we expect to see a continued Red (Drum, Red), Trout (Seatrout, Spotted) and Sheepshead bite once things clear up. Fish sizes are expected to improve after the passing of the weather.

OFFSHORE – Prior to the messy weather we have seen in this area there were reports of Snapper, Vermillion along with Sea Bass, Black and Cobia swimming the offshore. We expect this to continue once things settle down a bit and anglers can make it onto the water.

INSHORE – Things are spotty inshore this week as most anglers are heading North to catch fish. Bluefish and a few Mackerel, Spanish are hanging around but anglers have to put a lot of time in to find them. There are no signs of Jack, Crevalle so far this week. Things have not seemed to have settled down from last week’s front however we hope to see increased reports soon.

OFFSHORE – The offshore has been the main focus for most anglers this week. The Wahoo are biting steady lately along with some solid sizes of Dolphin. They are loving Ballyhoo as usual or similar moving dark colored lures. The bottom bite has been decent. Anglers are catching Cobia on the drift. They are not as frequent but the sizes are fairly goo

INSHORE – The unfavorable weather has kept most anglers off the water the past few days. The water has been too rough in this area and it was pretty dangerous. Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – The Bluefish and Mackerel, Spanish run are pretty much over now. There may be the occasional straggler left behind but they are gone for the most part. Anglers are catching Reds (Drum, Red) off the flats and the occasional Snapper, Mutton off the pier. Squid or Finger Mullet have produced the best results so far this week. There are no signs of Snook, Common or Jack, Crevalle.

OFFSHORE – The Mahi (Dolphin) have come in close this week swimming in roughly 150 ft of water. They are still fairly small at this point however they are plentiful. There is also a spotty Wahoo bite where anglers have reported nearly 6 ft sizes. Trolling Ballyhoo is typically the best method to catch. There have been no signs of Sails (Billfish – Sailfish) as of yet this week, they should be making their way down soon though.

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – Freshwater has recently mixed into the upper system which has slowed the fishing in this area down quite a bit. There are still some nice big Jacks (Jack, Crevalle) to be caught along with some Pompano, Florida on the shore. The sizes are pretty good and the numbers aren’t bad, but would be better with clearer water. Prior to the mix there were also Sand Perch, Whiting (Kingfish, Southern), and Bluefish so anglers hope to see them move back in when conditions become right.

OFFSHORE – There is a solid Mahi (Dolphin) bite from 250-500 ft of water which is anywhere from 25-50 miles off the coast roughly. They are catching well on pulled Ballyhoo. There have also been reports of some Cobia hitting in close in about 90-100 ft of water. Anglers are getting them by drifting Sardines. The sizes have been good and the numbers are decent so far this week.

BAIT REPORT – Croaker were running the inshore before the freshwater came in. They are expected to move back in once the water clears up.

OFFSHORE – Mahi (Dolphin) have been the target for most anglers this week. They are turning up from 10-20 lbs but there are some varied sizes swimming as well. Mahi have been holding up at the edge of the reef in roughly 80-150 ft of water. Naked Ballyhoo on the troll is the most productive method for them this week. Anglers have also been trolling for some Mackerel, Kings as well. They too are loving Ballyhoo although there aren’t any running at this time.

BAIT REPORT – There aren’t really any bait running in the area. Most of the Ballyhoo are down south at this point.

INSHORE – The bite inshore has become slower but there is still action. Snapper, Gray have moved in closer and are chasing after live Greenbacks and Sardines. There are also some Pompano, Florida in this area, and if anglers look for Sand Fleas and Shrimp they will find them there. Silver Perch are also being netted when anglers are looking for live bait. There are no shortage of fish to catch inshore. BAIT REPORT – There are still some pretty thick Mullet and are best to find at night around the bridges.

OFFSHORE – There is a solid Dolphin bite in the offshore water. They are just about everywhere at about 500 ft and farther. Anglers cannot seem to go wrong here. Whether they are pulling Ballyhoo or throwing an artificial the Mahi seem to be hitting. The Snapper, Gray seem to have moved in closer at this point. Florida Native Bait and Tackle 561-738-2246

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

INSHORE – The bridges are best spot to fish in the shallow water during both incoming and outgoing tide. Tarpon and Snook, Common are biting after dark. Inlets are big for Jack, Crevalle from 20-25lbs. There are some Bluefish in the surf and inlets as well. Mackerel, Spanish are biting as well. Anglers are using Mullet, big swimbaits, topwaters or bombers to hook any of these species.

OFFSHORE – There are tons of Snapper (Snapper, Mutton & Snapper, Gray & Snapper, Yellowtail) swimming in the deeper water around 70-90 ft. If anglers make a run farther out around 12-15 miles they can find a good Dolphin bite as well however they will have to really look for breaks and current. The debris has become scattered with the recent weather conditions. Most fishermen are trolling skirted Ballyhoo in Pink and Green.

BAIT REPORT – There are still some pretty thick Mullet and are best to find at night around the bridges.

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – The deep waters are safe from anglers lately as conditions have been way too rough to get out on the water. No one has been taking on the conditions this week and there have been no reports at this time so we are anxiously awaiting improved weather.

INSHORE – The Snapper (Snapper, Gray) bite has been great lately. They have been holding up in the inlets and piers. Anglers have been hooking them on live Shrimp or Sardines. There have actually been a few Redfish (Drum, Red) reported in the inlets as well however this is considered a rarity for this area and is not expected to increase.

BAIT REPORT – There are no bait reported to be running at the moment. For more suggestions on what to use with specific fish you can always check out our Tips feature which provides additional helpful information on the fish of your choice.

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – As we are seeing in most places, the wind has prevented a lot of anglers from getting offshore and therefore we have not reports at this time. There were some sporadic Kingfish last week and we anticipate seeing that continue after the weather passes. We are hoping the wind will die down soon. If you do decide to brave the conditions be sure to check out our Tips by tapping on the fish of your choice to see what might help you hook up.

INSHORE – Around the inlet Gotcha jigs and spoons are working very well for Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel. If you’re out at night you can expect to see Snook chasing Mullet so a live Mullet is going to be your go to there. There’s even been a Yellowtail Snapper or two around in a little closer. When the winds calms down, expect to see some better fishing.

BAIT REPORT – Mullet are absolutely everywhere so you will have no trouble finding them. If you find areas of cloudy water don’t hesitate to search for some Sardines on Sabiki rigs as these have also been turning up.

INSHORE – The Finger Mullet are everywhere. The Snook and Tarpon bite on the bridges are on fire with the tide changes. Near the shore there are some Blackfin still and a couple Wahoo in the early morning. The Snapper bite near shore has been really good. The Mangroves in shore have been fishing well. Yellowtail have been decent but you have to filter through a lot of shorts. When choosing your bait, your best bet is to go with Finger Mullets since there are a lot of them around and it’s got the fish fired up.

OFFSHORE – Big dolphin are being caught between 12 and 18 miles off with some wahoo being scattered in there too. Hot colors haven’t really been reported, if the fish are there then they’ll eat it. THere’s also a good bottom bite for Snapper in around 90-100 feet off water. And they are taking live bait fish so grab what you can while inshore.

INSHORE – Snook are showing up at the inlets chasing Pilchards but that’s about the most inshore action around here right now.

BAIT REPORT – Mullet are starting to push down this way. There’s also Pilchards and Sardines being caught on Sabiki rigs in the inlets.

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – If you plan on doing some offshore trolling there are Dolphin out there, but you are going to need to head out to the 900 – 1000 foot range. They love trolled Ballyhoo, and I would recommend buying your own instead of planning to catch it once you are out there. The ocean is a big place and you don’t want to waste your gas. If you plan on trolling a lure or skirt you can go a little bit faster, and you want to troll Blue and White or Pink and White. There’s also some good Yellowtail fishing closer in on the reefs. Don’t be afraid to chum for them. These fish are a great catch if you can whip them into a frenzy.

INSHORE – Snook and Tarpon are the predominant catch. You are going to want to use the local bait for them and fish in the morning. The Snook tend to be closer in toward the beaches and the Tarpon tend to stick around structure. There is Mullet around inshore and they make great bait.

BAIT REPORT – There is Mullet, Pilchards, and Goggle Eyes around. If you plan on catching Mullet with a Sabiki, remember to keep your hooks clean – Mullet are vegetarian and the bare metal will shine and grab their attention.

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Our friends over at Florida Native Bait & Tackle have been catching Dolphin really far out in the 10-15 miles range where they are targeting Swordfish. To the north around West Palm Beach there are reports of Dolphin also in the 600 foot range.

INSHORE – The inshore is primarily Croaker and Whiting right now. They bite best on Shrimp or anything that imitates them. There is also the occasional Pompano around, but you will need lady luck on your side. There are more Pompano around Juno pier than anywhere else close by right now. The fishing has been really slow because of the heat. Check the water temperature before you go out and then use your best judgment. The best fishing is going to be early in the morning.

BAIT REPORT – Some bait around the inlet, but you are going to want to go early when the water is cool if you are aiming to catch that.

August 6, 2015

Lake Worth / Delray / Boynton Beach Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Fishing is good right now, but the hope is that the Wahoo will be as good as it was last year where the Wahoo was biting on split tail mullet from August – November. That being said though it hasn’t been on fire and it could slow down if the west wind picks up again. The August pattern is starting. The bottom bite has been so-so. There are Wahoo mixed in with Kingfish and a couple Bonita around the 120 foot mark.

INSHORE – Off the piers the Mangrove Snapper are on fire. The Snook and Tarpon are around the bait schools of Pilchards. Snapper are also biting on Runners around the pier. In the near-shore range the Kingfish are starting to pick up.

BAIT REPORT – Right now there is bait in Juno and Pompano, but in between the bait isn’t great. Some at the Borden inlet. There are small Pilchards that you can find on the tide change.

Josh “aka The King of Pompano Pier” – He went 3 for 6 on Snook the other day. Florida Native Bait & Tackle (561) 738-2246

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Offshore has been slow. There are small Dolphin closer in, but the bigger ones prefer to be farther out. Try trolling Ballyhoo or blue and white lures/skirts. I have heard orange and black has been working for bigger dolphin in the Keys, and it might work here too, but no promises. The Kingfish are also picking up, really the same summer pattern as the last two months.

INSHORE – Fishing has been ok here too. There has been some Summer bait and the main fish inshore are Snook, Tarpon, and Blue Runners. Bonita have been in the intercoastal and will come in on the Piers looking for the bait. Snook are also on the beach spawning, but you aren’t allowed to catch them while they are creating the next generation of slot size fish that we are going to grill in a few years.

BAIT REPORT – There is lots of bait around Juno and Pompano Beaches. Boynton is not as thick, but some piers are stacked in the morning and evenings.

Delray / Boynton Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Jared, a member of the ProAngler team, caught a few Schoolmaster Snapper and Barracudas but it wasn’t long before he got broke off by a bunch more Barracudas. Chunk mullet was doing it for him. The Snappers were biting on dead shrimp, and he dropped down some Ballyhoo, but he isn’t too sure on what stole it off of his hook.

INSHORE – There are lots of Vermillion Snapper in 120 feet of water around the little spotty reefs everywhere. It goes reef, sandbar, next reef, and plenty of fishing in the 70-100 foot as well as the 300 foot areas. Jared likes to anchor up at the shallow reef in the 70 range. Snapper fishing is just amazing there. There is also little Bar Jack – but no Kingfish to be seen. Not a single hit. It has also been really flat out and there is no current. A good number of Dolphin are out by the weedlines. Jared has just been drift fishing the weedlines and tossing chunks of bait and a few jigs. He likes to use the gulfstream lures or a bucktail jig with green feathers.

BAIT REPORT – There has been some menhaden around, but only an inch – just the little babies around the bridges.

Jared also mentioned that the fish have been finicky with heavier lines.

Lake Worth / Delray / Boynton Beach Fishing Report

OFFSHORE: Jared out at Boyton has had lots of offshore luck. There are some good sized Amberjacks and Blackfin Tuna out there. He has been catching them on a butterfly Jig. He prefers to use one’s that are glow in the dark or red. Jared has been drift fishing in about 500 -1000 feet of water which is less than a mile out. There are also lots of Sailfish out there which you can troll for using Skirts. You’ll want to troll at 5-10 knots. Jared likes to use Skirts that are green or blue with sparkles.

INSHORE: Inshore the Tarpon bite is good on Shrimp. There are also some Mangrove and Lane Snapper. Jared also caught a Black Tip Shark the other day. Chunk Mullet is good for just about everything. The Bridges are good holding a lot of drum. If you want to fish near shore you’ll find  lots of small dolphin. You’ll be able to catch those on little blue runners. Nearshore the Snook are also hitting near bait pods and there is some Jack there too. They are also taking well to  Chunk Mullet.

BAIT: Pilchards are scarce but there is some Mullet around.

Lake Worth / Boynton / Delray Beach Fishing Report

OFFSHORE – Bottom fishing is best these days. You’ll find the bite is good for Snapper, Mutton and some Yellow Tail. Its an off and on deal, one day they knock them dead the next is slow. Squid is a good bait but Sardines are even better. Head out to waters between 40 and 250 feet where you’ll find wrecks, rocks or hardbottom. The edge and top of the reef is particularly good. Trolling is fair to middling. There have been a few Wahoo and Dolphin out there, but as mentioned above, bottom fishing is better.

INSHORE – There is always something to catch! There are Mangrove Snapper, Sand Perch, Croakers, Jacks, and Tarpon around. You never know what you’ll find. Make sure to fish the moving tide as that is when the fish like to feed. Shrimp are proving to be a very effect bait . The Tarpon are expected to move a little north, but stay around. They love live bait, especially live Sardines. They tend to be aggressive in the morning and at that time you can skip the live bait and throw a plug. Resident fish are always here, some move though.

BAIT FISH – There is a good number of bait around.
